The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Character
Personality:
Aubrey is a fun-loving and care-free person. He is intelligent, charming, level-headed, honest. He loves to joke around and just live life. Aubrey doesn't like to fight, and prefers other means of solving problems.
It is for these reasons that Aubrey despises his powers. When he isn't in control of them, his personality becomes much the opposite. He is ornery and extremely stubborn, hateful, angry, deceitful, and violent. (This is better explained under the Mutations section.)
Aubrey hates this because his powers are destructive but he ordinarily isn't. He thrives to be a 'good guy' to make up for it but struggles when he seems to destroy everything around him. He is afraid of hurting those close to him, and so often keeps to himself. He's afraid people will hate him if he slips up, and so he is desperate not to let that happen. He isn't always quick to trust someone, because he's worried that if he lets someone into his life, they will get hurt, or hurt him. This isn't to say he mistrusts everyone, though, because he doesn't. He just wants to make sure his friends are really his friends.
Hobbies/ Interests: Cars, music, art, having fun. Job or part time job and description: N/A Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Mostly, Aubrey fears that his powers are going to get out of hand and he'll end up hurting those close to him and the innocent. Other concerns stem off of this, mostly. Special talents: Artistic and musical.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other:
Good-- he strives to prove he is good even when his powers might say otherwise. He doesn't much care for them, and so works to show that he isn't as bad as they may make him seem.
Mutations
Mutation description:
Aubrey's powers stem from two spiritual familiars that only he can see, making it seem as if they reside inside his head (this isn't entirely true, however, because the two beings can cause something to happen in the real world, free of Aubrey's control, if they have enough energy built up). The familiars have two forms: that of a human, and their original form of an animal, and they may switch between the forms at will.
These beings are part of him, and part of each other, but all three are different. This leads to the most immediate part of his powers: a sort of "split personality". Aubrey has his own personality, but that must always contend with the two different, yet similar, personalities of the two familiars.
One is Aphos. He is the male familiar. He's fairly straightforward. Aphos is smart, but not good with plans. He much prefers charging in and seeing how things go, not using his powers as much as using brute force. He is the type to forge his own path rather than follow that of someone else. Stubborn like no other, Aphos won't have anything other than "his way". Aphos is quick to anger, and loves to argue. He is ornery, blunt, selfish, and arrogant. His true love is chaos and ruin, and he doesn't know much of mercy or pity. He's a brute with a one-track mind. Aphos is about physical tactics. In his human form, Aphos is tall with short silver white hair and deep blue eyes. He is usually holding some kind of weapon, a battleaxe being his favorite. Aphos' animal form is that of a snow leopard, though about 1.5-2x larger than any ordinary leopard.
The other is Aelau. She is the female familiar, and is quite the opposite of Aphos in most respects. Aelau is persuasive, cunning, precise, patient, calculating. She's very intelligent, and can find it easy to get herself one or more steps ahead of her enemy, depending on who that opponent may be. Aelau enjoys destruction and mayhem every bit as much as Aphos, but she expresses this differently. Aelau doesn't charge in blindly: she enjoys forming plans of attack as much as seeing them through. Of the two, she would be the first to take advantage of their powers, and prefers using them in her plans rather than going without them as Aphos so often does. Aelau very much enjoys watching her enemies squirm. While she can get caught up in watching or making others suffer, she is more rational, logical, and able to think things through, far more than Aphos ever could. She considers every angle she can think of, and whittles things down to make her actions as satisfying as possible. Whereas Aphos is physical, Aelau focuses more on mental and emotional tactics. One other thing about Aelau: when she's not fighting or plotting, and even sometimes when she is, her personality seems rather bubbly. She almost acts like a child, getting excited over little things, and seeming much more friendly than she truly is. Her relationship with Aubrey is even more aparent when she's like this; she almost sees him as a sort of pet, and often treats him as such, like a pampered dog. In her human form, Aelau is slender with long black hair and deep green eyes. As an animal, Aelau is a black-backed jackal, and like Aphos, is about 1.5-2x larger than a normal jackal.
At different times, the personalities of Aphos and Aelau may be present. This may be a minor occurrence, with the traits of one showing up occasionally along with Aubrey's, seeming like a random outburst. It can also be far more serious, with one of the familiars taking over completely or near completely and being able to use their powers at will. When this happens, it is usually for a short time, the longest period so far having been around thirty minutes.
Strengths:
If ever Aubrey wasn't sure how to react to something, Aphos or Aelau would step up and respond. They might not always have the best ideas in Aubrey's opinion, but at least they're doing something, right?
Aphos and Aelau know how to fight, so if Aubrey is in danger, they would likely be a very valuable resource. Not that he'd ever admit that. And not that he's planning on getting in a situation that would require their techniques to get out of.
An advantage for Aubrey: Aphos and Aelau don't always get along, which means that instead of the two of them fighting Aubrey for control, quite often they are also fighting each other. The commotion is greater, but Aubrey isn't quite so vulnerable.
