The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Before she could respond, or even think to try Chekov was running off mumbling something about being able to do it or something. "Well apparently he's on his way so you should be out of there soon. Just be careful when you get back up here, some of the decks have been vented." The slightly hysterical tone might have come across but the young nerd was determined to see this through. "And make sure to get Kirk back up here. We're gonna need him to finish this."
That she was pretty sure of. She was doing alright, good even given the situation but she wasn't the protagonist of this story and they needed both the brash James T. Kirk and the logical Mr Spock to find the weak point in the enemy. If the ship held out that long.
Which it didn't look like it was going too. The miss had been getting far too close each salvo and now it was all she could do to stop them grazing important systems. Every few rounds another deck was smashed open and more people lost to space. Each hit lost them power, speed, everything they needed to pull off the plan and the rest of the fleet faired worse. Maybe a dozen ships were even able to move, less than half of that in any shape to help them fight the behemoth they were getting hammered by. Worse any attempt to transmit the plan would tip the Romulans off and then they were screwed.
So it was up to their ship to do it. Somehow.
Slipping between one last bunch of missiles she had a chance. One tiny window to get into position for the shot. Sure the ship would get hit full force if she failed the timing by even half a second and yeah she might get Gawain killed along with her, depending on if he was on board or not, but she had to try.
If it worked, hell they might actually be able to give it a scratch. Hopefully. "Prepare phaser spread, at my mark."

Nodding a little drunkenly, "Mhmm. Booksie here gives the best all natural buzz with almost no side effects. Pretty handy around here for keeping folks generous." The boss did know how to pick them. While all the dancers were mutants, most had what could be called, useful, talents to add a little extra to a night's spending.
Looking her up and down not so subtly, her mental cogs were already whirring. The too big clothes certainly added a little something to the overall look but the right touches would really make her a top earner. She was tall, a very good good trait in the industry, and damn was she well built. What ever job she had did it certainly did wonders for the body. "Shame, you definitely have the looks for the job and you move a natural born dancer. Whatever this career is I think we need to exchange work out plans."
Shaking her head to try and clear the haze that was getting worse by the minute, she put together some more useful thoughts. She'd mentioned doubles, or was it tears? Or other sides? With the booze and Paige it was hard to try and differentiate between thought and words. But it was important wasn't it? Something about what the woman was saying meant a lot, but damn it if she could remember why at that point.
"W....what did you mean double? That have anything to do with all the weirdness happening lately?"
Not that life was normal for Skye by any stretch but the dial of strange had been turned up a little in recent months.

"Nah, shouldn't be a problem. If anything it'll be novel to actually have my peripheral vision again, although it is pretty distracting seeing so......much." Years without it had kind of gotten her used not having it, now it was weird to see again. It was still wrong to her though, how did normal people function with so many things flickering in and out of sight at the edge of view? Every little movement put her on edge now that she could actual, well, make it out.
Wait, a nice walk with a nice girl and free food!? Sign her up for that, not the worst way to spend an afternoon and it's not like she had anything worthwhile to do in the meantime. "Can't argue against the odd charitable burger. Or hot dog. Or cake." And now she was starving again. Damn stupid power and it's annoying need to be fed all the time. Well that or it was just part of being a teenager, but somehow she doubted other people her age ate as much as two grown men with room for more. "I might snack on the way but don't worry, it'll not do much to my appetite."
"Keen observational skills you've got there," she replied lightly, a grin on her face, "can't figure out what gave me away. But yes, I'm not from around here. Like at all. English born and bred, only came across a few months ago to meet someone." That she hadn't known existed until about the same amount of time sh'd been in the U.S. but that was another, entirely more dramatic, topic. "Oooo Cali, that's awesome. Explains your own accent, but without telling me I'd not have been able to place it except a broad 'not from here' category."
Giving a warm smile, "Don't worry about it. Frankly I find it adorable and it's flattering you want to know more," she reassured her companion, guiding them down street from one of the many identical junctions. "What about yourself though, why have you come to the city?" Alice could have made a couple of guesses, given the shop they were going to but it could also be something entirely different. Seemed best to not assume and just ask.
Plus it meant they got to have a pleasant conversation as they walked and what kind of girl would she be to say no to that?

