The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Here is a safe Haven where ruthless examination of reality will be rewarded. Those invited to join offer something greater not only to themselves but society. These individuals have sought to make leaders of themselves and improve the world upon which we live to form a place of safety, a Haven. Members enjoy working hard, and playing even harder, enjoying that which they have accomplished. Only a few know the Haven is truly for the best of their membership: mutants.
Haven is a public organization, partnered with Hadden’s Havens and other businesses, that functions as a social society, charitable outreach program, and political activism club. Members serve in these various aspects and are aided in doing so. However, well while meaning and achieving much of this level is a membership front for the true faction of Haven.
The true membership of the Haven faction are mutants that strive for the betterment of society, but with a focus on the mutant need, education, and protection. Even faction members are not necessarily aware of all aspects of the faction. In fact, plausible deniability of all activities in the club is an intended construct. See Haven Membership Details below.
On an OOC level, this is meant to be a slightly more well-meaning Hellfire Club with a dedication to mutant needs and ideals while offering options for intrigue, social interaction, combat, and more. Moderate Mutant First is a good summation of the intention as not all faction members will know full details, providing protection and secrecy for less moral or ethical actions. We’ll be promoting thread and plot activities through various levels of the club based on interest and activity.
Haley Vaultami – Haley a.k.a. Secret Keeper is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Staff for the Haven organization. She is also a telepath, capable of building a secret between linked individuals that inhibits it from being revealed and should one reveal the secret, all others become aware who did so. Revealed secrets are intended to be leveraged for major plot devices. Haley / Secret Keeper assists the Inner Echelon as necessary, especially when adding new members to the faction.
Lyle Rohrst – Lyle a.k.a. Blueprint is the Building Manager at Haven’s headquarters. He is in charge of facility operations and security over the space through his staff. He’s the one to contact for planning meeting or event space, using Inferno for a gala, or locating where someone’s office is.
Amanda Overhiser – Amanda a.k.a. Architect is the technological advisor within Haven. Her predecessors pushed her for means toward war or even how to control mutants, but her interests are primarily education (her father was a teacher) and protection (her mother was a defense attorney). As such she’s not involved in the field work of the faction. Instead she uses her skill to improve security systems and training facilities for Haven, nicknamed CLASS: Character, Leadership, Academics, Service Success.
How to Join
Thank you for sharing an interest in promoting a safe Haven for the world! Becoming a member of Haven is different than being a full member of the Haven faction. One must be invited to join Haven, though those who complete a program at Hadden’s Havens are extended membership. Increasing levels of membership can come through interest, service, or direct invitation depending on the individual.
At this time, please reach out to Tempest (or another member of the Inner Echelon) via PM so as to plot out your character’s membership or their full introduction to the faction. In character methods could be a Haven faction member introducing you to a faction leader of the IE, a chance encounter, or your character making a name for themselves in mutant leadership. Because of the various levels of membership there can be varied plot devices used and activity/participation will differ as well.
Faction Titles
Inner Echelon – various titles are used by the Inner Echelon leadership. See below in Faction Leadership Structure.
Faction Member – these individuals are PCs and the faction NPCs that are aware of the secret mutant-focused goals of the faction
Special Member – these are various NPCs and perhaps PCs with knowledge of the special offerings within Haven like the fight club
Front Member – Numerous NPCs and some PCs are a member of Haven, the public organization that volunteers, works for change, and helps the community and society at large. They are not aware of the special membership benefits, the faction, or the Inner Echelon. They are not actual faction members but are instead considered members of the front.
Location of Faction HQ
Haven Headquarters
Haven’s headquarters is a converted mansion sky rise located at 840 Fifth Avenue, north of 66th Street and facing Central Park. A formal double entry opens into a beautiful marbled lobby. The front desk caters to business needs while the concierge handles member requests. Dining and event space are located on the first few floors as well as entrance from the Lobby to the Inferno nightclub.
