The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Some of her surprises were good, but Emily didn't dislike them? That sort of made sense. After all, she didn't dislike Skye after all, so it was perfectly logical--"F*** it." That really got Skye's attention, and her eyes locked onto Emily's as she spoke, and...was what she was saying even real? She was sure they were, and there was no way she could imagine all of that, right?
Both girls were still in a somewhat embrace, their matching beet-red faces mere inches from each other, and Emily just confessed that she did in fact have feelings for Skye. The pink light pulsed steadily, going faster than even her own rapidly beating heart. Jesus that thing was racing; she almost wondered if it was just going to explode out of her chest in a minute. That or her red-hot face would make her head explode.
But at the same time, she was confused. There was Mari, who was a maybe. And then there was Emily who was right there. It was confusing. But it'd been two whole months and she hadn't even heard from Mari. Ugggggh...why couldn't Skye's feelings be as easy to deal with as they were to read? But there were several reasons why feelings weren't as easy as 'Oh, that's pink' or 'that's blue.'
"Well," Skye said, not breaking eye contact, "I know I don't have to tell you how I feel, so I won't," she said flatly, still looking into those eyes as she was sure sweat was beading on her brow and the exposed part of her head. There was a logical way around this, but she wasn't exactly a logical person. Especially not over the past few months, and definitely not right now.
She took a breath, the pink light pulsing purple as she closed her eyes, and then closed the distance between their lips, her breath catching sharply.

"Yeah...I guess I do, but part of me is just wishing I was the type who could just say the hell with it, and let it go. End of story," she sighed. "It's gonna work out, one way or the other. That much I'm sure. And in the end...it'll all be okay. After all, I've still got you. You promised, she teased lightly, giving her friend another squeeze.
They'd been hugging a pretty long time, and Skye had to admit, she felt a lot of things in Emily's arms. She felt safe, comfortable, lov--appreciated. Yeah. She still didn't understand why her feelings were doing this to her, but...she had to wonder...did she actually hate it? What she hated was not knowing if Emily actually felt similarly or if it was all in Skye's head. Maybe her feelings were best just to be sat on in this case. Or more literally...bathe in the light of them but never let them go beyond that.
Her eyes shut, she hang onto Emily's words. Until she got to one that just...stayed in the air, and it caused Skye to open her eyes and pull back just enough to attempt to look at her friend.
"But what?" she asked, cocking her head to the side, a look of intrigue and yet confusion on her face.

"Oh I sure hope you can," she said, biting her lip a little at the comment. Teasingly, she started to dance a bit away from the other woman, a glint in her eyes as she never broke eye contact. Eventually she danced her way back, as close to April as she had been before. Skye noticed the space the other party goers where giving the two of them, so she figured she might as well make use of it.
"It sure is..." That smile was plastered across her face, their entire immediate area bathing in a pink light. "Oh, the dancing is all me being cute~" she purred. And just like that, April was behind her instead, and that mischievous grin never once faltered.
She shuddered at the whisper, spinning to look at the other girl. "Oh, you keep this up, Hun, and you'll definitely see..."

The little bell above the door dinged as Skye walked into the shop, her mohawk lying flat against the left side of her head; a bright yellow that occasionally flickered to a nervous purple and back. The lights radiating from her hands followed suit, pulsing faintly. Clad in her acid washed denim jacket, a bright pink low-cut tee shirt, a matching pair of jeans and black boots, she looked just like she'd stepped out of a punk-rock music video. In her hand, she held a folded piece of paper as she looked around the room, taking a breath.
She'd wanted a tattoo for awhile, but was only now getting around to doing something about it. Maybe it was because the emotional nonsense she was going through was motivating her, or maybe she found it from elsewhere, but the fact was the young woman was here now. And she'd finally actually decided on something. She took another breath as she approached, her hair now a more steady yellow, showcasing her excitement to any who knew her.
To those who didn't, it would probably just look like her hands lit up, and her hair changed colors.

