The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Colors are Cool, Feelings are Effing Dumb (Skymily)
Skye had tried almost everything to unwind. Music, reading, drawing, even went to another party(minus picking up a date), but while these things gave her momentary relief, she still had no idea what was going on with her and Emily. They were friends, and they'd kissed and even fell asleep together after, but...Skye had no idea what to make of it. She still hadn't fully recovered from her last relationship, but there was obviously something going on there. It'd been a few days, and she and Emily hadn't hung out a whole lot, honestly. Skye figured it best to give Emily time to see where she stood on the whole thing. Besides, there was no way Skye was going to approach Emily about this; she didn't know how.
Her last(and only) real relationship consisted of video games, feelings being confessed, followed by making out, and then this silent understanding that they were dating now. That day/night with Emily consisted of three of the four of those, but instead of the mutual 'we're dating now' feeling...she just had feelings of confusion. She didn't doubt that she wanted this. She knew she did. But was it too soon? What if she was just afraid of being alone now?
What if, it turned out that Emily would get tired of spending time with Skye, too?
As it stood, Skye lay across her bed, head dangling off the side with her mohawk affected by the gravity thereof. She was wearing only a black tank top and a pair of sweatpants, and her phone rested on her stomach. Her earbuds were in her ears as her eyes were closed and a purple light pulsated with the beat of the music that bounced around in her head, her lips moving and singing along to the words.
"In the beginning, it was worth this Do the worse, feel complete Passing standards, others meet Now perfect endings, make you anxious A heavy hand, cold as white I'm leaving nothing here Nothing To regret
Why am I still suffocated I'm constantly devastated Just to stay alive..."

Being an empath and being romantically entangled with another person was... complex. Putting it lightly, but none the less it was true. Emily could tell if a partner was being honest about things, could feel their private sadness, often tell when they had serious misgivings and whether or not what they said they felt for her was genuine. And then there was the whole ethics debate around that which gave her a headache even before bringing affection and love into the esoteric equation.
Being an empath romantically entangled with Skye Sinclaire was something else entirely. Skye almost literally wore her feelings on her sleeve. Emily would've been able to work out Skye's feelings even if the Brit hadn't been able to literally sense them. She liked to think so anyway.
It had taken her significantly longer to dissect and investigate her own feelings however, they were a whole other ball park of twisted web. She had in fact, caught the feelings for Skye.
After the night including gaming and feelings and tipsy make outs, she'd wanted to give Skye space to work out what she really wanted. Emily knew that on a raw, emotional level Skye wanted her. And that made her happy and blush at the same time. However Skye's thoughts were another matter entirely, what she thought about what she wanted could be something more confusing and convoluted that Emily was not privy to.
And so. She'd given her space. She thought that had been pretty clear, she'd hugged Skye when they woke up, and not said anything. Did that not communicate the giving of space? Perhaps Americans were just by nature a little slower in the art of subtlety and subtext.
It had been too long. She wanted to see her friend. Girlfriend. Romantic person. Whatever they were. It didn't really matter that much to her, she just knew that she would like to see her friend. But Skye wasn't biting.
A blitz of halestorm radiated outwards from her speakers while she paced around. She'd thought about getting an apartment in the city a few times, but she'd need a quiet-ish building, and that might prove difficult. Thankfully it was still the holidays, so she was able to get away with it.
To take her mind off of things she'd been binging horror movies. That's right, horror. The Grinch didn't distract her nearly as well as Jason Vorhees tearing through a camp of frisky teenagers. She was just about to queue up a remake of a classic of some description that was probably somewhere between middling and terrible, Lizzy Hale's powerful vocals still backing her angst, when she realised she'd never asked Skye what her preferences were with movies. F--- it.
What do you think of Horror? The movies... I'm about to watch a remake of one of carpenter's classics, or a prequel or something. It's got that chick from Scot Pilgrim in it.
She put her phone away. Message sent. She definitely didn't steal several more glanced at the screen in the next 30 seconds, waiting for the little indication that a person was typing a reply. Nope. Did not do that.
The buzzing of her phone vibrating on her chest made her yelp and jump unexpectedly, which ended in physics taking over and she tumbled off the the bed, hitting her head on the floor in a heap. Luckily, her head hadn't been far from the floor anyway, but it still jostled her more than a little bit. Turning off the music, she pulled herself to her feet and grabbed her phone, which had been flung halfway across the room, a trip that over the past couple of months, the poor device had grown quite accustomed to making anyway.
Her purple hair flicked to yellow when she opened her messages and saw "New Text Message From: Emily <3"
What do you think of Horror? The movies... I'm about to watch a remake of one of carpenter's classics, or a prequel or something. It's got that chick from Scot Pilgrim in it.
She started to type.
Hey! <3 Delete. I missed you! <3 Delete.
She sighed, pondering over exactly what to write.
Horror's pretty cool. Yeah, the movies, silly I like the chick from Scott Pilgrim. Dunno why but I've always been kinda into her. You want me to come on over then?
Send.
Once that was done, she pulled on a pair of slippers and made an attempt to comb her hair so it didn't look like she'd spent the better part of an hour hanging it off of the bed. But, the yellow light was now replaced with hints of pink as her heart jumped a little.

