The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

September, was a god send. It was just too damn warm during the summer for the Brit but now that Autumn was rolling around and the temperature was dropping she could actually handle a day outside every now and then. Like maybe once a week, two if it was a good one so she found herself on a wander. With her standard punkish clothes and a shirt she'd managed to get a hold of finally. So many of her favourite franchises ran out of female tee's so quickly it was kind of stupid. Like shouldn't they print more then if the demand was that high?
She'd been saving a little money too from her allowance and she'd been itching to check out some of the game stores for some rare games, maybe even something to add to her console collection. After a decent chunk of time spent inside stores ranging from the big soulless franchises to the dingy little back alley shops she had burned through most of the money she was willing to spend.
Between lusting after computer parts and considering a new nerdy t-shirt her stomach started growling very loudly. Her hunger bar was low again wasn't it? Ugh. how could it drop so quickly all the time, couldn't she get a break like once?
Deep in thought about what fast food she was going to get, she got a minor shock when her HUD disappeared. Just poof and it was gone. Worse she was suddenly assailed by someone talking to her fairly quickly and completely out of the blue. "Erm, I.....what?" Alice had heard words and them all seemed to be in some kind of order but her brain was a little distracted by all that, world, she could see. That was what the bottom right of her sight looked like!? Wait. Oh no, no, no. She was hungry. She knew she was hungry. But how hungry. How long did she have until her bar went down below and she felt ill. Where was her bar!!!
"I, uh, sorry I'm just having issues with my power or something what did you say? Oh and I'm Alice by the way" Yes, focus on something, like the cute girl asking....something from her. The cute girl who was a little shorter than her and was dressed like a waitress. That was a bit weird choice of clothes for shopping but then again maybe she'd just gotten off work. Which made sense. Because people worked for money.
They didn't get allowances from parents like she did. Or the amount she did.

Different faces different powers? Then they weren't the same person were they. "If literally everything is different about them then this Alice isn't me is she? Like at all. She's just coincidentally like me in some minor ways, so what." Skye was her own person, that was a damn fact. No way some bad copy would take that away from her. Not after everything she'd fought tooth and nail for.
So the next statement from their lurker floored her a little. This person, they had the same last name. And hair colour. OK that was weird but it wasn't an entirely unknown last name. Unless she was also from certain parts of the UK then she was safe. She was still the prime River model. The one and only.
"What? No of course not, that's f------ stupid. Who the hell has video games as a damn power." Not that she was giving away the secret, if they needed more info smacking him with some Joy for a while might help. No for now she was getting info. "Where's she from, this Alice. Because there's no way she's from the same place as me."
No she was the only child out of that s---hole they called the Rivers estate, not that her mum got anything from the worthless bint that owned it. No she got thrown out by her own damn mother over stupid old time rules or some BS.
"OK Paige, I'm not the only one thinking this is weird right? Because this is weird. Talking to a mirror, like some weird wonderland book or something." God she hated that damn book, too many memories of home. Too much to think about. Reflexively pushing the memories away, she locked that bit of herself back up tight. Skye wasn't that scared little girl anymore.
"I could also do with a damn drink, even after a night near you. You reckon on of the drink staff is free enough to bring a bottle of bottom shelf rotgut back here?" Getting drunk seemed like a very good way to deal with the day.

"Oh. Right." Hard to really respond to something like that. What should she say? Condolences, or maybe sympathy? Ugh this wasn't her area really. Dealing with bullies she could do, maybe even an a---y teacher but a heavy topic like that, not her area of expertise. "Well, shit there's not really any way I can come back with a sarcastic remark to that one so well done."
Yes, humour seemed a decent shout. "Look, I get that your not doing well and stuff. For good reasons but getting the stuffing kicked out of you isn't going to help anyone. Like seriously." She didn't know the details but she had a feeling Iggy's parent's wouldn't be happy he was acting self destructive.
"I think you might need to talk to someone, well qualified for this. Doesn't the school have a counselor or something?" Someone way more clued up about this kind of issue. "Just don't provoke or gang or anything stupid OK?"
Last thing she needed was the drama of a friend getting stabbed. Serena would freak.

