The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Henrietta sat up and yawned. Turning, she glared at the evil alarm clock that shrieked at her to get up. Muttering, she hit the 'off' button. "Leave me alone." Pulling herself out of bed, she got herself dressed. She had decided to wear a pair of lime green sweatpants and a multi-colored t-shirt. Putting her hair up in a ponytail, she thought about how weird she was for wanting to get up to exercise. Opening her bedroom door, she saw a note. She ripped it off and read. Twyla's up early? Silly girl.. "To the foyer!" Henri lazily jogged toward the room where her friend was.
Entering the large room, she saw Twyla and then a small girl. She had fox ears. Henri tilted her head. Hadn't she seen her on something? Hmm. Hmmmm...Oh! That picture that Emmy showed us! Aw, it's her little sister. Walking up next to Twyla, she turned and grinned weakly. "Good morning. You got up earlier that the usual early. Aren't you tired?" The brunette smiled at the younger girl in the most cheerful way possible. Well, at least as much as possible for a 16 year-old girl who had just woken up minutes before. "I'm Henrietta Braun. Lots of people call me Henri. Feel free to call me which ever." She paused for breath. For some reason, the sentences had become smushed together and the girl didn't stop for air. "What's your name?"
Henri almost asked if she was Emerald's sister, but had just heard Twyla ask her the same question before knowing what was going on. She really wasn't awake yet and this tended to make her seem a bit, well, dumb. Most of the time, she avoided long conversations when she was like this. Her friend Twyla had already seen her like this, but she hadn't even heard the other girl's name. Henrietta reached up and rubbed sleepily at her left eye. She would wait to see what the other girls said or did before making a fool out of herself.
Locke said he didn't know exactly what it looked like. This suprised Henrietta. She didn't understand how he didn't even know what he created. The brunettte thought about asking more questions, but let it drop. She wasn't sure if this topic was very sensitive with him or not. She figured it probably wasn't his favorite thing to talk about. Henri loved learning about what some of the other mutants could do. It never ceased to amaze her how many different types of mutations there were.
Henrietta wasn't quite sure what to say to the boy now, so she walked silently next to him. Maybe he'd be more comfortable asking her questions. Or maybe he just didn't like to talk much at all. Either way, she was cold and tired and didn't feel like trying as hard anymore. The Mansion came into sight and she sighed slightly. Comfort awaits! But first... She looked at Locke. "That's it. I'll try to find you a greeter when we get there. That's all I can really do. Sorry."
((After your post, I think we should end it. You can go talk to a greeter outside of this on a different thread or something. I'm afraid there's not much else I can do for you. I had a great time RPing with you and we should thread again sometime. If this doesn't work for you, please feel free to PM me.))
Getting on to the bus, Van jumped in front of her. It made her slightly frusterated until she realized he was paying for her. She told him thank you, as all polite girls do. He held out her hand and did something funny with his eyebrows. She put her hand in his and he yanked her onto the bus. The pair sat in a seat near the door like the last time. Henrietta wondered if he liked the thought of getting off fast in case something happened or if it was just out of habit. In a bigger city such as New York, she would probably want to sit closer to an escape route, especially if she was alone. Call it paranoia, but being jumped by a group of guys once was enough to keep her worried.
As they sat there, Van asked her a question. “So if I drop twelve dollars on memories will you promise me they won’t be the crappy, smelly kind that don’t develop right?” Henri looked at the boy for a moment and blinked. It took her a minute to understand the question. He was worried to spend a lot of money and then have it be a waste. She could understand that. Smiling, she shook her head 'no'. "I promise our memories won't be crappy and smelly, okay? I can't promise the developing part, but I have a feeling they will. Besides, I can pay for half of it. Or all of it. You've already bought me a Coke and my bus fare." She paused a moment to think. "You've paid my bus fare twice, actually. I don't want you to feel like you have to pay for everything." She looked at Van and then out the window. Her curiosity was getting to her. "So where are we going?"
Emerald apologized and Twyla patted her on the back. Henrietta gave the girl a huge smile. "Twyla's right. There's nothing to worry about." The brunette had been thinking about her mother, but had stopped as soon as the girl felt bad. She wasn't going to let her mother make her unhappy and ruin making a new friend. No freakin' way.
