The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

They could, also, claim that what they broadcast is fiction, to help cover up. The only issue I can see is that then they have cameras everywhere, so they can see everyone all the time, so any escapes we might want to have happen will be much harder.
I think you are all overthinking this. There can easily be ways to contact the outside world from the neighboring island. Satellite phones, radio, internet, etc.
Or a mutant npc with long range communication abilities.
Soot: We're not thinking from the headquarters island; we're talking about cameras on the hunting island, which record the kidnapped mutants, the hunters, and the resulting battles, then (possibly) put the videos online, probably as a "fictional" action series. The issue with that, then, is that a mutant who's trying to escape may very easily be seen and stopped as well. (Plus, cameras that can fly well enough to record everything might be a bit difficult, especially if we need them to go through jungle, work 24/7, be able to find people, be everywhere in case of a fight occurring, or just have one following each mutant at all times... that requires a lot. It's all possible with real technology, but it'd be difficult, at least in terms of a person having to control drones that carry each camera. And expensive, in replacing cameras that annoyed mutants destroy.)
However! I bet we have someone in the Mansion who could enjoy the fictional series, until they recognize someone they know on it who recently disappeared, and realize it's not fiction. That could be how the X-men find out.
Actually, vice versa might be more entertaining.... Overprotective, angry, immortal Calley.... It would be awesome to have that pair involved, definitely.
So, cbox talk had me suggesting Chase to find the human group's website and tell Jorge and Mama T about it. This, to me, would work better than a Cafley scene due to the fact the Mansion and Police would soon become involved. One of the family would most likely recognize either someone they know or someone they know is missing.
I know that this would only work if the writers agree, but it was an idea.
Would it be alright by all, if Markus was one of the main Orchestrators of the Hunt? Once things go down hill for the rich there and everyone else, he will start killing off everyone else in the command and viewing area and funneling what money he can to his own hands and make it look like he was being hunted as well. On a side note, this could be a big battle if the X Men show up and get the wrong impression and think the more criminalized mutants are responsible and try to get back at them.
Markus: I think the original big battle was just supposed to be between the Xmen and the organizers... and I'm not sure how very unhappy the X men would really be if people (not all humans) who are kidnapping mutants to hunt them for sport are killed off by some of the mutants that they kidnapped, so I'm not sure the X men would immediately target the more criminal mutants. (Plus, I don't actually recall many of our well known criminal PCs wanting to be kidnapped....) I'm fine with Markus being involved, certainly, but it'll take everyone's opinions if we want to change what the battle is from 'X-men and kidnapped mutants against the kidnappers' to 'kidnappers are already dead, X-men against some of the kidnapped mutants that they think killed the kidnappers.'
Of course, Markus could also pretend to have been spying on the group to try and destroy them, or something similar, and get the X men to leave him alone that way, if they get there before he gets away.
My humble opinion is this, the camera drones are very rare and almost reaching the technological limitation. Right now is currently strictly military technology, so it would be very difficult to obtain, also it would be too costly to realize a proper maintenance and to replace once destroyed.
My idea, we can use hidden cameras in the clothes of the mutants, or perhaps necklaces with cameras, thus it would look more like a reality show. You could see the mutants trying to survive in first person, while other cameras located in the weapons or vehicles would give the viewer the point of view of the hunter.
This third option may be impossible to implement with the current technology but still here it is... In the manga Btooom, a group of people is left on an island to fight with some species of grenades. There is no camera on the island, the bracelets the participants are using capture their movement, and the surrounding area with a kind of sonar. Then the sonar images are modeled to show a 3d computer generated image of the characters and surroundings. With current technology, perhaps it could be possible, but the resulting image would be almost like a cartoon or computer generated image. Not realistic enough for some viewers.
