The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Got a plot in mind?
MRO plots are player-created the Mods facilitate and organize the big ones, but we get the ideas from you. Do you have a plot in mind, and want to know whether it needs Mod approval? Check out our plot guidelines.
.OK so with FP Taking its curtain call, I was thinking that it was high time we figure out what is next for MRO Aug09-May10.
the last three plots have been.
Haywire- Catch a girl that makes us muties go beserk with uber power!
Registration- Lock up the mutants and throw away the key.
FP- A look into the would be future.
all three in my opinion have been interesting and fu in there own way, but I would like to see something that was a bit mre stream lined, something with twists and turns and with a monthly plot device. another piece to a puzzle and I have no Idea how to get us such a vunder-plot.
So I am asking for help, and Ideas. do we throw the threee factions into a head to head to head. do we try to bring them togther against a greater evil,
do we the mutants face off versus something else to protect the humans?
shoudl we tie in the mastermind behind FP perhaps it is guiding us in the direction we need to be to prepare for what is to come?
SInce we have seen the future do we take a jump to the past?( I think that may be fun, but for the pp(past plot) I think it would be interesting to hit a diffrent time period every month or every time we went to sleep. Idunno)
whatever we come up with I hope to, with the other mod's help come up with some fresh twist to throw at you each month.
Historian: « Reply #14 on Sept 30, 2009, 3:32 » "...Mr.O, I think I love you." Calliope « Reply #11 on Dec 03, 2009, 19:02 » "Mr. O, have I told you lately that I love you?"
Oh, I love the jump in different time periods in the past idea. That would be really fun and would allow us to develop a current plot/past plot just like it happened in the future one.
Relating mutants with history would be a fun research, I believe. Like the gods in ancient mythologies being mutants. Werecat and Sebastian have a really interesting thread related to this idea.
So yeah, I think a past plot would be so much fun and offer a large amount of rp possibilities. Changing to a new time period every month would be better, I don't think we can have so many threads to allow us to jump in time every time our characters go to sleep.
And if this past plot will allow a current plot too, I think we can toss something in here as well. Maybe a super-powerful mutant (like Apocalypse, for example) deciding to take over the world so the factions would be forced to fight side by side once again, each one following its own interests in the same time?

I think if we were to do a past plot, Id rather see it work the same way the FP worked so that we could still post in regular time. I think it would be interesting to have a mutant with time travel capabilities (like Coraline!) accidentally use her power on all the mutants in the vicinity or something and they could all be blasted to different time periods and have to find ways to get back home, naturally continuing to get blasted to the wrong time periods until the plot ends.
However, this could be redundant of the FP and it would be nice to have something 100% new and original.
What if we were to take a comic approach? Remember how in the comics Magneto was all about Genosha? it would be interesting to apply a similar concept to our game. Perhaps one of the factions like the Kabal could be heading it up. A new place where mutants could be left alone in peace. Some mutants are for it, some against, some aren't sure... some recruit, some want to destroy it. It would be interesting for an ongoing background thing so people don't have to take part or can take part as much as they want. obviously some aspects would effect the site as a whole and others on a more individual bases. I can see it flowing a lot like the camps plot. Again, these are all just minor spur of the moment suggestions that should we consider would need a great deal of tinkering with.
But since Im talking about genosha... did anyone read house of M? Just a quickie refresher, Wanda loses control of her powers and under the influence of her brother alters reality to give the mutants all what they think they want. Of course, for wolverine and some other mutants it doesn't work and they have to go around trying to "wake up the others" to reality in a matrix kind of sense. I could see a plot like that working for us very much in the sense the FP did. It would likely be separate from regular play but still be a long-running plot. We'd need different profiles for how the character's life's have changed etc. Maybe they're not even a mutant in the false reality. And it would become the mission of those who are aware to "wake up the others" and find the source of this false reality and stop it. with this plot I think our characters would remember everything after it happened and grow significantly as characters. In house of M even dead characters were alive and there was a lot of issue behind whether they wanted the false reality to end or not... because in real life they were dead!
Again, that may be redundant of the FP and as I said, only a suggestion. Take it as a grain of salt.
I just think, we've used haywire to death, we worked hard to put registration to death as well. I don't want to start overusing the alternate time/space thing either to the point is has to be put to death.....
but I'd like to see people consider plot lines from the comics. It may seem less creative but we are our own site and we can mold them to our needs and interests. I think it'll help us avoid some of the things we do so much of and keep things interesting while providing inspiration.

Yeah, I almost kept the past plot in my pocket for suggesting until two plots from now so 10-11 instead of 09-10. i wasn't sure more time travel was needed I just know I for one am a jealous jellybean o the Egypt thread and wouldn't min hitting some other time periods.

