The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Abby jumped as someone greeted her. Turning quickly she saw one of the women she knew had helped defend the school.
"Hello. I think one of my preschool teachers taught it," Abby shrugged, keeping her eye on the woman. Abby paused at the question of cleaning supplies and the little information on her mutation. Abby was almost certain she had seen the woman during the footage of the fight.
The sudden shadow crossing the door caught Abby's eye. Turning, she gazed to find Ms. Durchdenwald answering the woman's question.
"Morning, Ms Durch. I'll keep an eye out. But..." Abby paused, looking towards the rather messy front with the teacher's desk. "Why do you leave it here?" Abby wondered.

Abby sighed as she looked in the classroom. It wasn't one of the more damaged places, but there was still debris along the outer wall. Lifting her mop and small metal pail, the blonde went towards the puddles she could spot. She would pick up any obvious things that needed thrown out but as she didn't spend much time in this room, she would leave most things to the adults.
She still wasn't quite sure how the water was still there, but she knew it needed cleaned. She was too small to help with the larger bits of reconstruction. And she knew most of the focus wasn't on the classrooms yet. Living areas were priority after all. Putting her mop to work, Abby started to think about the email she had gotten from her Aunt. The fight was on the news and her aunt was worried about her.
But Abby hadn't talked to her Aunt and Uncle since before she was de-aged. She had actually thought they abandoned her until the adults at the school were able to prove everything to her. It still felt a bit like they left her though. Her therapist said that was normal though.
"Clean up, clean up," Abby started singing. "Every~body, every~where."
Should she tell her Aunt and Uncle she was young again? They hadn't reached out until now that Abby was aware of. Though maybe the adults had told them. She still wasn't quite sure how the legal things worked with de-aging. The adults told her not to worry about it.

Abby listened as Miss Lenna gave her some options. The first... Abby didn't want to do the first. What if she was right? What if her Aunt and Uncle did leave her, abandon her, in an unfamiliar city?
The second... A Mansion? How can a school be a place for mutants? She knows mutants go to school but how can there be a school just for people like them? It sounds... too good to be true.
"...Three, we talk more. Tell me, what year is it for you?”
"Twenty-Twelve," Abby answered easily. There were talks about it being the end of the world because of an old calendar. She clearly remembered a conversation just a few days ago where her Aunt found the phen-om-in-non amusing. "How would a Mansion help?"

On one hand, Abby felt pretty let down that Miss Lenna couldn't (or wouldn't, she still wasn't sure) prove she was a mutant. (Abby wasn't sure if she believed the woman when she said she was a mutant either though so...) The idea that she might have be older and was attacked and turned in to a kid again was... well Abby wasn't sure what she thought about it.
It was a better thought than her Aunt and Uncle abandoning her in some random city. But was it true or was Miss Lenna just being nice? It also explained the weirdly large dress she was wearing. But...
”Your clothes do not fit. When I first was deaged, my clothes did not fit. Tell me, do you remember the last day?”
"School was over. I took a bath," Abby paused. "Showers hurt. Aunt Theresa knocked on the door. I was taking longer than normal. I had tried to make friends at school but they kept teasing me about my legs." Abby stopped as she felt more tears forming. She took several deep breathes. "Then I woke up here."

”Ah. I see what you are trying to elucidate. You think because you are a mutant, you are bad. This opinion is profoundly wrong. You cannot be bad, simply because you are a certain way. Though some people always like to think you can... dullards.”
Abby blinked at the woman, allowing her hands to fall to her lap. "What's Ee-lou-ceh-date?" she asked. She thought she knew from the rest of her words but didn't want to be wrong.
Abby wouldn't admit to the circles her brain was swimming in while she tried to accept Miss Lenna's words. But how was she supposed to when her own family left her?
"I am a mutant too."
Abby blinked at Miss Lenna. Was she saying that to help Abby feel better? Or was it true? She couldn't see anything different about the woman. Then again, she knew not all mutants were obvious.
"Prove it." Abby froze at her own voice. She couldn't take back her words. Didn't want to either. But she did remember that adults rarely like to be asked to 'prove' something to children.

