The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The ringtone changed the whole serious mood that their interaction had turned into. He chuckled a little. He loved that song, and movie. As far as he was concerned it was when Disney was making the good stuff and not the weird space ones that they'd made recently.
Apparently she needed to leave she explained what was going on and Teddy understood. "Ya I may see you in subway someday. Or maybe I'll run into you at my school. I bet you could put on a killer concert there." Ted stood up also. If she was leaving he was going to continue his walk through Central Park before he headed back to the mansion. He liked living there but sometimes he just needed to get away from it all. He let her walk away before he turned and headed in the opposite direction. Let's face it there was nothing more awkward than saying goodbye to someone and then heading the same direction as them.
Ted was glad that she was going along with this. "I don't think it'll take to long." He started to walk down the hallway towards the front desk, where the receptionist was. There was, oddly, no one around as they walked. For a school you think it would have been a little more busy. However, he supposed that the lack of people around would be a good thing for Kara. She was still pretty nervous about being out and about in this place.
Maybe she'd get more used to it as she lived at the mansion longer. It didn't take them long before they were at the front desk. There was a nice looking lady sitting there. She had some paper on her desk that she was rifling through, a phone and a computer in the corner of her desk. She looked up when Teddy and Kara approached her.
"Hi there. Can I help you? The nice and friendly looking lady said to them.
"I'm already a student here; but my friend Kara, is new and needs to fill out some paperwork." He stated to the lady. She looked at Kara and pulled out some papers. The receptionist then offered her a seat in front of her desk as she pulled out some papers from inside the desk.
Their trip was uneventful. Just what someone who'd survived all this craziness could hope for. They'd past many buildings that we now just pathetic shadows of their former glory. It was actually a little sad to see how much this city, and probably others, had suffered from people and the general devastation of the armageddon.
Soon they found simple signs of a possible city. There were stripped buildings, gutted and even completely torn down, from people salvaging. It was a promising sign that they were getting close to the city that he'd been told about. For once some information that he'd been told was right. Teddy was actually relieved that they'd made it. He'd spent so long with misinformed ideas and directions that he thought this city was just a myth.
Once they reached the city, Ted gave a simple wave and to his fellow travelers and went his own way. There was no need to say goodbye he felt sure that they might see each other again. Of course one or the other might be a job later on, if he found the right people to talk to. This time it was all about survival and that's what he meant to do. Survive.
Teddy was basically out of information. This girl didn't seem to be posing a threat to them. His hand relaxed from around the hilt of his knife. Mostly they needed to keep moving. He didn't really like the idea of her tagging along but he wasn't going to turn her away.
If they were one thing he'd learned living around here it was that if you pissed someone off it would probably come back and haunt you. Friends were a thing of the past, now they were all acquaintances and subjects that he used for information. That was nothing new considering that everyone did it to everyone else. "If you want to come with us you can. But we're going to be moving fast." He didn't really offer her any more information about it. If she was going to join them then he would tell her, but if she wasn't than her certainly wasn't going to risk himself incase anyone was looking for him.
He'd made plenty of enemies since the end of the world and many of them would be glad to know where he was going. His traveling companion didn't seem to really like the idea of her tagging along either, but he apparently wasn't going to object to the extra person along for the trip. The older guy turned and continued heading in the direction that they were originally headed before she popped up from out of nowhere.
Ted knew the dangers of taking on a third person with the trip just as well as the other guy and probably just as well as she did. The main problem with traveling with three people instead of just two is that three is easier to spot and it takes a little more to conceal three than one or even two people. The stuffed animal shifter spun on his heels and started to follow the older guy. He was only going to offer her the option once and it would be up to her if she took the offer or not. Ted actually started to wonder if she was going to join them as he caught up with the other guy.
"I--I don't...know...m--maybe I should...just...um...get my stuff together...now..."
Teddy looked at her a little confused. "Don't be silly. There's no reason to do that. I'm sure whoever is working at the front desk to day is nice. Just like that guy was." Ted tried to reassure her. He didn't really know what to say but there was no reason for her to think that she should just get her stuff and leave.
