The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

OOC: So sorry this took years, but I return!
>>"I like sharks. Most animals in general really, I think they're really interesting creatures."
Abby ducked her head again. While she liked being able to swim for a long time, she couldn't forget the shark that attacked her before. She shook her head at the memories and focused back on the blonde girl.
>>"Hey, you don't need to feel nervous. I don't bite."
She smiled a little before moving closer to the kind, older girl. "What are the classes like?" she asked tentatively.

Hey guys! So I'm coming back after a two year absence and am really wanting to get back in the swing of things. I've updated both Abby's and Sarah J's profiles for my absence. If anyone's interested in a reclusive human or little shark girl let me know!

Abby was making her way to the pool again. While the water felt uncomfortable to her skin with the cold weather, there were very few quiet places in the mansion. Finals were coming up causing many to find time for the library and study groups in rooms with open doors and hallways. The pool had been her quiet place during the cold months.
Entering the pool area, the small blonde made her way to one of the durable chairs. Sitting down Abby pulled out a new book her uncle had sent her. It was about sharks. Though a nice idea, it wasn't something the little shark mermaid wanted to read about. The only reason for it to be opened now was her impending trip home. Her uncle would ask about it; she was sure of that. Opening the book, Abbigail tried to get caught up in the facts it gave her.
Halfway through, Abby sighed and leaned back in the suddenly comfortable chair. No one would notice if she took a nap. She could finish the book later in the week. The little nine year old lightly dozed by the pool.

>>"Oh, I should tell you, I am an adapted. Do you know what that means?"
Abby shook her head as she listened to Gemma. She was really nice. She even explained things Abby didn't know! Only Mommy and Auntie did that!
>>"It means if you come too close to me, my powers can turn off your powers."
Abbigail's eyes got wide with shock. She hadn't been able to swim without a tail in forever! Would she remember how? Abby didn't think so. So she stayed where she was. She knew she could swim where she was.
>>"Do you want to tell me more about what you can do?"
Abby nodded excitedly. She didn't get to tell a lot of people what her gift was. Auntie said she could talk about it with her friends from school though.
Quickly, Abby started to tell the nice lady all she knew about her gifts. "I can swim really fast and I have really sharp teeth that sometimes hurt when I eat and I can breathe under water, but only for a few hours. After that it hurts my head. Oh! I can smell really good when I'm swimming! I smelled a lot of things when I was swimming at Auntie's work. And I know when someone else moves in the water cause that's something sharks can do, Auntie says," her words were rushed in one breath, helped by her gills. When finished Abbigail took a big gulp of air through her mouth.

Abby smiled shyly at Serena's reassurance about friend making. Abby wasn't sure if she was right but it was nice to hear. The little blonde hadn't ever had a good time making friends.
>>"That's a pretty tail you've got there by the way, if you don't mind me saying."
Abby ducked her mouth under the water. "Th-thank you," she stuttered after raising her mouth enough to speak. "Auntie s-says it's su-sup, a ti-tiger sh-shark tail."

>>"Hi. They told me there was a shark in the pool. I am guessing that would be you..."
Abby ducked her head further under the water at the accusation, even though true. She kept her eyes above water as she watched the adult. She seemed nice but that didn't always mean people were. Even if she was allowed into the school.
>>"My name is Gemma. And yours?"
Abby tried to say her name but all that happened was a bunch of bubbles. Sheepishly the little blonde pulled her head out of the pool.
"I'm Abbigail Clark," she told the woman. "I didn't mean to... to scare the boy. He- he left before I could do any-anything. Am I... in trouble?"

"I'm Abb-Abbigail Clark. It's nice to meet yo-you too. Um, I was, uh, wondering if I'd, if I would make any fri-friends. I haven't met a lot of people," Abby explained softly.
Abby could count the number of people she had met since arriving at the school on her hands. They weren't many. She didn't even have a roommate. Though she had spent some time with other people. She hadn't really made any friends.
She moved her body around to help keep her neck submerged as she spoke with Serena. The other girl seemed nice enough. And she hadn't commented on Abby's gift. Though she was a good distance from the older girl.

Abby sunk to the bottom of the pool after the boy ran out. She had thought it would be someone she knew, though they were few several of her new friends had found her in the pool. Instead it was boy who had spotted her swimming at the bottom. When he had seen her, he fled screaming for his "Mama".
She wasn't sure how to handle the situation. She had never had people be scared of her. The old fisherman who saw her the first time told her it was possible but none of them were scared. Her Aunt and Uncle weren't scared of her. Her Aunt Teresa actually brought her to the school in the first place. The few friends she has haven't been scared either.
As she swam in circles in the deep end of the pool, the little nine year old thought hard about the new situation. How was this boy any different? Did he have a fear of water?
Abby shook her head at the thought. He had been in swim trunks so that wasn't it. Had he watched too many movies? That was possible. A lot of movies made it seem like sharks were killers. Abby herself had thought that too. Especially after the attack that caused her gifts to appear.
As Abby came to believe this new idea, she sensed some sort of disturbance on the water's surface. Popping her head up out of the water, she called out. "Hello?" she asked quietly.

Abby smiled at hearing both the cry from the boy and that Liz was up for her idea. Nodding quickly to the question, Abbigail started searching the backpack for a good sized sheet of paper, though weak enough to shatter easily. She couldn't find any that looked like a good large size, but she did find a small packet of notepads.
"How about a bunch of small ones instead?" Abby asked even as she started to shape the paper.
She folded the paper diagonally before undoing the fold and using the other corners. Then she did a "hot dog" fold before undoing and then again redoing the fold the other direction. Before continuing she flattened the paper to become a triangle. Once the first paper was in that stage she moved on to the other papers, keeping her mind on one step to keep things organized. Eventually she had a line of little paper "hats".
She continued with her steps. Folding the corners to touch the tops. Folding more corners to reach the center lines. Tucking flaps to close the balloon. Blowing to expand the balloons. She was left with a line of colorful balloons. Now all she needed was the glitter.
Abby paused before she reached the backpack. Beside her were several airplanes the boys had thrown at them. She smiled before picking up the five discarded planes. She went up to the "front line". Standing up quickly she threw the in rapid succession. She watched one hit a boy in the cheek before ducking back down.
"Where's the glitter?" Abby asked after looking around their fortress.

Abby listened to the older girl as she took aim through the gaps of both fortresses. With surprising ease her paperclip ammo made it through to the boys. Their shouts of shock were music to her ears.
"Bloody Capulets!" one of the boys shouted at them. Abby just giggled.
"What about a balloon? If not an actual one, maybe an origami? We could poke enough holes in it to make it explode when it hits. Though I'm not sure if it'd work properly," she suggested as she took aim again.
She could see the boys trying to block the larger holes of their fort. Abby smiled wickedly when she noticed several spots slipping their notice. These were the spots she aimed for.
Another shout followed before she saw several airplanes and paper balls headed their way. "Incoming," she warned Liz.
