The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It had been an unusually boring Sunday afternoon at the Mansion. The girls hall was weirdly quiet and it felt as if Twyla was the only soul left on the floor. The book she was reading had gotten rather slow and she found herself constantly staring off into space our out the window and unable to remember what the passage she had just read said. After deciding that it would be a good idea to stretch her legs the girl had ended up in the hallway, staring at the door across the hall. From behind the new girl Henrietta’s door there was music–the first sign of life Twyla had heard in what felt like hours. The girl quietly crept back into her room and returned to the hallway a minute later with her arms laden with the skittles and cookies of her candy stash.
She knocked twice on the door before pushing it open with her shoulder and asking: “May I come in?” with a smile. --- An hour later Twyla was starting to feel the buzz of processed sugar in her veins and her giggling had reached it’s loudest. She and Henrietta had been sitting in the other girl’s room with the stereo cranked up talking, eating, and laughing and they were starting to warm up to each other. Taking a swig of her diet coke the blonde turned to the brunette and asked: “Okay, love letter or song?” She waggled her eye brows suggestively and popped an Oreo in her mouth. The girls had printed off some random easy questions and it had made it a lot easier to talk to one another and had also made for some interesting conversation up until this point.
“Oooh, I love this song! We, L-I-K-E C-A-R-S!” Boom by Prima J came on Henri’s stereo (compliments of one of Twyla’s random CDs). She shimmed to the beat from her spot on the floor next to the pop, candy, and chocolate. It had only taken Twyla a few minutes before Henrietta’s clean room had begun to look like the den of chaos that was her own bedroom.
Henrietta had been sorting through her clothes. She had to put away the summer ones and take out the winter ones, all of that jazz. She didn't have tons to put away but some shorts and shorter skirts. The quietness of the mansion had made her nervous, so she had her cheap-o boombox going. Song came and left as the sorting progressed. Ha! Done!
She was looking proudly at her work when there was a knock on the door. Right after the knock, her door creaked open. Turning to see who it was, she saw her new blonde friend holding candy and the like. Twyla asked if she could come in. Henrietta thought that was a silly question. The answer was a yes, of course. ----- Since having candy and soda, Rapunzel got a case of the giggles. It didn't help that Twyla did too. The more one laughed, the more the other would laugh. Henri had always known laughing was contagious, but this was ridiculous. Neither of them seemed able to stop. They had been asking each other questions and now it was the brunette's turn to answer. "Okay, love letter or song?" Before answering, a few more giggles slipped out. "Hmm. I'm gonna have to go with song. If someone takes the time to make up a song that rhymes, I'll think about it. What about you?" More laughing on Henri's part.
Twyla had started dancing to one of the songs on a CD that she had brought with her. Listening to it, Henrietta could tell it was Prima J. "Oh, I love them! I like the song "Rockstar" a LOT." This song wasn't familiar to her, but she began to wiggle on the floor. The wiggling was suppose to be dancing, but she was lying on the floor. Henri figured she probably looked like a fish-out-of-water, but she wasn't concerned with it.

“But what if he sings it to you and he can’t sing and you get a headache and then you get annoyed and break up with him and then after, like thirty years you meet him again and he’s married and still perfect and you have an affair with him and then you ruin his marriage and his kids hate you!?”Caffeine and sugar made Twyla’s imagination run wild with her mouth following. She didn’t take a breath at all with her exclamation and had to take in several gulps of air before answering the same question. Her tone was calmer and almost a bit dreamy when she said: “I’d most def want a love letter. In all the stories the love letter is the thing that gets the couple together. I’d want someone to pour out their heart and soul to me on the page so that I can read it over and over. I think that’s romantic.” Her hand was resting on her heart and she sighed after she said this. “Maybe I’m just old fashioned or weird or something...I just love the part In Pride and Prejudice when Elizabeth gets the letter from Mr. Darcy explaining everything...I don’t know, I just like the idea of coming together over a letter.” Mr. Darcy’s letter wasn’t really romantic, but when Twyla had first read the novel she had loved how much it had changed Elizabeth’s perceptions of the man she had so hated.
