She pairs off her top and bottom colors always in a contrasting manner (dark shirt, white pants, etc.), but beyond that, has no fashion planning. The most she'll add to that is a long jacket when it gets cold (as it often does). She'll wear the one dress she owns when she's trying to look especially fancy, or she'll wear flats as opposed to high-top converse when she ran out of high-top socks. But her clothing style in general doesn't vary very much.

Not shy in the sense that she avoids people, but shy in the sense that she prefers not to deal with people. She prefers being alone, and especially prefers not to be noticed. If you get her to a party, you'd better have a ball and chain around her ankles, because she's bound to try and flee at some point. In conversation, she tends to be very brief, concise, and to the point. If you try and force more information out of her, she'll get more and more annoyed, and eventually just devolves into answering every question with a simple "yes" or "no", or simply not answering at all. She detests being the center of attention, and gets very uncomfortable when she maintains skin contact with another person for more than a few seconds. It's not that she doesn't like people, not at all. She just has a few crippling social phobias that keep her away from people.
For the most part, she just floats about, keeping to herself. The only times she really expresses her emotions is when she's in a good mood, which usually equates to being alone. She'll dance and sing along to whatever music's playing, she'll cook or write quite masterfully, or she'll even just talk to herself, acting out conversations and even entire stories with her playing all the characters. But the instant she notices someone else in the room, she gets too self-conscious to really let loose like that.
Hobbies/ Interests: She has a particular hobby in writing stories, especially comic books. She's not the world's best artist, but she still tries her very best. She's also very into cooking and music, and isn't half-bad when playing the Drums.
Job or part time job and description: Currently unemployed.
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Out of all her little phobias, two stand out. The first is her fear of falling/heights. If in any situation there is the minute chance she could fall and injure herself, she panics. That includes tree-climbing, tall buildings, or airplanes. She's deathly afraid of all of them. The second big fear she has is the paranoia that someone is "checking her out". It's why she refuses to show any skin on her torso, and gets extremely nervous if she feels someone's getting too intimate with her. It's a big lender to all her social phobias. Beyond that, she has a few smaller phobias (meaning she panics a little, but it's bearable). Namely, clowns, poisonous animals, tight spaces, needles, and driving.
Special talents: As I've mentioned before, she's good with music and cooking, and is very good with writing. She's also a fantastic sprinter, though she can't run for too long.
MoralityGood/ bad/ neutral/ other: Neutral is a good way to put it. She's genuinely nice and wants to help others, but at the same time, gets extremely selfish, and doesn't really want to go out of her way to do so.
Mutations: Bio-luminescence
Mutation description: Kara's bloodstream is loaded with a specialized form of Phosphorous. Combined with an extra branch of her nervous system that connects to every cell of the capillaries in her skin, the nervous system is capable of igniting the Phosphorous, which produces an incredible amount of brilliant green light (though as the light passes through the skin, it turns a yellow-orange color). Wherever the capillaries are more concentrated is where the light will be most intense (hands, face, underside of the forearms, armpits, etc.). Furthermore, by selectively controlling the signal in her nerves, she can both augment the intensity of the light and focus it (mentioned later). Over time, she will also learn how to further control the light she emits, and thus control its color, perhaps into infared and ultraviolet (though that's a long ways down the road).
Strengths:-The light she emits can be as simple as a warm glow, which has almost no repercussions, and allows her free illumination.
-She can also augment that light to be as intense as a spotlight, and though this costs her dearly (mentioned later), it is a formidable weapon.
-Her power is very easy to use, and costs little to no effort to utilize. It even operates somewhat subconsciously. If she's relaxed, calm, or contented, then she emits a soft glow from her entire body. The point being that her ability is so easy to use that she does it without thinking about it.
Weaknesses and Limitations:-While extremely useful in day-to-day life, her power helps her for naught in combat, or anything similar.
-The simple fact that her power is easy to use is both a blessing and a curse, as she often finds herself blinding people without meaning to.
-Where there is light, there is heat, and Kara's power is no exception. Lower light-levels don't really suffer this problem, but when it gets to flashlight-intensity, her skin is liable to suffer severe burns after prolonged use. The pain alone can be enough to knock her down (ever put your hand on a stove?), and the prolonged effects can render the area sore and useless for weeks, even months. She can reduce the prolonged effects significantly if she somehow manages to keep the area cool, but that simply ties her down to the nearest source of coolant (ice, propane tanks, etc. Moving air isn't enough to cut the bill). Even then, she can only keep it up for a few hours at her absolute best.