Maybe this was a bad question too, she thought when Em seemed to hug herself. If it had bothered her at all, she rebounded very quickly. Henri gave a small sigh of relief. Henri, you need to be careful what you say and do around new people. Knowing Twyla a while, she knew what would probably be okay, but she didn't know much about Emerald yet.
Both girls said they'd rather spout secrets. Henrietta tapped her chin in thought. She had secrets. They weren't huge or anything, but they were still secrets. On the other hand, she would be streaking everywhere. Streaking sound much, much more embarrassing. "I'm going to have to agree with you, ladies. I'd much rather be a fountain of secret knowledge than a nudist."
Holding out the paper to Twyla, she leaned back against her bed. She smiled at both girls and took a drink of soda. Yay for sugary beverages!
Once again, Henrietta was dragged along by the mutant boy. She smiled as she ran. He wrapped him arms around her as they ran through the large exiting crowd. Once on the other side, he set her free. It turned into a huge spin and Henri laughed as she regained her balance. She was momentarily dazed and the brunette blinked a few times to see clearly. Still feeling a little dizzy, she heard Van's cousin tell her to keep him out of trouble. Grinning at the man, she said, "I'll do my best. Nice to meet you!" Van then whispered that he didn't get into trouble and Henri felt herself smirk slightly. Why didn't she completely believe that?
"Come, power walk with me." Henri walked up next to Van and began to lift her legs the same way the boy did. He did say to power walk with him. She felt a little odd since she was in a dress. Thank the lord for leggings. This could be really, really awkward otherwise. The boy had said they had a few buses to catch. She tried to imagine where the pair could be going, but couldn't think of anywhere in particular. Following Van, she noticed a few people looking at her like she was strange. Instead of letting it bother her, she waved politely at them and continued her odd stepping pattern. Henri turned to watch Van for a moment. For some reason, he reminded her of a show pony. A very cute show pony.
Henrietta had really begun to enjoy the time she spent with Van. He was fun and a lot different than her. It's what made their time together so interesting, she thought. At the same time, she didn't feel very different than him. She wasn't sure why. Maybe it was because under all her fear, she didn't feel so wimpy. Most of her fear came from what people thought of her and if what she was doing would make her mother happy. Henri knew that it wasn't the right way to live or feel. Something about Van made her feel less scared of all that, in a good way. She just hoped that they could continue to hang out like they had been doing.
Henrietta followed the two to the next store with her new purchase in a bag. Smiling happily, she walked around the store looking at everything. The stuff was pretty nice. Well, overly nice. Overly nice meant you had to spend half of your life savings on everything. Grabbing a price tag that hung from a shirt, she looked at it. The girl thought she felt her eyes pop out of her head. Dropping the tag, she walked over and sat down. It's better if I don't look.
Looking at Juka, she thought he seemed disappointed. He then told Noel that nothing is too expensive if it was worth the cost. Henri bit her lower lip in thought. She supposed it was true in some cases, but it wasn't for her. Things could be waaay too expensive, especially if you were a 16 year-old girl living on a short amount of cash that was being sent from your mean mother. Grumbling quietly to herself about mothers, she watched Noel look at clothing.
The boy asked the question right back. Henrietta felt herself grin at that and continued to look at him. "Well, I think it would be awesome if you'd want to hang out more, but I can understand if you can't or something. I know it's a little early in the morning and you may have to do something later today." The girl knew that sometimes people had stuff they had to do, but she was hoping he didn't. She wondered if he asked her the same question to check for the same things. Maybe he was liking her too. That would be really cool. If we ever went on another date, I know where we could go. She smiled to herself. She wanted to see how he did at her kind of dancing.
Henri had managed to not look like a complete idiot on the floor, well at least she didn't think she had. She wondered what he had thought of her attempt at thrashing and whatnot. The girl almost decided to ask him, but thought better of it in case he had thought she was a total doofus out there. If that was the case, she didn't want to know. She tried to picture the stretchy boy poppin' it and almost laughed. Boys poppin' it in general kind of made her want to giggle. It wasn't him. It definitely wasn't him. Everytime she looked at him, she couldn't help but think how hot he was. That was almost enough to make her blush all in itself, not to mention her getting nervous.
She watched more people walk out. She rubbed one foot on top of her other one and waited to see what he had to say. Henrietta really hoped it would be good news. Maybe they could go talk or something. She didn't know tons about his family or friends or anything. The girl really wanted to get to know him better. So far, she really liked him.