The well recieved thread "Egypt" of were in mind Id like to take your Idea of time travel a little bit farther then just to the childhood stage of the present mutants. All across the world mutants with the power of premonition are beginning to see....darkness. Their powers show them a place where they are nullified and sent back with headaches or worse. As the unknown event approaches, strange things begin to happen to mutants and humans alike all over the world. Things are...distorted. Places and times do not match up any more, as time itself is beginning to fragment and shatter into little pieces taking people into different places to different times. What is the reason beind those events?
Basically a common time travel and save the world story. Find out what is causing the problem through visits to major different timelines, but always remember remember the temporal prime directive! Do not interfere with the unfolding of history. (Overstepping and following results are guaranteed... Wanna kill Lincoln yourself?
I vote for anything that doesn't involve any manner of new profiles, just from the Chara Mod perspective.
I'll also toss out the 'null' option: we don't technically need an over-riding plot if we don't have a good one in mind. Personally, I'm excited to see what the Factions will do--this will be the first time in about three years that all three Factions have active Leaders who are planning missions for them. I'm game to see the next school year full of plots and counter-plots of the Factions running missions, crossing paths, and building/breaking alliances. Small-scale plots can keep us busy, too.
Whatever plot we do, I'd love for it to not interfere with that--aka, run like the Future Plot, where normal events can carry on... not like the Registration Plot, which nearly killed all of our Factions by locking them into one on-going plotline.
Also note that this plot doesn't have to last that whole time--it can go for a month, two, three, etc. The Registration Act and FP were the longest plots in MRO history, and we don't necessarily need to match those lengths. It ain't a tradition; it's just an option. We can go shorter, too.

yeah, I think anything we do would be nice to have run separate unless it's something that would make sense to run at the same time without locking everyone up.
I agree with Calley/Slate on the not creating separate profiles thing. That was a lot of work. You think writing a profile is time consuming, try approving thirty or so of them.
I have mixed feelings about time travel. We kind of just did it and it didn't necessarily work out all that well. Maybe we could try it again sometime, but not right away. I'd like to stick with things that happen in the real world for awhile, like small scale plots and missions.
Using ideas from the comic books is fine with me- I'm just not that familiar with them. Chances are if we ended up running something that was based on a comic idea, it would end up very different in the MRO universe. I don't think we have to worry too much about being strictly original. With all our original characters it happens pretty much automatically anyway.
I'd really like to try something more simple than the previous two plots. Registration and the Future Plot were cool, but they didn't always run smoothly. It seems to be that the more complex we make things, the harder it is to actually RP. If we don't have a great idea for a really long plot, there is nothing wrong with shorter plots. The shorter ones might even be a blessing. We've got a lot of missions in the works for the factions, it might be kind of nice to just see how those run.
Don't forget the stuff we do already have planned:
I'm not sure if anyone else would agree with me or not, but the list that Kat posted there seems rather full. Trying to make sure all of that being done and RPed out will likely take a lot of our RP time. My suggestion is, especially with the Freaky Friday and destroying of Haywire plots, just go with that for now without a huge overriding plot. Come Dec/Jan, we can look again, see where we stand with the faction missions and the adapteds, and see if we have a good idea for a large site wide plot then.

I second Lee on the matter of a new plot, to me the plot plate seems a bit full as is, we could always do a major plot later down the line. Also I like Raina's idea about going lost in time, it could be fun to play out...
I am going to have to agree with the 'no more time travel right now'. The traveling to different periods of the pasy sounds like a great idea but i think a small Freaky Friday plot sandwiched between two time travel plots is a bit of the timeteam overload. I personally enjoy the idea of travelling back to some favorite eras, but I don't think right now is the right time.
The Genosha idea seems pretty fun, segregating the mutants from the humans. We do have a few things going on this summer, so we shouldnt be seriously debating the school yeart plot. Right now, we should just come up with a basic idea. Do we want another time plot? A segregation plot (we can even toggle around with new york laws, a sort of 'separate but equal' laws and riots and lawsuits that follow) or an Apocolypse plot.
No matter what, I think a plot separate from the boards would be good, so people that come in mid-plot can still rp with all of the older members. Maybe we can even create a different section: like we have a New York, Sanctuary, Sister School, etc categories, why don't we maybe have a plot category? Where you can post in a category or even just different threads in a board instead of long threads. Now i am sorry if this idea has already been used, i havent been around for the past few plots.
With all of the plots going on, our characters are growing and so are we as roleplayers. So I agree, we dont need to stress about the new school year plot but brainstorming is always good.

A segregation plot could become redundant of registration but the way I see it is that it could be a theme that just runs behind the scenes. I think it would provide role play opportunities but at the very least give our characters something to talk about. Especially those hurt from the registration... maybe they'd want to band together and form a place only for mutants? It would be less prejudiced than registration as I see it and more of a self reflection for each mutant. Humanity hurt them too much? separate from humanity. I dont know... it's inspired by the comic plots ^_^ and it worked well there! lol. I think we could do our own unique spin on it... I think it's something Naveed would get seriously interested in too which would be nice to get him more involved >.> lol

I think that with the amount of missions being planned for the summer it would make sense to wait a little bit before we run off and try to finish off the summer plots and start with a new plot at the same time. I think we should get a list of all the plots/missions that are being planned for the summer so that we can have an accurate idea of what will be going on. Not just a 'here's a few of the plots'. Also if we have a definitive ending idea then we could have the sub plots running through the summer and into the 09-10 year. Just like we did with the Valentines Party thread/mission. It would keep things separate from the CP but also allow us to work towards whatever was agreed on with the ending idea.
I'm not sure if I'm making any sense here. So for example: Let's say the ending idea was to destroy the Haywire Virus by May10. OK. This would mean that through out the summer we would have more secretive missions running that would be focused on finding things like where the virus is manufactured, who is making the virus, etc. Those missions could also take us into other missions that would run us around to different places and even point us at spies, the other factions, or even the government. Hopefully this clears things up of what I was saying.
I agree with letting the smaller plots run for now. Give people some time to do what they want for the most part. Then come together to figure out a larger plot later on.
