The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Skye was running late. Very late. She wasn't expecting a text message from Sam; hell she really wasn't expecting anything, all things considered. Yeah, she randomly showed up to help fend off the mansion but before that, she'd been hiding from her past, from her decisions, from, everything. And after that, well...she went right back to hiding for the most part. But as soon as her phone went off, she sprang into action, or tried to, anyway. Living in a motel was...not ideal.
She pulled on her favorite hoodie, a pair of skinny jeans, and the boots she always wore before darting out the door and to the corner donut shop to buy...well...all the donuts. Not all but a very healthy few boxes. It was fine, everything was fine. Aside from getting stuck in line, having trouble hailing a Ryde, and stepping into a puddle that turned out to be ankle deep. Yeah. She finally walked into the mansion kitchen, carrying one box of donuts less than she had been; her pants stained with pink and brown icing and sprinkles, her left pants leg was soaked, and the room emanated with a purple light from her palms.
"I uh....morning, everyone..." she said nervously as she looked around the room, setting all the donuts on a nearby table.
Skye looked at the boxes that filled her room and sighed, she hadn't taken much to California when she left, but she swore her clothes multiplied in the two and a half years since then. No matter, there was just one more left to pack, after all. As she reached the back of her closet, folding and tossing hoodie after hoodie into the box, she paused at the last outfit: a uniform. Gunmetal grey in color, accented with blue, complete with reflective cuffs that amplified the light from her palms ever so slightly.
In fact, as she looked, the room around her emanated with a blue light that matched her pixie cut, and as she picked up the X-Men uniform and held it in her hands, a single tear fell on it as she was overwhelmed by sorrow and guilt. She felt she was making the right decision by going back, but she also felt she was making the right decision when she'd moved to California, too. After a moment she very gingerly folded the uniform and placed it in the box much more gently than she had the hoodies.
"Hey, you okay in here, Rainbow?" A bright voice said after a light knock on the open door.
"Yeah, I'm good. Thanks, Darren. Sorry about leaving so….suddenly but–"
"You're good. Keith and I loved having you; you were one of our better roommates by a mile."
"It's been nice, really. I just…I don't know I guess I suck at goodbyes but I'm really good at the leaving part…"
"Hey, times change, seasons change, and so do people. Sometimes you just have to migrate."
"Sometimes I just wonder…maybe I never should have left," she murmured, sitting on the bed.
"I think you did what you needed to. You learned some lessons, got a couple of novels under your belt, and now you're going back home. Nothing wrong with that."
Skye smiled weakly, giving a nod through tears as the blue light never waned.
"How are you getting to the airport?" "Oh I was just gonna call a cab or a Ryde or something."
"Nonsense. Keith and I will take you. Even did you a favor and tore up your last rent check. Our treat."
"Thanks. You didn't have to."
"We wanted to."
The quiet ride in Keith and Darren's car turned to a quiet airplane ride, which turned to a quiet Ryde. Skye Sinclaire had finally made it….home.

Skye sighed, now merely picking at her fries. She had called Lenna because she'd thought it would be a good means to just forget everything. Emily would have easily picked up on Skye's emotion which wouldn't have been good for either of them. But somewhere down the line, Skye must have forgotten that she was an open book. And Lenna was not the average teenager.
So now the girl with the lights was put in the spotlight, in more ways than one, and she bit her lip, awkwardly looking at Lenna for a moment. "That's good he's doing well." And then the silence set in, and Skye's blue never wavered, never changed colors.
"Okay, fine...I was gone for two weeks because my Mom died, and I had to go back to Maine for the funeral and get things squared away. Remember my mom? Abusive, hated mutants, all around not a good person? Yeah...her. I felt nothing. Though I feel guilty because I feel nothing. The rest of my family is in shambles, and honestly...nothing really clicked until I got home a few days ago. So I just wanted to hang out, and forget this shit, ya know? And then being me, I have to choke my emotion down to prevent exploding and blinding everyone within arm's reach, and because I decided to move to new ****ing York, that's a lot of people..."
She sighed again, the lights growing more intense, threatening to reach critical mass before she closed her eyes, breathed, and regained her focus so the blue was down to a steady pulse. "Ugh...sometimes I just....I wish I couldn't feel anything!" she practically shrieked.
And then...Something...happened.
As soon as the words left her mouth and Skye felt all that emotion bubbling up and threatening to literally explode...
Her hair turned stark white. As white as snow. And the lights stopped. In fact, there were none, which with Skye was a rarity in of itself, but this hair color was new. She'd never been white before. And to make things even stranger, she felt....
Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Huh. How about that..." she remarked, looking at her hands and then her reflection in the metal napkin holder. Her voice was...flat. Monotonous. Lacking any inflection, and the usual, natural bubbly bounce in her voice was gone. Even her facial expression had gone completely blank. No feeling, no emotion. Nothing...