“Rockstar is a good song.” Twyla replied, standing up. She poked the girl on the floor with her toe before exclaiming: “This is the best part in the whole song! My friends back home and I made a dance for this!” ‘Slide to the right, slide, slide to the right.’ The boom box sang as Twyla moved her feet and swung her hips to the right. ‘Swerve to the left, no swerve to the left.’ Twyla’s feet moved to the left and she twisted her hips to the left in a slinky move. ‘Gas, break. Gas, break.’ She leaned forward and then back with her hands in front of her. “Whoa, let me catch my breath.” The blonde sang with the song and she fanned her face. “Prima J rocks my socks.” She confided with a laugh. “Oh! Oh! Oh! Speaking of socks--” With a leap Twyla was out the door and into the hall.
Henrietta listened as Twyla explained her point of view. All the words ran together, but she was still able to understand what the blonde was saying. Rapunzel nodded. “I can understand that, Twyla. I just..I’ve always loved music. I would be flattered if some guy did either for me.” She got a kind of dreamy look on her face. “I’ve never had a boyfriend or anything like that, but I would like to have one at some point.” In some aspects, it seemed like it would be awesome to have a guy, but in others, it seemed like too much work.
The brunette clapped loudly as Twyla danced around. The girl leaped out of the room when she mentioned something about socks, so Henri slid out into the hall also. When she got out there, she began to dance. She swung her hips side to side and held her arms up. Henri then swirled in a little circle. After that little move, Rapunzel shifted her feet in a semi-complicated move.
Henri couldn’t remember the last time she had had so much fun. She was happy and the sugar continued to move her. She hadn’t been so hyper in quite a while either. It felt good to be so spazzy with another girl her age. This was what it was like to have a real friend…
Typically, around this time of day Emerald would be out for her 5 mile run, however due to the weather being far colder than she would like, she was forced to stay inside. The Athletic young Lycanthrope made due though, by jogging around the entire mansion a few times, inside and out. Emmy had put on a pair of green sweatpants, green t shirt and placed her denim jacket over it as usual and had stared her run. Always running at a good pace, keeping herself hydrated with the water bottle strapped to her waist, Her I pod stuffed her other pocket and her headphones in her ears it looked like Emerald was the a rather good example of great athletic health and shape. Working out had always made the wolf girl happy and had become a perfect way for her to work off all of that excess energy. At the moment she was in a euphoric state of one of her favorite Songs to work out with and the pure energy of running with no inhibitions or worries. Well with the exception of not running into any people or destroy any of the mansions various wonderful expensive items.
She was only on her first part of her run when her own work out music clashed with that of a rather loud and girly song. Inwardly, Emerald cringed from the horrid clash, her up beat eighties rock causing more pain than auditory pleasure for her now. Removing her one part of her happy combination music and working out her keen hearing picked up the direction the music was coming from and decided to go investigate.
When Emerald found the source of the loud music, only due to the fact she was already on the second floor of the mansion and the face that the door was now wide open with 2 girls dancing out in the middle of the hallway. Emerald stared at them for a moment, her blue and green sneakers tapping vaguely to the beat she once had from her own music. Being a dancer herself Emerald was hardly able to help the urge to dance, but she managed to restrain it when she thought of how much this song had hurt her sensitive ears earlier when she had her headphones on, listening to her music. Dark blue eyes looked at the two with amusement clearly written on her sharp looking face.
“Having fun clashing perfectly good Duran Duran with your Prima J?” Emerald asked, with mock anger in her voice. However, the female could hardly hide the laugh that erupted from her lips, it wasn’t that she was trying to be mean it’s just the situation was hilarious for the wolf girl. She wagged her tail back and forth wildly as she looked over at Twyla, the girl she had met from the wedding and a new girl who had long hair. Emerald was now glad she didn’t work out outside today, because otherwise she wouldn’t get the chance to see these too dancing like loons.

Henri followed Twyla into the hall, all the better to shower her in socks with. Before she opened her door she watched the other girl dance for a moment. As she twisted the knob she joined her and they made a bit of a spectacle of themselves–two teenage girls dancing in the hallway, but surely the Mansion had seen it before. Twyla was so into jamming out that she forgot to go in her room, forgot to look up when there were footsteps in the hallway. She was surprised when she heard a voice above her. “Having fun clashing perfectly good Duran Duran with your Prima J?”
