The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Yeah, emotions are hard to figure out for me, especially traveling uncharted territory," she explained softly. "I knew we needed to talk, but...I didn't know how to address it. I wanted to text you, but I started so many messages that I just ended up deleting," Skye admitted sheepishly.
She snuggled into Emily more, leaning over and kissing her forehead with a smile. The movie was now just background noise as Skye settled in, just enjoying the time with Emily; the closeness, and the warmth of just being there. She was still going to have to work through some things, but she felt better knowing she wasn't alone and they were going to get through their respective issues together.
"Oh, honey you haven't seen seductive," she purred. "You're just more susceptible to my charms~" her voice was bright and slightly teasing, the orange light never once fading.
"I've been thinking on this for days," she breathed. "And I was sorta afraid. I really wanted to see you, not just so we could talk about this, but I'd grown kinda used to having you around," she admitted with a smile. "But, I'm glad we did this because things turned out better than I'd hoped."
Skye smiled wider as Emily--her girlfriend--leaned against her. She really could get used to that. She turned so she was facing the TV again, and looped her arm around Emily's waist, scooting close to her as she settled back in. "They're really not. I mean, they were good enough to freak you out, eh Em?" she said teasingly, looking over at Emily and sticking out her tongue.
"Well, we've already established that I'm special," she practically purred with a smile. She did notice that Emily hadn't been as shaky, especially not since the kiss. Her hair and lights were that vibrant orange, and Skye herself felt like she was practically floating.
"Yay~" Skye repeated, her cheeks tinted a bright pink as she radiated pure happiness and giddiness. And then her attention was drawn back to the screen as Emily had said something about a movie. "Whooooa...." she said, her voice a mix of awe with a little bit of disgust. "The effects in this actually aren't bad...that actually looks like...okay, ew," she said with a slight giggle, her hand running up and down Emily's back as she brushed part of her mohawk out of her face.
"I guess we both have issues, but the alcohol did help...a lot," she admitted. The humor of their deep, romantic conversation while someone was literally being torn in half on TV played in the background was not lost on Skye. In fact, it may have contributed to her smile.
"Yeah. I may have read too deeply into it, but I really wanted to see you, too. It really didn't change how I--" She paused as she felt hands on her face, and she instinctively turned to look at Emily. The kiss caught Skye by surprise, but she didn't remotely fight it. The purple lights turned pink as her hand tangled gently in Emily's hair, even after the kiss broke.
"Yeah, we can work through our problems together, right? I think I'm slightly confused about feelings, but I do know that this is what I want," she murmured. "Yes. I do wanna be your girlfriend," she said cheesily, her lights flashing orange and yellow and pink one right after the other, before repeating, and she leaned in, giving Emily another gentle kiss on the lips.
Both girls jumped at the same time; the movie actually was better than she expected, in all honesty. But gradually, the movie became less and less of a central focus. She shivered again, both out of nervousness, and from Emily playing with her hair. The latter was nice, soothing.
Skye took a deep breath, sitting up to look Emily in the eyes, biting her lip for a moment. "I...Well, I've enjoyed spending time with you. And...I know we were a little...inebriated the last time we were together, but..." she exhaled deeply as she reached out to run a hand through Emily's hair, the purple light illuminating the girl's face, but almost perfectly matching the other girl's hair color. Huh. That was neat.
"I...personally...I'd like us to be more..." She turned back to the movie, afraid of what could possibly happen next. Skye wasn't used to this, and she didn't know she could get used to being in this situation. But if this went well, maybe she wouldn't have to.
She smiled, biting her lip at Emily's words. "I like it too," she murmured softly, nuzzling into her shoulder. Skye wanted to say something, but she didn't. She just kept her mouth shut and enjoyed the moment.
And, the movie actually wasn't terrible so far. It was starting to pick up, which was good, meaning her attention was distracted, if only a little. But as time went on, those feelings of confusion came back, and she was having more and more trouble holding them back. Ugh, crushing on an empath was hard.
Finally, Skye decided to break the silence with a shaky, somewhat nervous voice. "Hey, uhm...Em?" she said, not looking at her, eyes still on the movie screen. "Em...w-what...I mean...What are we?" she asked, finally looking at her, only briefly. Her heart pounded viciously in her chest as her hair turned purple with nervousness, with even a slight flicker to green every now and then. This was uncharted territory, and she was more than a little worried.
"Well, the way you lay it on, I have no choice but to accept it," she teased back, sticking out her tongue. Skye gave a slight shiver as Emily's arm wrapped around her, and the emotional mutant snuggled into the other girl a bit. She was still confused as all hell, but this moment of contact gave her warm, comfortable feelings, and she had to admit, she liked it.
Several thoughts rushed through her mohawked head: What are we? Am I ready for another relationship? Was last time just because of the drinks? Is she really looking for a relationship with me? I'd kinda like to kiss her again, though...
Her eyes focused on the movie as her body settled against Emily's. The lights had been changing colors: Orange, Purple, Pink, Yellow, and then repeated, but as the movie went on, the colors stopped shifting, and settled on a content indigo.
"I think we've already established that I'm ****ing adorable," she teased lightly, focusing more on the TV at this point. Or well, trying to, anyway. "Well, yeah. I'm not a full member of the X-men, yet. So I'm still earning my stripes or whatever the hell it is. I can't be 'earning my X' because that's on the uniform already. Though...how cool would that be? People standing in a line in blank uniforms and someone goes down the line pinning X's to each of them," she mused. Was she rambling?