It honestly didn't take Lenna long to show up and slide into the seat across from Skye, who was only about half done with her burger by this point. Skye had just wanted to hang out, but the blue was kind of hard to ignore, she supposed. But again, she just wanted to hang out, not discuss her issues. She had to give the girl props for the song reference, she was going to be humming that she was blue every time she was well...blue. picked up
Skye put the half eaten ginormous burger down, and picked up a fry. She took a breath as the lights began to pulse a little. "I...it's nothing. I'll be okay," she replied, though her voice wasn't the bubbly, bouncy tombre that she was known for. It cracked, it sounded weak, and it was just....tired.
She shook her head. "I've been gone for...what two weeks? It's been awhile. How are things? Your boyfriend still doing okay?" She was trying to dodge the question, though maybe she wasn't very good at it. Her voice was still strained and tired, but she didn't want to focus on that, she wanted to ignore that...
Skye hadn't been having a good time as of late. She'd only recently gotten back to New York after an impromptu trip to Maine.
..Impromptu...wasn't the term. She'd gotten word her mother had died, and had to go back 'home' for the funeral and the will reading. Skye's Mom had treated her horribly once her powers surfaced, and they'd never really made things right. Nor did Skye want to. But she went, if only to see her family again. She had been...numb to losing her mom, if she was honest. She wasn't hurt. She felt no pain from it. What had made her feel bad was that she hadn't felt anything. And then after all that...her Dad was just....a shell of his former self. He'd spent the entire two weeks she was there at the bottom of a bottle. It was...heartbreaking, but again...she just felt numb, and any sadness or sorrow was just guilt because she felt numb.
She'd been back a few days and to be honest, she'd spent most of the time just closed up in her room. Alone. She hadn't wanted to talk to or see anyone. Until now. But....
She was sitting at the food court table, eating a burger that was loaded with bacon, cheese, French fried onions, jalapeños, mustard, ketchup, pickles...the works. And that was accented with a side of loaded bacon cheese fries. And a large chocolate shake. Of course. And yet...she was alone. Her hair was very solidly blue, and the immediate area around her was bathed in a sad, blue light. But she didn't know who to call.
She pulled out her phone, and scrolled through the contacts. Her finger stopped on Lenna. Yeah. She hadn't hung out with her....protege? Mentee? Pupil? Her teen friend. She hadn't just hung out with her teen friend in awhile. And maybe just hanging out would be what Skye needed.
So she opened her text messages. "Hey. I'm at the mall food court. Gonna be here awhile if you're free to hang. "

"I'm normally not nervous about that sort of thing, honestly. This is just new and...it's a little chilly in here," Skye replied with a small smile, looking over her shoulder at the tattoo artist. "I appreciate it," the girl added kindly as her head turned to face in front of her, bracing against the cold wipe, though a small squeak still escaped her lips; she was ready, but that initial shock was always a doozy.
Immediately afterwards though, the girl relaxed again, closing her eyes and preparing herself for Rayne to get to work. For the most part, Skye would remain calm and still, the lights occasionally changing colors to match her hair as her mind wandered and she focused on various thoughts.
"If aw we dae today is gie a sneak peak ay some marvel ay nature, Ah’ll call today a win." "Oh totally. This just is the last thing I was expecting," Skye murmured, the orange lights flickering between that and purple, obvious that she was trying to get it under control. "Til then, stick close. If there are mair ay this wee thing, we coods gie swarmed. For aw we know, they’re venomous." Skye immediately stepped back so that she was behind Becca, but still where she could light the way if need be. Right now though...that wasn't really necessary, and Skye was also thankful for the other light source because her emotions were really going haywire right now.
Her lights did help the situation, but the dim light from the cavern meant that thankfully the fact that her lights were now dominantly purple didn't really hurt things too much. Lizards, but none like she'd ever seen ran past.
"Alright, not in Kansas anymore, whoa." "Nae birds. They were definitely nae birds."
Skye froze, looking dead ahead as the lights went from purple to a color they rarely went to, and then even more rarely stayed there. Skye, Mirror, and Becca were bathing in a green light; Skye was ****ing terrified as she looked on, jaw agape.
"Dinosaurs. We are looking at f**** dinosaurs. We all see the dinosaurs, right?" "Well I'm not g-green with envy." Skye tried to be witty, to make a dry comment, but she felt a lump in her throat and her voice was shaky and cracking.
"Okay so uh....what....what do we do from here?" she said, looking up at her senior members, trying to kep her hands from trembling.