The Inferno nightclub is reserved for members of Haven or their guests. The latest in sound and light fill the club with various entertainment depending on the event or manager’s desires. An elevated VIP section provides higher tier members, celebrities, famous athletes, special guests and more private seating and entertaining areas. Two bars serve the patrons while a tantalizingly illuminated dance floor will keep patrons moving.
Sub-basement levels include space for full faction members as well as the training facilities CLASS. Luxurious apartments exist at higher levels for member needs or permanent stays while the top levels are reserved for Faction meeting needs, the Inner Echelon offices, and the penthouse suite of its founder: Devon Hadden.
CLASS (Character, Leadership, Academics, Service Success) are the training facilities located in sub levels of Haven, restricted to faction members. It is managed by Amanda Overhiser / the Architect and its entry restricted by security systems. The latest in synthetic androids, holographic technology, and automated scenario systems coupled with the Architect’s innovative design through her intellect and power make this personalized training facility the greatest mutant training resource of its time. You can also use it for regular educational needs, such as to learn the stars in the solar system by creating a starry sky projection or run a simulation for group training. It is one of the many aspects Haven provides for personal growth.
Other Faction Locations (if applicable)
The Foundry This working Foundry refines various metals and alloys during the day as a legitimate business. Some faction members may dwell here, especially those interested in warmer scenery or an undisclosed location. The Haven’s fight club operates secretly out of the Foundry. This is an offering for those special members of the front and the faction.
Various Other Small Clubs Various other small clubs, black key, specialty, secretive underground sexual-based clubs, etc. also exist. These are fade to black in nature and are not hosted at the Haven location. This is an offering for those special members of the front and the faction.

Faction Manifesto
Faction Philosophy/Goals
Promote mutant needs / wants by:
Encouraging and developing mutants in their abilities, society involvement, and leadership
Promote activism and volunteer/charity in the community of New York City and beyond with primary regard for mutants
Work for social change for various needs (special, minority) with primary regard for mutants
Actively rescue mutants in need, especially those being exploited for their gifts
Stop those individuals or organizations, including governments, that seek to limit, dominate, or damage mutant kind by whatever means necessary
This is expanded on by the faction membership and leadership details below.
Haven Membership Details
Faction Members
Members of the Haven faction are mutants, composed almost entirely of PCs who have expressed interest in serving mutant kind and bettering the world to promote a Haven for them. They are aware of the true goals (though not all missions) of Haven, may act on missions deemed appropriate, or that they have an interest in, gain full access to all Haven’s benefits and CLASS for training. They must swear on their membership responsibilities in the presence of Secret Keeper and at least 3 other Inner Echelon members.
IMPORTANT: The Haven faction activities are a secret. Its membership, training rooms, CLASS, missions, etc. are part of that secret. This will change in the future, but should be plotted out due to implications to membership and changes that will for all involved and even the site at large. Please reach out to the faction members regarding such a plot so we can plan collaboratively.
All Faction Members are aware of the following:
Help mutantkind primarily before humanity : This is not to say that humanity is deemed less worthy necessarily, though some may believe that. Instead, the focus of Haven profits, contributions, self-help and charity is to empower, protect, and serve the needs of mutants.
Actions taken for mutantkind : This includes distinct action and strategy to better the lives of mutants as directed by all or some of the Inner Echelon.
For example, some Inner Echelon members may declare a politician (nonmember of Haven) to be a threat due to upcoming anti-mutant legislation. They decide a functionary member of the faction should handle it. That functionary may hint to others to ruin that politician financially, possibly hire a mercenary to attack them, hire a hacker to dig up dirt, or take action themselves…
While Tempest is the founder and primary leader of Haven, it is the Inner Echelon that helps govern the many aspects of Haven as its secret leadership. These members are responsible for Haven’s actions though not all Inner Echelon members know the steps taken to achieve a goal decided upon. This is intentional to protect the club’s interests and the nature of some missions. The Inner Echelon deals in knowledge and goals for mutant kind in order to dictate action through its influence and power (political, financial, martial).
