The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Got a plot in mind?
MRO plots are player-created the Mods facilitate and organize the big ones, but we get the ideas from you. Do you have a plot in mind, and want to know whether it needs Mod approval? Check out our plot guidelines.
Interesting, but dangerous. It brings to mind a cult. Perhaps, we could do something with cults? Maybe not?
Perhaps we could do a short plot involving a falsified alien abduction/encounter that leads the people of New York to question mutants as the cause? In reality, it could be some anti-mutant Weird News of the Week paper as the cause.
Alternatively, we could do a little plot about pollution!
If you don't know what I'm talking about, look for H.P. Lovecraft.
I think it would be nice to not have any sort of overriding plot right now. Maybe we could have a freeform character developement time in between now and our next plot. Let relationships deepen, character personalities be explored, and the like. Maybe we could keep track of all of the little more important ones, and just before the next plot post a sortof summary of how the world views mutants, based on our actions.
I know that's a lot of work for the plot people, but I think it's a cool idea.
NO! We Shall all only do the plot, NO sub plots, no Characterization, Only solving the gigantic problem at hand! No....ok it was fun to pretend, but yeah this sounds like it could be fun.
I know I'm new here and It's probably kind of weird for me to be popping up an idea after only a few days on the site, and also, I don't know if this was mentioned or not, but here's an Idea that's been going about in my head for a few days now. It could be interesting, and I'd really like to see how it plays out. Though, I sort of wonder if some of you will compare it somewhat to the Registration Act and the Camps... Anyway, here goes.
The big picture is this: A new Zoo is being built in New York, yet it has secretive, and possibly dark plans that don't involve Animals at all. In fact, there's a group of Anti-Mutants, along with a few Mutants who have either willingly or forcefully been involved, that are going on a Mutant Hunt, capturing any Mutant they see and putting them in a Cage for show. ~ Another idea? Though honestly, I don't like it as much as the first... Well, some Anti-Human Mutants (Order? Unaffiliated Mutants?) Have created this Underground Fight Club where they bring in Humans, forcing them to fight against Mutants. The Humans, obviously, are often kidnapped or taken by force, but the Mutants go willingly. This could lead up to mysterious Deaths, making the Mutant Population who aren't Anti-Humans search around for Clues etc.

As eager as I am to be a part of a macro plot, I'd have to agree that it sounds like there is plenty going on for the summer and it might be best to wait a little while.
The zoo idea does sound interesting, but I do agree with what you said, it sounds too much like the registration act. The fight club is kind of already in place, I believe it is called the Thunder Dome but it's only open to mutants.
Just throwing in a little thought: what about if some of the insane mutants (Hymn, Hull, Ahorta, and anyone else with some sort of mental malfunction) try to make the world fit them better. Nevermind, didn't really think that one out.
What about this: clones? The government has been working on a project where they clone everyone who is majorly important to the factions. Like they clone all the X-Men, clone Slate and the Kabal, clone Syn and Seizure and the Order. Or maybe just the ones in charge. Then what would happen is those clones would be sent out and capture their originals, taking over their position as lead of their faction and trying to possibly have that cult idea or change things to their government purposes. Anyone with a clone would control their own clone, but the only thing different about the clone is that is has a mission. They act the same, look the same, have the same memories, but they have the wrong objective in mind. This would create chaos as people began to fear everyone because they can't tell who is real and who is not. Meanwhile, the originals are stuggling to escape and destroy their clone.
I think it would be fun and fairly easy to make the adapteds plot go in a direction where the factions had to work together. If the Adapted ban together and start wiping out mutants, like Tyranny is doing, the mutant groups would have to rework their thinking and start working as a united group.
I know there was some togetherness with the registration plot, but doing it again would reinforce those bonds and work towards the idea of a united mutant front. I think Rania's idea about the comics and Genosa/Magneto is a good idea that draws on the ground work that was laid in the Future plot, ie Antarctica and the secret faction and the new mutant school that Katrina and Cally(I think) made, ect... A new faction maybe, something not as polarized as the Order and the X men and not as secretive, money driven, and with fewer conspiracies than the Kabal. A faction more focused on integrating mutants.
I know there was some togetherness with the registration plot, but doing it again would reinforce those bonds and work towards the idea of a united mutant front.
For OOC reasons, I'd be terribly horribly violently opposed to any longish plot that promotes "working together". A bit of OOC MRO history: the Registration Plot nearly killed the site, for various reasons. One of them was the lack of Faction lines; it took us a literal year to rebuild the Factions after that plot. We're only getting all of them healthy and active again now. You might have noticed the restructuring that went on in all the Factions recently--Slate's takeover of the Kabal, the reordering of the Order, and CS taking more charge in the X's. All that was needed because of the Faction breakdown in the Registration Plot.
Short plot that has Factions working together (an OOC month or so, like the Brawl) == a good experience for our characters.
Long plot that has Factions working together == potential for Faction Death, and another year of putting things back into functional condition.
Disclaimer: there were a lot of things that contributed to the Registration Plot's OOC issues, and the lack of Faction lines was only one of them. It's possible without the other factors, breaking down the Faction lines for a long stretch would be fine. But... I still shudder at the thought of repeating past mistakes without a very vivid warning.
Plot-wise, I'm still game for letting the next school year be freeform. That'll allow for the next Kabal takeover to run smoothly (it's looking like all Factions can run missions during it, if they're interested; more details this Fall/Winter), and all sorts of fun small-scale missions for all Factions. I've been here just about three years: this is the first year where all three Factions have been functional. I'd like to see what they'd do. *is like a kid on a sugar high waiting in line for a rollarcoaster* *bounce bounce bounce* PS: Aura had a very cool idea on the Cbox for the next plot, that involved (insert plot device here) that resulted in everyone switching their alignment: aka, the Mansion became a school for Mutant Supremacists, the X-Men it's militia thugs, the Order/Sanctuary became a place of peace and cooperation with humans. Basically, all characters switched their morals, to the extreme. Logistically, it'd probably be run similar to the Future Plot (takes place in an alternate sort of reality), so that new players don't get horribly confused by it. I thought that was kind of cool. It would really stretch every character's player, to think in an entirely different way. Predator could give small human children rides on his big fluffy back while CS gathers orphans for target practice...
But yes. For the Fall/Winter, I'd love seeing what the Factions come up with, when they're all nice and active like this.
Wow, I would have quite a bit of fun with that. Fade would go back into the way she once was even more insane anyways. Dunno how I could get Ahorta to change. I mean, she's just pure insane, I wonder what it would be like if she was pure good insane? She'd see people as giant stuffed animals and skip down the street with a lollipop. She'd attack people with hugs and cotton candy and have a panic attack when she can't find her tricycle!
Ahahaha! I'm interested in that
And just because I am a nerd and I was bored, I made them mini plot siggies. Ahorta wouldn't wear a face mask, but a masquerade ball mask!
On an interesting note: if everyone in the world did do a moral flip-flop, it might end up with most humans tolerating/supporting/fan-girling over mutants. That would be an interesting change. o.O *pictures Evil Shin having a field day with innocent fan girl humans*
*and evil kid Koga spray-painting all of Central Park's benches...*
PS: If we switch alignments, so help me, the Kabal will take over Canada.
This Flip Flop idea has some serious potential! I would really like to do this some day. If not for the next plot then for a plot some time down the road. *votes Alignment Plot*