Skye laughed; this chick was quite interesting, that was for sure. "Yeah, but some gods just have to be complicated, and that's why nobody worships them anymore," she said pointedly with a sagelike nod.
"Well, sort of. Fae always have some sort of ulterior motives, and are known as the more mischievous beings. Though...who wouldn't sell their soul for a wild time with a Fey? Honestly." She smirked and brushed a strand of indigo hair out of her face.
Her face saddened a bit as the indigo lightened to a more somber blue. "Maybe, but at the time that's what it felt like. I was in a dark place, and to be fair the more explosive part of my power isn't anything to sneeze at." She relaxed into the couch, closing her eyes for a moment as the lights darkened, back to that shade of content comfort. She was glad she was getting the hang of that again.
"Damn, that does sound like it can suck. At least if nothing else I always provide ambient lighting?" with a giggle, she took another bite of her piece of sandwich. And another. And another, slowly making her way through it. "Well that makes one of us. I felt guilty just looking at it but...I'll face the consequences later." She giggled as she continued making her way through the monstrosity, eventually finishing it.

"You're welcome, Hun," she said with a small smile, and listened intently as Lenna explained the origin of her powers, or when she discovered them, at least. She spoke fast, and coupled with the accent it was hard to catch in places, but Skye clung to every word, weighing everything as they continued.
"Sounds like you've had a rough go of it," she finally commented, smiling as Lenna tossed the hat and caught it. "You did make it, yeah. I think I've heard the name Megan before, but...I can't place a face to it. Maybe if she's here, you'll run into her again. If it's the same one, I mean. It's a popular name." She smiled as she led Lenna through the door of the Mansion, showing her around.
"You're a very capable young lady. Strong willed, confident, and full of potential. I think this will be a good place for you, Lenna. If you need anything, and I mean anything, come talk to me, and I'll do whatever I can, kay?"

"Yeah, something like that," she said with a roll of her eyes. "Don't really get it. On the one hand society encourages you to be a virgin, but on the other those are the ones that end up sacrificed. Wait...maybe those things are connected on purpose!" she joked, a wicked grin spreading across her face. "Question is, are they secretly trying to stockpile sacrifices or is it reverse psychology?"
Skye shrugged. "All I really know about Fae are what lore I pick up from the occasional fantasy movie or the quite frequent fantasy RPG, if I'm being honest," she admitted. "I mean, Fae could break your sanity, but unlike the Eldritch Gods, at least you'll be having hella fun in the meantime." Another laugh, and Skye's mind wandered to the actual context of the conversation. They were just two girls talking, nothing implied here, right? Exactly. Besides, how often did the subject of gods and sacrifices come up? Answer: Not often enough, and it was something Skye was actually interested in.
"Well, nobody thought I was cute when I went through that depressive phase post-breakup," she said with a sad shrug, the lights flickering to blue. "Though after a few times, it did get people the hell out of my way. No line for the bathroom, free reign of the kitchen, instant use of the laundry room..." She had to admit, those had been pretty nice perks.
"I think I've vaguely heard of that, yeah," she answered with a nod, relaxing back on the couch as her hair reverted back to its peaceful indigo.