Tempest and/or members of The Inner Echelon will be leveraged ICly for helping with recruiting and plot activities. Thus, the faction’s activities do not rely on Tempest solely but by the individual actions and collective activity of the Inner Echelon. Tempest is not required for Inner Echelon activities and OOCly generating character recruitment or plots. ICly he is notified of meeting minutes/activities by Secret Keeper. Finally, major plot points will be ICly “reviewed by the Inner Echelon” while OOCly it is planed with the player base and MODs.
Titles in the Inner Echelon (excluding Tempest as the Founder) are based on the 12 archetypes derived by Carl Gustav Jung: www.soulcraft.co/essays/the_12_common_archetypes.html . This title should allude to the passions, purpose, directives of the individual.
Inner Echelon Members (Title: Name) 1. Founder (and President of the Haven organization): Devon “Tempest” Hadden 2. The Rebel: Svetlana Sergeyeva
Faction Expectations
Hedonism : Be present in Haven locations and activities. Train hard, work hard, play harder. Attend seminars; training in CLASS, strive to join the Inner Echelon, get in a fight club, dance at the Inferno, etc. Your efforts are highly rewarded for your personal enjoyment.
Activists : Be an activist! Members should be actively working against legislation or groups that limit civil rights (primarily mutant), inhibits minorities, impugns social justices, or attacks freedoms.
Volunteer : All members should be helping others to grow and learn or they could be involved in the community/society making a difference. This can include training mutants at the fight club / CLASS, volunteering at Sanctuary, tutoring children, or assisting various charity groups. Faction members are leaders in society.
Engage : Meet new people of the site. You never know what ones might find a good home in Haven. But also engage with existing players, primarily around plots that fulfill our goals or site wide plots! As movers and shakers Havenites tend to know a lot of people and move through multiple channels.
Nurture : Inner Echelon leaders should nurture the membership and encourage new leaders. This can be in personal training threads, plots that further Haven goals, or even something meant for the IE member's personal plan. Members should help nurture front members and new Havenites.
Finally, enjoy the possible plot levels this faction presents: social, intrigue, physical, combat, and the philosophical. Haven is uniquely positioned to occasionally work with and cross other factions.
Evergreen Faction Thread Ideas:
Mutant in Trouble : Havenites are sent to help a mutant in trouble. While it can be a mutant in trouble with a METAbot, the X-Men might be involved there. Haven goes where the X-Men can't like when a mutant is held in a sanctioned government location or by a manipulative, controlling family.
Education and Training : Haven is primarily for educating and training leaders in society. For the faction it's about empowering mutants to serve mutant needs and help Haven's goals. A thread in CLASS developing your abilities for your next power growth, helping a new member to the site learn about their abilities while out in the woods, or educating misinformed individuals as to the rights of mutants are good examples.
Information Gathering : Haven is informed and makes its plans long ahead, carefully crafting the future it wishes for society. This can be a thread to get information from politicians pushing a bill, presenting information to members of the Inner Echelon, sneaking through a facility for details on the latest 'cure', or discovering details of any ongoing plots.
Differences from groups:
This is for the MRO primary universe. The AV perspective provides a clear difference for those playing in Haven there.
NYPD / government : Haven has much in line with the NYPD's hard working employees but often will challenge government. Haven does the illegal at times if in the interest of society and mutant needs.
X-Men : Much like the NYPD or government there are things they can't do that Haven can and will. Also the X-Men act in the open and are again limited by this exposure. Haven encourages and acts in secret, often manipulating to the desired future.
SUPER : SUPER works against mutants in a way no member of Haven would tolerate.
Syndicate : While the Syndicate and Haven share in interest in mutant superiority and needs, Haven doesn't wish the extinction of humans, nor do they outright plot against them. Haven acts in secret, developing specific plans that may arc into the future while the Syndicate is open, violent, and wishes the destruction of humankind.
