The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"What? I had to find something....decent enough for company," she teased with a small giggle. She was being honest, really; most of her sleep clothes consisted of flimsy nightgowns, underwear, or nothing, and just the thought of that made her want to blush, but somehow she managed not to.
"I can't be anybody but me," she murmured, leaning against Emily as she was tugged towards her girlfriend. "You make me happy, too. I'd say you have no idea, but...I'm pretty sure you have a better grasp on that than anyone." She nuzzled into Emily's shoulder before kissing her cheek then pulling away to lie down, looking up at the ceiling.
"You already know this, but...I'm pretty broken," she said sincerely. "And, Em...I just want to thank you for taking this chance on me. It means alot," she continued with a small smile, her eyes showing a mixture of sadness and hope. "It really does."

"Even still, you're making me sleepy," she murmured with another, less stifled yawn.
Emily turned the tables by cupping her face, and she felt her face turn warm with a blush as she looked into Emily's eyes. She smiled at the words "You're beautiful," but was met with a kiss before she could turn her head away. She almost felt like she was floating, being carried by all the little butterflies in her stomach.
"I'd need to go get something to sleep in, but I would love that," she said as the pink became overtaken by yellow, but then settled on orange. She was radiating with all sorts of warm fuzzy feelings, and happiness was at the forefront right now. So much had happened just this evening and it made her very thankful only negative emotions caused the flashbang effect.
Giving Emily another kiss, the girl turned and practically ran out of the room. Moments later, she came back in, wearing a way-too-big black tee shirt with some obscure MMA logo on it over a tank top and a pair of shorts. Still radiating orange, she sat on the edge of the bed, looking over at Emily as her mohawk was sort of strewn about her head.
"Nope. I just like teasing you. Besides, I promise I won't do it in public. Only when it's just us. That way you can keep up your Edge-queen persona and no one will be any the wiser," she said with a wink.
"There's nothing careful or plan-worthy about lighting m-effers up with damage spells. I'd go full offense, and have at least one spell of each damage type, that way it's as close to this," she held up her pink glowing hand, "as I can get."
Skye didn't mean to catch Emily mid-yawn, but that's just how it worked out. She held the other girl tightly, her hands running up and down the length of her back before one hand moved to run gently through Emily's hair, fingers occasionally brushing her face as she was growing more apt to do. Totally on purpose.
When she finally broke the kiss, Skye stifled a yawn of her own and giggled. "I'm starting to think maybe you had the right idea," she murmured, hitting the button on the controller to turn off the system. "So...should I go back to my room or...uhm..." she blushed a very deep red. "Would you prefer me to sleep here?" She broke eye contact, even though it was an innocent question. There would be nothing more than sleeping, but this kind of thing still made her super nervous.
"Yeah, but...I like the person I found under the edgy persona. Edge is cool, but the woman that lies beneath that is the one I fell for," she said softly, looking over at her with a smile.
"Hey. It's fun putting yourself in the game sometimes," she teased. "Besides, projecting would be me just making a full mage build. You know I don't cut people. Much..." Skye added a wink for good measure.
She could feel Emily falling asleep, and pushed herself a little closer, loving the contact and focusing less and less on the game, which led to her dying more and more. When Emily mentioned being boring, Skye paused the game and set the controller down for a moment, turning to look at her while still cuddled together.
"Hun. You're not boring. Not in the slightest. I really enjoy these moments...you being here with me. We don't have to do anything spectacular every time. This...this is the most I've enjoyed myself in awhile," she whispered, the room pulsing with a pink light as Skye leaned in and gave her a kiss, wrapping both arms around her.
"You're just a natural," she murmured, nuzzling her again. There was something about the closeness, about having someone show actual affection that she missed. It wasn't like those one night only deals; this was more lasting. Something you could count on to be there in the morning. Until it wasn't.
She shook the negative thoughts from her head. No. Emily wouldn't do that. No way. Right? Of course.
