The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Exactly," she said, keeping her face as straight as she could, but sadly, that facade quickly cracked proving that absolutely nothing about Skye was 'straight.' But! The teasing was good because it distracted from this confusing and embarrassing stuff.
"Like I said. I make my share of trouble, so you should take credit for what little bit you do; I'm pulling this duo, obviously, when it comes to the mischief department~" Skye gave Emily a very determined glance followed by a smirk and a wink.
Skye had resolved to thinking the awkward moments were just the alcohol and emotional breakdown stuff earlier. But she was sure Emily had been sneaking glances at her while they were playing, but ignoring the fact that for Skye to have noticed she would have had to had been stealing glances herself. Ugh...it was so freaking weird. Besides, she was in no way ready for something else like that, right? Right. And furthermore, she was 'on break.' That was different than being single, right? Of course.
"So what the hell do you need a human coffee for?" she quipped, turning her attention back to the game.
He'd been able to find some bit of control over his powers through the years, but something about this hoodie just...brought him back. When his hand made contact, he found himself reliving some of the memories therein, from giving it to her, to some happy moments, and then through their breakup. To him never coming back. And her....being gone. He heard her words, and clung to them as his face grew hot, eyes starting to sting.
The twenty-seven year old sat on that rooftop, rocking back and forth as he held on to that hoodie for dear life, tears streaming down his face. "I'm sorry," he murmured. "Maybe if I was here I could have saved you..." He closed his eyes tightly, letting himself feel the thick fabric of the hoodie, wishing she could have been in it one more time, for one last embrace.
"Or at least I could have died with you..."
The night air grew cold, and he just sort of slipped it on, pulling the hood tight as he opened his eyes, looking out over the city, then his eyes drifting back to the box as he got an idea. The case had run cold a long time ago, but maybe, just maybe...
It had been a week or two since he got back; the days were running together and nothing really made sense. Ever since flickers of his memory came back, he'd been feeling empty. And the girl from his memories, Tses...there was no sign of her. Nothing he tried brought back any leads, and he was starting to settle into a habit of sleeping during the day, working night shift at the pawn shop, and then sitting alone on the roof of his apartment building until his body forced him to go to sleep, and repeat.
Until one afternoon when a knock stirred him from his slumber; it was his day off, but he still found little reason to be up during the day, so he kept up the routine. When he opened the door, there was an officer. "Ty Fisher?" "Yeah?"
The ensuing conversation was a blur, like it was straddling some static-filled line between fiction and reality. Tses was dead. Gone. Biting back the tears, he managed to go get the box of her belongings. Then, he went back to bed in order to process this.
When he awoke, he was on the rooftop again, this time with the box. He went through the articles of clothing; that's really all they were. And they all felt...familiar, but one looked even more familiar and seemed out of place among the armbands and the sweater. A lone green hoodie, resting at the bottom of the box. Reaching inside, he pulled it out, and just held it in his hands...

"Honey, I just *seem* delicate," she said, biting her lip with determination. Really, what with her X-training, plus dealing with everything she'd had to deal with lately, there wasn't much room for delicate. Not that she was going to go into all that detail with Emily, especially with the weird vibes she thought the other woman was putting off. Though she wasn't really sure if that was actually the case, or if she was just being paranoid.
"I'm delicate, I'm adorable, and yet I'm the perfect scapegoat," she said mockingly. "I'll have you know I can hold my own, I am damn cute, and I can get into trouble just fine on my own without taking the blame for yours~" she said in an almost sing-song voice.
"You only say that because you wish I'd wake up up every morning~" she teased, her cheeks turning red-hot at the comment, even though she meant it all in jest. Eh, if worst came to worst she'd just blame the booze. That always worked.

"I don't wanna put you out or anything," Skye said sincerely. "Seriously, if I pass out just push me into a corner and toss a blanket over me, mkay?" She gave a shrug, turning her attention to the game again.
"That's why you hang around me, then? You need an easy scapegoat?" she teased even more as they got more into the game.
The boss went down easy, and they got some pretty swell loot from the experience. As the awkwardness set in, Skye shook it off, focusing intently on the screen as her hair stayed that happy glow of orange. She swore she could still feel eyes on her, but she wasn't going to think into that. Nope. There were no feelings. Just friends and alcohol, and anything extra was probably just the alcohol talking. Speaking of, she downed the rest of her drink, and decided that for all intents and purposes...that was enough of that.

"Hurl? Probably not. Passing out on your floor? That's a definite maybe," she admitted as she took another gulp of her drink. It'd been quite some time since she'd actually drank, and now she was just drowning all the bad feelings that were left over.
She gave an almost-obnoxious laugh that was definitely because of the alcohol seeping in. "Okay, that I can buy," she said brightly. "I can be somewhat of a bad influence, not arguing with that." Topping this off was a devilish grin.
"Yeah. Now, I'm using pretty much all my Mana on the shields and de-buffs so I won't be able to do any damage. That's all up to you," she said, taking charge.
As they played, Skye, too was plagued with a slower reaction time, but they were still holding it together pretty well. Every now and then, she'd also steal a side-glance or two at Emily for some reason. Once, their gazes met, and her hair briefly turned purple before flicking back orange and she tried her damnedest to keep her view on the screen.