Tywla was about to leap over. Henrietta clapped her hands together in excitement. She's got this. She can totally- A man's voice had made Twyla stop right before the hurdle. Turning, the brunette saw Juka Miami. The man who had found a beautiful dress for her over a month before. Henri felt herself grin. She had enjoyed hanging out with the man in the past. He was nice and she'd never met anyone else quite like him. Juka had a way of complimenting, which he did to Twyla as well. "Hey Juka. Twyla, this is Juka Miami. He helped me find that pretty dress that I showed you. He lives at the Mansion. You probably recognize him. He was at Central Park on Christmas Eve too."
Now that Twyla and Juka knew each other's names, she began to move more hurdles around. She had three all about 6 feet away. Backing up, she went back into her starting position. Taking off, she ran about 20 feet before making it over one hurdle, two hurdles, and...Henri stopped and doubled over. The girl took a few deep breaths. She was a little out of shape after all. Thank god for YMCA's. Laughing, she turned to Twyla. "It was a good idea to come here. I guess I could use the practice." Jokingly she added, "And maybe an inhaler..."
Walking back over to the pair, she sat down on the track. "So, Twyla, you've told me that you hate to run. What do you want to do? It's your turn to pick. I'll probably come back here at some point though." She looked over at the hurdles and narrowed her eyes. We will meet again... And they most certainly would. There was no way that Henrietta May Braun was going to give up, especially since she had had a vendetta with hurdles for almost a year now.
Looking back at Juka, she smiled. "So what are you here to do, Juka? Swimming, weight lifting, running..?" Henri didn't want to invite Juka along without consulting Twyla, but she didn't want to just walk away from him either. Striking up a conversation was all she could think of. She would wait to see how the blonde acted. If she seemed to want to move on, she was game. This was Henrietta's way of playing it safe. Well, they can't get along any worse than he and Noel did. Twyla's a very friendly person and so is he. The brunette had liked Noel as well, but her personality differed a bit from Twyla's. Maybe these two could get along without trying so very, very hard.
So sorry everyone! I finally posted. I didn't mean to hold anything up. My parents and I went to Sherlock Holmes and then I had 4 other posts I had to do too.
The two girls had sat for what felt like an eternity on the huge couch. Twyla asked when she had gotten so fat. Sighing, Henri poked at her own middle. “I could ask you the same question.” This conversation led to the idea of a magical journey to the YMCA. This of course, meant getting dressed. Wearing a pair of navy blue shorts under a pair of sweatpants, a pink tank under a jacket, and a pair of Nikes, they set out. --
Arriving at the large facility, Twyla took over as the tour guide. Well, maybe not a tour guide considering she had never been to the place before either. At the very least, Twyla was the Christopher Columbus. They saw a giant foam pit, a pool, and so much more. After seeing all the other things, they came to a track. Henri’s eyes became large as she looked at the giant oval. Quietly, she said, “It’s beautiful.” Out of the corner of her eye, she caught the blonde playing with one of the hurdles. She smiled. “I could teach you to jump one unless you rather do something else, but I at least want to tell you a little about it. You don't have to try though, okay?”
The girl dragged a few hurdles into places that she wanted. Smiling at her work, she brushed her hands together. Walking back to Twyla, she began to talk. “Okay, the thing about hurdles is that they don’t really want you to make it over.” Henri took off her sweatpants and pointed at a scar on her knee. “One bit me, but that’s the worst thing I ever got. I had stitched in it. Metal hurdles suck the worst.” Hoping she wasn’t scaring the girl, she smiled at her. “You just need to get your legs up high enough. Watch.”
Henrietta ran back a ways and then turned to look at the hurdle. Crouching down, she put one leg back and got into a starting position. She narrowed her eyes slightly and then took off. Running in great strides was easy for the long-legged girl. Coming to the hurdle, she leaped. Her right leg went over and her left leg followed easily. Landing on the other side, she grinned at Twyla. “See. That easy.”
Henri got the beautiful dress back on the hanger after it had put up quite a fight. It seemed that it didn’t want to set the brunette free at first. She almost began to panic at one point earlier when it blocked out all of the light and her arm was trapped in one of the sleeves. Fortunately, Henrietta had won the war that the piece of clothing had tried to wage on her. Opening the dressing room door, she hummed to herself as she went to find the odd pair she had left behind.