Shrugging, "Not really, just food. I'm sure I can grab something on the way." Shaking the bag she had a firm grasp on for emphasis, "I'm already done my shopping for the day at least and frankly I could do with a distraction." With someone cute. Which wasn't a crime now was it? Enjoying a nice day with some nice girl who was lost in the big city.
That wasn't her home city. At all. But hey, thank god for technology! Her phone would totally lead them the right way.
Blinking a couple of times at the admission Alice couldn't help but be a little confused. What the hell was an adapted? And why did that mean she couldn't use her power? Wait....didn't that also mean she wouldn't be hungry if she stayed with Marisol. Or only be able to see like three quarters of what she really should be able to. That. Would. Be. Awesome. She was so up for experimenting with that a little. "I've not got any particular problems with it, if that's what you're worried about. I'm guessing this ins't something you have an off switch for?"
Not that she had an idea what it was like. At all.
"It's this way," pointing in the general direction of the shop, "With a proper map it should be pretty easy to find." She was pretty skilled at navigation, even with the power. Years of using a mini-map had kind of just gotten her used to how to use the cardinal directions to move about.
Now the next question was what to eat. Did she fancy a burger, or maybe a burrito? There was just so much choice in New York it was kind of hard to narrow it all down. Oh God, there was also ramen! She'd never been able to get much of it back home and it was like everywhere in the U.S. About the only thing she was missing was a good curry but with Mexican food on every corner she frankly found it very hard to complain. It was so useful to have a weird metabolism sometimes when it came to being able to try loads of daft food's without much guilt.
Bringing herself back into the actual moment and away from the more foodie thoughts in her, she flashed a smile at her companion. "Anyway, on wards to adventure!"

Alice wasn't an outdoor person. At all. But this was nice, reclining on a blanket with a pretty girl on a nice day just relaxing. Maybe the outside world didn't suck quite so much. At least when taken in small doses with plenty of gaming in between.
Raising an eyebrow at the sudden statement from Astrid, she raised the phone and quickly typed out the words. The results, well they were more than mildly disturbing. Article after article detailing the winged girls activities around the city. Statements form victims, descriptions from people left scared or family members without a loved one. It was, horrific. Who the hell was this girl? Why, why had she done this!?
Worse it started to but some things in perspective. The looks in the bar, the fear in the bouncers eyes. It wasn't anything to do with prejudiced, nothing to do with anti-mutant sentiments. They'd been terrified of the french girl. Her too probably, since she'd been with the angelic looking teen. What had she done, to make them that afraid to even be in the same room as her? What damage had those crystal wings caused. Oh god how close had she been to getting hurt?
Breathing hard, Alice could barely look at the person with her. She was literally everything that the Brit was afraid of. A mutant, who didn't just abuse their power but apparently reveled in it. A person who took their mutation and used it to hurt others. To kill.
Forcing her eyes up, tears coming unbidden she managed to choke out a single word. "Why?" Why do this? Why lie until now, why suddenly tell her the truth?
Gathering up the various plates and cups she'd brought with her and packing them away, the idea of taking the leftover food with her left a sick feeling in her stomach. "Just, keep whatever you want. Eat it, throw it away, I don't care." Turning to leave and wiping the tears away she took one last look at the girl.

