The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Actually I couldn't have." Ted said a little afraid that she would be mad at him for not stopping her talking to the seemingly normal bunny. "I can't talk when I'm in a stuffed animal form." He realized from her laugh that she wasn't upset with him. Ted couldn't help but laugh a little along with her. "No not at all. I do the same thing when there's no one around. I like to talk to the stuffed animals before I try to copy them. It makes me feel more in tune with them ya know even though they can't talk back."
Ted was still pretty surprised that she wasn't upset with him. Although he also could believe that he'd just said what he did to someone that was still practically a stranger. As Ruby's tail wagged back and forth he figured that even though she looked a little like a fox, what she was doing with her tail seemed more typical of a dog. Though to be honest he was glad that she wasn't mad at him.
“I must sound so silly talking to a bunny rabbit, but I guess I need to talk to someone about things. As much as I like talking to my Big sister, I wouldn’t mind maybe having a friend to talk about things with. Its alright though at least I know inanimate objects will always listen to me.”
She wants someone to talk to, huh? Well if I can figure out how to get out of this stuffed animal I'll talk to her. Well better start working on how to get out of this. Ted began to concentrate on himself. He thought about what he looked like and after a minute or so he started to feel the changes reversing. Just like in the beginning, the changes aren't very predictable. His ears shrank to their normal human size and moved to the side of his head. His tail disappeared and he started to grow. As he grew his fur receded and his hands and feet turned from paws back into human hands and feet. Finally his face started to return to normal. Ted was just a few seconds away from being fully back to human when he tried to sit up. This didn't go well and because he forgot how close he was to the edge of the couch and ended up falling off it.
"Ommf." Teddy pushed himself up and sat back down on the couch. "Sorry about that. I got bored laying on my side." Ted explained. He wasn't sure whether she would buy it and be cool about it, or run out of the room screaming, or jump up and squeeze him until he popped. Ted decided to continue just like nothing had happened until she stopped him. "Nice to meet you Ruby. I'm Ted." Well it was a start. After all he'd just turned from a non talking bunny to a 14 year old boy in front of her.
Ted hadn’t been in the Danger Room before this, and being in there now was something that was very cool. Twyla’s demonstration was really cool. Ted had to agree with Gawain. He’d never trained in the Danger Rom before. That could be a lot more fun than being at a wedding. Hide-n-seek; now that was something that he would be really good at. Especially if there was a room full of stuffed animals. Other than that he wasn’t sure he’d be that good, because Ted seemed to think he would stick out as a random stuffed animal in the middle of some place it shouldn’t be. Of course he could always find something small to turn into and hide. That would make him a lot harder to find.
The young boy took another drink of his soda. “It’s not often full of weddings is it?” Ted asked seriously. Since he’d only been there about a month or so he didn’t know how often this room was being used by others for things like parties and weddings. With so many people living in the mansion they were bound to have things like birthday parties on almost a daily, or at least weekly, basis. Otherwise he wasn’t really allowed in the Danger Room by himself. Although getting in with someone who was old enough would be a cinch since there were so many kids older than he is.
Twyla had no problems helping Ted search for the book. It was probably because she was just looking to get away from studying a little more. Ted followed Twyla as she led him towards the right spot in the library. A.A.A.A. Where were these books? They didn’t seem to appear anywhere in the library. Just as he was thinking they weren’t going to find anything she stopped and stooped down to see the books hiding there. “Thanks a lot for the help Twyla” Ted said to her. She’d been a great help and he was glad that he’d met her here and able to get some help from her.
Teddy picked out a couple of books. He’d start at the beginning of the series and work his way to the end. Hopefully she was right and he would be able to get some information from these books that would help him grow in his powers. “Sounds like fun. Bye.” Once Ted had gotten the books, he checked them out and left the library deciding it would be better to read them in his room than sitting in the library and reading them.
