The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Yeah. He's doing well for himself now. He fought on the uh...less than legal circuit for awhile, and even picked up some submission moves. I'm trying to get him to teach me, but it's kinda hard for him since he's also learning how to take care of a now-one-year old," she said with a giggle.
"Yeah, striking is good, but it's nice to have a backup plan. Like when Rodgers went up against that guy from Kentucky...I think his name was Cobb? Blocked a kick, countered into a take-down, and one ankle lock later it was over. But then Cobb sorta faded into obscurity, but he showed some promise at first. Hamm, though? I'll admit he's got moves. In fact if he were to spice up his repertoire with a submission or two, he'd be near unbeatable." She found herself smiling, the orange lights of her hands pulsing a little. It'd been awhile since she'd talked Mixed Martial Arts with someone, and it was making her a little giddy.
"Deal. I cover coffee, you cover food," she said with a somewhat smug, victorious smile. She couldn't fight, but her wit was a weapon all on its own.
Skye, on the other hand, wasn't arguing semantics. She really did miss having Emily around, though the thinking time was probably good for both of them. The important thing was, she was going to hang out with Emily again! (And hopefully figure out what's actually going on between them.) She hoped for a relationship, but she knew she had a friend either way. The kissing was nice though...
"Hey, Em~" she said brightly. "Oh, I just threw slippers over what I was already wearing," she admitted. "It's a plus side of us living in the same building, she said as she walked in. Should she hug her? Kiss her? No, not now. No. Making her way over to the bed, she sat down, somewhat nervous, yet somewhat excited.
"Ya know, it's been awhile since I've actually sat down to watch a movie, so this should be fun," she said, her voice still bright.
"Bigger egos need to be stroked too~" she whispered with a flirty grin. April wasn't the only one feeling confident; in fact, Skye felt more powerful than she had since she and Mari broke up.
"Good, these don't exactly turn off, and I'd hate to scare away a pretty thang like you~"
She shot April a glance. "Oh, really now? Whatever you call it, I'm not complaining." The nip at her lip made her shudder, her eyes involuntarily closing for a moment as she grabbed April's hand eagerly and walked briskly upstairs.
Her brown eyes scanned the hall, looking for a room. Nope, nope, bathroom, closet...Bingo. She pushed open a slightly cracked door and looked at her new....acquaintance. "After you, Hun~"
Skye looked back over the text messages as she finished pulling on her slippers. Good, she wasn't reading too deeply. 'Do you like ____, I'm about to watch ______' normally implied an invite to come watch with. Unless Skye was reading too deeply and Emily was trying to sidetrack the current situation with small talk. Craaaap. Her hands flashed purple for just a moment, but then her phone went off again.
Okay, cool. She was being invited over. The lights and hair went back to that giddy bright yellow as she snatched up the backpack that held her game collection and some other stuff and slung it over her shoulder. Then, she practically skipped down the hall. Wait, no, she was skipping. That was....odd, but she was excited, and she really did miss Emily even though it had only been a few days.
She didn't even text back, just made her way to her girlfriendfriend Emily's room. Hair and lights flashed purple as she knocked on the door, but again that was overridden by excitement.
The buzzing of her phone vibrating on her chest made her yelp and jump unexpectedly, which ended in physics taking over and she tumbled off the the bed, hitting her head on the floor in a heap. Luckily, her head hadn't been far from the floor anyway, but it still jostled her more than a little bit. Turning off the music, she pulled herself to her feet and grabbed her phone, which had been flung halfway across the room, a trip that over the past couple of months, the poor device had grown quite accustomed to making anyway.
Her purple hair flicked to yellow when she opened her messages and saw "New Text Message From: Emily <3"
What do you think of Horror? The movies... I'm about to watch a remake of one of carpenter's classics, or a prequel or something. It's got that chick from Scot Pilgrim in it.
She started to type.
Hey! <3 Delete. I missed you! <3 Delete.
She sighed, pondering over exactly what to write.