Weaknesses:
Aubrey isn't really a fan of the two familiars, mostly because of their love for destruction and the like, whereas he is the opposite. A lot of what they say or do upsets him.
On the occasions when Aubrey isn't able to hold them back and one takes over, Aubrey has minimal to no control. Aphos or Aelau could do whatever they pleased.
Because they are attached to Aubrey, the spirits are never far away. This doesn't go so well for the boy, because the closer they are, the easier it is for them to influence him or challenge him for control of his body. The best chance they have at taking over is when they are in contact with him. This requires a sort of "overlapping", as they can't physically touch him due to actually being in a different "world" than Aubrey (spiritual v. reality). From there, the farther away they get, the harder it would be for them to take control. Having observed them almost since the day he realized they were there, Aubrey has noticed neither has tried to take over when more than twenty-five or so feet away. Because of this, Aubrey believes that is about the range they have to work with.
When either of the spirits takes over, Aubrey's mind remains in tact but he has no control over it. To his brain, it would appear like the three had rotated positions: Aubrey would take the place of whatever spirit had taken over (instead of Aubrey seeing Aphos and Aelau beside him, Aelau would see Aphos and Aubrey. However, should either take over, Aubrey's appearance, build, everything remains the same. There are no physical changes). When this happens, Aubrey has to fight even harder to regain control than he does to maintain it.
Secondary mutation description:
Aphos and Aelau are animal spirits, as seen by their original animal forms. They can take on the forms of a leopard and jackal respectively. Because of that, Aubrey can do the same. He can shift to the form of Aphos' snow leopard or Aelau's black-backed jackal completely, or may only take on certain characteristics of one.
Strengths:
When Aubrey shifts, he can do anything that animal could do. If he takes on certain parts, he can use those in the same way. Both situations are further enhanced by Aubrey's human mind, as this is not lost even when fully shifting. The capability of human thought combined with the instincts, senses, and power of the animals can be very useful.
Weaknesses:
Aubrey doesn't have the greatest control over this power. This mostly affects how long he is able to sustain the transformation, whether it is complete or partial. Also, the more often he shifts, especially if he shifts completely, the less he can keep the transformation going. In his current state of control over the ability, the longest he could hold out a full transformation under the best circumstances would be between two or three hours, pushing it.
Aubrey has a tough time dealing with the spirits normally. When shifting, Aubrey is moving closer to them and their powers, which gives them more strength. Especially when fully transformed, or when shifting at all unintentionally, Aubrey has to fight Aphos and Aelau to maintain control over his own mind. Usually, the spirit associated with whichever form he takes is even stronger than the other, which also makes it difficult for Aubrey to choose which form to take when he shifts. Both Aphos and Aelau are usually more intent on gaining control when Aubrey has shifted, mainly because the animal form is more closely related to their natural selves than the human form.
In regards to the distance between the spirits and Aubrey, the strength of his shifted form varies. The closer the spirits are, the stronger the animal form is. Though Aubrey hasn't experienced this--probably because Aphos and Aelau are so eager to take over at any chance they get--were the spirits to be absent, completely withdrawn into his mind, Aubrey's strength while shifted would be half of what it is when they are as close to him as they could get.
Fighting Style
Explanation:
Aubrey isn't much of a fighter, hasn't had much experience. He'd have hardly a clue as to what he was doing if he got into one. Aphos and Aelau might say otherwise. Should they get in control, Aphos would lead Aubrey to be real physical, unafraid of the consequences. He'd fight with wild abandon. Aelau would be more precise and calculating, she'd trick and confuse the opponent. But she'd probably be rather violent, too. There is usually always some sort of animalistic bahvior too, considering Aphos and Aelau's powers.
Pros for fighting style:
Aphos and Aelau would probably be rather effective fighters, if the situation arose. Aubrey, however, would prefer not to let it get that far.
Cons for fighting style:
If Aphos or Aelau were to take charge in a fight, Aubrey would have minimal control. Unless the other person knew what they were doing, they'd probably get seriously hurt, and Aubrey wouldn't be able to stop it.
The cons as far as Aphos and Aelau are concerned would be the lack of physical change in Aubrey when either takes over. This means his strength, speed, etc does not improve. All the familiars get is their style of fighting, but that is limited by Aubrey's capabilities.

History Of Your Character
Aubrey had a fairly normal life for his first several years: only child of a middle-class family, fairly nice house, getting by just fine. He did well in school, especially excelling in music and arts. Nothing out of the ordinary. Until he was about thirteen, that is. He was in the car with his parents, going on some sort of vacation. They were on the interstate.
There wasn't much that could have been done. It had just snowed, the road was slippery. Somewhere ahead, someone must have started sliding, maybe spun out. They didn't see that happen. All they saw was the car in front of them stop suddenly without warning. Aubrey's dad, the driver, tried to do the same so the cars wouldn't collide. Not a chance. They'd barely even slowed down before they struck the other car.