Ted nodded. He was very interested in learning about his power. Even if he didn't know what or how exactly the books would relate and help him get better didn't matter, the only thing that mattered was that he was getting help and getting a lot farther along with her helping him than he would if he was looking for books by himself. "That's cool." the stuffed animal shifter commented. He made a mental note to look up those Animorph series on Youtube when he got the chance.
Teddy looked at the book that he'd already found and thought for a second about her offer. It wasn't that he didn't want her to help him, it was more of the fact that he wasn't sure how much time he had to actually read a lot of books. Although Twyla was offering to help him find something to read, and that didn't seem to happen often. "Ya I wouldn't mind some help looking, since I'm not really even sure where to look." he told her.
Ted wasn't sure what they thought of his powers. Maybe they thought they were weak and maybe they thought they were cool. Whatever they thought it was clear that none seemed as impressed as Twyla was when he first explained his powers to her. Somehow when they were talking he never got to asking her about her powers. He listened to each as they all explained their powers. Emerald seemed to have two completely different sets of powers. She was right. They didn't go together at all, but since she didn't argue with it, then who was he to argue with what worked when he'd been here probably the shortest amount of time out of all of the people sitting at the table.
Twyla had very cool powers. Or that's what Teddy thought. Her powers, and his, could prove very useful if they were playing hide and seek as a team. He seemed like they all had pretty cool powers. Although he did have to admit, Emeralds suggestion to Gawain's powers would have made his all that much cooler. What made sitting at this table even cooler was the fact that not only did all of them have very cool powers, but they all had unique powers that none of them had any relation to. None of them had anything specific that they shared with each other. The closest they came was Ted turning into stuffed animals and Emerald turning into a wolf. But other than that the people's powers were different and very cool.
Ted took a sip of his coke. He supposed it was his turn to talk. The question wasn't very subtle, but with this crowd and with the friendly atmosphere of the wedding it didn't really need to be subtle. Did it? He took a deep breath. The stuffed animal shifter still wasn't exactly comfortable discussing his powers to people that he considered still strangers. Learning someone's name didn't exactly make them someone that you could trust. It also didn't tell you anything about them, as was evident at this school. In fact most people couldn't have any guess what another person was about just by learning someone else's name or sharing a drink with them. "Well. My powers, or talents as you put it..." Ted gave a short laugh. "Well you might think they're weird." He was getting really nervous talking about this.
"I can turn into any stuffed animal I can touch. I can also control the movements and stuff while I'm a stuffed animal. So like I can walk around and run and jump and such while I look like a stuffed animal. But I have to work on it. It takes me a while to get used to being in a new stuffed animal form. So if you catch me as a certain stuffed animal for the first time and you didn't know it was me you'd think I was just a normal stuffed animal cause I wouldn't be able to move or do anything." Ted explained. The explanation came out easier than it ever had in the past. He picked up his drink and drank quite a bit from it. He hoped that it would calm his nerves from what he'd just said, and he was right. After Ted put the drink down he was feeling more relaxed. Teddy waited for their responses to his statement or for them to continue on with explanations.
Finally she finished. Ted gave a sigh of relief inwardly. If it could have been heard outwardly he would have done it. This Ruby character was someone that apparently liked robotics. I wonder if robotics stuff is part of her mutation. Ted really had no way of asking her until he changed back. Haha. A talking bunny. Now that's funny, but a girl talking to two stuffed bunnies is normal? What a weird place. When Ruby sat in front of him was the first time he noticed her tail. Is this girl turning into a fox or something right before my eyes? Or does she normally look like this? Well I'd better try to do something before she turns into a fox and decides to use me as a chew toy. Looks like she may have done that with her other bunny already quite a few times.