Physical AbilitiesGeneral Physical Capabilities: In general, Kara has limited physical ability. A lack of regular exercise has done more than enough to let her body atrophy to below-average levels. That said, she can run extremely fast when given the proper motivation, but not for very long, and it can take her a while to recover afterwards.
Fighting Style: She usually avoids fighting in any way, and if confronted, is more likely to run than stay. If she's cornered, however, she tends to prefer throwing the nearest collection of heavy objects until she thinks she can make a break for it. If someone gets too close, she usually either just flails wildly, or tries to use her power to distract them.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: She doesn't really get hurt, and if she does, it's not likely to be too terrible. And the fact that she uses ranged weapons puts her at a good advantage against most people. But she could easily be caught in a corner with no weapons and no easy exit. Then she's completely screwed.
History Of Your CharacterKara was born into a fairly large family. She had her parents, her older brother, and two younger twin sisters, and that's not mentioning all the pets. At an early age, it became very clear that Kara would be the black sheep of the family. She didn't like to play with dolls, and began to cry if she was around too many people. It didn't help that her dad was starting to go into politics, and he had already made it onto the City Council. They tried everything to get her to make friends. Playdates, birthday parties, sports. They even gave her an online account to several networking websites. All of them just made her nervous and depressed. Finally, the Mitchell family ran out of ideas and took her to a therapist. Almost immediately, she had been diagnosed with severe social phobias. She was transferred to a therapist who specialized in that kind of thing, and was given weak anti-anxiety pills to try and help her adjust to normal life.
It was around that time that Kara first entered public school for 5th grade (she had been homeschooled before then). It took some time, but eventually, she managed to make a few loose friends. The year after that, they were close friends. Bit by bit, her social phobias were rolling to the backburner. She became somewhat popular, had game nights every now and again, tried out for sports (she never made any of the teams), and even had a small garage band going (much to her mother's annoyance). She had yet to even think about dating, but there was no pressure from anyone. Everyone understood that she was still taking baby steps.
That was somewhere around the middle of her freshman year. Her dad was trying to run for the House of Representatives, and Kara was trying not to think about that cute boy who was sitting behind her on the back of the bus. Her friend Ellen was sitting next to her, chatting up a storm as usual. No one wanted to mention it, but by the end of the bus ride, she was glowing faintly. By the time she noticed, it was First Period. And when she did notice...well, forget baby steps.
She dropped right back into her social phobias within a matter of minutes. She started skipping school, and her parents got involved when she went an entire week of simply hanging out outside of town. They pulled her out shortly thereafter, and tried homeschooling her again. But times had changed. With her dad running around the country for his campaign, and her two younger sisters filling up all of her mother's schedule, she fell far behind her classmates. Not to mention she'd frequently duck out of the house and run for the hills to try and experiment with her newfound power. Eventually, when her parents found out about these self-taught training sessions, they figured it would be better for everyone if she was with other mutants. So, kicking and screaming, Kara was sent to Xavier's Sister-School without so much as a parental escort to finish off High School.

Sample RP:Tick tick tickatickticktick ticka tick!Kara's fingernails kept up with the infuriating noise as she wrote out the story. There was still an annoying pause hanging in her
headphones between songs, so the sound echoed around in her head as she typed.
Tickatickaticktick tick tickatick! She glanced nervously around to make sure no one else was ready to flay her alive over that noise, then winced as the next song came on waaaay too loud. She tapped the volume button on her laptop a couple of times, until she could actually understand Miss Lavigne through the violently thrashing guitar, then resumed her typing.
Or tried to.
But as it turned out, blasting Sk8er Boi into your ears at max volume has the annoying side effect of erasing everything you were just thinking.
With a half-hearted groan of annoyance, Kara deflated into her chair and stared idly out of the window of the Amtrak. She hated having to take the train. All the cramped, uncomfortable seats and the more uncomfortable proximity to complete strangers. Thankfully, she'd managed to find a little cluster of seats that wasn't occupied by middle-aged creepers. Or anyone, for that matter, save the sleeping granny across the aisle. She stole a quick glance at said granny.
Yup. Still sleeping.
Her gaze drifted back to the passing forests, watching the blurry trees, grasses, and suburbs whizz by at some-odd miles per hour. Finally, with one triumphant groan, she lifted her head off the headrest and returned to the screen of her
laptop. Slowly, and with herculean effort, she skimmed what she'd written in the past few minutes.
"This...is...crap." she muttered. With the small amount of rage and fury she had, she quickly highlighted it all, deleted it, and started writing again.
