The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Aura stood tall, she hated subways far to many humans for her liking. Still she needed to use it today, it was then she saw someone running and two girls chasing him. Aura almost by instinct called to her powers, but stopped as their were far to many humans here for that. As the theif ran past her the robed woman, threw a punch at him wrapping her hand in a quick flash of pink Aura, but he was quicker then she thought, she her blade struck the pack instead.. She was then bumbed into by somone near by and lost sight of the robber.
She felt bad, it was not often someone managed to get past her that easily. She should have aimed for a vital organ she thought. Aura looked back at the girls pursueing the theif. They both had nice long hair and she found them both atractive. Aura could only hope they were mutants, she made her way to approach them. She figured if they were human she could blend into the crowd. "Sorry he got by me" she said softly. "I hope he got nothing of value?" she said.
"Yea; back at sanctuary she is only around mutants, did u know their are no more humans at sanctuary, except Lisa and ith how she works im not so sure shes human anyway" she said. It was true that she did not restrict solkat's movements in any way and very frequently she wonderd outside. "No matter whare she goes she always seems to come back" she went on placing the skunk upon her shoulders whare it quickly curled up like a fluffy striped scarf with it's tail around her neck.
"I can help thare" she said pulling the stolen honey combs out of her backpack, some larve were still alive. "Honey is good way to keep your energy up, been awhile since i found any. It's not as filling as goat though" she said breaking off a chuck and eating it. She then fed a bit of it to the skunk, which simply dropped it. "The bee's are not a fan but they can't hurt me while my aura's up" she explained, offering a peice.
"Yes their are many new mutants in sanctuary, it seems when some part ways others come to fill their spots. It's an unnerving cycle, but it does bring some beautiful girls to" she said having never connected those two things together before. "Not that i have much luck with them either" she said shaking her head.
"Last time i drove, i drove me and abyss into a pool" she said with a smile though the story was very true.
Aura stood in the remains of a bar, not much was left in tact, and a robot over twice the height of Aura was advancing on her. Aura Had originally fought two of the robot's but she had taken out one, but this was seemed smarter. Aura wondered if the Order's computers could learn. Looking Around Aura could see no cover left, with a swear word she formed an Aura drill on her left hand and formed an an Aura axe in the other. Aura dodged the robot again and rushed it, driving the Axe, into it's chest, pulling her other hand back, she thrust it forward only to have the robot grab her and pulls her away. It raised her up to eye level and began to squeeze. Aura cired out as she felt her AUra start to fail, unable to resist. Quickly Aura let her weapons fade back into her Aura, and fomed a blade at her stomch and moved it up slowly cutting through each finger, untill Aura fell back to the ground, breathing hard.
The Robot Seemed unfazed by the wounds and kept coming, sparks comming out of it's severd fingers. It tried to punch Aura again but Aura moved out of the way just in time and cut through the foot of the robot, and at last it to fell and stopped moving. The Var faded away and Sanctuary staff quickly began to take care of the robot's remains, many of them kept their distance from her. "Getting better, no broken bones this time" she said as she moved to the room counsol and turned the safeties back on.
Aura sat down and got her water bottle, she was training for more live fight she had managed to arrange. It had to be kept secret and Aura was not quite sure Lori would approve, but she had never given an order against it. With a smile she downed the water bottle and stood up, walking back to the counsel. She stood thinking of what program to use next.
"I understand" she said slipping the laptop back into her pack. "Im Not much with machines either" she admitted. Their had never been the time to learn to much about them. "You may well be right and if worse comes to worse i can always hunt down a human" she said with a shrug agreeing with Geo's look on things. "I knew a mutant for awhile who could access the Internet with his head, but he is no longer around. I robbed a bank with him once" she said remembering the person. He had been a mansion boy but he had been willing to play against the humans to when it suited him.
Aura heard a scream from down on the path and smiled as several of the humans ran off, when a large fluffy black animal stood with it's tail facinbg whare the humans went, though it had not fired. Aura smiled and after the humans were gone quickly made her way down to the road and scooped the skunk into her arms. "Was wondering whare you got to" she said treating it much like a cat. "People tend to shy away from solkat here, found her at the zoo" she said in explanation.