"It's a small target, how the hell do you think we'll be able to hit them with the scatter?" It was a fair point, but it wasn't a random scatter. There was a pattern, in all the chaos it was hard to see but it was there. Were they blind or something, to not see it like she did?
Well whatever, she could do it, maybe. All she needed was a chance, so luck and someone ready to transport their crew mates back up from the drill if something went right. Or very very wrong. "I can sir, there's a cycle to the shots and I'm getting a hang of it. If we can hold on a little longer I can start calling targets. Just be ready to get our jumpers transported back if we hit the ship. The enemy might ditch the drill if they take a hit."
The ship was hers, the enemy was hers, time to really have fun. Bucking and weaving between salvo's, all the time her feel for the missiles getting sharper and sharper, she was soon judging when they were coming and from what part of the ship. She was close, so damn close to knowing when to fire.
Of course that meant she'd misjudged something. Badly.
A hit rocked the ship, downing their shields and taking out a chunk of one of the living quarters. Casualty numbers streamed in, how many dead, how many wounded but she barely heard it. She'd gotten those people killed. Her. They might not be real, it might be just a film but that didn't change anything. She'd messed up and because of that people had died.

"I get that, and I'm not trying to have a go but it's the way you described it that showed all the stereotypes geeky kids have to deal with. Saying they're in their mums basements pretending to be someone else is literally the same thing they've had shouted at them for years and frankly we're sick of that stupid f------ thread of thinking. You know who plays D&D? Vin Diesel, that big movie star/body builder. He's a massive nerd and started when he was a kid to deal with where he lived and some of the troubles he had." A good chunk of players were well into their 40's and 50's with normal lives and friends and families. They'd grown up role-playing and it only enriched their lives. Not only that they could share it with their kids, passing on a handy way to deal with life's bs.
But the bullying sucked, guess the popular kids were kind of a-------'s to everyone, even their friends but seriously? She was getting bullied here. Of all places. That was every level of messed up. You'd think kids who had it bad out in the world would be a bit less likely to pile onto the poor sods stuck here for whatever reason but no. Kids were d---'s.
"The bullying sucks though, seriously whoever's doing it is a p----. You keep getting issues give me a shout, I'll be happy to tell the little s---'s where they can shove it." Being English and having a decent idea of how to swear came in handy with people like that. Not many of them could handle a mouthy woman with a better command of the language than them. "See if you can report the kids to one of the upper staff, maybe they could help. As for teachers? I dunno, maybe talk to the principal, see if she can do anything for you."
"It was kind of a mutual decision, she really didn't want to do it but I kind of pushed her too. She'd given up a lot to make me happy growing up and got more than a little stick from the old bat during it. Seemed right that I kind of did the same, you know?" Alice missed her, so damn much but her mum was happy. Like really happy and by all accounts she was damn good at her job as well. She'd just done an interview for a business magazine about the company. It was boring but then, Alice wasn't quite the target audience for that paper. "As for my power it kind of just gave me 'quest' and a direction to go so I followed it. I knew she was in New Work so I just jumped on a plane and," shrugging she tailed off without finishing. It wasn't weird to her. Just a strange part of her odd powers.
Wow, what a tool. He seriously just abandoned Allegra, no contact no nothing? Worse he was a person who apparently got all religious while pointedly ignoring the s--- they'd left behind. "Yeah, opinion of him hasn't gotten any better really, frankly you seem better off without him or your mum. As harsh as that sounds. Just, you know come and chat if you need it. I'm good at listening." Not really but the girl seemed like she needed someone none judgmental in her life.
"No one said all nerds were bad with the whole self confidence thing, I just kind of know who I am. The rest is pretty easy to fake. Honestly it's easier here, the accent does like a third of the work for me." Everyone was very helpful to the skinny English girl. When she wasn't swearing. Which wasn't that often.
Grinning she loved how Allegra saw it. Shelters were awesome and it was totally the place she was getting her cat from when she had her own place. It would be adorable of course, all cats were. Except hairless ones, they were.....not cats. "It's fine, they're pretty beat up anyway so a little affectionate mauling won't hurt them." Another good reason for having well worn shoes. You were less bother when they got knackered.
"OK, just press those buttons to bring up the talk menu and it'll give you a bunch of responses and options to say. Basically try and say what you think he might like, or talk about you he might be interested in. It's not too hard to keep them interested enough to keep chatting." The nerdy guy was kind of one of the easiest routes. Just stick to being interesting in him and his hobbies and you were golden.