Abby sucked in a breath as Miss Lenna finished her sentence for her. While not the words she had planned on using... They weren't wrong either. Abby couldn't decide if she should agree or disagree.
”Tell me your tale. I will listen.”
Abby froze again. It took several deep breaths for her to respond in any way. Finally she lifted part of the dress to show the woman her legs. "I'm bad," she whispered.
Abby blinked as the dress caught on her legs. Glancing down, she spotted scales instead of just... gray skin. Did she... change? How? When? Abby's breathing picked up again as she panicked. Would she one day. Become an actual shrak.

Abby startled at the sound of a crash. Flinching back, she tried to make herself as small as possible. Maybe whoever it was wouldn't see her. She could hear voices but she didn't try to understand them. She just focused on being invisible.
Someone walked away, her odd locating ability picking it up from the humidity. Then the other walked towards her. Abby curled herself tighter. The odd dress may cover her legs, but she feared being outed. That's what got her here after all. With each step Abby's breathing increased until she could feel more tears forming. Then they stopped.
”Hello. I am sorry for that. He stole my purse.”
Abby peeked at the woman, no more than a quick glance. Strangers weren't safe. Her Aunt always said-
”My name is Lenna.”
Aunt Theresa wasn't here. No one was here. No one but this lady. Lenna.
"'M Abby," she offered quietly. Maybe Miss Lenna could-
Abby stopped her thoughts. If her own family hated her for being a mutant, why would some stranger help her? Abby's breathing hitched as tears escaped her eyes.
She should just get it over with. Tell this kind person so they could leave. "I'm a-" The words caught in her throat.

Abby had walked this road plenty of times before. She never expected to be drugged near one of her favorite restaurants. She didn't even have time to react before her world went dark.
Abby blinked as she woke. The last thing she remembered... her aunt knocking on the bathroom door while she bathed. Jerking to a seated position, Abby glanced down at her odd clothes. An oversized grey dress with a large purple ribbon at the waist. It wasn't something she had ever seen before.
"What happened?" she wondered aloud.
Getting to her feet, Abby tried to figure out where she was. A city. Loud. With lots of people. People who didn't pay the small child any attention. The air was heavy with salty humidity so she knew she close to the ocean. Had her aunt spotted her tail? Did they abandon her?
Abby felt tears fall down her face as she realized her family had left her somewhere without anything. Abby crouched down and covered her face as she cried. How was a eight-year-old going to survive alone?

"Cafas is... He takes care of me, but I think my Uncle still has custody of me. Maybe." That would probably be something to ask Maya or Cafas. It seemed like something she should know. Though it was doubtful Aunt Teresa would allow her to be adopted by Cafas legally.
The pool! "I love the pool. It's big enough for me to swim laps." Which wasn't as easy as it sounded since her tail gave her extra length. And sharks rarely grew bigger than the area they lived in. "I usually go when it's empty. At least I used to. I could probably go with others now. They shouldn't freak out anymore." She didn't think so at least. She was pretty well known now, having been here for years.
The blonde giggled as Allegra explained what her friends had gotten in trouble for. "The most trouble I've been in is I forgot to tell Cafas I was spending the night at a friends," she giggled.
"I only wish the beaches were cleaner. I hate having to swim in dirty water." And the water around New York was rather dirty. She hadn't gone swimming in the ocean in years. Abby was pretty sure a few years would not change the water's cleanliness a lot.
She was glad Allegra wouldn't make her go shopping. It was nice not to worry about that. The older girls had kinda forced her to dress up in the beginning. Now she rather liked trying new styles and clothes. So long as people weren't staring.
"The Danger Room is mostly like a gym, yeah. It just has a really cool holographic system which lets you create anything in there. I heard sometimes it gets used for things like dates. Though I think that was for adults. On its own it just looks like a giant room so yeah, kinda gym like." It was really hard to explain now that she thought about it. Abby didn't actually know how it all worked. Something to ask Cafas or Sam later.
Abby frowned at Allegra's question on Mama T. "I don't think so. It's temporary. I think she just... puts our mutations asleep." Maybe. That's what happened to Astrid. She couldn't feel her wings anymore. Though Abby still wasn't sure about it. "I can show you her office if you'd like. So you can ask more questions. I don't know a whole lot."
Small? Most of the rooms had to fit two people. So... "You might have one of the single rooms. Does it only have the one bed?" Well, no that wasn't a good indicator either. Adder's room only had the one bed and he had a roommate. But still... "How much stuff did you bring?" The rooms had always been big enough for her things. But maybe Abby didn't have as much stuff.