"Damn straight they're not love. This is a changing room, one of the few damn places in the club we can get some privacy so excuse us for being a little protective." If s/he got shirty over some kind of perceived issue now of all times she would have a field day. She was already in a mood, their would be creeper mouthing off wasn't on the cards for her.
OK, she had to give them that, that transformation didn't look fun while conscious. But sleeping through it? That seemed insane. No way Skye could sleep while bones shifted and muscles grew/shrank. True the mutation might compensate for all those.....moving parts she just had a hard time imagining that not disturbing her while she was out.
Okay, actually it might not be an actual problem anyway, she never went to bed before three on any given night anyway.
Accepting the drink and taking a very hearty chug, she barely blinked as the stuff burnt it's way down. "Paige, you are the best. Seriously." Beer she'd been expecting, maybe even some fruity cocktail but hard liquor was clearly the right choice. It just hit hard enough that she was really starting to not care anymore. Another two shots and she'd be in the giggly part of drunk and that, that was the best part to be in stressful times.
Putting down her worryingly empty glass, already pouring some more booze, "Yep, early night for me. Got a big event to do tomorrow and the boss wants me rested up. Are you on it two Booksy? Can't remember off the top of my head." Made sense if she was, keeping gamblers buzzing made them way less capable if someone started trouble. Sure they were annoying but that was better than sober, angry and capable of actually hitting a target.

Hormonal kids and destructive powers were certainly not the best mix but the fact that Xaviers stayed open, kept dealing with the problems year was awesome in her eyes. Damn impressive that they cared that much. And had that much money. Because seriously some of the equipment Serena had told her about must have been damn expensive.
A cheeky grin split her face. Yeah, she was going to have to get much smarter about getting a hold of her booze. Getting into fights with every barman in the city wasn't going to get her anywhere. What she needed was a morally dubious store clerk. That might work. "I hear you, but thanks for covering for me today. Been a bit stressful since I got here, you have no idea how much I needed a drink." Shut up, she wasn't addicted or anything, she just had a health thirst built up after a flight, sleeping on a sofa for a couple of days had got her a little antsy. Beer seemed the easiest way to deal with that.
"Thanks, really. You didn't need to deal with a p----- off teenager but you humoured me and gave me some decent perspective." She was still mildly terrified of what she'd done, what she had left to do but at least the city didn't seem as scary anymore.

Oh yeah, that clock was slow but that didn't really matter did it? Not like they had anywhere to be at the moment and their new 'friend' wasn't leaving without answering some questions. Like who the hell was this person being her and what the hell did she think she was doing? That and when the hell were their drink getting there? She needed way more than a buzz.
Skyes' eyes widen at what happened next though, just about anyone would be surprised if they saw that happen right in front of them. What had been a tall and admittedly good looking guy quickly changed (the process itself raised a few hairs for her) into a cute girl in overly large clothing. A very cute girl actually, well built like the guy but damn was s/he easier on the eyes. "Well, that's a trick you should have pulled out earlier sweetie. I'm sure we'd both have been more amenable to you like this." She had a type, so sue her. Not her fault girls were just so much more fun to hang around with.
Not that she was going to let it distract her though, she still had questions and she'd not been on Lust long enough that night to be easily distracted. Much. Giving Paige a grin before turning back to the seated woman with a serious expression, "You need some water or something after that? Can't imagine it's the most comfortable experience."
Offering a bottle from one of the little fridges they had, s/he did have to admit that was one hell of a power set. With that mutation s/he be one hell of an impressive dancer. Way more versatile too, being able to dancer as a guy and girl, wow the tips would be amazing. And the mirror walking, the possibilities int hat during a set were kind of limitless.
Colour Code:054288 - Alice speaks in a strong, very posh, British Accent Massive thanks to Lix for the awesome Sig!
Yep, she was a waitress. Made sense to a logical mind but hers wasn't entirely functioning at full speed, the sudden disappearance of the HUD she'd lived with for years was more than a little rattling. Like, where was she now? How did normal people know which way to go without markers and maps and a compass? It was also really off putting seeing so.....much. She knew her vision was blocked by bits of her power but not this much! It had been so long she'd forgotten what peripheral vision was like.
Made her a little sick if she was being honest, all that extra space around her.
And then the girl was talking again. Fast. Wait, that was brilliant! Her phone, that had a map and stuff on it didn't it, with GPS built in! With that she could get back to the mansion and figure out what the hell was going on with her mutation. No way the 'servers' were down, it wasn't an actual game after all. Unless it was. That was a pretty depressing thought actually.
"Wait, it's fine I was talking abo......." trailing off slowly and blinking it was back. In all it's glory. As soon as this girl backed away. That was.....weird. But probably just a coincidence but it was damn perfectly timed if it was. Shaking her head and looking back up at the girl she brought her phone up, "Sorry, I wasn't quite talking about my phone. That's fine, it was my mutation acting up." Wow, a week months ago just casually admitting being a mutant was unthinkable. Now thought it was totally natural. That was a little strange to Alice but there were cuter problems at hand.
A quick search on the phone and she had the shop up and directions mapped. See, when she had a map she knew exactly which way to go. Which was kind of the point of maps but hey, she was still good at navigating them. "You're in luck though, it's not too far away. Shouldn't take too long to get to. Since your phones dead want me to walk with you? It's not a problem, I'm done with my shopping for the day." Except food, that was important. Always important. Like the most important thing in her life next to games.
With her brain working a little better, and her power co-operating again she had the mental faculties to give the girl a once over. She looked nice, obviously just off work and a little flustered about talking to the Brit. Maybe the White Wolf tee hadn't been the best choice but it was her favourite game and it looked really cool to her. If just a little intimidating to someone not used to that stuff.

