The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Seyta looked around the foyer of the Sanctuary as she headed for the bathroom. The place was bigger than she expected, a cross between a church and a mansion. There was a welcome desk, a few couches and tables, strangely inviting. Stepping into the bathroom Seyta set her violin down and used the mirror to check her back for any cuts. Frowning, she saw two across her left shoulder blade, they were shallow but the scrapes went right through her tattoo. Getting that redone would be annoying, it had been long enough since she got it that fixing the scrapes would mean redoing the entire set of wings to the shade of black matched. Rolling her eyes at them she called through the door. "I wan't to hear more about this friend of yours, but I need a few band aids first... and some help, I cant reach the cuts on my back."
"About your friend, you said it was a radius thing, so only people a specific distance are effected, like my power. Seems like a possibility, but having to stand next to the same person for the rest of my life would get weird." She chuckled thinking it over, the idea of it would get very awkward. Still, it would be helpful, in a few situations at least. IF someone can get Seyta noticed she might be able to actually start her music career, might be able to have a life outside of her borrowed VIP access to clubs where she never talked to people. In Seyta's mind, mentioning Aura's friend had almost completely cleared her of the wrong doings from before... although she still intended to make due on the ice cream scoop she had seen.
"Well one day you might learn to control it though sadly i have little knowledge of music. " she said honestly not sure what to say about the women's career choice. Aura had no idea about music, she usually ignored it when she heard it, or put an aura sword through the offending device when it was to loud. Aura glanced down at the violin case, another thing she did not recognize in the least before the day.
Aura let out a giggle as she walked behind seyta to help her with her wounds. "yes the women makes me uncomfortable for the same reason she might be able to help you. If you like, after we are done here i can make some calls. Maybe staying next to one of them for life might be odd, but perhaps they could provide you with a few hours of relief" she said trying to keep it positive. It was always sad to hear of mutants who did not enjoy their powers, but she knew most of this was due to the humans way of thinking.
"She lives at a mansion for humans, that promotes humans and mutants working together, they care a little more about one's criminal record their which is why im normally not aloud on the grounds. Sanctuary takes any and all mutants, without question" she said with a shrug. "Actually i met the lady i mentioned, when she accidentally hit me with her car, even with my aura the impact put me in pretty rough shape. " she said though she stayed calm and even a bit amused by the situations.
"We all have our gifts to help us a long our path, and to help others. The police "Aura's voice wavered only a moment before continuing. "well.....they use those people....you know that rescue people from hostage situations. A lovely lady who is not noticed couls save many lifes, mutant and....human if they wanted" Aura said again, her voice shifted to digust upon the word human. Aura addressed Seyta's wounds as she spoke.
>> "Well one day you might learn to control it though sadly i have little knowledge of music. "
Glad for Aura's help with her cuts Seyta gave her a quick smile then frowned thinking about how much it would cost to fix her tattoo after the cuts had healed. The wings were expensive enough the first time, and she couldn't go to the same place in Salem so getting a cheap redo was not an option. "I hope so... right now music is just the occasional street corner for me. The real money comes from my job at Lord&Taylor, not allot though."
>> "...If you like, after we are done here i can make some calls. Maybe staying next to one of them for life might be odd, but perhaps they could provide you with a few hours of relief"
Seyta nodded thinking it over. If Aura's friend could help her at least a little bit, that was fine. She still though Aura's opinion of her power was odd. Seyta hated it, wanted it to end forever...but it was what she had hoped for a long time ago. Not this mutation specifically, just being a mutant. Seyta was in a small group of the mutant crowd, shunned by humans and other mutants and they never realized they did it.
>> "She lives at a mansion for humans, that promotes humans and mutants working together, they care a little more about one's criminal record their which is why im normally not aloud on the grounds. Sanctuary takes any and all mutants, without question. Actually i met the lady i mentioned, when she accidentally hit me with her car, even with my aura the impact put me in pretty rough shape. "
Seyta chuckled slightly hearing this, getting hit by a car wasn't good but still, meeting two people by running into them was a little silly. Still, getting help from someone to break through her mutation was a good idea. As for getting to the mansion, Seyta had some history of petty theft and vandalism... but no record of anything. Combine than with her powers and all Aura needed to do was make the call and Seyta could waltz on in. "Sounds like a plan. Hopefully it will weork out to."
