The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Ted listened to her talk. She started rambling more and more. There was less and less information that was getting through to him by now. All this information was way to far above his 14 year old head. Nothing was sinking in and nothing was really making sense. Thankfully she changed the subject back to him and what his original reason for coming to the library was. “Huh? Oh ya my book… I came here looking for some books, fiction or nonfiction that might tell me a little about transformations. And I’m not just talking about mutations. I’m talkin about full body transformations.”
It was probably an odd statement but he thought that perhaps someone had written some fictional stories about what he can do with his powers. “I actually found one but I’m not sure if it will tell me what I’m looking for.” Teddy was actually surprised that he could find anything that he was looking for since it was such a strange topic and he didn’t really think that someone would actually write about it.
So he was partly right. That was a good sign because he at least didn’t look like a complete idiot in front of the person he just met. Twyla then continued to explain it so that he would understand what she was talking about. It worked. When she related it to the actual biology subject he understood what it meant. The mental picture in his head helped him get what she meant. He imagined a group of people standing in a small room with doors that led to other rooms and outside. As she explained it he continued to imagine what she was saying was going on with the people in the room.
“Right. That makes sense I wouldn’t want to be stuck in a crowded room all night.” Ted agreed. Diffusion sounded like a complicated process and he didn’t want to ask any more questions about it because he might end up getting completely and hopelessly lost in this subject without any prospect of comprehension. “I think so. It’s basically a cell getting more breathing room and room to expand, right?” He said making sure that he was still on the same page as she was.
The explanation of the differences in Biology sujects worked well. It answered his question directly and just from the sound of it, it sounded like he wouldn't enjoy more book work and less fun. Ted nodded his head in acknoledgement that he understood what she was talking about. The second question didn't see, to be such an easy one to answer. It seemed to take Twyla a little bit longer to answer. When she did answer it wasn't even a real answer. He then felt like he was talking to Yoda or some other movie character than never answered questions directly.
Since Ted didn't know what a foyer was he decided to give it his best guess. "They go outside?" He said completely and utterly unsure of his answer. He didn't know what she was talking about and she would have to do better at explaining things than what she was doing at the moment if he was going to get it. By now Ted looked thoroughly confused and it didn't seem to be getting better.
Ted nodded his understanding with spending a lot of time in the library. The last few years, before he found out he was a mutant, he had spent lots of time studying because he wanted his grades to be good so that he could get into a good college. Although finding out he was a mutant seemed to have, at least for the moment, put his plans on college on hold. She was apparently not that excited about the subject she was studying. But maybe that was just from studying for so long. “I’m 14 and no I haven’t even taken regular Biology.” Ted answered her questions.
The young boy had no idea what diffusion was and was tempted to ask. However, her seeming lack of interest seemed to dissuade him from trying to figure out what on earth she was talking about. “What’s the difference between advanced biology and regular biology? It seems like once you learn regular biology you’d know all you’d need to.” Ted was actually losing interest in school because he was more interested in learning about his powers and what he could do than what happens when you subtracted x from y. She must have pretty good control of her powers if she’s trying to learn advanced biology. Ted thought as he took a look a the picture in the book of the cell. After staring at the picture for a bit his curiosity took over him. “What’s diffusion? I don’t see how it works in this picture.”
Ted listened to her reply. Twyla. Ted thought that was a very unusual name, but he wasn't going to tell her that because she might take offense to it. Ted didn't know enough people here yet to get on someone's bad side. "Hi Twyla." he replied as any normal person would. This would be an interesting conversation if the awkward silences continued. Hopefully they wouldn't happen to often. Before another silence could occur he answered her question. "I haven't been here that long. Maybe a month or so, so I haven't met to many people here yet." was his reply.
Ted then glanced down at her books on the table. To be honest it all looked like German or Chinese to him. It obviously wasn't in a different language it was just that Teddy hadn't even taken high school biology, and that was to not even think about advanced biology or whatever it was that she was studying. "What is that you're studying? It looks like gibberish." Ted took a step closer to the books as he said this. Maybe she would understand it enough to explain some of it to him. But then again he didn't know many people that were interested in explaining school work to younger kids. But there was no telling with some of the people here. And since most were friendly she might explain a little to him even if she didn't know a lot of it yet.
What was it that a normal 14 year old wore to a Halloween party? Well there was always the theme from some movies that he’d recently seen, or there were always things from TV shows and comic books. And then there were the less original people who dressed up as ghosts and such with sheets over their heads and eyes holes cut out so they could see. But Ted was looking for something creative to wear. His parents continued to send him some money whenever he needed it so that he could go out shopping and any other need that he saw fit. He’d spent most of the day walking around going from store to store looking for a suitable costume. Ted had found a couple of costumes that he liked but most were for kids that were like 3 years old.