Horror's pretty cool. Yeah, the movies, silly I like the chick from Scott Pilgrim. Dunno why but I've always been kinda into her. You want me to come on over then?
Send.
Once that was done, she pulled on a pair of slippers and made an attempt to comb her hair so it didn't look like she'd spent the better part of an hour hanging it off of the bed. But, the yellow light was now replaced with hints of pink as her heart jumped a little.
Skye had tried almost everything to unwind. Music, reading, drawing, even went to another party(minus picking up a date), but while these things gave her momentary relief, she still had no idea what was going on with her and Emily. They were friends, and they'd kissed and even fell asleep together after, but...Skye had no idea what to make of it. She still hadn't fully recovered from her last relationship, but there was obviously something going on there. It'd been a few days, and she and Emily hadn't hung out a whole lot, honestly. Skye figured it best to give Emily time to see where she stood on the whole thing. Besides, there was no way Skye was going to approach Emily about this; she didn't know how.
Her last(and only) real relationship consisted of video games, feelings being confessed, followed by making out, and then this silent understanding that they were dating now. That day/night with Emily consisted of three of the four of those, but instead of the mutual 'we're dating now' feeling...she just had feelings of confusion. She didn't doubt that she wanted this. She knew she did. But was it too soon? What if she was just afraid of being alone now?
What if, it turned out that Emily would get tired of spending time with Skye, too?
As it stood, Skye lay across her bed, head dangling off the side with her mohawk affected by the gravity thereof. She was wearing only a black tank top and a pair of sweatpants, and her phone rested on her stomach. Her earbuds were in her ears as her eyes were closed and a purple light pulsated with the beat of the music that bounced around in her head, her lips moving and singing along to the words.
"In the beginning, it was worth this Do the worse, feel complete Passing standards, others meet Now perfect endings, make you anxious A heavy hand, cold as white I'm leaving nothing here Nothing To regret
Why am I still suffocated I'm constantly devastated Just to stay alive..."
"So I see; good thing I love paying 'em back, hm?" she teased. She watched the other woman closely, doing a lot more than just drinking in her figure. Oh no, Skye was watching her movements, matching them with her own. In fact, the two girls dancing, coupled with Skye's power probably made quite the spectacle.
"Oh, maybe I am...." she leaned in, whispering into the other woman's ear. "But you approached me, so am I really the only one?[/i]" she continued with a smirk.
When Skye broke the kiss this time, she flashed another grin, followed by a wink. "What do you say we...let others have a turn on the dance floor, if you get my drift?"
"Good to know, Hun~" she murmured, the pink lights taking the lead. "Well, if you hadn't come to me, I'd have had to track you down," she said with a smirk as she once again drank in the other girl's figure. "Because you're too sexy to ignore, yourself."
She shivered at the whisper, and even moreso at the light fingertips running across her arm. "Oh, I'm hoping to find more than that," she replied, her own voice a whisper, as she pulled the girl into another kiss, this one lingering a little bit longer.
Skye blushed, feeling Emily's lips on her cheek, and she giggled a little. This was by far above and beyond what she'd expected for the day, but she had to admit she was quite pleased. She was more confused than ever, but she was happy. She snuggled into Emily a bit more as those small shivers of joy danced up and down her spine.
"In between quests, actually. So there was nothing too pressing going on. Though, I'm pretty sure it wasn't the flailing that got you all distracted," she teased, her voice almost becoming a flirty purr, looking over at Emily with a wink. "Just follow my lead," she said with a slight cackle. Sure she was totally talking about the game, still.
She settled into her spot, a content smile on her face as her lights settled into a deep indigo.
"Either way, I'll chalk it up to me just being special," she said with a small smile. She leaned against Emily a little bit longer. There was just something about the closeness, Emily's arm around her waist, her head on Emily's shoulder. It was comforting. Especially coupled with the giddiness that came with that first kiss.
"It is, yeah..." she said giving Emily one more squeeze before handing Emily the controller and picking up her own. She wasn't sure how much she'd be able to focus, but...today had been more therapeutic than she'd hoped, though it did have it's fair share of rather pleasant surprises.