"I better be," was all she said in reply as she just sat there, but then she stood up and made herself another drink using the rest of her cola. One more couldn't hurt, right?
"Somehow I'm finding it hard to believe that," she said, taking a sip of her drink as she sat back down and re-situated herself on her pillow. "As much as I like to believe that, I'm pretty sure you're not always good," she said sincerely, shooting Emily a sincere look. "But for those times you aren't...that's what I'm here for."
With that, Skye resumed the game "Okay, I'm taking lead. Stay behind my shields, I'll debuff him and you just wail on the overgrown jello cube from a distance, got it?" She took yet another sip of her drink; that wasn't gonna be a bad idea, not in the slightest.
"Well, excuse me," she said, blowing another raspberry; to be honest Skye really enjoyed the back and forth banter. It was different than what she was used to and it really showed off her wit--or lack thereof. One or the other.
"I just bring the best out of you, is all," she said with a perky smile as her hair flashed orange again. "And that's why I normally don't get plastered," she replied with a small shrug. Really the reason she didn't get plastered was because she was normally at parties to look for something else, but she wasn't going to go admitting that out loud.
With another twinkle in her eye, she looked over at Emily and hit the unpause button. "You all good now?"

"I am happy, so maybe I am a....little crazy. The good kind that gets you in trouble, not the stalk your house and other crazy ex-girlfriend shit kind," she said, her sense of humor a little more dry than usual this time, but her tongue was just as sharp as it had been.
"You're about as prickly as a cotton ball," was Skye's reply as she sat up again, this time more slowly. "Okay maybe I am a bit insane, because I kind of enjoy the banter, she said with a laugh. "I know, I know. This is why I don't normally drink a whole lot," she said with a laugh. "And I'm much more careful at parties, I figured since it's just us up here, what the hell, right?" she admitted sheepishly. Another sign of trust, but then again...she'd already seen Skye on the verge and in the process of a breakdown, so she'd already seen Skye at her most vulnerable.
Standing up, she made her way back to the desk and grabbed the rest of her cola, deciding to sip on this instead. Making her way back to the pillow, she sat and picked up her controller again. "Ready whenever you are," she said with another smirk as she took a sip of soda.

"Hey I'm not always a basket case," she argued. "You just met me at a low point, that's all..." she murmured. "You didn't scare me away, definitely not. If anything I'm more...drawn to you," she admitted, still feeling the blush on her face. Totally from the alcohol. Yeah.
"You've got a mischievous side, sure, but that may just be the rainbow-haired devil in me bringing it out of you." She gave a hardy laugh. "Well, I hope I'm likable enough because I sure do like having you around," she admitted with another laugh.
Inside her mind, Skye's mind was wandering, just thinking on happy moments, anything to keep her mind off of the one thing that would kill her mood. "Hey, I haven't moped as much since you came along. Besides...moping ain't my style," she said sitting up for a moment then giving an audible "Whoa..." as the room began to spin around her and she plopped back down on the bed, again looking up at the ceiling. "Sat up to fast," she said with a nervous giggle.

"So what do you think when you see me, hmmm?" she shot back, a glimmer in her brown eyes as she took another rather liberal gulp of her drink, eventually finishing it rather handily. Whoa....maybe that wasn't the best idea, being a lightweight and all. Steadying herself, she found the edge of the bed and sat on it, lying on her back and looking up at the ceiling.
"Yeah, you're a regular purple-haired angel," she teased again, giggling slightly as she propped her arms behind her head for a moment. She blushed when Emily said just to keep being herself. She didn't know if it was her words or the alcohol that made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside, but maybe it was a bit of both.
"You do?" she said, a hint of sincerity in her voice as her hair flashed back to pink. "You're not so bad yourself, she quickly recovered, teasing slightly as her hair flashed back to orange.

"See, I can be a fount of wisdom too," she teased in an almost childish tone. And then what Emily meant by drinks clicked.
"Ohhhh, drink drinks..." she said with an almost evil grin as she got up and joined her friend at the desk. When Emily finished, Skye poured her own drink, opting to mix hers with cola from the get go.
She took a swallow of her own drink, then looked over at Emily, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. "What about you, are you gonna be alright?" she asked, her hair flicking pink as she looked at the other woman, sipping her drink. "You've been amazing to me, and I want to return the favor however I can, okay?"

"A drink would be nice, thanks," she answered, realizing how dry and cracked her own voice had become. Her eyes sort of watched Emily as she went to get to drinks, and Skye managed to press the pause button, thankfully it wasn't one of those games where you could spawn and just keep getting attacked and dying in a loop.
"Maybe I do. I almost exclusively play these types of games," she replied. "But you caught on pretty quickly, and you've actually been doing most of the killing," she said with a smile. "While my normal playstyle is blasting with spells and dealing AoE damage, which I've done in a pinch, I've mostly just been supporting you," she explained.
"And I have no problem doing that for you," she admitted, a little bit softer than she had been.

"You're awesome, yourself," she said, giving a weak smile, though she still felt guilty about how the entire day's mood had changed just because she let her emotions get the best of her for a moment. Again. Last time that happened she almost got booted out of her favorite store.
But she could tell that Emily cared about her, and it made her feel...well...it inspired good feelings, even if she wasn't entirely sure how to describe them.
She gave a smirk at Emily's next comment. "Well, I would hope so, considering I've been playing defensively and not really dealing any damage," she teased, her voice also coming out dry, but there was a twinkle in her eye as that smile stayed exactly where it was and she picked up her controller.

She found herself relaxing considerably over time, practically melting into Emily's arms; she didn't want to let go. Her voice was calming and soothing in its own right, and she slowly felt the sadness and the dark cloud that hovered over her melting away as well. After awhile, she released the hug, pulling back to look at Emily with a soft smile.
"I'm okay now. Really. I...thanks," she said, giving a light shrug as she rubbed a few stray tears out of her eyes. "You've really been a big help," she said with a soft smile, stretching a little as an awkward silence started to settle in, but the now indigo light slowly transitioned to that familiar orange glow that they'd grown so accustomed to.