"A bunch of animal mutants struck the zoo a long time ago and freed the animals, it was a fun fight but this one stuck with me since" she said scratching it behind the ear. "People say it's a skunk but i don't see the diffrence between it and a cat" she said with a shrug. She pulled somthing out of her backpack whcih looked very much like a wallet with a lot of dried blood. "I found this, it has money in it, i took the driver card already though" she said already having her trophy. "I don't much get money myself, never needed it" she said honestly.
"Agreed, i miss Syn and Abyss, abyss even adopted me" she said with pride ignoring the comment about being twisted, not quite understanding it. Isabel and others are still around but things are quite different now. I find it hard to watch killing humans, it's almost reflex" she siad simply as if talking of deer. Aura felt terrable incide suddenly as she realized how badly she was talking of her current leader. She knew she should not but the last few weeks had changed something in her.
"My powers emerged in a fight i had with a human girl, i went to punch her, instead my power formed a sword and cut the girl nearly in to, killing her. The Humans then threw me in a cage and my parents never botherd to look for me. Miracle lead a force of mutants who freed me and others and then began to train us to use our powers in combat. To be soilders for nature, Miracle tought us that Mutants were created to replace humans as the sentinent species of the planet, reducing human's status to that of mere animals. For two winters she lead us, untill i failed my orders and everyone died in the result." she said looking down, the shame of the event evident on her face. "She could heal and was near ageless though she drank quite a bit.
"My squad was retreating from automatic weapon fire and my secound was struck in the leg, standing orders were to kill anyone unable to make it back, but i could not and the Humans captured him and made him talk, 12 hours later the mortars blew apart the barricks, i was pinned beneath the rubble and could only watch as my friends fell one by one. I buried each of them myself" she said unsure how else to explain who the woman was.
"Do you have any luck breaking into computers?" she asked curiously.
"It is true that i had more then once considered hunting down some of the farmers for sport, but instead i simply ate the goat at night and left a prize with the bones that made the farmer soil himself" she said with a giggle. "At least it tasted better then that dog i ate a few days ago" she said with a shrug. "Still other then a hunting ground i would be board here and worse i would likely die of old age living here" she said not liking the idea of dieing natural death.
"if you need more money, these filthy humans could always lend us theirs, i lack any myself. Was in a dance in the forest, humans can be such poor shots" she said sounding dissopointed. "Or we could just rob a gas station or two" she said with a smile. "Either way if i can lend aide i will, im not much on the road but i can cut through things well" she said having her aura quickly flare up around her hand and a form a sword. A moment later the sword reformed into a chainsaw before it suddenly lost shape, and faded out of view.
"Lori has remade the order into more organized but less brutal order. Insurance fills the orders bank rolls and things have gotten more subtle. She frowns on large scale human killing for example, but she is slowly pushing humans away from sanctuary and replaceing them with our mutant brethren. But i will let lori fill you in on the details, my information is old and i have not been at sanctuary in some time" she said honestly folding her arms in front of her. Once again her thoughts wonderd to Meld and hoped the metal mutant was all right, she had grown use to fighting with her time and time again.
"my Memories have long given me, diffrent accounts of the same event, this laptap "she said patting her backpack. "Holds detailed information on everything miracle did and detailed profiles and historys on each of us who served Miracle in the woods. I need to know which memories are real as they have more then once clowded by sight. With that resolved, i can concentrate on getting stronger" she said as she watched a car pass by in the distence.
"It has my friend, to long but i am glad to see you well" she said at him. Then looking around she continued. "it's a nice town, quite and people keep to them selfs, no one even screams when i walk outside in daylight." she said as she took a deep drag from the joint. "So what you been up to out here?" she asked casually as she cleaned up. truthfully she could see the appeal of towns like this which seemed almost cut off from larger cities, a cop had even waived to her.
"Feels weird to be in civilization again" she said and in truth this was the most populated place she had been in, in months. A week ago she had crossed the border and had mostly stuck to less populated area's. She wanted to get back to Sanctuary without leaving a swath of death and destruction if she could. True she would not have minded killing every human she could reach but the order's goals were more then pleasurable destruction.
She wondered what Lori would say as she and geo walked back through the doors. She had not intended to be gone at all and it had been awhile since she had even been in the country, much less was able to contact sanctuary. "Any plans after we get back?" she asked trying to make conversation. Aura watched as a farmer passed them on a tractor but barely more then waived to them. Aura barely managed to keep her Aura from flareing up, this was no place to start a fight.
