The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Teddy listened to her play the song by the Beatles. It was one that he wasn't familiar with. He didn't seem happen to be a big Beatles fan but he couldn't deny that they did star a whole genre of music. Her voice was much better on this song than on the one that he first heard her sing. It was probably because she was more familiar with it than with the other one. He was still really impressed.
The young teen shook her hand, when she finished playing the song. "I'm Ted. But like everyone calls me Teddy. Nice to meet you Lizzy." He smiled. Not from her name or anything. He smiled because he thought it was amusing that they had had such a long conversation without even introducing themselves. This wasn't normal. Most strangers wouldn't go having a deep conversation about their past and what they do now if they didn't know their names. But Teddy wasn't a normal teenager.
"Even though you're not one of the Beatles I still think you played that song really well. Have you ever tried to play in clubs and stuff? I hear that's how a lot of the famous singers today got their big break." Teddy was just throwing out ideas. But he was serious. She was one of the best he'd heard singing in a long time. Many of todays talent needed their mics to tune their voices but she didn't seem to have that problem.
Dragon-Teddy heard all that his instructor was saying. There didn't seem to be anymore of this test that was going to happen today. So Teddy shifted back when she said it was ok. Once Teddy was fully human again he continued to listen to her. She didn't say much so Teddy was thinking that this was either her first class or the class was over for the day.
Teddy smiled at the girl. People don't usually get nervous around him. He always thought of himself as a very nonthreatening looking teen. Some of the others around here would definitely give Ted the willies but he didn't think he was one of them. Maybe it was just her way.
Her question seemed to indicate that she was relaxing a little around him. He didn't know if that was exactly true but this was usually a question that brought a lot of 'aww so cute' reactions from girls. Teddy took a deep breath and said, "I can turn into stuffed animals."
"Not the most threatening power in the world but hey... I bring the cuteness to any hide and seek game." Teddy said smiling. He was joking of course but he certainly wished that he could use his powers for more than just getting a 'that's so adorable' reaction out of girls, and winning hide and seek.
Ted patiently waited for her reaction and the question that usually followed his explanation of powers. "What can you do?" He always hated asking this because he was always afraid that someone was going to clam up and shy away because of their powers. It didn't always happen but it did every once in a while.
"From what I've been told it shouldn't be more than a few miles from here. But now a days you can't really rely on information from some people." Teddy said. He in fact doubted wether or not this town even existed, but it was a good place to start even though he had no intention joining them and living under someone else's laws. Ted found that his own morals and laws were good enough to keep him alive and to keep him from being trapped. He always felt it good to sleep in the woods, and thanks to his powers he could do that with relative security, knowing that no one would look for him.
Teddy was going to continue on his way and he didn't really care if this guy tagged along. It might be a little safer traveling with someone else by his side, but it could also be a little more dangerous. It'd be one more person for him to look out for. Wether the town lay within a few miles or a few hundred miles didn't matter to him. If there was a town that was going to be the main place where any news and any serious business would be happening. And if you wanted to play both sides, like Teddy, you needed to be in with as many people as you can. The trick was going to be finding them all.
"Does this mean that you're coming along?" Teddy asked the man in front of him, a little unenthusiastically. Now that he was closer he could certainly see more details in his face. He did look familiar but it had been years since he'd seen anyone that he knew and the years had certainly put some wear and tear on everyones features. Unless you were around them daily, it would be hard to recognize someone from the past. Teddy shrugged off the feeling and started walking. "If you're coming then keep up." There was really not much to talk about but he might recall something about this guy from the past the more time they spent with each other.
"I think I'll stick with Kara. Sounds easier to pronounce."
Anxiety meds. That explained why she was so jumpy. Teddy stopped at the bed closest to the door. She still seemed uneasy about him being in there and to tell the truth he wasn't all that comfortable with being in there himself. "I don't know where exactly you check in. Its been a while since I've had to do that." Teddy told her. When he came to the mansion there was someone that checked him in. "You're probably already checked in if you go your room." Teddy wasn't to sure how it all worked.
Teddy sat down on the bed across from her. Kara still looked uneasy but now he just supposed it was from the meds. Great the one time I meet someone she turns out to be crazy. Ted thought as he smiled at her. Maybe it was just his luck but he really felt like she was expecting him to turn into Freddy or the Hulk and mutilate her. "Are you expecting something? I'm not going to jump you or anything." Teddy asked. IT may have been a bit blunt but he wanted to know if she was expecting him to do a trick.
Teddy jumped a little. He didn't think that he would have frightened her that easily, especially since he was standing in the doorway. Ted thought that she would have seen him but apparently she didn't. After a little while she seemed to calm down, but be a little nervous about meeting him. "Sorry I didn't mean to." Teddy stammered. He certainly wasn't expecting that reaction. Maybe she was just a little high strung mutant. He couldn't blame her.
"Erm...hi...uhhhh.....I'm sorry....for...erm...freaking out like that. You just...erm...surprised me...is all."
He then realized that she was staring at him. Did she expect him to turn into a monster and attack her? Maybe she just wasn't expecting him to look so normal? He didn't know but he wasn't about to ask. Maybe once he knew her for a bit he would ask her.
"What did you say again?"