"Oh, definitely~"
She snorted a little. "Yeah they can be, but yeah I'm probably the hottest mood ring you'll find," she said with a sultry smile. "Stop? Nah, I don't think I will..." she teased, giving a flirty wink to top it off.
"I decided to experiment a little. Though I'll still wear my old wardrobe, I kind of prefer the mohawk to the bob cut, at least right now," she said with a shrug. She kept time with the music and her new dance partner, just letting everything flow natural, from the movements of her body while dancing, to the very words she spoke. "Oh, I'm always alluring, trust me~"
She giggled, that smile growing even more mischievous as the other woman spoke in a low tone. "Hun it is then, at least until I can come up with something more fitting..." As her heartbeat practically kept time with the music, the lights on her hands kept a similar tempo, lighting up the area with a sultry pink glow.

Inwardly Skye was thankful she didn't drive Emily away, and though she said she wouldn't leave, Skye was still wondering. She was sure something was liable to do it. But deep down she didn't want to find out what. So, she'd just naively assume that Emily really wasn't going anywhere. Ever.
"Sorry about that," she said. "If it helps I don't even understand them right now," she pretty much whispered. Her smile grew at the squeeze, but surprisingly the room did not glow purple at the comment; in fact the pink lights pulsed a little more intensely at the words, but calmed as Emily continued speaking.
"I guess I do need closure or...something. Or maybe breaking up the last time we saw each other was supposed to be closure but I just refused to accept it...ugh," she groaned. "Well, you've been worth my time so far," she murmured softly, head still on Emily's shoulder, giving her a squeeze. "And you are awesome. Very much so." Which is why I'm having the problems with these ****ing lights right now...
"Maybe not all of my surprises are good but...I'm glad you're not going anywhere," she said, possibly repeating herself. She wasn't sure at this point, but hey, only some of the butterflies were emotions, the others were the alcohol. At some point Skye thought maybe she should let go of the hug, but...she just stayed there.
"Yeah, that's true," she murmured, looking at Emily.
"Y-you don't?" she said softly, and then listened to the explanation. It helped, but surely Emily knew the strange cocktail of emotional bull Skye was dealing with right now, right? Oh right...she knew *everything*...great. Well, she was sticking around, which was a good sign; Skye just didn't know if the alcohol had helped there or not. Oh well.
"You may not make it easy but you've softened the blow a good bit," she admitted. "And you've helped me get back on my feet." You've also given me these weirdass feelings that I don't know what to do with but I'm going to try to ignore that for now, she thought to herself.
"Maybe...I was just so happy to find that....I'd be okay with just one person. That I'd be okay with....settling down, having a steady relationship...only to find that maybe..." she took a breath. "That maybe she wasn't okay with being with me," she said, her voice shaking, the lights flickering blue.
And then they went green with surprise as Emily hugged her, and a grunt escaped her lips because she was not expecting an iron grip. But the lights still flickered pink as she turned into it and let her arms firmly yet tenderly wrap around the other girl.
"Good. I'm tired of driving people away," she said flatly.
"I told you," she said, looking into Emily's eyes with a smirk. "I'm full of surprises~" She winked before laying her head on her friend's shoulder for a moment, just basking in the pink glow that lit up that corner of the room.

Skye was pretty blatantly checking the other woman out as well, and there wasn't any hiding it, especially not with that smirk still plastered on her face. "Good to know~"
She smiled at the compliments. "More like a walking mood ring. But you could say rainbows are sort of my thing," she purred, grinning back. "Thanks. You're pretty pleasing to look at, yourself, hun," she added. Again with the adorable. Was that like the magic word or something? But in all fairness, she didn't mind in the slightest. Adorable, she could work with.
"Sort of a new look. Sorta grew tired of hoodies and a bobcut," she said with a shrug as she too danced closer to the other woman. It'd been awhile, but some things you just don't forget. In fact, her movements and behavior were as if she'd never missed a beat.
"So," she said after a moment, "you got a name or should I settle for calling ya Hun all night?" she asked with a wink.

