Alex was starting to get used to life around this place. She'd already met quite a few interesting people, and was very much looking forward to the rest of the year. She was starting to believe that she might actually fit in, and that made everything else seem so much more simple. She sighed, a tiny smile gracing her lips as she kicked off her shoes and propped her feet up on the arm of the couch. The man on the television was droning on about something or another, but Alexis couldn't care less. Tucked under her right arm was a ratty old book. She'd read it so much that the spine was practically falling off...and she was about to read it again.
She was well on her way to getting through the first chapter when several things seemed to happen at once: there was a loud crashing noise from somewhere nearby, Alex jumped, her book went flying, and she hit the floor. Hard. For a moment, the room seemed to spin around her. Very slowly, she brought her hand to rub the back of her head, but didn't bother to try and get up.
"Ow..." she groaned.

If you only have one set of eyes it is generally suggested that you use them to guide you about. Not everyone heeds to this suggestion. Today Twyla Ashby was one of the people that disregarded it. Instead, she had her brown eyes glued to the page of the book that she was reading. That book in question happened to be The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman It really was a good book, so far at least. Twyla was a bit over halfway done with it and that was because she had found it hard to put down. It was so hard to put down, in fact, that when her eyes failed to see the end table (because they were not guiding her and instead devouring the words on the page) and she fell over the book remained in her hands. This of course made her landing all the harder.
“Oof.” was the only noise that escaped her lips as she fell because she was too surprised to think of anything else to say. This noise was followed by the bang of her body hitting the floor and then that bang was echoed by another a few seconds later along with an “Ow...” At this point Twyla was very confused, both about the fact that she had just tripped and about the echoing noises across the living room. Wanting to investigate, she stood up and checked herself for damage. No harm done, apparently, she even managed to keep her place in the book. Now she used her eyes to survey her surroundings. The echoing bang and the exclamation of pain had come, she assumed, from the girl on the floor–probably because she fell off the couch. It was amazing what your eyes could tell you.
“Are you okay?” Twyla asked after she walked over to the girl on the floor. She bent over to pick up what she thought was the girl’s book and then extended a hand to help her up.

It was another rather uneventful day for Ted. After sleeping in and spending as much time dawdling as possible he decided that he was going to go into the living room. There has to be people around here somewhere. As he aimlessly wandered to towards the living room he heard a loud noise followed closely by a couple of moans of pain. The noise gave Ted a little bit of an excuse to hurry up. There was something going on and he was curious about. Of course Ted wasn’t sure how much he would be able to help much but he would like to do as much as he could.
Once he arrived he saw that there were two girls in the room. They were apparently the cause of the noises he’d heard only moments ago; however, already seemed to be helping each other up. Thankfully no one got seriously injured, but perhaps he would be able to have a nice conversation with them before he went about his currently boring day. He took a look at the girls in front of him. One was a particularly good looking girl and second was yet another good looking girl. Even better for him to start a conversation right now. Both girls were obviously older than him but he still didn’t worry about that. Everyone he’d met so far had been friendly and Teddy hoped that these two would be no different. Ted finally spoke up and walked a little farther into the room. “Are you two alright? That looked like a pretty bad fall the two of yall had.” He took the last few steps that he needed to be next to the two girls as he waited for an answer.