And now they were hugging? OK, that was weird. Alice wasn't a hugger, really but Iggy did seem like he needed it. Guy hadn't had an easy life to put it mildly so she wasn't going to begrudge him a squidge. Well, she was also aware he wasn't just doing it in hopes of coping a feel which kept the creep factor down too. That had been one lesson she'd learned early.
"It's cool man, I'm here whenever you want to chill and de-stress." Who'd have guessed the gaming nerd would be emotional support some day? Certainly not her.
Laughing a little at the cold comment, "I guess I'm just that cool. Clearly enough to sap away some of your damn sunniness apparently," jokes and sarcasm were good and easy for her to do so she stuck to it. Well, that and it was kind of a typically English response to serious topics by lightening the mood a little. "Just wait for winter though, you'll think I've ice in my veins."

Well, that was kind of understating it. Astrid's power was pretty nasty looking at it from the outside, the whole stabby wings could certainly be intimidating but that didn't matter to Alice. The girl was nice, to her at least, and her crystals were beautiful. So what if they were dangerous, Alice had never felt anything remotely like fear while hanging out with her french friend.
"I, well yeah I guess you are, but then everyone is. Kind of." God that was not the best way to start, come on Alice, you can do better! "Not that I think you'd hurt me or anything," she added hurriedly, "but it's kind of a people thing. Humans are pretty good at the whole violence thing, mutants just have a few different ways to go about it." In her eyes it wasn't the mutants who were the really scary ones, it was the people running military's or controlling the nukes of the world. Now they, were dangerous people. Not that they had any registrations acts forced on them.
Putting her plate aside and laying down on the blanket, pretty happy with how the day was going, "It's what we do that matters, not what we are. That's what I mean I guess. I just don't see a reason for mutants to be sorry for being different, even if those differences might be dangerous to others." It's not like they looked up really tall or muscular people for being better at fighting than everyone else. Or put restrictions on anyone who had learnt a martial art. All Alice really wanted to do was be able to live like anyone else. And cute girls. Those were helpful too.
It had been a weird date, good but the conversation had been really heavy for a first date. It was just, easy to talk to the other girl with her. Which should be odd, but wasn't. Which was even odder because of it.
Why did things like this have to be complicated? Couldn't she have like a relationship bar or something to help her deal with all the normal people interaction stuff?