Standing behind Juka and Noel, she saw the woman eyeing a fur coat. Henri smiled but decided not to say anything. It seemed that that was Juka’s approach as well. He just stood there quietly. The brunette almost began to laugh at his lack of talking. She liked Juka, but this was the first time he hadn’t said anything.
“Well, how is everything out here? Good, I’m guessing. Everyone’s still breathing.” Henrietta laughed slightly at her joke. “So, do you want to move on after I pay for the dress, Noel? You can pick next.” She gave the other girl a smile.
Van asked the brunette if she had heard of KeSha or Owl City. Henri turned and gave the boy a huge smile. “Yeah. They’re pretty cool. Both of them are.” He had said that this band was kind of like them. This made the girl more excited. She should be able to dance to this kind of stuff. It was probably have a good beat. Good beat=good dancing. Good dancing=good impression on the hot guy. Well, that was the theory at least. The lights went off and Van began to whistle. Henrietta smiled. It was a great way to see what he was into. She thought it was cool that he seemed so excited. The girl knew that if she saw a band she really loved live, she would be yelling at the top of her lungs too.
He had been right. The music was a lot like KeSha or something. She grinned as she danced around. Henrietta wasn’t doing anything overly complicated since the place was so packed. Not to mention that certain types of music also required certain kinds of dancing. This kind of music called for a bit of wild hair shaking here and there and a small type of jump. Between these things, she would do little spins. Once and a while she would stop to watch the band or watch Van jam out. He was the type who flailed and thrashed around. She grinned at how cute he was.
After the show, everyone began to exit the building. She stood next to Van and watched people leave. She felt a knot build up in her stomach. Was she just supposed to go home now? She really didn’t feel like it and she was having fun with the stretchy boy. Turning to him, she smiled. “They were great. Very fun to dance to.” Blushing, she looked him in the eyes. They were pretty, a gray-ish kind of color. “So, do you want to go home?”
Emerald held out a sketch for the other two girls to look at. It was a family, Em’s family. Henrietta looked at the picture. It was very well drawn and everyone looked very happy. The brunette continued to look at it for a moment. It seemed that the wolf girl had two sisters. Henri had no siblings and she had no idea who her father was. Her mother refused to talk about him and would get very angry if the girl asked of him.
Twyla seemed to get a little choked up. Rapunzel felt bad for her. She knew that the girl had a few siblings and couldn’t imagine how much she missed them. All of this talk about family had made her eyes begin to burn. Surprised, she reached up to touch her own face. A tear had run down and left a wet streak. Henri hurriedly wiped at it. Why am I crying? An image of her mom flashed in her mind.
The thought of her mother made her both angry and sad. She missed aspects of their relationship. She mostly missed the part before they learned she was a mutant. They had had a pretty normal mother-daughter bond before. They’d do things together on weekends and then have stupid fights. It was weird how you could even miss stupid fights once they were gone.
The magazine was now in the brunette’s hands and she scanned the list. She laughed at the one she decided to do. They needed something to lighten the mood, in her opinion. “Alright, would you rather be naked in public or randomly blurt embarrassing secrets in large crowds?”
The girl, named Kasumi, supposedly, was complimented by the odd man. He said his name was Daimon Slever. Chris took the man’s hand as politely as he could. She knew from being with the fish-boy for a short time that he didn’t like people’s attention on him. In fact, it just seemed to make him nervous. Henrietta looked at Daimon. She didn’t like the way he had said “breed”. It made them sound like animals. The ends of her hair began to twitch angrily. Trying to be polite, she plastered a smile on her face and held out her right hand. “Hello, Mr. Slever. My name’s Henrietta.”
Turning to the redhead, she held out her hand again. She smiled in her normal friendly, adorable way. Henri had a way of being charming without meaning to be. Her personality was as authentically sweet and compassionate. “Hello Kasumi. I’m Henrietta. Some people call me Henri and as you heard, this is my friend Chris. It’s nice to meet you. “ She turned and gave Chris a smile to let him know that she understood if didn’t want to talk.
Looking at Daimon again, she felt her smile falter ever so slightly, but it wasn’t enough for the man to notice. Henri felt herself feeling a little guilty for judging the man so quickly, but something about him made her feel anxious. Trying to push those feelings a way, she nodded at the man. “So, why the interest in mutants?” Henrietta’s hair lifted and moved as if she were in a swimming pool.