“Why yes, yes I--” Twyla looked up and realized that Emerald, the girl she’d met at the wedding was standing in front of her, dressed for a run. “Why hello!” She exclaimed in a voice that was much took loud for the situation. “Sorry.” Twyla apologized, giving the girl an embarrassed smile. “Nice to see you again, Emerald. Henri,” She turned to the brunette and motioned at the wold girl with one hand. “This is Emerald. Emerald,” She turned back to the other girl. “This is Henrietta. We’re eating way too much sugar and being intensely girly. Would you like to join us?” It looked like they’d interrupted Emerald’s plans but Twyla felt the need to give her the offer anyway.
Since she was hyper and more than a bit scatterbrained because of it Twyla suddenly remembered why she was in the hall in the first place. Abandoning her ‘normal’ facade that she had attempted to throw back on when she saw the workout girl she walked into her room and came back out carrying two pairs of giant socks. “Aren’t these the most amazing things you’ve ever seen!?” She threw a pair at Henrietta and held her own pair up to show Emerald. Twyla was unashamed of her strange behavior at this point, the other girls would like it or leave it and that suited her just fine.
((OOC: Totally fine, we decided together that it would be an open thread. This is pre-Christmas.))
Henrietta and Twyla had become lost in the Prima J music. Dancing and giggling in the Mansion's one of many hallways. They were enjoying themselves and had forgotten why they had left the brunette's room, so it seemed. This continued until a new sound entered the area. A voice.
A girl had stopped to talk to them from the 2nd floor. She looked like she had been working out before coming across the two hyper teens' dance session. Twyla introduced the girl as Emerald. "Hello Emerald. Like she says, I'm Henrietta. You can call me Henri or Rapunzel if you want. Nice to meet you." Henri was just meeting people all over the place. She loved it. The more she talked to people, the more people she'd get to know. The more people she got to know, the more friends she would have. It's funny how things worked that way.
Remembering why she had left Henri's room, Twyla went into her own. After a few seconds, the blonde reappeared holding two very large pairs of socks. Excitedly, Twyla asked, “Aren’t these the most amazing things you’ve ever seen!?” Rapunzel grinned when she threw a pair to her. "These are awesome! And giant!" She held them up and twirled as if modeling a dress. When she stopped, she giggled. "Very cool. Great idea, Twyla." Henrietta really did think it was a great idea. She wasn't sure why, but it seemed fantastic. Giant socks. What a concept for a hyper 16 year-old to behold!
The fact that Twyla remembered her made Emerald smile a bit, she was glad she had made an impression on the girl. Correction, she was glad she made a good impression on the girl, due to her tendency to making bad first impressions on people. Upon being introduced to the other girl, Emerald managed a wave and a “Hey Henri, You can call me Emerald, Em, or anything else you can think of. It’s Nice to meet you too.” Emerald’s tail wagged as she spoke, and a grin crept across her face showing her sharp teeth.
It would appear that emerald was having an easier time getting to know people than usual. At that point, the wolf girl noticed that Twyla had actually asked if she wanted to hang out, much to her surprise. Emerald had never been asked by the other students of the mansion to hang out, before, so this was an event. The record books would have to have a new entry added to include this moment in history: Emerald was asked to hang out and act like a girly girl.
"I suppose I can act like a girly girl for a while. My five mile run can wait," Emerald stated, trying to act all suave and cool like she usually did, but she was actually cheering in her head.
And now they were talking about socks and how awesome they were.
Alright, Emerald could work with this, she would have to make some sort of comment about the awesomeness of the socks. In truth, Emerald thought that the socks were just long and orange and nothing more than that, but she would have to make something up in order to join the conversation. Her thoughts desperately tried to form some form of coherent sentence about socks, stating their usefulness outside of protecting feet from the cold.
“Yeah they are totally great and orange and large and…If you use them as stockings at Christmas you can probably fit a lot of candy and a whole bunch of grapefruit in there!” Emerald exclaimed, smiling sheepishly.
Why in the world she said that she still had no idea, but she might as well take the idea and run with it. She secretly hoped that what she said was funny to the two sugar high teenage girls.

