The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Humans do not see us equal and they should not. Mutants and Humans are not equal. Think of all the Mutations you have seen in our people, can any human truly equal such power? Mutants evolved from humans and history shows us when a species evolves, the old is cast aside and dies off" She said with passion in her voice. "Weather we dance or hide, the humans will come for us, our families and our children and they wont care" she said honestly believing their could never be peace. Mutants could do a job in moments what might take humans days, how could they ever be equal in anything?
"Fine, but let me do the grunt work, i take a bullet pretty well and im used to a good dance." She said with a smile. In truth she was afraid to put her sister in a position whare she might have to directly kill some one. Aura did not consider the mental damage that might do her sister, instead Aura's reason's were more practical. As far as she knew Amber had fought littile and even then she never killed anyone, if her sister hesitated at a poor moment, she might get herself killed. Aura ahd watched the fate happon to many mutants fresh out of training and Amber lacked the training Miracle had demanded.
"A tranq dart is based on weight......" she said thinking to herself. It meant they were good at guessing dinosaur weight or they had a fare idea what one should weigh. "You may not want to tell those mansion people about this one either, they like you after all" Aura said assuming they did as she still want to school there. Aura on the other hand always made sure to stay several feet from the mansion gates.
Aura sniffed the air, spun around and doused the fire under the once noble cat. It wa sa littile burnt but the meat should e fine, Aura thought to herself. "This thing was a lynx, never cooked one before" she said which was true. Aura had a rather adventurous diet. In the wood's you somtimes had to ctahc your own dinner and one learned to eat whatever non-poisonous meat they could find. Aura however loved eating new animals. "How is school anyway?" She asked not remembering her own schooling, knowing only vaguely she even went.
"I know you don't but Humans will not likely stop and i have little belief those humans have just played with you WHen the Humans took me they ran tests on others thare and i recall abyss saying humans did research on him as well. So Even if this group did this only once their may be others who will do the same" she said shaking her head, een as she doused the fire and took in the smell of the roasting meat.
"Are you sure you want to go? Things are likely to get very messy and the time would likely come whare you would need to end the life of another to preserve not only your own and mine but anyone we might find under the humans tender fingers" she said, her voice made clear she despised the ide aof humans doing such things to mutants. " Still it would be one heck of a way to train" Aura said tilting her head at the idea.
"I will take you, but you need to promise me you will do as i ask if we end up fighting humans. I have a lot of combat experience" she said honestly, She was worried about Amber getting scared if any real troublle started up. "Did you see any fire arms on anyone?" she asked thinking about the best way to plabn this al out. Aura assumed they would if they were dealing with mutants like Amber who could turn into things.
"as you wish, this way" she said starting in the direction of Sanctuaries dining hall. "Well she's a counselor and she is quite kind. I don't know how she did it, but somehow she kept me out of human hands, so i believe she cared for those around her. SHe lives at the Xavier mansion" she said not really knowing to much herself. Then Aura did recall a gem of advice Mama had told her. "She seemed to find it strange i ate a squirrel...or was it a racoon?" Aura was no longer sure.
"My power lends itself to direct combat and so i know little of spying myself. Only that they gather information and sometimes kill key people. I only know that nature has a role for each of us and gave us our powers to help us with it" she said. A Statement she had heard many many times in her life. Aura beleived nature had chosen roles for each of them and given them their powers to assist them with it. Her own aura was clearly a tool of the front line. Other had destinies more peaceful and some worse.
When they reached the dining hall Aura looked at her friend. "You can order whatever you like here, the hall is fully caterd, Mutant staffing of course." She said with pride. Only one human was ever in Sanctuary and Aura was not sure lisa was human at all. Aura walked up to the window and orderd ice cream, the Catering mutant clearly not noticing Aura had a companion.