Humans : Haven helps humans through various social/volunteer programs. Many humans make up the front of Haven, but none are faction members. Some Haven members believe mutants are completely superior to humans, but not always. Haven encourages the promotion of mutants and their needs without outright decrying humanity.
Adapteds : The Adapted are like mutants in that they have an ability they need to learn to control Adapteds could join the faction though not without a careful consideration process. Their abilities could be useful in helping a mutant with a dangerous ability slowly gain control, very useful for Haven's future.
How to Interact with other groups:
MRO-verse perspective:
NYPD / government : "Specific government contacts we can trust, like Devon's friends in city hall. But not most. The White House is specifically opposed to our goals. We have some NYPD allies and even one member but we protect our NYPD allies by not disclosing all (or any of) the details."
X-Men : "Again many of these people are our friends. We should work with them where we can. It's possible we'll run into them in the future, but we don't want to be open to the public like they are. Keep the details from them, but help when we share a goal. Their government involvement strains things."
SUPER : "This is an abomination. These mutants and adapteds need mental help and therapy. Restrain if you can, but stop them by any means necessary if lives are threatened. Provide any information to the Inner Echelon."
Syndicate : "They are single minded and out for profit. Work with them in the short if you must to achieve your goal but know their goals only run parallel to our in the short term. Their extremism and desire for violence will bring ruin on those in association with them. Avoid if possible. Provide any information to the Inner Echelon."
Humans : "Help where you can, educate as much as possible. Should there be need, restrain or control. If your life or a mutant's is threatened, do what you must to stop the situation."
Adapteds : "Be friendly, remember they have abilities they were born with too. They can help us help mutants with extreme abilities. Be sure to get their name and any information on them you can and provide it for the Inner Echelon."
AV-verse perspective:
NYPD / government : "Useful. Buy 'em off, get 'em hooked on drugs, offer them women, men, whatever. They're pawns in this game."
X-Men : "They are losing this battle rather than winning the game. Help them if it means saving a mutant, but don't get caught or trapped by their cult-like hope."
SUPER : "Kill 'em, but make sure they aren't a double agent."
Syndicate : "Business partners. Treat them well. Make sure they enjoy themselves."
Humans : "Okay maybe the NYPD and the government are more like knights and bishops. These are pawns. Or maybe they're the game board? Either way, disposable but do get their money and anything else useful from them first."
Adapteds : "Useful in the right situation but don't cry over spilled blood."

Haven Membership Front
Not all members of Haven join the true faction though they are part of Haven and consider themselves so ICly. This is the level at which the social club front is maintained and most revenue is generated. These “members” are invited talented artists, celebrities, grant winners, politicians, business professionals, as well as members/former patients of Hadden’s Havens. Membership Front members are aware of the following goals:
1. Help people/volunteer for the community. 2. Enjoy self-help activities and teach political empowerment. 3. Enjoy leisure activities/entertainment. 4. All members enjoy access to Inferno, a night club at the main location
These members continue their good works in volunteering and activism in various aspects of society while investing in the Haven organization, often through sizable donations from celebrities and politicians. The majority at this level will be NPCs with a minor, superficial involvement in the public activities of the Haven organization and not its secret activities.
PCs can be a part of this level of Haven. i.e. you make a celebrity human player they can be a front member that isn’t actually part or aware of the faction. “Members” include: 1. Rebecca Grey-Morris 2. Serena Anne Rivers 4.
Some special “members” are afforded additional access. These members swear on their membership responsibilities in the presence of Secret Keeper and at least 3 other full faction members. Offerings include: 1. a secret underground fight club (not hosted at Haven location) 2. secret underground sexual-based clubs (fade to black in nature; not hosted at Haven location) 3. access to drugs, the finest bars/night clubs (VIP to Inferno) 4. other morally or ethically flexible activities (as required)