>> "We all have our gifts to help us a long our path, and to help others. The police, well.....they use those people....you know that rescue people from hostage situations. A lovely lady who is not noticed could save many lives, mutant and....human if they wanted"
Seyta heard the change in Auras tone about the police and humans. She understood the reasoning on both sides of the fight between mutants and humans. Even back home, in a mutant dominated town, her parents had issues even though they were mutant rights supporters, just because they were human. "A life is a life. Doing something like that would be a way to fix the gap between humans and mutants. Although, you mentioned being a spy, that sounds like fun...if I knew what I was doing. -she smiled rolling her shoulders as the last bandage was put on and fixed her shirt, smoothing out some wrinkles then turned to Aura grinning slightly. "Before we do anything else though, you owe me some ice cream for running in to me still."
"i think i passed by one of those places last time i was at the mall" she said though she left out that she had been at the mall to kidnap a gorgon mutant. She hoped she saw the green skinned mutant again some day and hoped as well she did not take the kidnapping personally, it was after all only a job. Aura never saw a need for business and pleasure to get mixed in with one another. "never been in one though, i don't like stores much" She admitted not even really knowing what the store sold. Aura rarely shopped legally even though she had a good money supply going and sanctuary would help her if needed.
"Im sure it will work out, their rather kind thare" she said honestly. They even followed the laws. "Well you do have the perfect power for spy work. Back in the woods we had a lady with a precognitive sense, she could sense things before they happened. Though Not while she was sleeping, she was the first to die, mortar to the chest" she said a bit bitterly. She had watched each of them fall one by one.
"if you like, Sanctuary has a supply of it, or we could buy it from somware, or just hijack an ice cream truck, still if we buy, is this enough?" she asked reaching into her pocket and pulling out a few dozen small sapphires, some with rings, others lose, the collection was easily several hundred dollars worth. "So it's up to you" she said with a shrug obviously not caring about the rocks in her hands. "Im not sure why people value this stuff" she said looking at it a bit confused.
Seyta shrugged, is wasn't surprising Aura didn't like stores, especially a high end clothing store. She was probably the only mutant who worked there even. They weren't anti-mutant but they didn't exactly welcome them with open arms either, unless they had money.
>> "Im sure it will work out, their rather kind there. Well you do have the perfect power for spy work. Back in the woods we had a lady with a precognitive sense, she could sense things before they happened. Though Not while she was sleeping, she was the first to die, mortar to the chest"
Seyta flinched slightly hearing about the precognitive getting killed. "I'm... I'm sorry to hear that. But thanks for the compliment." Seyta picked up her violin case and sighed wanting to bring up a better topic. Seyta didn't know anyone who had died and she didn't want to talk bout it either. Letting her thoughts drift back to their previous topic was easiest. A power blocking mutant was someone Seyta really would like talking to.
>> "If you like, Sanctuary has a supply of it, or we could buy it from somewhere, or just hijack an ice cream truck, still if we buy, is this enough?"
Seyta's eyes snapped open seeing the gems. Seyta could buy a full set of recording equipment with that for her violin. On the other hand, given what little she knew about Aura, they probably had a bit more history than the things Seyta got with a five finger discount. But since the Sanctuary had ice cream she didn't have to worry about where those gems came from or went to. "I think we can just use what you got here at the Sanctuary. While we do that, you can tell me about your power blocking friend and how to get in touch with her."
Seyta chuckled hoping to set a positive tone. "As for spying, I would need some training and honestly, I don't have a clue about what I would be doing. Still, sounds like fun if you wanted me to give it a try."She was a bit surprised at her own interest in being a spy. Maybe it was the possibility of actually using her power for something instead of just having it. That still left her with the issue of why she was a spy and who for.