Alice just gave Jack a skeptical look. She was awesome, were people really put off by looks that much? No screw that, Jack looked awesome and anyone who could handle her didn't deserve to even get to know her. People with that mindset sucked and frankly that just meant there was more Chief to share with her real friends.
"Haha very funny," she replied, a little sarcastically, "I just thought things were getting better. Especially here with how high profile the X-Men are and how much they help people." But no, apparently people risking their lives and getting more than a few scars on behalf of other people just wasn't enough to prove that, shock horror, mutants were people too. There were bad ones, there were awesome ones. Most just wanted to be left the f--- alone and carry on their lives.
"We were fine, they didn't seem ready to start anything but it was the looks and whisper that got to me. I kind of stormed out with Astrid before any of the stupid bigoted comments could start." Like high school all over again when she'd come out. First the glances, the giggling behind hands. Then the just too loudly whispered insults before the little p----- just outright came out with awful things. Like the worst insults she could have imagined and did the teachers care, nope. Not their job too apparently.
It was just frustrating, to deal with two sets of prejudice at the same time all the while getting told everything was OK. Nothing was wrong. "I just, I was always told that New York was one of the more progressive cities and then you run into something like that and....." trailing off she tried to keep the anger out of her voice. Why couldn't people just not be awful to each other. That wasn't too much to ask, was it?

Oh. That was a weird coincidence. That and the name. And the hair. This was real wasn't it. There was another her, in another world doing normal stuff. How different were they and worse, how similar?
Sitting back down and barely taking note of the mans exit from the mirror her mind was racing with so many possibilities and ideas. Problems and contradictions with all of this weirdness. A creeper was easy to deal with. Call security and they'll get ejected. Roughed up a little too but that was a fair price to pay for being a dirt bag. But this was on a whole different level of messed up.
Sighing and just waving away the punching comment, she wasn't in the mood now for casual violence. Well, that and if she was dealing with it herself it wouldn't be a punch she gave the guy. Skye might have a decent life now but she didn't ever think she was safe. The paranoia of years on the street wasn't something she was getting rid of, especially in situations like this.
"Paige, you are an angel. Doing this sober is not something I want and you're just not cutting it right now. No offense." A buzz was all well and good but it just wasn't the same as a cool, refreshing cocktail. Those were sweet, sour and oh so alcoholic.
Eyeing the man now standing in their room, she glanced at the clock over the door, "It's near midnight. Bit of an earlier shift than normal but I have work tomorrow as well. Why does it matter though? Not like we have anywhere better to be and I imagine you want some questions answered. I know I do." Just a minor understatement, she had to know what the hell was going on. Paige was probably more than just a little curious too, for all the wrong reasons Skye imagined but she wouldn't begrudge the girl a chance to learn about another world. On their doorstep.
Looking him over now that he was in 3D she had to admit he was cute. Had a rugged charm to him and if they'd met in another way she'd be a little interested in getting to know him. Shame he was still very much in the creeper box for now, until he could prove himself anyway.

How were things? Well a good quarter of the decks had been decompressed, their shields were holding on by a papers edge and the Romulan ship was gunning for them and them alone. It's like it knew they were the only ones who had guessed a strategy. "Oh we're doing fine boss, just dealing with a ship five times our size and two hundred years more advanced. Just, you know try not to get fried and I might be able to scratch this big.....thing."
Yeah comm discipline wasn't her strong suit but she doubted Gawain, or pike for that matter, would mind. She was a little busy freaking out about the people she'd kind of gotten killed, them being fictional be damned, and had a very upset vessel doing it's damnedest to scrub them from the sky. Which was still launching missile salvo's right at them.
Wait, the pattern hadn't changed since they'd been hit. They couldn't be that stupid. Right?
Well, with how the fleet was doing it was now or never. Another hit and they were screwed anyway, might as well do what gamers were best at. Clenching their teeth and downing a boss with only a sliver of health left. "Sir, I'm about to bring us in close. Have lasers and torpedoes hit these points at these times," fingers flying she sent the map and damage locations to his chair. "If we do it right we should be able to detonate one of their salvos on top of them."