"Yeah but...I don't think it would have worked out like this through text," she said, her brow furrowing a bit. "Besides, sometimes you just gotta dive in and face whatever's making you feel like hiding. Normally works out better that way," she said with a smirk, her hair and lights flicking to that determined red-orange before settling on pink.
Skye nestled against Emily as she played, opting to start a new game. Going through character creation, she settled on an elf that she gave a bright pink mohawk. Her focus was a character that took the best of roguish and mage builds and put them together. Sneaky magic always made for a fun time. For awhile, she actually did pretty good.
But as time went on, she got more comfortable, focusing more on snuggling Emily, and she wound up in over her head on more than on occasion, leading to her dying and spewing a string of swear words before respawning and trying again. She leaned her head against Emily, still not doing as well as she would without having her girlfriend against her, but she was determined to make due. Inevitably she'd die, and she'd lean over and kiss Emily's cheek during the loading screens. Before long, she found her rhythm, and was really making progress.
"This is nice," she murmured as she nuzzled into Emily more. "Let me know when you're ready for something else, unless you'd be keen to watch me play like this all night, because honestly...I could."

"That makes me feel really special," Skye murmured, squeezing Emily just a little. "And you tend to keep a lot of the worst feelings at bay. I don't recall my flashbang ever going off around you, even when I was doing it a few times a week. I mean, you can generally tell when it's coming, but still."
Skye smiled bigger as Emily continued talking. "Well, I want all the snuggles too, and I really don't feel like moving," she murmured. It was nice, especially when Emily leaned into her more. She nuzzled into Emily a little, then just sat there a few moments before finally heaving a sigh and getting up and pulling out her game library.
She popped in a game she hadn't played in awhile: The Sundered Plane V, an RPG featuring both fantasy elements and firearms. Once it was set up, she plopped back on the bed, wrapping an arm around Emily and holding the controller.
"I've never tried playing and cuddling at the same time before; maybe I won't totally suck, eh?" she said with a laugh. Part of her wondered how far she'd even make it in game before they started kissing again, but either way it should be interesting, right?

"Well, you did. And our current relationship status notwithstanding, it really means a lot to me that you did," she said sincerely. Skye kissed her back tenderly, orange and pink lights alternating turns brightening up the area around them. "True, I'm a lot more fun happy. When I'm happy nothing explodes," she quipped with a slight giggle.
"It really wasn't that bad. The parts I actually caught, anyway," she teased, winking at Emily. "That's a good question. I mean, we can find another movie. Or I brought my game library, but that requires not cuddling. Or I could hook up my VCR and we can spend a few hours watching MMA fights from when i was like six and younger," she said with a smirk. She lay her head against Emily's, her arm wrapped around the other girl's waist and resting on her side.
"Flight isn't something I've picked up, no," Skye replied, taking another breath. The purple light radiated well paired with the clear gloves as she took in what Mirror and Valkyrie were saying. "Nope, don't have a way down that won't involve scraping my rainbow-ass off the ground later," she replied with a cynical smirk, the lights flicking to orange as she tried to ease the tension with her brand of dark humor.
But there were serious matters at hand, and she was going to do her damnedest, humor aside, and the lights flicked to a determined red-orange to reflect that.
"I'm as ready as I'll ever be," she said, stretching and climbing aboard the sheet of metal and holding her balance. She was ready, and not only was she going to do some good, but she was going to prove herself worthy of being a full member of the team, she hoped.
"Okay, cool. I'm no professional but I wanted to at least give you something to work with," she said with a small shrug, her politeness more than likely clashing with the punk-image she physically embodied right now. "Yeah, it shouldn't be too bad; like I said I'm tougher than I look, but I'll definitely let you know if I find out otherwise." She gave another smile.
Her glowing orange hand shook the tattoo artist's, though aside from the fact that it emitted light, it was just like shaking any other hand. "Thanks; I'm Skye," she answered, taking in the other woman's words with a nod before going over and taking a seat.
Skye pulled out her phone, flipping through text messages; she thought about texting Emily and telling her what she was doing, but she figured she'd just let it be a surprise. Not that many people would see this. Skye just knew she wanted this for a long time, and it was finally time to try something new.