"There's one way to find out," she replied, every now and then looking at Emily with a side-eye. As the movie started, she kept her eyes on the screen, using the movie as an excuse to avoid the awkwardness that was trying to settle in. Sure, there were things they needed to talk about, but Skye was nervous about what might happen. What if it was mostly the alcohol? What if this ended up failing, too? Besides, she didn't even know how to address this. At some point it crossed her mind that it was a good thing Emily wasn't a telepath or this would have been even worse.
She lay her head on Emily's shoulder, watching the film as her nervousness and confusion subsided just a little. Just something about Emily just....being there made it a little better. It didn't make things go away, but if Emily said she wouldn't be ran off....Skye was gonna hold her to it.
"What kind of g--friend would I be if I didn't?" she said, motioning toward the backpack."VCR's in there, plus some tapes, and a few videogames. You know, just in case," she said, making the save quite adequately, she thought. Or hoped, anyway.
"I'm getting better. Not as wimpy as I was. Besides, I'm a badass X-woman in training. Still earning my stripes," she said with a light giggle. When Emily sat back down, she slid a tiny, itty bitty bit towards her. "Sounds fun. I also enjoy 'bad' movies, myself," she said, complete with air quotes.
"As it gets more convoluted, they tend to get worse as a rule, but they still have their fanbases." As she spoke, she slowly, sneakily closed the distance between them, until they weren't quite touching.
Skye loved feeling Emily close to her, it produced so many warm fuzzy feelings; feelings she didn't know what to do with. But....they still made her feel good. "I was a kid back then. Like maybe eight, tops. But that's why they're tapes and not DVDs," she said with a giggle. "Still isn't right, but he's doing well for himself.
An arm hooked around Emily's waist when she hugged Skye from the side, and Skye leaned into it, then she looked over at her friend, slightly confused. "You wanna try watching, right? I'm not so good at the fighting. I'm trying to get Uncle Blaine to teach me, but it hasn't really gone anywhere," she said with a slight giggle.
After a while, Skye looked away, resisting the urge to do what she wanted to do because it was awkward, and she didn't want to ruin what would be a good night. Granted they did need to talk but...that could wait. Yeah. Definitely.
Damn that blush was cute; Emily was cute. She shook her head, ridding herself of those thoughts for now. This was just an innocent movie night between two girls that may or may not end up dating soon, if they weren't already. She blushed as Emily spoke, a small smile spreading across her lips.
"I'll use this power wisely, I swear," she said sincerely, before adding a teasing "Maybe."
Skye scooted a little closer as well. "Yeah, my uncle was a fighter when I was a kid. But before he got his big-time contract he was, long gruesome story cut short, he was outed as a mutant, blacklisted and had his record erased. Apparently they viewed not being able to feel as an unfair advantage," she grumbled slightly.
"I have the tapes in my bag, if we need something to do after the horror movie binge," she suggested with a small shrug.
Skye shuddered at the playful kiss; she found those really fun, albeit rare. "You tell me~ Though be careful, wrong answer and you'll make my lights all sad and turn blue," she teased.
"Trust me, if I had an off switch, I guarantee you woulda found it," she murmured with a smile. This smile got even bigger as the other woman showed off her own lights. The blue flames mixed really well with the indigo, honestly, and Skye gave an impressed whistle. "Beautiful. Though..." she feigned pouting. "If you showed me this sooner, I coulda been calling you Hot Stuff all night," she teased, giving the other woman a playful kiss of her own. Two could play that game.
"Let's call it a happy coincidence, even though it wasn't" she said with a smirk.
-----
A soft, indigo light illuminated the closet, as Skye worked on pulling her outfit back together, a small smirk on her face. Okay so going to this party had definitely been a good idea. But as she looked over at April, something...clicked. "Hey, wait a minute," she mused out loud. "Earlier you said you had lights of your own. I'm pretty sure I've earned the privilege of seeing them," she said, her low voice carrying a teasing tone. "Besides, it's only fair. I showed you mine," she said, laughing a little at her own joke.
"Oh, do you not like being called Em?" she asked, then breathed a sigh of relief when she'd said it was a plus. "Okay good. I just thought it was cute--uh, cool--so I thought I'd try it out. That's not what I've been thinking about this whole time, I swear," she joked, laughing slightly, as her body language relaxed and loosened a little. Even with the awkwardness of memories of the last time they were here, Skye couldn't help but be comfortable around Emily.
"Maybe you'll get me back into the habit, then," she said sincerely. "The majority of what I watch has been MMA fights, and I have a strange feeling that might not be your idea of a good time." Yeah, just keep on ignoring the obvious subject. That was the plan, and it was apparently going quite well.
Skye smiled and nodded. "Thanks," she said quietly. She didn't seem to mind Skye's powers, but then again tattoo artists probably saw more than their fair share of craziness. The yellow lights pulsed, showing how excited she was at the thought of finally getting her tattoo; especially now that she was talking over what she wanted. Most would have probably frowned upon her getting her codename getting inked on her, but with her...vibrant...abilities, there really was no point in keeping a secret identity.
"Probably blend them a bit, and just black outline for Prism, I think," she said after thinking it over a bit. "I'm thinking maybe my left shoulder?" That seemed like a good place for it, the more she thought about it.