She opened her eyes, noticing that people were staring at her, but she guessed, due to the lights were giving her a respectable distance, which to be honest was kind of lame. Mostly because she knew her mutation was roughly 90% harmless. Most of the time. Yeah.
Or maybe she was just relegated to providing the stage lights, which honestly, was even lamer. But it didn't matter, she was dancing her little heart out, showing off her moves in her jacket and form-fitting jeans, and someone was liable to get the nerve to approach sooner or later. They always did.
And then, as if right on cue, there she was, a stunning blonde right in front of her. "Sparky?" she said with a smile."I like that." She continued dancing, though now her gaze was focused on the newcomer, her eyes twinkling a little as her hair and lights flicked to yellow and back to orange. It'd been awhile since she'd been somewhere like this. Too long, so the excitement continued to bubble up a little bit. Yeah, she was back in her element.
"Name's Skye. But you? Feel free to keep calling me Sparky~"

Okay, Skye was done being mopey, done dwelling on things she couldn't control, and done with being confused about her ****ing feelings for Mari or Emily or whoever the hell else decided to waltz into her life and make her go all head over heels and all that happy bull****.
So, it was time to shake off that mopey, depressed blue color, stop hanging around at the mansion, and just....go back to what she did best. And that's why the girl was at some college party, already one--only one--drink deep. She knew better than to drink anymore than that; she wanted to have fun and remember it, after all. She was wearing her acid washed denim jacket, matching jeans, black boots with silver studs and rainbow laces, of course rainbow armbands, all topped off by her black choker with the metal, rainbow colored skull.
Skye was currently in the house's living area, which currently functioned as a dance floor, her orange mohawk never once containing the least bit of product so it just lay against her head, flowing as she danced, eyes closed. In fact, when Skye hit the floor, someone dimmed the lights so the orange light pulsing from her hands also served as mood lighting. Though she could *swear* she could feel herself being pushed, almost like people were trying to get her to the center of the floor to illuminate the room better, but Skye really didn't care.
Now, she was in her element. To hell with exes, to hell with drama, to hell with love. Tonight, was all about fun.

Skye was listening, but she felt about a million miles away from it all. There, but not there. It was the hand on her shoulder that brought her back to reality, and she looked over at Emily, the side of her face resting on her arms as the other girl spoke. "You do?" she asked, blushing slightly. Normally, Skye loved her power too, but the downside of it was becoming a doozie, she found. Especially with these odd...feelings she felt bunched in. Was it even sincere or was she just clinging to the first person to scoop her up after her breakup? She *liked* Emily but those thoughts earlier were...ugh.
"I wish I just...didn't care as much as I do," she said flatly, giving a light shudder as she felt fingers running through her soft, product-free mohawk. "Like maybe this shit would be a whole lot easier to deal with, ya know?" At this point she wasn't sure if she was talking about the breakup or these new....feelings, but it was probably safe to assume both, all things considered.
"I understand. Wallowing was....easy. At least until your ass came along!" she looked up and forced a smile, her hair flicking back to orange, and then a more affectionate but less lovey pink.
"I do love her, I mean, I think I did? But for the past two months I've just been...hurt and angry. And confused. Definitely confused." She gave a nervous laugh as she broke eye contact again, laying her head back on her arms. "Honestly....as long as I've got you...I'll make it," she almost whispered. "I know I'll be fine, eventually. I just wish I was already there, ya know?"
She re-positioned herself to look at Emily again, giving another smirk. "Oh yeah. I'm totally an X in training," she said brushing her mohwark out of her eyes. "Surprised~?"