Aura had no idea how long she had been away from Sanctuary. She had been separated from Meld some time ago as well and had finally decided to try reporting back. Having lost one ally Aura had rediscovered an old ally. Aura was at the outskirts of town looking up at a good size bee nest. Hungry and board she let her Aura flare into being and formed a sword and with one stroke cut sown the low tree branch holding the hive, which struck the ground and broke open. She did not get to see the contents of her hunt. Hundreds of bee's swarmed her and Aura knew they were trying to sting her. With a smile aura clapped her hand's together crushing a dozen of the insects in one shot. While Aura could not be stung she also could not eat.
Aura then chose to fall back, and simply crush the bee's on her back, then rolled. With Most of the insects dead she went back to the nest to discover their was not much honey in it at all. Picking up the nest Aura extracted several of the larger cones. Looking around, aura slid the white hood of her silk robe back, revealing her long unkept brown ahir, which looked in serious need of a cut. Opening her backpack she found a bag and put the combs in, to let the remaining grubs die off. She never had found a liking to them.
Aura smiled as she watched her pet skunk, Solkat walk up to the fallen swarm and begin to nibble at their bodies. With her pet occupied she turned and began walking closer to the small town, looking at the address she had written down. She noticed people looked at her without recognizing who she was. Still they seemed annoyed by her presence and Aura wonderd if they liked outsiders much. Without a visable motion to them she kept walking, it never ocurred to Aura what the people were really looking at was the sheathed sword on her back.
Keeping to the outside of the actual town she found a small grassy hill and sat down. She had wonderd what geo ha been up to all this time away, he had been gone way before she left. Looking up at the sky, she pulled a book and some papers and rolled herself a joint. Looking around as she waited she smiled to herself an once again considerd the laptop she had gotten at her old teams base. She had not found any way to get more then basic information from it.
Aura watched as the Mutants scattered and tried to flee and others simply panicked. This was no army and these were not orderly troops, this was chaos at it's finest. Aura watched as Mutants threw weaker mutants aside to escape and even watched helplessly as a young Mutant was trampled under foot of a mutant with rock like skin. Aura wanted to act but the young mutant was quickly enshrouded by the feet of a mob. As Mutants rose into the Air, aura's eyes went wide, she said nothing in hope she was wrong, but she saw as a winged mutant rose high into the air, only to have a bullet rip through his wing, dropping him onto the tent like roof of a food stand.
Aura was pretty sure Lori would hang her for this and since this had become such a blatant public display, she had already resigned herself to accept any punishment that might result. Meld was right however they had to save who they could from this disgusting attack. Aura nodded to meld but was knocked onto her back by a spray of gunfire. She got up as the Helicopter passed over head. "Your right, their will be time to put the humans down like the animals they are later" she said simply the blunt attack had hurt her but their own lifes did not matter.
Aura Suddenly moved and deflected a bullet targeting a mutant who seemed to be a living cloud. Aura tried to talk to a number of mutants but most seemed to panicked to even stop a few even pushed her aside or just ran into her as she tried. She had no idea what she was doing and not for the first time she wished she had brought a bomb or to. Aura sniffed the air and her eyes confirmed what her nose told her, smoke was riseing nearby which meant fire. "It occurs to me i have no idea how to lead a panicked group anyware" she called back not even sure meld was even whare she had been standing anymore.
"Why thank you" Aura said a bit taken aback by the compliment. It was unusual for her to get such a compliment, more so when not prompted by her own. She considered her follow mutant carefully as she sat down. "I am Aura" she said lifting the arm she had made the blade on, the blade melted back into her over all Aura. "My power" she said lifting her hand whare she had the blade a few moments earlior, she formed an axe, and then a drill which began to spin before melting back into her aura and forming an Ice cream scoop.
"It is nice to meet you, i do apologize for my outburst, it's been a stressful few months" she said scratching the back of the skunks head. She had never met this mutaant before but the term scorpion mutant made her very curious, untill she realized one glareing fact. "What's a scorpion?" she asked blinking. The word she had heard before and she was pretty sure it was an animal but as for what kind, that was another story all together.
"i have been trying not to hunt down humans, but not killing the filthy animals is hard and it takes away a good stress reliever" she said honestly. The Pink outline around her body thickened a bit before thinking out to a fain outline around her body and then slowly began to fade entirely from view, dissopearing from the tips of her fingers last. SHe looked down at the hole she had made a bit ashamed of the outbursts damage now that she looked at it.