That, was a very good point. She had at least tried to put her own feelings on hold to help Astrid, unsuccessfully sure but still, A for effort. About a C for overall work but her intentions had been mostly pure. For a bit at least. With Astrid putting dating on the table it was hard to not act like a giggly idiot around her. Sure, she wasn't the most suave person but Alice liked to think she wasn't a totally flailing noob with romance.
But damn if that girl didn't make her one. It was totally unfair though, those wings were just cheating and god that accent. Any hot blooded woman wouldn't blame her for wanting to see her again. "Thanks, that makes me feel a little better. Still a little like a creeper but hey, an improvement's an improvement."
Not an expert? Why not, she was an adult after all and who the hell wouldn't want a kick ass girl friend like Jack? She was pure distilled awesome in a bright blue package. Plus she was tall, like really tall. Tall girls were, well they were hot.
"Really? I'd have bet the boys....or girls would be all over you. For reasons. That I have no clue about." It wasn't exactly a crush but, well Jack was kind of her types. Tall, blue, sassy as hell and a mutant to boot. As far as adults went she was up there in her top list. For more reasons than just being beautiful too. She was one of the few adults who treated her like an equal, punishments aside for rule breaking, and that was hard to not like.
Back on topic girl, she could add more women in her life to the squee club later, she had other problems right now. "I mean, that's kind of not all of what happened. Nothing over tha top but she might have shown off her mutation inside the," wait, Jack might be awesome but she did still kind of a have a job at the mansion, she might want to omit the bar bit, "place we were talking. Some people aren't fans of mutants apparently."

Rolling her eyes, she didn't really believe the apology. Seemed a bit too convenient the guy had 'stumbled' into a strip club and found his way to the changing rooms purely by chance. Yeah, she might use her mutation to her benefit but his had stalker vibes all over it.
Alice? No one in the club had that name as far as she knew and her hair dye was hardly the most expensive one around. Not hard to believe that someone else had the same colour. "Sorry love this is Paige and I'm Skye so unless she's changed her name I don't think we're her. But what do you mean copy?" That wasn't a normal thing to say, even with how odd stuff was now with a rip open between worlds.
Wait, did the other place have copies of everyone?
This was getting all to strange for her now. Taking a seat now that she was dressed her anger was just giving away to tiredness. The world was falling apart, portals were open to parallel worlds and Paige still wouldn't stay over on a night and a snuggle post fun.
It was all decidedly frustrating.
"Look, I get you might be genuine but you've got to admit this looks dodgy. My last names Rivers if that helps at all." Once this mirror person sodded off now that he knew she wasn't his friend maybe she and Paige would be left alone again.

Wait, Gawain was going to jump out of the ship? That was insane! He did know how close a call that was, especially if he got the red suit. That was like guaranteed plot death. Too bad she couldn't say anything, the Romulan ship might be ignoring the fleet for the most part but they still had weapons trained and firing when they got too close.
With her hands full she couldn't wave off her trainer but she was sure a tried and tested X-Man could take care of themselves. Christ he must have trained to fight people with strength mutations anyway, so it wasn't the worst disadvantage that the aliens were tougher. Alice, on the other hand, had a ship to fly.
Maneuvering such a large ship was tough, given the wrecked ships in the way and other members of the fleet this was by far the most stressful exercise yet, but she could do it. Zipping between one round of missiles and the next she was getting a feel for the pattern of them. How many fired and how quickly. It was just like learning a bosses move set! Time for a good old fashioned gamers staple, exploit that pattern.
"Captain, if our weapons can't hurt it I reckon theirs can. If we hit the missiles just as they exit it's shield maybe we can do some damage." Screw proper porcedure right now, screw the probation, she had a plan.