"as you wish, this way" she said starting in the direction of Sanctuaries dining hall. "Well she's a counselor and she is quite kind. I don't know how she did it, but somehow she kept me out of human hands, so i believe she cared for those around her. SHe lives at the Xavier mansion" she said not really knowing to much herself. Then Aura did recall a gem of advice Mama had told her. "She seemed to find it strange i ate a squirrel...or was it a racoon?" Aura was no longer sure.
"My power lends itself to direct combat and so i know little of spying myself. Only that they gather information and sometimes kill key people. I only know that nature has a role for each of us and gave us our powers to help us with it" she said. A Statement she had heard many many times in her life. Aura beleived nature had chosen roles for each of them and given them their powers to assist them with it. Her own aura was clearly a tool of the front line. Other had destinies more peaceful and some worse.
When they reached the dining hall Aura looked at her friend. "You can order whatever you like here, the hall is fully caterd, Mutant staffing of course." She said with pride. Only one human was ever in Sanctuary and Aura was not sure lisa was human at all. Aura walked up to the window and orderd ice cream, the Catering mutant clearly not noticing Aura had a companion.
>> "Well she's a counselor and she is quite kind. I don't know how she did it, but somehow she kept me out of human hands, so i believe she cared for those around her. SHe lives at the Xavier mansion. She seemed to find it strange i ate a squirrel...or was it a racoon?"
Seyta chuckled, not entirely sure if Aura was serious about the squirrel/raccoon. But at least she knew where to find this friend of Aura's was now. The Xavier Mansion, she knew where it was even. Now she just needed to get there and find this person. Without a name though Seyta would be stuck. Making it pointless to go to the Mansion in the first place. She name a note to ask her for it to go over there later to get some help.
>> "My power lends itself to direct combat and so i know little of spying myself. Only that they gather information and sometimes kill key people. I only know that nature has a role for each of us and gave us our powers to help us with it."
The comment made sense to Seyta but Aura herself didn't. Perhaps it was how Seyta was raised, but t seemed odd. Granted Salem was an oddity in and of itself in the world already but mutants where just another oddity and easily pulled into the already slightly offset town. There wasn't a clear line between mutant and human for Seyta. There was always a mutual lively hood back home between the two groups. the occasional scuffle happened sometimes but it was usually resolved quickly and relatively easily. Aura did have a much more difficult past though. Enough for Seyta to recognize where the dividing lines came from. But she didn't think they where needed.
>> "You can order whatever you like here, the hall is fully caterd, Mutant staffing of course."
Seyta nodded, waiting for Aura to get her ice cream first. As soon as she turned her back and ordered Seyta rolled her eyes. There goes this conversation. It wasn't a sure bet, but since Aura had taken her eyes off of Seyta and turned her attention to something else all thoughts of Seyta were likely gone. As Aura had her ice cream handed to her Seyta promptly leaned over the counter took the container out of the servers hands and helped herself to a spoon then followed Aura to a table and sat across from her. Going through another explanation of her powers was not on Seyta's list of things to do so just taking all the ice cream was the first option she chose. "Thank you for the ice cream by the way. Also, I need to know your friend's name if I want to find her."
Aura did find her attention span slipped after she lost site of the woman, though when she sat nearby Aura still took a few moments to recall she had been thare the entire time. Shaking her head a bit she felt like she was mentally fighting through a fog. Her word's finnaly snapped Aura back to reality. "Friend?" she said trying to recall their previous conversation. Aura rubbed her temple her memory wa suspect at times but this was diffrent.
" The lady goes by Mama, she had another name as well, but im not much for names like that. If ya wnat i can go to, they might not notice you but i atract attention" she said with a smile. it was true that since she had put several people who lived at the mansion in the hospital, she had assumed it would be a bad idea to go in. Frosty seemed to think it was a poor choice for her as well, though Aura also thought he may have just worried the order would come after her.
"Ask for the one who cancels powers if you go alone, they will know who you need." she said and then a thought occurred to her. "Does your power work on a guard watching through a security camera? I ask becuse the mansion has that" she said though she had only used it in one strange week. Aura had completely forgotten about the ice cream however. "Your power must make things lonely for you" she said thinking of the poor side of the power. In contrast aura was unsure of the down side to hers.