"You taught me how to do that, Em," Skye whispered softly, looking down at Emily as her hand still ran through the other girl's hair, fingers occasionally lightly brushing her cheek. She leaned into her girlfriend's hand as she stroked her cheek, her hands bathing both of them in a soft pink light as her mohawk matched.
She didn't know exactly when those feelings emerged, all she remembered was when they were playing a game the last time they were here, she caught Emily looking at her and then found herself wanting to kiss the girl. She knew it probably surfaced before then, but she wasn't complaining. After all, here they were now, and Skye felt like they were both better for it.
Skye never thought she'd use the word 'girlfriend' in this context again, but she had to admit, it made her giddy and happy and calm and she felt like she could take on whatever problem came her way. "Well, the fact is we're both the girlfriend, so yes, I'm your girlfriend, but you're also mine," she teased, her voice very matter-of-fact.
"I'm always ****ing cute~" she said brightly, giving Emily a quick peck on the lips. "And though I don't say it as much as you do, you're quite adorable yourself, Em~" She smiled as Emily lay her head in Skye's lap, and she stroked the other girl's hair as she watched the movie, her fingers occasionally brushing Emily's cheek. Her eyes were focused on the movie, but she really wasn't paying attention. With all that had just happened, people getting dismembered by monsters wasn't nearly as exciting as having a girlfriend--not to mention getting over that pesky depressive phase.
"Oh, I am, but you agreed to be my girlfriend so I'm your problem now~" she teased in that sing-songy voice. "It's not fair, but I don't mind. I actually kind of like it. I was partially drawn to how well you can read me, even if it made me nervous when feelings started surfacing." She smiled shyly, and shy was not normally something Skye wore well.
"Okay, if you're sure," she said, giving her another tender kiss on the forehead. "If you need to talk or anything, or need something, I'm here, okay?" she said, turning her attention back towards the movie, or at least trying to. She was concerned for her fri--girlfriend, and wanted to know that much like Emily had promised time and time again, Skye wasn't going anywhere either. Especially not now.
"I think just let it flow; kinda like how an actual rainbow just settles into the sky," she explained, the lights on her hands and her hair becoming a content indigo that illuminated the immediate area.
"I have a decent pain tolerance," Skye answered, taking in what the other woman was saying. "So I'd like to think it shouldn't be so bad," she said with a smirk.
It was obvious that Skye had been thinking about this for a long time; the nervousness at first had been merely because she didn't know what she was doing and was wrapping her brain around the fact that she was actually going through with this.
Skye smiled as the indigo light turned into a very playful yellow. "Oh, Hot Stuff, if you want an 'appraisal' you're gonna have to wait a bit," she said with a wink, also taking enjoyment in the flirting.
"I had a feeling, but I learned a long time ago that assuming isn't safe," she replied, giggling as the other girl nibbled her lip. She'd never admit it, but Skye didn't know if it was her being out of practice or if she'd just met her match. "I will admit...no. No they haven't," she murmured with a smile.
"I could be coerced to go again," she said with a smirk as she took the other woman by the hand. "Sure, let's go grab drinks and we can talk about how pretty I am~"
She led the other girl out of the closet and back down the stairs, eyes scanning the area looking for somewhere less populated.
"Yeah, but the colors are broad representations. You kind of cheat by knowing exactly what i feel," she teased lightly. Sometimes Skye wondered...if she didn't have the powers she did, would she still wear her emotions on her sleeve? As it stood, she didn't have much of a choice since it was put on full display.
She leaned into Emily as they turned their attention to the movie, and she felt a warm peace come over her despite still having personal issues to trudge through. Everything would surely work itself out in time, so Skye was just content enjoying this moment.
Skye looked over at Emily at her "Maybe," and could sense something was...off. Like what Skye said maybe rubbed her the wrong way.
"Hey, I didn't mean anything by that," she said softly, nuzzling Emily's cheek. "I'm sorry if I made it weird or anything..." she kissed Emily's cheek again, letting her hand glide up the other woman's back to stroke her hair.