Skye still had it. Like a Venus Flytrap, all she had to do was stand in the center of the room and look pretty, and the flies would just flock to her. Skye took pride in her dancing; she wasn't trained by any means, but she just had a natural rhythm. It also helped when her emotions were on point with the music, that way her body and powers seemed to keep the same beat, much like they were now, which created a much more eye-catching effect.
"So do I~" was her simple answer before twirling in perfect rhythm to the music, the orange light flickering to pink and back for the effect of it.
She gave another visible shudder at April's words. "I'd be insulted if you didn't," she said simply, leaning in and giving the other girl a very brief kiss, more flirty than anything, but it got the point across.
"Pretty sure donuts are fatty sugars," she teased lightly. "But thanks. Nice to know at best I'll just be out of shape," she said, a smile smile on her face.
She found herself spiraling back into sadness after mentioning Mari; that happened quite a lot over the past couple of months, and honestly she wasn't sure she could handle her powers setting off again. Just once was tiring, so twice in a row would have been even less pretty.
"I think Alex "Wolfblood" Desoto is pretty good as far as modern fighters go; he could really take the Welterweight division by storm in the next year or so I think," she said, her hair flicking orange as she talked about her lesser known passion. "You probably haven't, but have you heard of a guy named Blaine "Painkiller" Sinclaire? He was an amateur fighter who was caught up in the scandal before he went big-time. Opponent snapped his arm and he still went onto win the fight, without even flinching. Since he was revealed to be a mutant who couldn't feel, his entire record and his future contract was thrown out," she explained.
"Anyway, that's my uncle."
They made it to the donut shop, and she gave a smile. "Well, sport. Last chance to let the pretty lady pay for your food," she teased with a small smirk.
When a woman emerged from the back, Skye bit her lip a little as the purple lights began to pulse a little more. Well, this was happening. She took a breath and opened up the piece of paper she was holding, revealing a sketch she'd done: The concept was simple, just a rainbow in the shape of a heart, with the name "Prism" taking up what would have been the blank space in the center of the heart.
"I was...I was thinking of getting something like this either on my shoulder or my thigh or something," she said, her hair flicking to an excited yellow because she was actually going to do this. "I don't have any experience with tattoos, but I've wanted one for a long time," she explained.
Her breathing calmed, replaced with an almost giddy excitement.
Skye found herself shaking lightly, breath still catching occasionally, still wrapping her brain around the whole situation. She still had residual feelings for Mari, but there was obviously something with Emily. And this was different. Calm. And yet...there was something exciting about it.
She scooted closer to Emily, laying her head on the other girl's shoulder and closing her eyes. "Yeah...taking me to your room to make out doesn't seem like your style," she teased with a small giggle. It may have been Skye's M.O., but that hadn't crossed her mind in the longest time. "Guess we wanted to play games and got a little more than we bargained for, eh?" she teased again, leaning up to kiss the side of Emily's head since that was the only part of her face that was exposed at the moment.
"Besides, we can still play, if you want..." he eyes drifted to the TV as she contemplated it. But at the same time, she leaned against Emily again; this was comfortable...

Who knew what it was, maybe it was the alcohol taking the lead, but they were actually kissing, and Emily wasn't the only one out of practice, though Skye probably wasn't as far removed. Somewhere there was this weird position change followed by a tumbling and a flailing of limbs, but somehow, they made it to the cushion.
Uncharacteristically, Skye had also found herself shaking a little with nerves, but...that was okay. The purple light settled back into the pink. When the kiss broke, Skye was giddy and smiling from ear to ear and she just sort of leaned her head on Emily's shoulder, the pink light occasionally fading to orange and back.
"Not gonna lie," she whispered brightly. "This is not remotely what I thought would happen today. " She gave Emily another happy little squeeze before releasing the embrace and just leaning back against the bed, still bathing in that pink to orange glow.