Besides if she was this jumpy about meeting the nice people in mansion what was she going to do when she went outside the comfy mansion. Teddy was certainly a little bias towards the mansion but that was mainly because he didn't have anywhere else to go. His parents, as much as they loved him, wouldn't let him come home until he knew how to control his powers better. That and he was shy enough already, he didn't really need to be worrying about living on his own at 17. "Come on...I'll show you the way." He tried to giver he a comforting smile, but in all actuality it probably turned out to look like nothing more than a weird face.
She's lost. Perfect. Well aren't we all in this day and age? Good luck finding yourself then. Teddy thought. He was in no mood to give directions. No one had bothered to give him directions when he was lost. There was no reason they should give her directions. There was also no way of knowing how either Teddy or the other guy would know what she was looking for or where to start looking.
Against his better judgment he asked, "What are you looking for?" He didn't think he would know anything that she was looking; especially since he was pretty new to the area but it didn't hurt to ask. What's the worst that could happen?... Oh right, post apocalypse...Everyone wants to kill everyone else, or at least cheat and steal everything from them leaving them defenseless.
The stuffed animal shifter looked at his traveling buddy for some support. He didn't really want to stand around and have a conversation with someone but if they didn't... God knows what might happen to them. Wether it was by her hands or by someone she might be working with. Right now Teddy just thought it best to play it cool and try to avoid any unnecessary interactions.
Teddy looked over when the door opened. He'd drifted off for a second and wasn't really paying attention until the man answered the door. The man who answered the door sounded very friendly. He didn't know the man, but then again Teddy didn't really hang out with any of the staff here. He was still a little to young for any of that stuff.
Kara quickly came back to where he was standing. He waited for a second for her to compose herself again and when she gave a slight chuckle he smiled and chuckled back. "No. Not at all huh?" After a slight pause he said, "Well, the front desk is that way." Teddy pointed down the hallway, in the same direction that they were already going. At the very end of the hallway he could see the front doors of the building.
"Shall we?" was all Teddy said when it came to heading towards the front desk. If he remembered right from when he came here there was a lot of paperwork to fill out, unless they'd changed their process.
There was definitely some things to think about for Teddy. She thought he was good enough but he didn't. Maybe it was because the saying was true. You're your own worst critique. Teddy nodded as he listened to her talk.
"It could be fun." He admitted looking to get some reason to practice a little more. He didn't have anything that really held his attention at the mansion so he would have no problem working on making his music better. "A little money is always good." HIs only source of money right now was what his parents sent him. It wasn't much, but he had to usually ration it for either a few weeks or the whole month depending on what his parents told him.
He was luckier than most and still had a good relationship with his parents but that didn't mean he was living the high life. Money would be a good thing. Teddy couldn't really say why but he did get the feeling that if his parents found out he was playing in the subway, they wouldn't be to happy. The teen didn't tell Emily that because there was really no reason to tell her that. The may have shared a lot, but this was one thing that he did't think he needed to share.
Of course if he did play in the subway they might run into each other every once in a while.
Teddy headed off in the direction that he'd been told was where the city was. The other guy fell in next to him. So now both were headed towards the city, assuming they found it. They walked on in silence. Neither of them seemed very interested in talking. Maybe it was because neither of them had much to talk about. It's not like they were friends anyways. Or maybe it was because both of them lived alone for a while so it was more of a fact that they'd learned the value of quietness.
The rubble was everywhere. Most of the buildings weren't even standing anymore. He'd spent so much time away that he was now worried about other people. The paranoia was almost to much for him. He was concerned that people were going to pop out of every place imaginable; and since the place was covered in rubble there were plenty of places for people to surprise them.
Case and point. Suddenly there was a person hanging above the rubble for a second. At least he thought it was a person. It might have been some other kind of animal. Teddy saw the girl come around a pile of rubble. "Someone else is here." He said to the guy next to him. His hand moved to his knife; but he didn't unsheathe it, not yet anyway. They were still a good distance away and there was no telling what exactly she was going to do, if anything.
The crack was as noticeable as the sound it made. There was something different about this girl. She might have been a mutant for all he knew, but she wouldn't be the only mutant on this trip, but he had no reason for dispelling that information, not yet, maybe soon.