Emily huffed. She hadn't replied yet. Was her signal bad? Maybe. Was she being ignored? Maybe. Possibly. She sighed. Or maybe Skye was just out at a party blowing off steam or gathering her thoughts or something, Emily couldn't expect people to just answer her whenever. She went and sat in the chair near her desk and began rocking in it in such a way that she'd have been told off if she was in school for the potential of cracking her skull.
She only nearly fell out of her chair when the text came through, flailing arms catching a grip on the desk and bringing her suddenly back down to the ground. She saw Skye's name attached to the message and smiled. Maybe they could start talking after all. Hopefully Skye wasn't replying just asking Emily to bugger off and leave her alone. Although she decided sombrely that it was a possibility.
She blinked a few times. Had- Had she invited Skye over? She read over her text again. Okay, it was official. Americans sucked at subtext. She hastily began replying.
No that's not what I-
...
I mean I guess if that's what you
...
Sounds good. Lets just keep our clothes on yeah? See you soon.
Emily sighed a little. Maybe hanging out would be good, some clarity some space some- She glanced at the mirror on her wall. Did she look like a mess? She felt like one, but her makeup and clothes were pretty impeccable actually. It was all internal. The last time she'd had a girl in her room for movies had been.. intense, and led to problems.
Skye looked back over the text messages as she finished pulling on her slippers. Good, she wasn't reading too deeply. 'Do you like ____, I'm about to watch ______' normally implied an invite to come watch with. Unless Skye was reading too deeply and Emily was trying to sidetrack the current situation with small talk. Craaaap. Her hands flashed purple for just a moment, but then her phone went off again.
Okay, cool. She was being invited over. The lights and hair went back to that giddy bright yellow as she snatched up the backpack that held her game collection and some other stuff and slung it over her shoulder. Then, she practically skipped down the hall. Wait, no, she was skipping. That was....odd, but she was excited, and she really did miss Emily even though it had only been a few days.
She didn't even text back, just made her way to her girlfriendfriend Emily's room. Hair and lights flashed purple as she knocked on the door, but again that was overridden by excitement.

How to play this how to play this... Emily paced around her room in circles, occasionally glancing at the mirror and assuring herself that she looked fine. Okay. So she did really want to see Skye, obviously. That was part of the purpose of the text. She just hadn't expected it so soon. And the last few times she'd had someone over for movies it had been a date.
Was this a date? If it was she definitely couldn't let it go the way the others had. She wasn't having a repeat with Skye, no matter what. Not only could she not go through all that crap again, she definitely wasn't losing Skye.
Emily actually sense Skye coming before she got there. It was pretty obvious who it was. So much... excitement. Little sprinkles of other emotions in there, mostly positive. She swung the door open as the second knock was happening and stood there, raising an eyebrow at her friend before chuckling.
"I am so overdressed for hanging out. Don't judge me." She smiled a little timidly. "Come in." Her music was still blaring. Oops.
Skye, on the other hand, wasn't arguing semantics. She really did miss having Emily around, though the thinking time was probably good for both of them. The important thing was, she was going to hang out with Emily again! (And hopefully figure out what's actually going on between them.) She hoped for a relationship, but she knew she had a friend either way. The kissing was nice though...
"Hey, Em~" she said brightly. "Oh, I just threw slippers over what I was already wearing," she admitted. "It's a plus side of us living in the same building, she said as she walked in. Should she hug her? Kiss her? No, not now. No. Making her way over to the bed, she sat down, somewhat nervous, yet somewhat excited.
"Ya know, it's been awhile since I've actually sat down to watch a movie, so this should be fun," she said, her voice still bright.

Emily's arms were basically pointed straight down as Skye entered her room, her fingers gently toying with eachother. She really wasn't sure how to act or stand around Skye now, the whole making out and feelings thing had thrown her whole limited social dynamic totally out of whack. The main thing she was picking up from Skye was the affection as she entered. Nerves and excitement were close on the heals though, and then she said something.
Emily's cheeks flushed in slightly and she fidgeted more, closing her door. "You've never called me Em before." She admitted. A little while ago, she'd probably have punched anyone that did it, that wasn't her father at least. But she definitely didn't want to punch Skye.
"It is a plus side." She admitted, slightly floundering.
Right movies. Other topic, yes good. "I've been watching quite a few." She didn't speak aloud the fact that she'd not watched with another person for a really long time. She tried not too think about that.
"Oh, do you not like being called Em?" she asked, then breathed a sigh of relief when she'd said it was a plus. "Okay good. I just thought it was cute--uh, cool--so I thought I'd try it out. That's not what I've been thinking about this whole time, I swear," she joked, laughing slightly, as her body language relaxed and loosened a little. Even with the awkwardness of memories of the last time they were here, Skye couldn't help but be comfortable around Emily.
"Maybe you'll get me back into the habit, then," she said sincerely. "The majority of what I watch has been MMA fights, and I have a strange feeling that might not be your idea of a good time." Yeah, just keep on ignoring the obvious subject. That was the plan, and it was apparently going quite well.