Teddy finally found a costume that fit him. He also liked the look that he found. It had a very futuristic Xbox 360 game look to it. As he was walking back to the bus to go back to the mansion he noticed that there was a huge place getting ready to throw a Halloween party. Most of the employees were dressed up and were making it look very authentic and like it was going to be a great party. Ted was actually only going to wear his costume on Halloween night to go trick or treating around town but this would be a pretty cool place to try it out and see how people react to his costume. Ted walked past any workers that were there unhindered and straight to the bathroom to change. Since he’d just bought it a minute ago he hadn’t even gotten the chance to take the tags off it.
Ted found a trash can in the bathroom, threw the tags in it and quickly slipped on the costume. He decided not to put the helmet on quite yet because if he saw anyone he knew he would want them to recognize him. Teddy looked himself over in the mirror before walking out the bathroom door and stashed his normal clothes under one of the tables that was starting to fill up with food. Now all he had to do was wait for more people to arrive and the party would begin. Ted walked around the building looking at all the decorations that were being displayed and all the employee’s costumes. Their costumes looked very authentic, or at least the pirates did, anyways.
As the older girl climbed down from the table he slowly started clapping. A smile crossed his face also. The girl didn’t seem to care that he was watching her dance on the table. Needless to say it was something that Ted certainly thought would have more people watching if there were in fact more people around to see it. “No you didn’t disturb me. I was just curious to see what happened when I heard the chair fall over. I wasn’t studying or anything. I just came by to pick up a book to read.” Ted told her. He wasn’t sure what kind of day she was talking about. Did she mean one where you just felt like dancing? Or did she mean one where the only thing that seems right is when you listen to music? Ted hadn’t had either of those but he was definitely enjoying himself at the mansion so far so he couldn’t complain. Her sudden quietness was created with her sudden lack of rambling. It actually caused an awkward silence for a little bit.
“You’re pretty good.” Ted told her. He was trying to get rid of the awkward silence that was filling the room. “I’m Ted by the way.” He said holding his hand out to start the introductions between the two. Since she’d, in his mind anyways, already broken the ice he wasn’t that shy with her. If she hadn’t been dancing on the table and making a fool of herself then he would probably be to shy to talk to her. But seeing as she was already a little off her guard from dancing it wasn’t that bad. “How long have you been here?”
Ted wasn't one to go to the library. He didn't like to many books but there were some that he rather liked to check out every once in a while. One in particular that he decided he should read was Metamorphosis by Kafka. Since Ted had learned about the book he thought it might apply to him in one way or another. Wether it actually concerned his powers or not he thought he might want to give it a try. It was already late and he was mainly concerned with getting the book so that he could start reading it after he woke up the next morning. As Ted headed towards the library he didn't see any one so he thought the place might be closed. He was wrong. When he'd first seen her he could see that she was studying hard. Teddy didn't want to disturb her so he stayed as far away from her as he could as he looked for the book.
He'd just managed to find the book when he heard the noise of a chair falling over. Curious to see what had happened he walked to the end of the aisle he was in to see the girl dancing on the table. That's definitely a different way of studying. Ted thought to himself as he walked over to the table. He wasn't going to disturb her dancing but it was certainly something that wasn't seen on a regular basis, especially in the library. Ted leaned back against the table that was behind him as he watched the girl dance. She was good. Much better than he was, and he didn't consider himself a bad dancer at all. Ted thought about joining her dancing. The only draw back was that he didn't know what she was dancing to and he couldn't hear the music since it was in her ears and not in speakers. Ted set the book down on the table he was leaning on and decided to watch her dancing until she finished.
It was another rather uneventful day for Ted. After sleeping in and spending as much time dawdling as possible he decided that he was going to go into the living room. There has to be people around here somewhere. As he aimlessly wandered to towards the living room he heard a loud noise followed closely by a couple of moans of pain. The noise gave Ted a little bit of an excuse to hurry up. There was something going on and he was curious about. Of course Ted wasn’t sure how much he would be able to help much but he would like to do as much as he could.
Once he arrived he saw that there were two girls in the room. They were apparently the cause of the noises he’d heard only moments ago; however, already seemed to be helping each other up. Thankfully no one got seriously injured, but perhaps he would be able to have a nice conversation with them before he went about his currently boring day. He took a look at the girls in front of him. One was a particularly good looking girl and second was yet another good looking girl. Even better for him to start a conversation right now. Both girls were obviously older than him but he still didn’t worry about that. Everyone he’d met so far had been friendly and Teddy hoped that these two would be no different. Ted finally spoke up and walked a little farther into the room. “Are you two alright? That looked like a pretty bad fall the two of yall had.” He took the last few steps that he needed to be next to the two girls as he waited for an answer.