With this decision made Ted tried to move. As it was his first time the rabbit would be rather stiff for him to move. Now what would make her see I'm not a normal stuffed bunny? He pondered this thought for a minute while the two sat there. Finally the answer came to him. Ohh! Jumping would get her attention. Maybe I can do that. Ted focused all his energy on getting the rabbits feet and legs to move how he wanted them. Straining, and straining, he hoped to hop just a little bit. Ted was now breathing hard as he struggled to have himself move. After about a couple of minutes it worked. He felt himself move. Unfortunately it was only one foot and it only looked like a twitch. His foot twitched. Maybe Ruby would have noticed it. Maybe not. He tried again. This time he stopped before he twitched again. Wait did she just offer to adopt me? I don't need an owner I need to move! And who's Leo? Some ravenous pet of yours that likes chewing on poor defenseless stuffed bunnies? Oh well. Back to trying again. Focus. Focus. Focus. He kept repeating to himself. Once again he felt himself getting about to move. Teddy focused harder and right when he thought he was about to jump. He fell on to his side. Ted laid there on his side, on the couch, staring at Ruby curled up in front of him with her other bunny held closely to her chest. Ted sighed again inwardly. Man this is embarrassing.
Ted saw a young girl walk into the room. Finally he was going to have some company to watch the TV with. The girl was about his age, although she was carrying a stuffed animal around. Isn't she a bit old to be carrying that around? Ted thought. Apparently she likes bunnies. That wasn't necessarily a good thing for Ted. The girl gave out a little yelp and picked him up. She began hugging him tight and he started to panic. Ahhh! What is she doing? Put me down! I can't breath!!!! When he was finally put down Ted took in a deep breath. Unfortunately nothing on him moved because this was the first time he'd changed into this rabbit, however, he could feel himself breathing. Teddy looked up at the cute girl with pointy ears from his small bunny eyes. Even though his eyes weren't moving like normal eyes move he could still see her playing with some night cap thing. She's a little to hyper for my taste right now. Though I'm not exactly in the best position to be arguing with whatever she wants.
Youre just so cute Mr Bunny, I wish I could keep you but you probably belong to someone else.” Ruby put the bunny back down, but then put her own rabbit next to him. Buster the rabbit was a little worse for wear, he was obviously well loved and well played judging by the wornness of his fur. He also apparently had a few scars from him ripping, but the little brown velvet covered rabbit still had that bunny smile on his face as if he was happy he was still so loved by his owner.
“That’s my bunny Buster! He’s been with me ever since I was really little, my mom made him for me and he has been my best friend ever since forever!” “I know this is silly that im talking to a Rabbit that’s not even alive, but its sometimes easier to talk to a stuffed animal and not a person ya know? I bet whoever owns you knows that.”
Ha! Ted's gaze shifted to the other bunny that had been set down next to him. It looked like it'd been through hell and put back together again. This was not comforting for someone who's first time it was as this animal. Ya I belong to someone. ME! Just don't mess me up that much. It was like she could read his mind. She then started to fix his fur. Ohh! Oww. Hey up there could you perhaps do that a bit softer? This isn't a normal stuffed bunny ya know... Oh wait you don't know. Crap! Is this what a puppy felt like when it was petted by an over excited toddler? He thought. It wasn't that she was being rough to him. He was just not used to this and it was a little unexpected. Otherwise he'd have to say that it actually felt nice to have the cute girl with pointy ears fixing his fur. Ya know I don't really mind looking a bit messy. Sometimes I even like the look. Ted protested inside the stuffed rabbits mind. But no matter how much he protested she wouldn't be able to hear him, unless of course she could read minds. Considering her current reaction he would have to say that she couldn't read his mind.
Ted took a taxi to get to the parade. He’d never been to one of these major parades before. All he’d ever done was watch them on TV with his family. But now that he lived in the area close enough to the main part of New York City he decided that he would go to this one. After all this was the major parade the state held every year. After this one no one really paid attention to any of the others until the Rose Bowl parade on New Years day. Crowds lined the street. People were packed like sardines next to each other and no one seemed to mind. Because he was so young he was able to get around people with a fair amount of ease. Ted dipped this way and dove that way as he made his way to the front of the crowd where the police fences kept the cheering crowds at bay.