>> "The lady goes by Mama, she had another name as well, but im not much for names like that. If ya wnat i can go to, they might not notice you but i atract attention"
"Mama? Oh-kay..." The name was odd but that would make it easier to find the woman.
>> "Ask for the one who cancels powers if you go alone, they will know who you need."
Well that made things simple, Seyta liked simple. Walk in, ask for help chat a bit and walk out. A good solid plan once she had the time to do it. If Mama really did cancel powers then it would be worth the trip. If not, then she would figure out what to do then.
>> "Does your power work on a guard watching through a security camera? I ask becuse the mansion has that"
"No, even if they were in range the screen isn't me. But I doubt I'm going to look like an issue to them anyway." She tilted her head thinking for a bit. She never did worry about security camera's but they all had blind spots for those few times she was a bit over the line. Since she wan't causing any issues though there was nothing to worry about. "The only hard part will be getting whoever I ask to find her for me." She faked a grin as she ate the ice cream. That was harder than she wanted it to be. IT could easily cause a scene and since Seyta didn't know what the Mansion was like she didn't want it to reach that level.
>> "Your power must make things lonely for you"
Seyta looked up and nodded. "Yeah... always will be." Her mind drifted to thoughts of her grandmother but she caught herself and quickly became very interested in her ice cream. "If they had a better use then I might smile a bit more but we deal with what life gives us."
"Not about being an issue it would just be annoying to stand at the gate and never have anyone answer the thing. You could just walk through the place room by room until you find her office and wait" she suggested. The plan would work. Mama had to return to a bedroom or office and once she came in she would notice Seyta right away. "Like here i'm quite sure the mansion is use to strange things happening though you might scare her" she said with a laugh.
"Well today they got you Ice cream and a friend and even some relief and shiny rocks" she said of the gems and Mama. Now that i think about you probably saved my tail, i was asked to refrain from taking out humans in public and had i not run into you" she said nervously. "I can't drive but i can guide you through the city to the mansion" she offered though she failed to mention she useually stuck to the alleyways.
It was about then a Large Black and white Skunk jumped onto Aura's lap, it took a quick taste of Aura's ice cream and jolted back from it. "I don't think ice cream is meant for cats" she said to the skunk who took another lick and jolted back again from the cold. Aura simplt shugged and took a bite of her ice cream. "This is Solkat" she said though for a breif few moments her attention waivored. It was hard keeping seyta in her mind when shifting herr atention at all she reminded herself.
>> "Well today they got you Ice cream and a friend and even some relief and shiny rocks. Now that i think about you probably saved my tail, i was asked to refrain from taking out humans in public and had i not run into you"
Seyta nodded, she wasn't going to ask why Aura was told to refrain from things. Probably for the best as well. The new friend though, and knowing how to get some help with her powers was defiantly a good thing.
>> "I can't drive but i can guide you through the city to the mansion"
"Sure, Its probably faster than following a map." She had to admit, knowing where the mansion was and how to get there where a bit different. Thats when she saw the skunk. By the time she realized it was a skunk her powers had set in already and she was safe from any bad habits it might have.
>> "I don't think ice cream is meant for cats. This is Solkat."
Seyta nodded slowly watching Solkat sample Aura's ice cream. Aside from the oddity of Aura having a pet skunk it was rather amusing to watch its reaction to the cold. "Uh-hu... Thats a skunk, not a cat."
"That is likely, the alleyways and the like have faster travel then the roads in many cases" she said. She was pretty sure of this but she almost always walked anyway."We can set out whenever you like" she said wanting to leave when they left up to seyta, Aura had no ware to be today anyway. She was happy she had met seyta but even now could feel the tug on her mind to forget seyta was thare.
"Many people have told me that but im still not sure why their different, she even eats mice" she said with a shrug. Despite her usual attention to detail Aura simply could not understand the difference between skunks and cats. "I acquired her after some animal mutants let the local zoo's animals go., this one decided to come with me and stay, i even took her to canada" she said with a smile.