Aura's anger flared in such a powerful way, she did not notice her Aura flare up. Her balled fist struck the wall, which would normally have done little, but her anger formed a drill and she knocked a hole through the wall into the hallway before she realized her Aura was even on. Her Aura was not the smooth solid looking structure she normally made, this was fluid and looked like waves across her body. The effect calmed down however when she reestablished her mental control. She was still seething with anger however that humans had even touched her sister much less abused her. Aura was surprised by her own raw anger at the idea her sister had been hurt by humans. Aura tried to force her anger aside, Still she could picture killing each and every one of the damned humans who had even looked at amber wrong. Aura herself had considered fighting bear's which she had only done once, a long time ago and with backup. "Bear's huh?" She said tilting her head.
Aura felt her anger well up again, this time forming a hammer but she quickly dismissed the crudely made aura weapon and sat down on her bed. She waited until Amber was finished but she was still considering how best to make the humans suffer for this atrocity. "My dear sister, if had known...." she said though she stopped to try and drain some of the anger from her body, the attempt failed. With a few deep breaths she continued.
"I will train you, but first i need you to tell me anything that might be useful in finding who and whare they took you. It is very important, humans like that may not leave you alone and they might well come back" she said with a sigh. This was a pressing issue they had to solve right away or it might not matter if she started training amber. "Training will take awhile those humans may well be back sooner then that......" she Said gathering her thoughts further. This threat had to be dealt with and soon.
"I was once in a similar situation, Humans like that may stop with you, but if they want to find you it won't be hard. News of Dinosaurs and Aura wielders get's out fast" she said knowing both would be good at grabbing headlines. "Even if they do not come after you, those types of people may capture another mutant, one less able to fight and they may well let him or her die, it happens often enough. I will need to find these scientists and ensure they will not harm another mutant again" She said trying to be of comfort to her sister. "If you recall little that's ok as well, but any information might be helpful" she said looking away from her sister. "Either way they will regret it when i find them" she said bitterly.
"Defending yourself is a worthy goal and one i am sure you will be good at it. I can help you with that actually if you like, after all humans are often dangerous creatures" she said nodding to her sister. "But with the power to defend yourself however comes the power to kill." she said softly. She did want to scare her sister, but it was true that people often died in combat and killing your opponent was normally the best way to ensure they would not harm you again. Still her sister never seemed the fighter she was and Aura was unsure she was willing to kill at all. She waived her sister into the room with a smile.
"If you like, i can take care of any issues you may be having" she said simply. She did not mind getting dirty for her sister. In fact if it were the right types of people she might even be able to have some fun with them, though she imagined in ways her sister would not care to hear about. "it is no surprise the humans would give you an issue, they are jelous by nature after all" she said shaking her head. It occurred to her that Amber had no idea what Aura did most of the time. She offerd no details but would not lie to her sister either, at least as much as she could without betraying her leader.
"it can be a very cruel world out there and the day will come, when you may have to kill a human to survive. In my experience it some times can not be helped" she said trying to entice her with the littile bit of information. If her sister wanted to defend herself that was fine, but Aura did have to question why she would not seek out someone at the mansion for simple defense. She guessed it could be becuse they were related or maybe that she knew aura could fight, either way she would offer her help. "Transformed theirs not much a human could do to you, but as you are i can see whare you might have issues" she said not trying to deride her but thinking aloud.
"i think i passed by one of those places last time i was at the mall" she said though she left out that she had been at the mall to kidnap a gorgon mutant. She hoped she saw the green skinned mutant again some day and hoped as well she did not take the kidnapping personally, it was after all only a job. Aura never saw a need for business and pleasure to get mixed in with one another. "never been in one though, i don't like stores much" She admitted not even really knowing what the store sold. Aura rarely shopped legally even though she had a good money supply going and sanctuary would help her if needed.
"Im sure it will work out, their rather kind thare" she said honestly. They even followed the laws. "Well you do have the perfect power for spy work. Back in the woods we had a lady with a precognitive sense, she could sense things before they happened. Though Not while she was sleeping, she was the first to die, mortar to the chest" she said a bit bitterly. She had watched each of them fall one by one.
"if you like, Sanctuary has a supply of it, or we could buy it from somware, or just hijack an ice cream truck, still if we buy, is this enough?" she asked reaching into her pocket and pulling out a few dozen small sapphires, some with rings, others lose, the collection was easily several hundred dollars worth. "So it's up to you" she said with a shrug obviously not caring about the rocks in her hands. "Im not sure why people value this stuff" she said looking at it a bit confused.