It was a struggle to get as close to the front as possible. Once he was there Ted didn’t want to move for fear that he might lose his spot and have to fight his way back to the front. There were many balloons that started their trek up the boulevard and in front of the thousands of people. Bands passed. They were good, some were better than others but none of them were bad. Cars passed and most were annoying and boring as they passed by and the people inside waved at the crowd. When Ted caught the first glimpse of the brown nose he started cheering. It was Snoopy. Snoopy was one of the coolest balloons in the parade and he was sure to be there every year. Pretty soon more and more of the balloons started to round the corner behind Snoopy.
Ted smiled. “No actually that is pretty helpful.” He hadn’t heard of the series she was talking about but it did sound interesting. “I’ve never heard of that person, but if you think it might help I’m willing to check them out. Who knows I might even like the series.” Ted said. He thought for a minute. Control would definitely be helpful with his powers. If nothing else it might give him more ideas on how to get his powers to work more to his advantage than having him work around his powers.
At the moment Ted thought there were too many obstacles for him to overcome before he was able to start taking his powers to the next level. Whatever, that may be. Unfortunately he didn’t know when he was going to breach one of the barriers that he felt was holding him back. Maybe after some more work he would be able to figure that out. “Do you know where those books are?” He was now very interested in reading these books, especially if they would help him in the long run.
It’s hard to find a realistic bunny when all that’s around are things from Easter. What’s up with the weird colors anyways? There’re no real bunnies that look like that. So what’s the deal? But that was beside the point. So far he was having fun with his mutation. No one had seen him use his power since he’d shown Shin when he first arrived here. People were friendly and he was often busy keeping up with classes; however, he was usually able to go back to his room and practice, alone. He wasn’t super excited about practicing alone in his room, but he wasn’t sure where else he could do it. Eventually he got tired of the solitude and decided that he was going to practice in the living room. It didn’t matter if there were people there or not but he was just hoping for some company.
He’d just found a new stuffed animal that he wanted to try out and what better place to do it than sitting in the living room where there were possibly people to keep him company. When he walked into the room, there was no one there. Either way he was going to be alone while he was practicing. Oh well, at least there’s TV to watch. he thought as he sat himself in front of the TV, turned it on, and found a channel that he liked. Sitting on the couch, he focused on the bunny that he’d picked up while walking around the city mall. Build a Bear Workshop was a great place for him to be. It was full of new and interesting looking animals for him to try. It was almost literally like being a kid in a candy store. It was so hard for Ted to restrain himself from touching every little piece of stuffed animal that was in there.
His head started shrink as his ears lengthened and pointed up to the roof. Fur, or what posed as fur, sprouted out of everywhere as the rest of his body began to shrink down. If someone walked in at this exact moment they would probably run screaming in fear and disgust. Teddy’s entire body softened and he felt his insides turn to stuffing. His hands and feet shrunk into his body as fingers and toes melted into rabbit paws. His big human eyes turned into small beady eyes and his nose went from human looking to a small spot on his now rabbit face. The fur was finished spreading and as his body shrunk down to the correct size he started to remain motionless on the couch. Finally whiskers sprouted and he felt the transformation finish. The TV continued to play as Ted watched through his rabbit eyes. Whiskers and fur moved from the air conditioning that would blow over Ted every once in a while. Now what. He thought as he sat watching commercials.
Ted was glad to have people that allowed him sit with him. Since he only knew a hand few people it was nice to meet two more people right off the bat at the first meeting. They all seemed nice enough for him to enjoy their company. Being a young guy, Ted didn’t really understand why Gawain had given him a funny look. Because he didn’t get the look, he smiled anyways and sat down. “Thanks Twyla.” He didn’t realize that he’d made such a good impression with her, but since he did his smile grew even a little bigger. Ted however, caught Emeralds smile and his shrunk a bit. He didn’t see her teeth before but now that he had he saw that it was a more wolf-ish smile than a human smile. Or at least that’s the part that caught this kid’s attention.