Was Astrid disappointed about their being no deaths? Alice wouldn't sweat an outright violent bigot getting their just desserts but she wasn't a fan of just wholesale murder. Proving them wrong was just so much better. Then they had to live with that fact, know they were on the wrong side. To her that was the best kind of revenge. Plus, well, a good chunk of the people agaisnt open gay relationships were closeted themselves and using it as a way to fit in with everyone else.
Oh and just your bog standard crazy religious people. The ones who took the bible as literal from start to finish, they usually cropped up in those debates.
"Me? God no this was like forty or fifty years ago now. I mean, I've been to a couple of protest back home when we were passing the whole gay marriage thing and I went to pride one year but all that stuff was sorted out long before I was born." Maybe even before her mum was born now that she thought about it. Weird to think that the 60's were nearly......sixty years ago.
That was just wrong.
Were they? The mutant rights movement had been gaining steam recently but it wasn't that long ago the country had pulled the registration act c--- and the internment camps. Not to mention the Meta Bots still went mental every now and then. "Yeah, in a way. It's not as far along as other movements but mutants are already becoming normal, if that makes sense." Normal in the sense they could walk around a decent amount of the city relatively safely.
"Honestly there's even bigger issues with our rights. There weren't exactly gay people randomly blowing up a city block by accident or setting buildings on fire. There's just more fear and stuff around mutants." Sighing, it was sad. She could kind of understand some peoples points of view, it was really scary what some people could do, there were like walking bombs.
Hard to condemn the public wanting some kind of safety guarantee about them.

"So you sneak into the changing rooms of a strip club, while two of the girls are changing and you're not some kind of creep? You gotten a good enough view now or you gonna keep staring?" Frankly, she was too p----- to put something on to cover her. This was her changing room, why the hell should she feel ashamed for being half naked in it? Looking into the mirror she was giving the guy one hell of an evil look. Whoever he was, he was a mutant. Not just anyone could appear in a mirror, or get through the Atlantis club unseen.
Wait, what did he mean a girl sometimes? That didn't make any sense or that he recognised one of them. It wasn't bragging to say the pair of them were pretty memorable, there wouldn't be any doubt if he had met them before.
"I'm fairly sure I've never seen you before, so unless you know Paige here I think you might have the wrong place." Not only did Skye have to deal with old fashioned creepiness at work and in the streets, now she had to watch the mirrors for this, person in case he was some weird stalker. Not just a weird stalker, a stalker who could wander into anyplace she had a mirror and invade her life.
This city was seriously going off the rails. General badness aside they now had tears in reality and a whole other world of people to cause them issues.
Pulling on a t-shirt and shorts she kept in the rooms for when she was cold, she stepped up to the mirror, getting a good view of the guy. She needed to remember him, in case he ever came back in. That and the boss would want to know about anyone sneaking around, considered them potential 'security risks' and liked to have them dealt with.
"Look, if you don't explain yourself and quick, we're gonna have security in here. You don't want to be on the big mans s--- list."

Keeping eyes on the screen, she gave Gawain a side long smile, "God no, trust me there is no way I am jumping out of a space ship into low orbit. At all." Plus, someone had to pilot and with Sulu gone, well she had the reins. Good chance to put her skills to the test agaisnt a real opponent. This was the boss mission and if she could crack the fight here and now, the movie would be short indeed.
A lot of discussion and planning went on behind her as she kept up with the readings and the plan was made. Captain Pike turned to Kirk, "Take whoever has combat experience and do it, we'll keep the ship distracted in the mean time." Thank god they'd saved some ships, having Pike not on the Romulan ship made this all so much easier.
With Sulu offering his help and the controls firmly in her hand, she quickly had a plan forming. Taking out the ship over the planet was a very bad idea, but if they could cause the drill to fail and drive it off with the remains of the fleet, well they'd have a chance.
Orders given and plots coursed she was finally given the go ahead she was eager to hear. "Rivers, defensive combat maneuvers. I've been told you're good at being unpredictable, keep it that way and confuse the hell out of them. Weapons, concentrate fire on engines and weapons ports. Communication, relay the plans to the rest of the fleet."
Cracking her knuckles, a wild grin was on her face. This was the real deal, time to really see what the enterprise could do.