Aura had for the better part of the day laid in bed, staring at the one picture she had of her past she could be sure of. The only picture that was physical, touchable, rooted in reality. The false memories had not risen in some time, but she knew they waited at the edges of her mind. Aura glanced over at the laptop, almost a sacred relic to her and yet it denied anything Aura tried to do with it. She had no idea what Miracle may have used for a password or even if she should have taken it at all. She even felt guilty every so often on it. Her a lowly solider handling the sacred data of her old master. She could justify taking it but was less sure about using it now.
She was the reason they were dead after all, her failure to obey an order, has cost many their lives and the god's had cursed her by making her live through it all. Sitting up she decided she would have to move on let someone else try and figure out the moral implications of stealing god given information. Making it to her feet she crushed a spider with a quickly made Aura axe, leaving a slash in the wall, half the Spider fell to the floor. "If only the humans would fall so easily" she said to herself
Aura had started cooking in her room, though security had not been keep on removing the smoke detector in her room. She had cured the issue by giving them the remains when it 'broke'. Aura was unsure what Lynx's did in the wild but the human she gotten it through said they were normally food products. Aura heard a knock at her door and kicking the fur pile aside walked to the door and opened it, smiling when she saw the face of her sister. "Hello, i was just cooking" she said cheerfully. Aura did not stop to hink that her bone furnature might bother anyone.
"Well one day you might learn to control it though sadly i have little knowledge of music. " she said honestly not sure what to say about the women's career choice. Aura had no idea about music, she usually ignored it when she heard it, or put an aura sword through the offending device when it was to loud. Aura glanced down at the violin case, another thing she did not recognize in the least before the day.
Aura let out a giggle as she walked behind seyta to help her with her wounds. "yes the women makes me uncomfortable for the same reason she might be able to help you. If you like, after we are done here i can make some calls. Maybe staying next to one of them for life might be odd, but perhaps they could provide you with a few hours of relief" she said trying to keep it positive. It was always sad to hear of mutants who did not enjoy their powers, but she knew most of this was due to the humans way of thinking.
"She lives at a mansion for humans, that promotes humans and mutants working together, they care a little more about one's criminal record their which is why im normally not aloud on the grounds. Sanctuary takes any and all mutants, without question" she said with a shrug. "Actually i met the lady i mentioned, when she accidentally hit me with her car, even with my aura the impact put me in pretty rough shape. " she said though she stayed calm and even a bit amused by the situations.
"We all have our gifts to help us a long our path, and to help others. The police "Aura's voice wavered only a moment before continuing. "well.....they use those people....you know that rescue people from hostage situations. A lovely lady who is not noticed couls save many lifes, mutant and....human if they wanted" Aura said again, her voice shifted to digust upon the word human. Aura addressed Seyta's wounds as she spoke.
"I myself have little love for humanity, you see my parents were human, i was in a fist fight when my Aura manifested, i went to punch the girl in the stomach, instead my powers formed a sword and cut her spine in to. The humans locked me away for a long time, but i was rescued and spent a long time fighting humans in the woods. However the humans eventually killed each of them. I still hear the sound of morter and automatic weapon fire some nights" she said, though she seemed more sad the events had happened then upset. "I was trained to fight and so my responses to humans like that can be aggressive" she went on.
"well i am sorry to hear you say that, your power is as beautiful as you yourself. I would not mind it, as their are many great things one can do with it. you would make an excellent spy for example or a good field medic. People can't pay attention to you if they don't know your thare?" she said trying to cheer the girl up, with her own limited understanding of the woman's powers. "Heck i am normelly very good at knowing my surrounding's and i failed to notice you" she said which was very unuseual.