Teddy watched Kara walk towards the door that he pointed to. She was apparently nervous about going to talk to someone and didn't want to knok on the wrong door. He couldn't blame her, he certainly wouldn't want to knock on the wrong door. But there wasn't a lot of options on whose doors they should or shouldn't knock on. She turned and asked if he was sure it was that door.
"Ya I'm pretty sure." Teddy replied with a reassuring smile. Honestly he wasn't really sure if this was the right door. He could have been wrong but he'd have to wait until she knocked on the door to find out if he was right about the door or not. The teen wasn't sure if he should wait for her or not but he was going to at least stick around until she knocked on the door and started talking to someone. He didn't want to just desert her like that; especially considering how anxious she got about things.
Teddy smiled as she apparently was getting more and more comfortable with the idea. She certainly seemed to be warming up to the idea.
Ted patiently listened to her talk about herself. She seemed to have a few things to work out. But that must be what being an adult was all about. He was really glad that he had a few years before he had to worry about that kind of thing.
"Played. Past tense. I haven't been in a while here. I just haven't found one that I like yet. But when I did go I was the church guitarist. Mostly I just played and sang a little; but sometimes I would do solos. Not very often thought 'cause I didn't really think I was that good at them."
It was a little weird that he was sharing so much with a girl that he just met but she was nice and he was pretty sure that she would be someone that he wouldn't see again. It was a big city after all and the chances of a second meeting seemed slim unless they planned on it.
Teddy was glad that his joke went so well. He smiled when she stumbled but he didn't say anything. Sure it would have been a little embarrassing for her but he was just glad that she didn't completely fall on her face in front of him. When Kara walked past him he walked out of the room and said, "This way."
He turned and started to walk down the hall, in the direction that he was originally headed when he first stumbled across her. "This way will take us to the main lobby area." Teddy explained as they walked. It was more of a way for him to keep a conversation going rather than just walking in silence.
It didn't take long before they were close to the offices. "Theres a few offices right there." Ted said pointing to a few closed doors. He stopped in front of one of the offices. "Here ya go... I think." Ted waited. He didn't know what would happen of if she would even want to go in, but they were there and he was no tour guide so he couldn't really say what would happen after he got her there.
He really needed to stop telling people to call him Teddy. It was a little to much of a give away to his powers. That and... was he getting to old for that name? Ted just smiled and shook his head."Ya like a teddy bear." He reluctantly agreed. Teddy needed to re think about how he introduced himself.
Lizzy mentioned that she'd never thought about playing in a club. "Well, if I was old enough I'd definitely go see you play in a club." as it was he certainly had a difficult time passing for the age that he currently was, and you could forget about passing for older than he really was. She may not feel comfortable with the whole idea of the stage just yet but he had a feeling that she would warm up to the idea of it.
Suggestion was a very powerful tool even if it wasn't a mutation gift. He was enjoying getting the chance to know this girl. He had to admit it would be pretty cool if he could say that he knew Lizzy before she got famous. "Well, for the record I think you'll do a lot better than you think you will if you give yourself a chance to play in the club."
Teddy listened to her explain her powers. "That must save on your energy bill." Teddy said to her jokingly. He guessed that she'd probably heard it about a million times but it was to late to take back the joke. She seemed to get anxious again. He didn't' know if it was the weird silence that was going on but he figured it might be.
"We...we should probably go find the check-in."
Kara suggested that they go find the check in. He only supposed that she said 'we' because she was offering for him to tag along and help her find the check-in. Teddy stood up and made his way to the door again. He was going to lead the way since he'd been her a while he knew the mansion a lot better than some of the others.
"Sure I'll come with you. I don't have anything else to do. I think I know where to go. Shall we Kara?" Teddy said. He was now standing by the door and waiting for her to join him.
Allison do you know if this thread will run after cs's mansion thread. I'm having Teddy get kidnapped for both and I was mainly curious if one would lead into another. We could have the owner of the island maybe purchase mutants from a third party buyer anonymously and that could be how they get Teddy. Just a thought not sure how you were working this.
