The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Glaring at the green man, she could have sworn that she saw a flicker but just as quickly as it was there it was gone again. Some kind of trick of the light, surely. Green Man seemed pretty upset that she'd just accused him of trying to steal from her, but any would be thief would deny their transgressions if caught in the act. Words of innocence were no proof at all. Words were easy. She'd offer similar words in his position.
Narrowing her eyes at the man who had tried to take advantage of her, 6 colorful gem bats flew out of her purse and landed upon her neck and shoulders. Small as they were, they weren't as dangerous as some of her larger pets, but when all your edges were razor sharp even small creatures could draw blood. Besides, no point in keeping them hidden now. Her profile was so much the better with her friends to accompany.
"Innocent? And a picture to prove it?" She tilted her head to the side, considering. Did he look trustworthy? Did she believe him? Did it matter? Maybe not, but she was curious. If this picture was a fabrication or if she decided that she just didn't like his answers, she could always draw blood later. There was still time. "OK, I'm willing to listen. But only because you're a mutant." Humans were boring. Maybe this one would be less boring.

Mage
Being in an actual good mood might also be considered unusual in the life of Shard. Feeling well fed was certainly a part of it as was the knowledge that she had her very own dwelling. And money, not to forget that, of course. Not a lot of money, but a lot more money than she'd had only a couple of weeks prior. Oh, she had managed to survive living the street just fine, managed to thrive even. Her pets always did her bidding when needed and, as a mutant who wasn't afraid to get a little blood on her, she'd been both feared and respected by her fellow street people. Even so, it was damn nice not to have to worry about any of that anymore. Damn nice.
As she walked, humming softly under her breath, she didn't notice the man trailing her. While her past (and quite likely her future as well) had certainly involved it's fair share of theft, she was more 'the send her pets to do her bidding' than use her own skills to pickpocket type. Not exactly the stealthy type anyway, why get her own fingers bloody when she had perfectly serviceable pets to draw blood instead? Where the blood was a metaphor. Of course. The idea that someone might be trailing her didn't occur to her. The even more absurd idea that someone might actually try to steal from her definitely didn't occur to her. The idea that she even had anything worth stealing was something only barely accepted.
It was the sound of crystal tinking softly against crystal that alerted her to the invasive and uninvited hand within her purse. Bats, 6 of them all in brightly different colours and weighing no more than a cell phone each, lay nestled within and, unless one anticipated such a finding, it would have been difficult indeed not to make any noise as one brushed against another. Intruders made her angry and when she was angry her pets were angry. Angry bats bit and the closest bat tried to take a bite out of the intruding hand almost before it's mistress completely registered what was happening. Instincts..
Spinning, she set her glare upon someone who could only be described as a green alien. "How dare you?!" she demanded. Her bats flittered in agitation.
If Shard had been asked a month ago what the chances were of her frequenting an actual club she would have said they were exactly zero. Homeless, aimless and harboring a grudge against most who called themselves human, clubs just weren't her scene. A lot could change in a month, as she had begun to learn. The Syndicate had not only given her a purpose but also a home on a completely new and different world. If that wasn't reason enough to explore the edges of her comfort zone, she didn't know what was.
What club to choose was the next question and the only reasonable answer was that it had to be a club run by mutants for mutants. Spending time with humans did not have appeal. At all. And if she was testing her comfort zone tonight, those tests had their limits.
A few questions directed at a couple of the local mutants around home and she'd gotten the name of a club that seemed suitable. Mutant run (probably) and definitely mutant friendly, it was the place to be. Life on the streets hadn't exactly taught her fashion, but she now had the money for presentable clothing that fit and, when she showed her brand new fake id to the bouncer at the door, he ushered her in without a second question. She'd even taken the time to make sure sure none of her crystals were too visible; not that she was ashamed of them, but she was trying to look hr best. She didn't travel anywhere without her pets, but the only ones she kept could be stored safely within the confines of her side bag.
Upon first step into the club, the lights and the music felt overwhelming and she questioned why she had even decided to do this. Several long, deep breaths later and she calmed her unsteady nerves. She could do this. Not only could she do this but she could have fun in the process. The kind of fun that didn't involve scaring the crap out of those unfortunate enough to achieve her ire. Maybe even the kind of fun that involved meeting a pretty mutant girl.
Sitting down on a stool beside a young man and looking (and feeling) distinctly awkward and out of place, she ordered herself a pear cider. Maybe alcohol would help the whole experience. It certainly couldn't hurt. Judging by the words exchanged between him and a woman who sat down beside him, she wasn't the only one feeling a bit our of place or the only one hoping for a bit of liquid courage. She lifted a glass in their direction and offered a tentative smile of shared experience.
This sounds like fun. Shard would be willing to deal him some M. She's not exactly a regular M dealer but if her Syndicate boss's say that's what she's doing for now, then that's what she's going to do. She ranges from looking virtually human to being a very visible mutant depending on the day. She's also got a volatile temper and a taste for blood and mayhem.
Has that thread started while I've been away? I'd love to have a thread taking out a place in an M-Raid. Is that something I can still get involved in?
Once again back from a short absence. I'm going to try and post for a few of my (long overdue) threads over the next couple of days. This affects both Amber and Shard.
I offer either Shard or Amber for a thread. Shard has only recently come over from the AVverse and is kind of unstable and Amber is zombiesuar shifter living at the Mansion. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.