"I would rather be dead then without my powers, of course the humans wish i were dead anyway" she said though the idea of humanity killing her amused her. She guided the woman to the doors and opened them, revealing the large foyer of sanctuary. "Still sanctuary gets those with all sort's of views on humans and......" she stopped looked at the woman with a large grin. "Actually i know a mutant who might be able to help you out, her power is to make our powers not work. The effect is only a radius thing, but it may make you more comfertable" she said. SHe pointed to a bathroom
Aura considered all the information she had just received, the woman was clearly angry and she was a mutant. Aura did feel bad about running into the mutant woman and wanted to find away to make up for it, though she was unsure as to how. "Yes, my Aura can become quite hard, it protects me" she said though the description of her Aura was a new one. Still she understood her Aura could hurt if somone was hit by it, she was lucky she did not have a blad eout at the time.
"Though i do not about your book, since you are a mutant, i can compensate you for the trouble i have caused. We get human's from time to time who wish to cause us harm, normally their quite easy to scare off. Sanctuary allows no humans within you see as many of our kind have very sad stories becuse of them." she said her voice did littile to hide her disdain for humans in general. "It really is a shame they got away though, they just looked at me and well...." she said with a sigh of disappointment.
Aura's attention wavered again, but she barely managed to maintain her focus on Seyta. Aura saw the money in the case and understood suddenly what the problem might be. "Please come with me, If i have prevented you from gathering money, i can compensate you, or at least give you a place to clean up. I Live at sanctuary" she explained hoping this would help the lady. "Can i ask what your power is?" she said and as she did she raised her hand in front of her, and quickly formed an axe with her aura, then reformed it, into a sword and then an ice cream scoop, all with fluid wate rlike motion of the pink energy that flowed around her.
The girl somehow slipped Aura's mind and she plowed directly into her, though Aura maintained momentum, she lost her footing, and fell to the ground on her side, her Aura keeping her safe from harm' She recalled a girl speaking before as well but what she said seemed fuzzy. As she stood up, she began looking around, trying to find the two she had been chasing. They were long gone though and Aura was glad they were able to cause no harm. Sure she missed the chance to feel the sepcial project she was working on.
"Foolish humans......." she said distracted looking around for the source of the voice, it was only through extreme effort, that Aura was able to attribute to the girl in front of her, but even then she felt her eyes trying to look at other things. "Anti-Mutant gang" Aura said as it became easier for her to focus on the girl. "I am sorry" she said as she did she raised her fingers from her side, she reached out to the aura surrounding her, she was releived to know it she had lost littile strength in it. "How hard did i fall?" she asked.
Standing she offered a hand to the other girl. "My name is Aura, and yours?" she said. "I am sorry i ran into you, i did not see you their....which is unusual" she said disturbed by the fact that she had ran directly into someone. "Are you a mutant?" she asked causally, knowing the other female could see her aura around her. She felt bad about having run into the girl, though she knew she would feel musch better about it, if the girl were some mere human.
Aura was in the Foyer, she liked sitting here sometimes to relax because she got to see many mutants come in and out of the place and it gave her a place to look at some of sanctuaries lovely women. Aura was unsure why but she had grown to enjoy the pastime a lot in the last year, though she usually dismissed it She had even programmed a few fight simulations to make her opponents pleasant to her eye. Shaking her head, Aura let her aura form around her finger and tried to refine it into a key like shape, but she found the detail like the grooves were proving tough. SHe knew she could open most locks by destroying it but she wanted a much more subtle option as well. Like everything though she knew it was going to take practice and time many keys were different and she figured she would likely only be able to use the ability on locks she knew.
Then somthing grabbed her attention, a pair of men entered, one looked a strange shade of green and they were certainly staggering though Aura had no idea from what, nether seemed to be wounded. The Aura saw the bottile in the hand of the lead man who slammed it down on Lisa's desk loudly. To her credit and possibly working at sanctuary for so long, Lisa simply asked what she could help them with. Aura found it hard to make out the drunken man's word's but she knew the anger behind the voice that used the term, "Mutant scum". The Man started getting louder and before long his freind moved in as well.
Aura walked up to the counter. "Are you two mutant's?" she asked pleasantly. The man's friend sneered at her in responce and Aura, quickly formed a hammer and moved closer. Even drunk the man was not foolish enough to try and fight and tapped on his friends shoulder who quickly noticed Aura. Both men turned and ran and after them Aura ran as well, the pink hammer around her wrist still quite visible as she angrily ran after them. Aura heard strange music but had no time to look. Skidding onto the sidewalk Aura saw the source of the music and the two men running at whoever was playing. Aura followed though she let the hammer lose shape and fade from view.