"I never understood the whole virgin sacrifice thing, she replied with a small shrug. "Why would ancient, all powerful beings demand something so....boring? Exactly. You'd think the old ones would want something a little less vanilla. And alcohol. Alcohol is nice."
Skye laughed shaking her orange-mohawked head. "I think heaven is objective. Like, I believe that heaven or hell is what you make it. Here. Not something to dream of--or dread--when you die. Personally I think that sort of ruins the point of life. If all you're worried about is what comes after....what's the point?" Another shrug as she took another healthy--or unhealthy--bite of sandwich. There was alot going on there, but she had to admit...it was pretty freaking awesome. She really had been trying to eat healthier to accompany her training, but...today could be a free day, right? Of course.
"True, true. Fake names are always an option with dealing with Fae. Though...I do see how I'm definitely more Fae. Bright, colorful, a lot less intimidating. And again, we already stated that virgins are boring." She leaned back against the couch, eating more of the sandwich as she relaxed after the handshake. Her hand felt normal, there was nothing odd about it except from the fact that her palms served as a light source. The color went from orange to indigo after a moment or two as she finished her bit of sandwich--quite handily.
"Oh that? It does spice up a party, but it's not something I can turn off. I'm learning to control it, but the colors are tied to my emotions. Orange is generally happy, right now, I'm comfortable. Content," she explained. "When overwhelmed with a negative emotion...I sort of...explode in a sense. You uh...might have heard about that if you've been around more than a month or so," she said with a slightly nervous laugh. "My emotions went haywire recently and....so did my powers."
”Sae Mirror has a mission wi’ ye under her belt awready? Ah need tae catch up then.”
"Yeah. Mirror's been a huge help in me getting the hang of my powers. When I first came in I normally looked like a light-show malfunctioned," she said with a slight giggle. "And that's not accounting for the multiple flash-bangs per week."
She smiled softly, thinking about blossoming friendships. She'd only ever been in two serious relationships, but they both started out exactly the same; she was in need of a friend, a friend stepped in, and she found herself falling head over heels. While Mari hadn't necessarily ended in the best way...she still had a chance to not mess up the current one, right? The light flickered blue, and then something pinged off of Becca's shield, breaking Skye's train of thought as the light flickered to green and then purple.
Skye approached much more slowly than the other two. She wasn't sure what she'd expected them to come across, but it wasn't anything like this, that was for sure. "I'm...I'm no expert either, and I don't know what the hell that is," she murmured, the nervous purple not going anywhere. "Maybe but if that's the case...then this might not be all that's down here." She bit her lip as the light turned red-orange and she swallowed what fear and nervousness she had. Slowly, she took a few more steps forward, her brown eyes looking around the cavern, pointing her hands to light the way; she didn't go far, but she was just making sure.
Did something just move? She was sure she saw something move, but when she shined her light there, there was nothing. "Yeah...I'm starting to think we're not alone here..." she breathed, still keeping her determination about her.

Skye's face was red, as her heart fluttered a little and her eyes stayed glued to her sneakers. Skye wiped her own eyes, rubbing them until they were bloodshot as Mari spoke.
"I could never hate you," she croaked out, biting her lip. "I tried. Trust me. I tried. When we were together I promised I'd never hurt you, and I did. Yeah you tried to end it in the worst way, but...that doesn't take away what we had. You...you really changed my outlook on things. I never thought I could handle a relationship. I probably can't handle one ending, but....Thank you," she said, finally looking up.
"Oh, right. Yeah. I was just...walking, actually. It's...it's nice to see you too," she admitted. "Oh, yeah." She nodded, blushing a little at Mari's last question. "No. I still have it," she said quietly, admitting that she didn't delete Mari's number. She didn't even delete all of Mari's pictures from her phone. Further proof that Skye didn't succeed in hating her ex, as much as her salty bitter side had wanted to.
"Well, uh....take care," she said awkwardly, not really knowing what to do from here. Go for the hug? A handshake? Just walk away?
Taking a breath, she pulled Mari into a very quick, probably very awkward hug before she turned and went on her way, not looking back, her hair flashing orange as soon as she left the aura.
She laughed slightly, a smirk teasing her lips as she looked over at the other girl, her hair and lights slowly fading to orange. "True though I've probably got enough dents on the top of my head to make up for the lack of the ones on my face," she said with a shrug, not really thinking about the 'headboard implications' of that joke; she was tired and her head was still a little groggy. But the prospect of actually having someone else to talk to was appealing; for someone as outgoing and bubbly as Skye was it was a wonder she didn't have more friends than she did.
"Of course that'd be more appealing; it's different. Besides, virgins are boring," she said with a roll of her eyes. "Like if you want fun you mix up a cocktail and leave the bottle of water in the fridge." She smiled as she was handed a piece of the monstrosity that was the subject of their conversation.
"Thanks," she said, taking a small, inquisitive bite from the sandwich. "Okay so I just got thirty-seven cavities from just biting it but...that's actually good," she commented with another smile as she took another bite. She smirked again at the introduction, the area around her still bathing in the happy orange light.
"Alice, huh? Don't you know to never give your name with Old Ones are involved?" she teased, then blinked. "Or was that Fey...?" She gave a quizitive look, then stretched out a glowing orange hand to shake. "Skye."

Skye already had her back to the chair, so it would be fine, right? And it was to achieve what she needed done. She wasn't nervous, or shy by any means about this, but having a girlfriend sort of made her rethink a lot of things. "Okay. I think I'll just lose them for the time being, if you don't mind," she said idly, staying exactly like she was, but leaning back enough to remove the shirt and bra, but dropped them within arm reach.
She shivered slightly as the air hit her bare skin, but she resumed leaning against the chair so that nothing was exposed, and she closed her eyes and focused again.
"Alright, I'm ready," she assured, preparing for what was to come, but still trying to stay as relaxed as possible. She'd remembered hearing that it was better on both if she didn't tense up.