Ted smiled at Shin who seemed to be currently making gun motions with his cast. Ted was swept up and away by Shin once more. This seemed like an unending event at the moment but Ted didn't mind because it was easier than walking around himself at the moment. As soon as he was set down Teddy started to poke his head through the door. Shin had only opened it a crack and Ted was able to see what was inside there. Whenever it was opened just enough Ted bolted through the door. He wanted to have some fun running around this room also. It wouldn't take him long to be have his fill of fun in the living room for the moment. Before anything could be done Ted was already well inside the doors and jumping up at the couch. Unfortunately it was to high for him to get up on so Teddy sat there for a few seconds before moving on to a different area. Maybe getting on one of the recliners would be easier.
Luckily it was and Ted was sitting back in one of the recliners like any normal stuffed animal that was left there by the owner. He thought it was a pretty convincing mock that he was doing. From here Ted could see the TV and the Wii along with the rest of the room. Ted supposed that many of the students didn't know that the Wii had arrived otherwise there'd be an abnormal amount of people in the living room trying to get a chance to play it. Ted then moved back to Shin. He was enjoying the tour more as a beagle than he probably would if he were human at the moment. The young boy figured that they'd stop by the infirmary because Shin had mentioned it while they were in the kitchen. Although wherever they went next didn't really matter to Ted.
At the mention of his sister being a councilor he thought fora moment. "Oh Miss Raina is your sister? I like her. She's rePly nice." Ted replied to the man. She actually never seemed to be around much but she always seemed to be there whenever someone needed her help or advise. Ted hadn't been living at the mansion long enough to hear about the X-Men living at the mansion. His eyes lit up at the mention of the xmen being here. He'd always heard a out them being around the city but he never thought that he would end up living in the same place as them.
This guys answer told him that if she was one of hem here then there would be many more around the mansion. Although, finding this out didn't really chnge much. His powers weren't exactly made for fighting but he thought it would be cool to see them in action. The man then tried to make conversation so Ted decided to humor him. At least he's trying. Ted thought before he answered. "I can turn into stuffed animals. Any kind of stuffed animal."Ted responded. Teddy was never sure what people wanted whenever they asked him that question, so he always gave them a blanket answer. It always seemed to either peak some ones interests or satisfy their curiosity once they heard his answer. Ted waited to see his reaction. Ted also looked at the other man who was standing there to see if he got a similar reaction from him as with the first guy. The young boy then turned to the other man that as there. "I came here to get a better understanding of my powers." He answered simply. This answer was also something that sounded like a blanket answer but it was the truth and it was the answer that the other man was looking for, so he gave it to him.
Ted was glad that they didn't linger in the classrooms. If you've seen one you've seen them all. Ted thought as they moved from classroom window to classroom window. The short amount of time they were in front of each classroom was long enough for him to get the idea that there were plenty of people here that went to school. Their next stop was the kitchen. This was important and although Ted wasn't sure sure if he could find these places again by himself it was good to know that he'd been here previously.
Being around the kitchen made him hungry. The food smelled so good from his position on the counter. Ted dashed between the toaster and microwave. Both were just a tad taller than him and so he decided to jump on top of the microwave and over to the fruit that was sitting around there. Teddy sniffed them for a bit before he was satisfied that the food was real that that he'd have to make sure he came back there to eat once he was back to his human shape.
Ted was getting picked up and put down left and right. It was like a roller coaster that forgot all of the safety features. No seat belts, no handle bars, no nothing. Sitting on Shin's shoulder was a little iffy though. It was definitely a bumpy ride and he struggled to hang on. His paws gave a lot of effort and trying to grip Shin's shoulder and not go sliding off and onto the floor where Ted would probably have ended up in Thor's mouth. That definitely would have ruined his day. Ted listened to Shin as he started to talk about the places that were right around them at the moment.
Teddy made sure to note which side of the hallway was the girls side. Because he was such a good little stuffed beagle, he would never think about sneaking into the girls rooms. Although he did make sure to note that he shouldn't get caught if he, happened to be over there late at night. Ted had never had the luxury of going to a summer camp. However, he did think that he knew the rules that were usually in place at a camp. The next thing Ted knew they were walking through the halls again. They then walked into what was obviously the school's library. If you think two story libraries are big when you're human sized, try being about a foot tall. Things were alot... A lot? A LOT! bigger. Teddy was placed on a table once again. All the books seemed thicker than they probably were really. However, that didn't stop the beagle from looking around. He pranced around the table like he was a little cub learning to hunt. He'd pounce on one book and walk all over it before jumping off it and back onto the table. From there Ted would run from one end to another and try to jump completely over the books. He'd been in libraries before so this place was nothing really new to him. The young mutant did like to play around when he was changed. No matter the size he was it was still fun to move around and pretend that he was a real animal. After he'd had his fun he looked up at Shin. He was ready to go explore someplace new and maybe get to run around there also.