Grinning, she could imagine how much fun they'd have on a morning. They would get nothing actually done would they? Excuses to stay in would keep cropping up and by the time they noticed the sun would be down and well, they couldn't go out then. Far to late for shopping. As enjoyable as that sounded in her head, she did actually need to get those tights and a few knickknacks.
The kiss and cuddle combo helped though, hugging her 'conquests' was such a lovely way to end it. Too many people left far to reluctantly or got way to clingy after getting a full dose of Lust. Skye preferred leaving things amicably and while it was true snuggling up to a warm body for the night was preferable, she certainly wasn't going to pout at Paige much for wanting to keep certain lines firmly drawn. Much at least. A little pouting was of course needed.
Breathing a little sigh of relief, she was glad her friend wasn't risking it. She had first hand experience with some bad stuff on the street and it made her a little over protective of her companions. Most just saw it as endearing.
"Good, I would hate to be stood up after such an incredible night. I'd feel all used," the light, jokey tone was offset by the adorable little pouting she was doing. Which Paige immediately took full advantage of and gave her a little hickey.
"You're a snake woman! I'll get you for that tomorrow." Just when she'd been calmed down her motor was starting up again, the Lust in her system working it's magic again. Damn evil, wonderful woman. Throwing a couple of rounds of swearing after her, she finished with a more friendly, "Night Paige, see you tomorrow," before she stalked back to her bed and curled up under the covers.
If she could drift off in the next couple of hours it would be a miracle.

Yeah, he was cool. Which was to say, she liked maths and he was a decent teacher so she got along with him fairly well. Being good at the subject also helped when it came to a decent relationship with teachers. Even when she skipped classes most liked her well enough thanks to that.
"He's pretty good at what he does, thanks to him I've managed to keep my grade pretty damn high. He's even been giving me so higher level stuff since classes are a bit easier over here." The mansion was good for teaching but, well the education system on a whole just wasn't amazing in the U.S. So far lessons were noticeably easier than back home.
Didn't sound fine. Sounded pretty bummed actually. "You sure Iggy? I know I'm not exactly an open book emotionally but I'm here if you need to talk." She hadn't ever been a go to with her few friends for serious emotional stuff and frankly she was bad enough at dealing with her own but he looked like he could do with a talk.

"Always love a day away from touching, feel wonderful without all those nasty side effects." Hardly surprising Paige wanted to party after a good shift. It was her go too on a good day and she could usually convince a reluctant Skye to join her. Well, a mostly reluctant Skye, today she was more than up for for dancing and drinking off the clock. Somehow it being work just wasn't the same.
"And yes, I would love to join you on a night out just let me have a nice rest. I'll need some energy while I'm out with you." She was a tough one to keep up with and a devil to go out with. Everything tended to blur a bit after a couple of hours.
Leaving her co-workers hands where they were, she looked her in the eyes from the mirror. "Remind me to thank you for the make-up tip. This stuff is great." Sure it cost a bit more than her usual stuff but the results spoke for themselves. In their job hard wearing stuff was a god send.
Casually slipping her bra off and dropping it in her bag, the nudity didn't really bother her. It was their dressing room and frankly if someone wandered in a saw something they weren't meant to, that wasn't her problem. Plus it gave the 'girls' a chance to breathe after being locked away while on stage and if her friend got as nice eye full, she wouldn't be upset. Frankly she deserved the reward for the advice.
Slight movement in the mirror caught her eye. It looked like a guy? Wait that couldn't be right, none of the guy dancers were in tonight and they usually said if they were coming in for any reason. Turning in her chair to look past the other woman, there wasn't anyone there. Huh, that was weird. Looking back at the mirror and he was gone.
"I must be going mental, thought I saw someone for a sec there in the mirror but he wasn't anywhere." Mental shrugging it off, it was probably nothing.

Sulu had the controls annoyingly. She'd proven herself in that damn test and now she was sitting on the sidelines just watching thanks to some. Well, she had weapon control but with Vulcan so close by she just couldn't cause a black hole. That'd be a bad idea. If she could save the planet, that'd be a damn success in her eyes. What she needed was a few good shots at the drill.
They only took some light hits to the shields this time, easily having the space to dodge the projectiles and not hemmed in inside the debris field. Which was actually a little smaller than she remembered from the movie.
The warning had worked!
"Sir, our ships are taking heavy losses and our weapons don't even appear to be doing any damage." Oh, right yeah. They were still out gunned agaisnt a future ship, filled with much more powerful missiles and already tearing through most of starfleets' ships. So the warning wasn't helping much and they were still drilling into Vulcan. Christ they were just ignoring most the ships buzzing around.
"Captain, getting troubling readings from Vulcan. Large scale geological disruptions from a central point. Directly under the ship." Yep, that was still an issue. There had to be away she could convince them to target that right?