Henri and Emerald were all squared away introductions wise and it was a little weird for Twyla, being the person in the middle. When was the last time she’d been able to introduce people to one another? It was off putting, knowing everyone she was having a conversation with (marginally at least). Emerald’s plans were now safely tied in those of the other two girls and Twyla hoped that all parties involved would have a good time doing whatever it was that the three of them were going to get into.
“So giant!” Especially on girls that are only 5'6. “But they weren’t my idea...” She twisted one of her socks up in search of a tag. “They were Machine Washable’s idea.” A giggle escaped there, she was getting really silly now. Turning to Emerald she replied to her comment about using them for Christmas stockings: “I think I’d like the grapefruit better, it’d get me skinny again after the holidays...Although you might lose them in here, what with all the orangeness.” To Twyla the wolf girl looked a bit nervous or shy or something of that nature. In an attempt to make her feel more comfortable she shot Emerald a mega-watt smile to let her know everything was cool and that there was nothing to be worried about.
“The best part of these things is that on me they’re like pants. I’ll show you.” She flung open her door and escaped into the messy bedroom quick as a flash. It would take her a few minutes to search for what she was looking for and for her to change, giving the two girls left in the hall time for awkward conversation.
Now that Henri knew the other girl, she felt more comfortable. Twyla had gone into her room to show how her socks looked like pants on her. Rapunzel smiled at the girl, Emerald. She still looked a bit nervous, but that was easy to understand. Twyla and Henrietta have been acting very silly. Maybe this girl wasn’t used to acting in such a way. Again, that was something the brunette could understand. She couldn’t have ever acted like this with her ‘friends’ back home.
“So, Emerald. That’s a pretty name.” Henrietta loved learning people’s names. There were so many different ones, but not as many as there are people. She always thought it’d be more interesting if only one person in the world had a name. Nobody else. Henrietta knew for a fact someone else had the same name as her. Well, at least she did at some point. She was named for her great-grandmother.
“If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your ability?” Rapunzel smiled and made her hair move. A piece of it waved to the girl. “That’s mine. It’s also tougher than the average hair. I’m not quite sure how much help it would be to anyone, but it sure is unique.” It definitely was unique. She’d never seen anything quite like it. People had said it reminded them of Medusa, but it wasn’t made of snakes, so yes, it was quite different.
Operation grapefruit distraction worked perfectly and Emerald was able to keep the conversation going without looking like a total moron. Not only that but she managed to get a smile out of the other girl which made the wolf girl sigh in relief. Apparently, she wasn’t as bad as she thought she was at the whole silly socialization thing as she thought she was. Just as her thoughts began to trail off Twyla scuttled into her room, leaving her out there with Henri and herself. Luckily, the other girl saved Emerald from making a fool of herself once again by speaking and Emerald smiled at the thought of her name being pretty.
“Thanks, you’re names really pretty too, I haven’t heard anyone having that name before so you’re name is unique.” Emerald responded, feeling it was weird that she just said the word pretty, which was a word that seldom left her lips.
Now when Henri mentioned powers her tail started to wag and she tilted her head to the side when she saw Henri’s hair waving. That was a power she had never seen before and she had to admit it was kind of cool looking.
Emerald removed her water bottle from her belt clip an her I pod from her pocket and placed them both on the floor. “Well this is one of them.” Emerald replied, just before she morphed into her wolf form.
It was an easy transition for Em from human to wolf and it only took a few seconds. Soon instead of the muscular young woman there was a large wolf standing before Henri, wagging her tail back and forth. Emerald’s wolf form was bigger than most wolves and more bulky from the sheer amount of muscle. Black fur with red mixed in it covered the wolfs body and the only semblance to human that remained was the fact that Emerald’s eyes were the exact same color as they were in human form. She padded up to Henri with a obviously happy look, and wagged her tail as so as she got directly in front of the other girl. Then Emerald barked and wagged her tail some more, looking like a happy wolf, instead of the stereotypical terrifying wolf.

Twyla hummed to herself as she searched for what she was looking for. The best way to model giant socks was to pair them with shorts, right? But it seemed like all of her shorts had decided to vamoose for a while. Eventually she found a pair of blue ones in the crack between her headboard and the wall. The shorts were obviously on protest because of the state of her room. Maybe it would be beneficial for her closet if she tidied up once in a while...