Emily's cheeks flushed in more. She quickly snapped the door shut and stepped over towards the bed. Just sitting on the corner for a minute. "I uh-" She sat, closing her eyes thinking for a moment, before Skye carried on talking it was cute? She felt her chest tighten.
"I-" She paused again. Damn thoughts caught in her throat. "I don't mind. Not if it's you saying it." Wha- Oh crap. That came out much faster than she had intended it to.
Her hands gently gripped her knees, she looked down at them, purple locks clouding her vision. She cleared her throat slowly. "Yeah, maybe. That'd be good."
"Two people just beating the crap out of eachother for a crowd? Sounds juvenile and fun." She scooted a little closer to Skye.
Damn that blush was cute; Emily was cute. She shook her head, ridding herself of those thoughts for now. This was just an innocent movie night between two girls that may or may not end up dating soon, if they weren't already. She blushed as Emily spoke, a small smile spreading across her lips.
"I'll use this power wisely, I swear," she said sincerely, before adding a teasing "Maybe."
Skye scooted a little closer as well. "Yeah, my uncle was a fighter when I was a kid. But before he got his big-time contract he was, long gruesome story cut short, he was outed as a mutant, blacklisted and had his record erased. Apparently they viewed not being able to feel as an unfair advantage," she grumbled slightly.
"I have the tapes in my bag, if we need something to do after the horror movie binge," she suggested with a small shrug.

Emily felt a soft smile breaking through her lips again. The way that Skye reacted to her making an absolute fool of herself was just so warming and nice, she couldn't get over the giddy feeling it produced. "I thought you might." She murmured softly.
She listened intently to Skye's explanation of why she was interested in that particular form of entertainment and leaned her head softly on her girlfriends shoulder. She paid as close attention to the words being said as the feelings that were behind them.
"I'm sorry. That's super lame." She replied, siting up a little bit and watching Skye for a moment before smiling at the follow up suggestion. She reached around Skye and softly pulled her into a warm hug from the side. "I'd be interested in trying that with you."
Skye loved feeling Emily close to her, it produced so many warm fuzzy feelings; feelings she didn't know what to do with. But....they still made her feel good. "I was a kid back then. Like maybe eight, tops. But that's why they're tapes and not DVDs," she said with a giggle. "Still isn't right, but he's doing well for himself.
An arm hooked around Emily's waist when she hugged Skye from the side, and Skye leaned into it, then she looked over at her friend, slightly confused. "You wanna try watching, right? I'm not so good at the fighting. I'm trying to get Uncle Blaine to teach me, but it hasn't really gone anywhere," she said with a slight giggle.
After a while, Skye looked away, resisting the urge to do what she wanted to do because it was awkward, and she didn't want to ruin what would be a good night. Granted they did need to talk but...that could wait. Yeah. Definitely.

Emily could tell that Skye enjoyed being around her, especially this close. And it made her feel at ease too. There wasn't anything wrong with it, surely? "Do you have a VCR then?" That thought amused her. So retro.
She leaned further on Skye when the arm was wrapped around her. "I would yeah. I definitely am not suited to fighting. I have the structural integrity of a fresh breadstick." She chirped quietly her head finding Skye's shoulder again and resting there. She looked up with a mischievous smile. "I thought you were a badass X-women?" She added with a raised eyebrow.
Emily blinked. Oh yeah. They were doing that, apparently. She stood up and moved around the room to switch off the music and the lights, and grabbed the remote, moving back to the bed next to Skye, just not quite as close. "We are watching. The thing. The prequel to the... 3rd version of the movie? I can't remember. Apparently it's bad, but I'm a sucker for body horror."
"What kind of g--friend would I be if I didn't?" she said, motioning toward the backpack."VCR's in there, plus some tapes, and a few videogames. You know, just in case," she said, making the save quite adequately, she thought. Or hoped, anyway.
"I'm getting better. Not as wimpy as I was. Besides, I'm a badass X-woman in training. Still earning my stripes," she said with a light giggle. When Emily sat back down, she slid a tiny, itty bitty bit towards her. "Sounds fun. I also enjoy 'bad' movies, myself," she said, complete with air quotes.
"As it gets more convoluted, they tend to get worse as a rule, but they still have their fanbases." As she spoke, she slowly, sneakily closed the distance between them, until they weren't quite touching.