"Oh I was just asking if you needed any help unpacking." Teddy repeated. "I'm Ted by the way. What's your name?" Teddy took a cautious step into her room. The bed next to hers was empty and he guessed that she didn't have a roommate yet. It would only be a matter of time before she got one. It seemed like new students came in daily. Teddy still didn't know how the mansion managed to have room for everyone that came in to live there but they did. It also made him wonder just how many rooms were actually in the mansion.
Teddy was walking around the hallways in his basketball shorts and a t-shirt. That was the great thing about living at the mansion. He could pretty much wear whatever he wanted and no one would say anything because chances were that they had something else that looked far weirder. He came across what looked like a new person just starting to get checked into their room. The giveaway was the duffle bag on the floor that the girl was reaching in.
The teen paused in the doorway for a second and decided to introduce himself to her. She might need help unpacking or something. Teddy poked his head in the doorway and knocked on the door. "Hi. You must be new here. Do you need help unpacking?" He waited outside the door waiting for the girl to reply. There was really no reason that he shouldn't at the very least introduce himself. Maybe he'd be the first kid she's at the mansion.
This guy still didn't seem to trust Teddy. But he couldn't blame him, deceit was the new language and treachery was the new currency. It didn't seem to matter to most people who they were talking to or who they'd been with since the apocalypse. All that seemed to matter to most survivors was who could they trade and how much could they get for them and the information that they had.
Teddy had been away for a while and he hadn't heard anything about a bunker. He could pretty easily find something out, after all who suspected a teddy bear. There were plenty of things to worry about here but there weren't many that he couldn't handle. Especially now.
"I haven't heard anything about a bunker." But I can find out for a fee. Ted thought. His powers had been what kept him alive all these years and he'd learned a thing or two about it's uses since the world went to hell all those years ago.
Ted's interest in the city was purely for selfish reasons. He'd spent all those years alone, so he saw no need to join the city. Of course he could always use his talents for helping one side or the other. All he had to do was find the place.
The days of civility and courtesy had gone out the window after the apocalypse. It was dangerous to try and make friends these days because it always seemed like someone was just waiting to stab you in the back and take whatever they could get from you. Teddy's friendly nature had disappeared, mostly. He'd spent too long hiding, fighting, and spying on people to know that no one really like having him around. It even seemed like other mutants didn't like having him around sometimes. His rough appearance had changed him and he started to doubt that even if he found someone that he knew he wondered if they would recognize him. It had been three years after all and a lot had changed since then.
Teddy raised his hand in a waiving motion. "I'm looking for the town. It's supposed to be around here." Ted stated. He didn't offer to much more information then that. He'd learned the value of it the hard way. Just a year after he'd been on his own he ran across someone and after he'd talked with them for a while the man tried to kill him. Luckily for Ted he hadn't succeeded, but that night he learned the value of withholding info. In the sun he could see the man's unkempt appearance and his weapon hanging by his side. The man had the high ground and so he had the advantage. But Teddy wan't looking for a fight. He was just passing through. The man continued advancing closer to the ruble with no intent to climb. As he got closer the mans face became clearer. At this point he couldn't make out who ti was but he thought that he recognized him now more than he thought before. But looks can be deceiving and he wasn't taking any chances. Teddy had acquired a few weapons along the way, the most important of which was a bowie knife that he kept on his hip.
He'd had a chance to take a gun or two once before but he left them behind because the trouble with finding ammo for them was very hard to do; especially when he was living in the forest. He also didn't like the loud noise that they made. They would easily give away a position in a second and you would have far more trouble than you wanted to deal with too soon. He would suffice with the knife.
Teddy listened to her explain her background. "I wish I could play piano." Teddy admitted. "It's just one of those things that never seemed to click when I tried learning it." There was nothing wrong with the piano, in fact, there were many pieces of music that he liked that were played on the piano.
He did have to agree with her. If he didn't enjoy it these there was no sense in playing it. "Well you're very good at it." Teddy said. The breeze was nice and felt cool even in the summer sun. "Do you know any other songs?" Ted just wanted to listen to her play some more. She was good and maybe they could take turns playing.
I like it. I think Teddy will work nicely and be a very difficult mutant to find once he's released into the jungle. A small stuffed animal can hide pretty well in a big jungle.
Also I think Teddy might benefit from a little experimentation before someone tries to hunt him.
A good nights sleep. He hadn't had that in years. The last time was actually back at the mansion before the world ended. Before the nuke went off. Teddy spent most of his time at the mansion until he crazed masses had attacked. He remembered that day well. It was a time he'd never forget and a time that had started him on the path that he was on now.
The path of survival was a hard one and he had learned the hard way. Once the mansion fell he had taken to the woods and mastered his powers and hunting skills. Teddy had spent the first year alone without any human contact. When he finally met someone they told him all the information that he wanted. Apparently he wasn't the only survivor around there seemed to be pockets and people popping up creating a civilization out of the chaos. He decided he'd check it out.
Maybe he'd run into someone that he knew. It was a long shot but it was worth a try. It wasn't long before Teddy ran into someone. He looked familiar but not someone that he knew to much about. Besides many things change in 3 years. The date didn't matter any more he simply counted the winters. If he could survive those he could survive for a long time.