Aura swung but her opponent dodged her strike and then delivered a kick to Aura that knocked her off her feat. Out of reflex Aura's aura flared up to prevent her from impacting the ground directly. Standing up, aura hand grasped her blade and drove it up at the man, stabbing him directly. Climbing to her feet, Aura extracted the blade, though the robot stood, its appearance had lost the clearness it had before. With her next swing, the robot batted her sword away leaving Aura unarmed.
Aura did not like fighting with her bare hands, none of her familiar attacks worked. Aura threw a normal punch but the robot cought it, for a second its hologram cleared perfectly and it and Aura smiled at one another, then Aura's aura flared to life and cut the robots arm off, Aura then made a quicks ecound strike which nearly cut the robot into two pieces. Looking back to her new ound freind she wonderd how she was doing.
"Get up, the humans won't stop shooting simply becuse your down" Aura said trying to encurage the girl in her own way. She knew very littile about teaching anything. In fact she had once been told she could never lead anything. Aura would ahve tought the girl but all of Aura's attacks relied on her Aura which to Aura's knolage was rather unique. Aura chose not to get involved and instead decided to watch and see how the girl could learn under pressure.
Aura smiled brightly as Cree opinion on humans and nodded approvingly. "Agreed, Humans fear us because we have the power they would want for them selfs and they know what they would do with it." she said quite happy to here cree's response. "i to share a poor view in humanity. Foul over populated animals can not even comprehend their time on this planet is over" she said shaking her head. "You won't find to many of them near sanctuary.
"I think you will be quite at home here then and red as well" she said not sure what girl was like. She seemed so out of it that Aura was forced to consider the redhead might be more hurt then the thought. Still she was sure the girl would be fine with a little bit on sanctuaries mercy.
Aura felt the car come to a stop in front of the golden doors she had learned to love and to call her home. "Sanctuary the most beautiful structure in this city" she said her voice full of passion even as she opened the door for the others to get out. Several staff were already on the grounds, to assist them. Aura stepped back a bit to let them help. Still she stayed quite close, trying to make sure she would be able to follow the girls.
Aura hoped they would like it here. Almost out of reflex Aura let her Aura come into view though she did not make it solid. She simply preferred to let her power be free whenever it did not need to be confined. It was anatural part of them, as natural as the sky and the sun.
"Agreed, been harder not to kill these...insects then to knock em around" Aura said even as she delivered an Aura punch to a man's nose, breaking it. It was very hard not to simply ram a sword through his head and be done with him, or to teach him to fly, out the window. Aura entertained such indulgent thoughts tried to grab her from behind and did manage to get her hands behind her. Aura smiled as a blunt peice of her Aura slammed into the man's jaw from her head, making him let go quickly. The man looked ready to try aagin. Aura decided to see if this animal understood his position. "I prefer my hands and feet with my aura becuse they give me th most range but i can form it from any point on my body, i could have gutted you like a fish" she said witha alugh even as she formed a six inch spike from her stomach. The man turned and bolted. Aura would have to look into just how one gutted something like a fish some day.
Aura was grateful to all the gods today. A newscrew had come up the stair's but she was still out of view. SHe dropped her aura quickly and made for the room Tasean had come from. Hopefully he would not mind. Aura tried the handle and was even happier it was unlocked she slipped incide and quietly shut the door behind her. If Aura got on Tv again, aura was pretty sure the police would be hauling her to jail and worse, lori would be quite angry with her, both for having to break her out and for being in the spotlight at another bad situation.
Aura looked around the office for a place to hide further and found little, So Aura walked behind the desk and sat behind it on the floor, hoping the police would ahve no need to come in here. If they did they would have short careers. Aura would try her best to escape and at this height she was pretty sure the window was a last resort to avoid capture. Aura scatched at her wrists as she tried to here if anything was claming down.