Emerald had introduced herself to Twyla and it was one that was easy to remember. Just like the stone. he thought. “I’ve only been here about a month. But I’ve been having a blast so far.” As he sat down to join them another thing caught his attention. Her tail. His glance at it didn’t take to long, but he did think that she could help him with his mutation. His best guess was that she is able to change shapes similar to him. Even if hers was limited to just one form, she was older than he was and hopefully had more practice with changing than he did. But that could be discussed later. Now was time for him to enjoy meeting new people. It didn’t seem like long before Gawain reappeared with drink for everyone. That was nice of him. Ted thought as he took the drink. “Thanks man. Cheers.” Ted replied as he tapped his drink against Gawain’s to show his good spirit.
Ted was a little nervous going to this wedding. Not only did he not know the people that were getting married but he was also very young and wasn’t even sure if he was allowed into the Danger Room by himself. Of course he wouldn’t be by himself because there would be a lot of people there for the wedding. After deciding that since, whomever Maya and Sebastian were and had taken the time to invite someone so young and unfamiliar to them that he might as well attend. There was no reason for him not to; after all that’s where mostly everyone was going to be and what better ways to meet people than in a friendly and loving environment like a wedding. His suit was something that he’d been given by his grandparents before he moved to this school. They wanted to make sure that he had at least one good set of clothes in case he went to something formal. He didn't think they planned for him to be going to any weddings but why not. It was a formal event after all.
When he finally showed up he only managed to catch the tail end of the wedding. Not wanting to intrude he stood in the back and applauded as the bride and groom left the altar. Soon the room changed into a beautiful outdoor reception. Soon after it started to change people started mingling. They mingled faster than Ted could realize that he was standing there looking stupid. Teddy hadn’t been in the Danger Room before and seeing it change from a wedding ceremony to a reception left him standing there awestruck. People moved around him like he wasn’t even there and when he finally realized that he was staring like an idiot, he started to look for someone that he might know. Considering the fact that there were so many people here, he doubted that he would find anyone that he might know here. Teddy, surprisingly quick, noticed someone that he’d met. Although he didn’t recognize anyone that she was with he figured that she might be able to introduce him.
Ted made his way through the crowd of people meandering between the food lines and their seats to make his way over to Twyla. Feeling a little shy at first, especially when he saw the girl with a wolf’s tail, he cautiously made his way to her table. Ted had gotten just close enough to hear their names. Since there was a lull in their conversation he decided now was a good time to make his presence known. “Hi Twyla. I hope I’m not interrupting anything…Mind if I join you?” he said looking at the empty seat that was still available there.
"Well it's all to do with my powers." Ted began. He was still a little uncomfortable discussing his powers because, well, he was still getting used to them and talking about them made him feel a little uncomfortable. But if this girl thought that she might be able to help him then maybe it was worth a try for him to tell her. "My powers allow me to turn into stuffed animals. I'm trying to figure out how to hone them. Right now I don't have much control over them and I tend to spend more time than I like as a stuffed animal. I thought that maybe if I could find something on metamorphoses or what not I'd be able to get back to human faster and easier than I can currently." Ted explained. Surprisingly enough for Teddy, he found it easier for him to talk about it and a lot easier to explain than he thought it would be.
"I found this book called, Metamorphosis by Kafka. It's an old book but it seems like the only one that I've found so far." Ted said, grabbing the book and holding it out for her. Who knows maybe she'll know of a few more books that will help him with his search for information. Ted knew he'd explained it well enough but he wasn't sure that he could find anything other than fictional books that told of what one aurthor thought transforming would be like. No one would really know what it would be like except for him. Unless of course he met someone else that could do similar things.