The damage was done. Aubrey's father was killed, his mother had several broken bones. As for Aubrey himself: he had suffered a fairly serious head injury. But apparently, it looked worse than it was. The doctors didn't report any brain damage, and they said that after a bit of rest and some helpful medication, he'd be as good as new.
Physically, this was true. But the doctors must have missed something, because things were never the same for Aubrey. He started seeing things, hearing things. There were two beings, a man and a woman (or sometimes a leopard and jackal), that showed up a lot, no matter where he was. But no one else noticed them.
He didn't accept it at first, but he eventually realized they weren't going away. He didn't have to like it, though.
Over the next two or so years, whatever the two beings were developed into what he is dealing with today, and have continued to grow stronger. There was also more: along with these two beings, Aubrey found himself turning into either of the two animals at random times. Sometimes it was completely, sometimes only partly. He realized there was a problem, and that he'd have to do something about it. He just wasn't sure what.
He tried putting up with it, but found out that didn't quite work. Things went wrong. A lot. So instead of continuously putting those around him at risk, he decided to leave and look for help. He found out about the mansion, and has made that his destination.

“Kid, you don't know what you're doing. You're going to get lost, probably starve. Do you know what that's going to mean? Huh? Do you?!” Aphos towered over Aubrey, who wasn’t exactly short. Aphos’ face was deep red with anger. He clenched his fists as if he were ready to punch Aubrey’s head in.
“Shut up,” Aelau ordered.
Aphos whipped around and aimed the daggers in his stony blue eyes at her as she followed the two down the street. “What did you say to me? You wanna repeat that?!”
Aelau rolled her icy green eyes, her voice sounding exasperated; no matter how long you were around boys and their ridiculous antics, it was still just as tiring. “Seriously, Aphos, you've got problems. There's no need to yell. Just relax.”
“Oh, Smartypants has all the answers!” Aphos growled, shoving wisps of dusty blonde hair from his face. “If you haven't noticed, him dying means us dying! Maybe I'm speaking for myself, but if I'm going to die, I'd rather it not be for something stupid like starving because someone decided to run away from home!”
“I'm not running away,” Aubrey countered, getting defensive.
“No one asked you.”
“Aphos, be nice to the child,” Aelau chastised him, something Aphos was used to from her. She turned to Aubrey. “He’s just overreacting, Aubrey, don't pay any mind to him.”
“Overreacting?! I'll show you overreacting!” Aphos bellowed as he lunged at Aelau. She smiled and jumped out of the way just as he would have struck her. Aubrey watched, amused even if his mood deteriorated whenever Aphos got like this, which was often.
Though they were a massive burden, the familiars were very interesting. They both loved to fight, and often sparred with each other. That was about the only thing they could do, since they were spiritual and couldn’t physically touch someone living. Well, mostly. Sometimes they managed to make contact, if there was enough energy behind the touch (mostly when Aphos was really upset and tried shoving or hitting Aubrey).
“If you're so concerned about your well-being,” Aelau chirped, “why don't you guide him? Give him suggestions so he doesn't kill himself, and us along with him.”
Aphos stared at her, a blank look in his eyes that was soon masked by frustration. “Well, of course that's what I was gunna do. I don't need you to tell me such things! I would have thought of that." He crossed his arms like a pouting two-year-old.
"Sure you would have, dear. I've no doubt," Aelau said, grinning from ear to ear. For some reason, ticking off Aphos was one of her favorite things to do. Aubrey had no idea why. If Aphos could touch him, Aubrey would do his best to stay under the radar. Actually, even without the familiar being able to hurt him, Aubrey liked to avoid Aphos' wrath. But Aelau made a game of it.
"Will you two please stop?" Aubrey flinched as Aphos' harsh gaze returned to him. "I'm not running away, and I don't think I'll be starving anytime soon. I have money." He'd been planning this little excursion for quite some time, and had saved up every penny he'd gotten since he decided the trip was necessary. He had some few hundred dollars, enough for food and a cheap hotel of some sort until he could get a new job, as well as the plane ticket he was going to need. But as much as Aphos was concerned about this, Aubrey's main focus was on getting where he needed to be and then getting the help he was seeking, not being a little short on food for awhile. If he couldn't, well, then all of this was utterly pointless.
As he continued walking to the airport, which was still a few blocks away, Aubrey reveled in the silence. It wasn't often that Aphos and Aelau were quiet; they liked to let their presence be known. Aubrey looked around, and was greeted with yet another wonderful surprise: he couldn't even see them! The familiars had withdrawn into his head, where they would hopefully stay for some time. This was rare, when they'd completely leave him alone for even a moment, and he was going to appreciate every sweet second.
As he walked, Aubrey let thoughts and images of what he hoped this move would bring tease him. He was looking for someone to help him with his unruly powers, but maybe he'd find more. Like, a friend? One could only hope. He stuffed his hands in the pocket of his hoodie and smiled, looking forward to the next chapter of his life.