Skye had finished her cola and just stood with her upper half propped up on the table, looking down as the now purple mohawk draped around her head. She liked being around Emily, she really did. She liked Emily as a person. But she didn't have feelings for her. She couldn't. Right? Yeah, of course.
The question hit Skye like a ton of bricks. "Sometimes I wish they weren't tied to my emotions. Something I could just do, ya know? Or that they could be a little more useful than just a brief flashbang. Or that I could...I don't know, use them to fly or something instead, pretty much anything but this," she admitted, finding herself shaking as her hair and the accompanying lights turned blue.
"I was okay with my power for awhile. I really was. But after Mari and I went on br--no. Screw it. We broke up. There I said it. After that, everything went kinda...haywire. Not only did my grades drop, and I shirked my X-men training...I seem to have regressed in my power training as well. Like everything I learned just....went down the drain. So yeah. I've found myself wishing I had a different powerset entirely. One not tied to something as unstable as the emotions of a twenty-year-old girl."
She dropped to her knees and just lay her head on the table, the light going back to a frazzled purple that bathed....well, it pretty much just bathed her head because she had her head resting on her hands.

This wasn't remotely helped by the fact that Emily could literally read Skye better than most people, which would have been confusing enough if not for that. But here they were, with Emily sending off mixed signals and Skye sending out very accurate neon lights. Yeah, that was totally fair...
She didn't even want a relationship, but for some reason everything was going haywire. Ugh. Either shoot me or kiss me but for God's sake do one or the other, woman! She practically wanted to yell. But she didn't. Skye wasn't that crazy. Yet.
"There is nothing ****ing healthy about this," she muttered, mostly to herself but probably louder than usual; she didn't know.
"Well, we agree on something," she said, trying to focus her mind, but to no avail. "Now get your ass up, there's a raccoon necromancer begging for an ass-kicking" she said, but then she got up and grabbed another cola, popping the top and practically chugging it. Yeah, that would help.
She leaned herself on the table, not paying attention to her friend lying on the floor, or the view she was probably giving the empath, but she wasn't thinking about that. Right now, she was just trying to clear her mind and get her stuipd-ass feelings to calm down.
Skye nodded, deciding to focus on her breathing. Yeah. Breathe. Focus on the game. She closed her eyes a moment, but that damned pink wouldn't go away.
"You found me when I was on my own," Skye corrected. "And if you recall....I most definitely was not fine," she said, her voice growing slightly shaky with....nerves? The hell? "You're right. I guess in that sense it's a two way street. I just can't help but feel like I've been more needy," she admitted.
"Who am I gonna tell? Honestly." She looked at Emily with a deadpan expression and HOSHIT she was super close. Her hair was now an embarrassed shade of purple as her eyes drifted to Emily's face. Her smile. Her lips...dangerously close.
Nope. Uh-uh. Not gonna happen. No way. She breathed, closing her eyes again, hoping that maybe when she opened them again she'd be a safer distance back.
Nope.
She kept her eyes glued to the screen, trying not to focus on her....rather attractive....really close friend being right there while Skye herself was dealing with whatever this emotional bullshit was. Uuuuugh.
"So maybe this has been healthy for both of us," she finally said, trying to stave off the awkwardness. "You're right, I'm an idiot sometimes." There we go. Deflecting it with self deprecating humor. Perfect.

She blushed at the comment, her hair briefly turning pink from all the warm fuzzy feelings that flirtatious line was instilling in her. Part of her embraced it, but the other half was more than a little uncomfortable.
"That one, I'll give you," she said with a laugh. "Honestly, she'd probably be happy that I'm coming out of my shell again," she said sincerely. "I think everyone's sort of missed the old me. And...you're sort of bringing that back out," Skye admitted.
Then, her face got more somber at Emily's last question. "I don't know. Honestly, at this point....I feel like I need you more than you need me," she admitted, looking at the ground. "I mean, I know I'm fun to be around, and you enjoy my company...and to be honest I enjoy yours too. But I don't know that you need me."