After some epic hoping Twyla emerged from her room a veritable butterfly of the ridiculous outfit. Because you can’t mismatch on the bottom and not have your top half a little crazy. As soon as she stepped foot back in the hallway she forgot what she was going to say. Apparently Emerald was showing Henri one of her powers. Having never seen the girl in her wolf form (and being totally caught off guard by seeing her that way) Twyla was speechless for a moment before she burst out with: “Oh my god you’re like a puppy!” A really big puppy, but to Twyla a puppy nonetheless.
Without thinking she walked over to the large wolf and patted it atop the head for a moment. Realizing she hadn’t asked permission and that in human form that would have been awkward touching, Twyla pulled her hand away and stammered: “”Sorry, that was a little over the line.”
Emerald had turned into a wolf. At first, Henrietta felt like screaming. It surprised her, but after a minute her eyes got big. “Aww…You’re SO cute!” The wolf girl’s tail wagged and she came closer to Henri. Restraining herself from touching the girl, she turned and looked as Twyla walked out of her room and exclaimed her surprise at the ‘puppy’ as well. Without contemplating it, she patted Em on the head. She wore a very random and colorful outfit. “That’s a really adorable outfit, Twyla!” Henri grinned at her blonde friend. Her friend looked a little embarrassed.
Henrietta doubted that Emerald would be mad and also wanted to touch the big, fuzzy wolf head. She managed to keep her hands to herself and smiled. “That’s a very cool power, Emerald. Does everything look different when in that form?” Henri was always very curious about powers. She tried not to overdo it with questions. Mutants were more than abilities and Henrietta tried to ask more ‘normal’ things.
“Hmmm….I’ll be right back.” The brunette ran into her room. She thought of something random that she wanted to put on and show the other girls. Leaving the two girls to have a moment alone, she closed her bedroom door. Heading straight to the place she knew the items were located. Opening the drawer, she began to rummage around.
Cute and puppy weren’t exactly words that Emerald had heard to describe her wolven form. The more common words were mutt, mongrel and murderous fiend among some of the higher class folk, the wolf wasn’t exactly used to the whole being nice to wolfy thing. So when she got petted, her tail stared wagging back and forth happily. It was in those moments Emerald forgot she was actually a teenager turned into a wolf, now she was just a happy Doggy getting her head pettings for the day. Wolves were descended from dogs after all and unless Emmy was in battle mode she was completely open to happy head pettings.
She listened to the girls and would have answered, and then she remembered that if she did, she would sound like freaking Scooby Doo so she didn’t say anything. Twyla seemed embarrassed she had pet Emerald and had stopped instantly. Henri seemed to marvel at her ability, just before she went off into her room, leaving Emerald and Twyla out I the open. The wolf went up to the blonde and nudged her hand with a big warm fuzzy head. Once she had succeeded it on getting it on top of her head again the wolf let out a pleading whimper and started to wag her tail again. Her eyes looked up at Twyla pleadingly, looking like she really wanted some head pettings.
‘Come on you know you want to’ is what that look said

It was like Henri and Twyla were playing tag-team, as soon as one was in the hall the other dashed into her room. This left Twyla alone with the girl she’d just petted awkwardly. The girl wasn’t totally sure how to recover from her little adventure in awkward touching but it turned out she didn’t have to. Wolf-Emerald came up to her after she moved away and whimpered. Puppy eyes do work wonders on some people, like Twyla Ashby for example. She couldn’t resist the face. “Well, okay.” The hand came back from her side and the petting resumed. “Do people pet you often or is the typical reaction more of ‘Holy crap a wolf!’?”
“It’s kinda weird, I have to say. Let’s just pretend like this isn’t weird at all, okay?” Twyla was babbling now as she ran fingers through the other girl’s(wolf’s?) black and red fur. “My dog used to get in fights with coyotes, not the same thing at all...Our neighbor had a dog that was part German Shepherd and part wolf. Snowball was a big dog...not as big as you but, yeah.” She was trying to distract herself from any uncomfortable feelings that were going through her head by rambling on.
“I think it’d be weird if someone petted you while you were controlling water, I think that’s your other power...” The girl began to forget what she was doing as she scratched behind the large ears on the wolf.