"Adapted?" Aura questioned the term sounded famillier but she had no idea where she might have heard it before. She was still considering the question when the first bullets streaked by her face. She heard another hit Meld. Looking around Aura was unsure whare the bullets had some from. As Aura scanned the skyline of the place her thoughts breifly wonderd to what Lori would think of the situation but in her understanding she waqs trying to protect their people, not kill animals.
Aura calmed herself even as panic began to spread to the crowd surrounding them. She brought her aura out quickly in full veiw wanting to be seen. Even as She did, she formed aura blades at her wrists and made to quick slashes to the dress, probably higher then appropriate. She wnated to be target, after all if people shot at her at least she could hold it off awhile, she could say little for anyone else around them.
"I get the feeling this hing might have been safer without us" she said as another bullet struck her Aura but this time she had cought the glimpse of a gun, atop a wooden tower built for speakers. And then Aura heard somthing she liked even less, the sounds of helicopter blades in the distence. Not for the first time she wished she had a ranged option to repond quickly, but simply crushing the tower could mean wounding their own people and she ahd not brought gun with her, not that she wa smuch good with it.
"ANy ideas" SHe asked as she felt somone push by her, her instict was to strike but she saw it was a mutant with a snake like body. Aura had none for once that would not wound doizens of panicked people all around them.
Aura nodded, taking her freinds warning of safety to heart, witha relaxing breath her Aura flared up around her body, enough to outline her body. Aura skipped her usual creativity with it's appearance letting it emerge all at once. "The issue is, if this does turn into a dance, not only will we need to check our targets but we can't assume all of these mutants have full control over their powers, and it may be better to assume that even less will have it, in a panic" she said, recalling her early training days.
Aura's eyes wonderd over the area, the place made her worry. Her eyes were looking to locate possible hiding places for attackers. Breaking her eyes from her scan she smiled at Meld's tail and not for the first time wished she could get one just like it. "You look, as comfortable as i am" she as she looked around as more mutants then she realized were in the area showed up. Aura saw many that looked human to but Aura decided for her sake and for the orders of Lori,
"I had an old friend back in the woods, she could sence incoming attacks a few moments before they happoned, that batterd blade i showed you when you forged mine, was hers" she said looking away from her friend. Aura had never been able to beleive she was not responceable for the deaths of so many of her comrades, not that she ahd tried, no, she was possative it had all been her fault.
At last Aura smiled, happily and her Aura grew thicker. "Have you ever seen such beauty, Mutants free and mostly unafraid. This is a glimpse at the world those who come after us may well open their eyes to" she said believing they would never see the day their people finally won the war over the humans. "This type of mission may not be forte, but i am glad i got to see this" she said as she smiled at a passing avien mutant with long elagent brown wing's and wonderful sharp beak.
Aura adjusted her hand bag which looked large for the event, but was much to small to contain anything like her sword. "I was in the mansion a littile while back, after a woman hit me with her car. She was curious, she could nullify mutant powers but kept me from the hands of the police, weather that was for my safety or the police's i have no idea" she said with a laugh. It was true that imprisoning her might well lead to for more death then letting her run rampant.
Aura had not slept in a few day's she simply could not. SHe would lay down and sleep simply failed to come. Her thoughts were distracting but they had never quite kept her up this much. So she sat in the Sanctuary's recreation room flipping through TV channels, which failed to turn anything to interest her. Not for the first time she wonderd when the last time she had been in the room was, and could not clearly recall, she was simply to busy with training to pay it much mind.
Aura was startled and her Aura quickly formed a dagger in each hand, however she breathed a sigh of relief when she realized it was just her cat, or skunk, though Aura still had no idea how to tell the two apart, other then cats seemed more colorful. The Skunk took no notice of her reaction and simply leapt up onto the couch beside her, qhich aura scratched her behind the ear. "You need to find a way to warn me" she said shaking her head, sending her rather unkempt hair sweeping her back.
"Maybe i should go and start a fight" she said aloud more to the skunk then anyone else who might have been close. Sitting thare she watched her hand a sher aura flowed into a drill shape, then without stopping it's spin it turned into a buzz saw and then a sword and then an axe. The exercise usually calmed her down, but that was not the case today. With a primal scream, she drove the axe deep into the couch she was sitting, the blade went through stuffing and wood as if it had never been their at all.