Abby nodded as Alice described her sister. "That sounds like Serena. I don't think I ever learned her last name." Or at least, she couldn't remember knowing it. "I know she helps DocProf out sometimes." The teen was pretty sure her Serena had a blood based mutation, but she wasn't 100% sure on that.
Abby smiled as Alice seemed to take her word for the school. "It's not always great, but I think that's normal," she giggled. Though she didn't know about the cute thing. She decided to ignore it. She was kinda small for her age so...
"Are they any good?" she asked. She had never actually seen those types of bars before. "If you're hungry we can make something? I know the kitchen pretty well." Having used the kitchen for so many meals, she really did know where everything was.

Abby giggled a little at Alice's comment about the boys. She personally thought they were silly to try to get something like that past the teachers. The blonde had learned to only pull out her books when she was done with her work, or the teachers said she could.
She was beginning to figure out the fighting game the device held. She didn't typically like violence, but it was kind of fun figuring out how to get the character to attack or defend. Or jump attack. That was really hard for her fingers to do.
"I know Serena!" she beamed. Though it did end up with her loosing track of the game and cause her character to be hit and die. "Aw. I died." She frowned and restarted the match before continuing. "I met Serena when I first came here. She's really nice. She started my self-defense lessons. Then pointed me to Sam to keep them going. At least, if your sister Serena is the Serena I know." Abby knew that there were often people with the same names going through around the same time. There were two "Jack"s she knew of after all.
>>"Do you like it here, at the mansion I mean?"
"I do! I've made lots of friends since I came here. And I have a family again," she then remembered the last time she tried to explain her family. "My parents died a long time ago. But I have Papa and Maya and Adder now. My aunt isn't too happy about it, but my uncle is happy for me!"
She died again. It was her own fault since she wasn't paying attention. "You really have to focus on this," she commented. "I consider this home now," she admitted, turning from the game. "I haven't been back to my Aunt's house since... two summers ago? Maybe. I can't really remember. But I prefer being here to anywhere else. I don't get stared as much for my teeth and skin. It's nice to belong somewhere."

Oh. Right. Most people don't call unrelated people their parents. "Sorta? If Aunt Teresa let him, I think Cafas would adopt me. He's my Papa. He lives here too. He's one of the team."
Abby did nod as Allegra explained the type thing. Yeah. She could remember the 'why is it me' and 'how could this happen' thoughts from years ago. Though she had quite a few more years experience than the older girl. Seeing as she was really young when her mutation came out.
Well...She had to give Allegra that. Mutants could be rather dangerous. "Yeah, but regular people can be just as bad. Like Odessa." That had been really scary to find out about.
"Before New York I grew up in Florida. My daddy liked to sail," she offered in return. "I don't usually swim outside the school. People can get scary when they're scared. And people generally fear sharks so," she shrugged. The last time she had shifted in public had ended up with her needing to be saved. And that was just a fountain.
The Australia trip still made her giggle. "I don't know how it all happened. I just know some kids stole the plan, went to Australia, and got in trouble. Cafas told me about it after it happened.
"Ruddy's trips are kinda... silly. But sometimes the places he goes are really cool. I'm waiting for him to announce a trip to Spain. I really wanna go. We had one to Hawaii before. I got to go swimming there. It was fun."
Her face scrunched up at the thought of going shopping. But if she was gonna make friends... "So long as lots of people don't have to see me," she offered. "I don't like people staring at me."
"I've had some self-defense lessons in the DR. It's not really bad. Do you know who's gonna be going with you? I might know them. I know Sam does the defense lessons. Julliette is a nurse and helps with health classes. Mama T probably won't. She can stop our powers. Hmmm. Papa might, but I don't think so. Maya is really nice too.
"Do you already know where your room is?" she asked. Sometimes adults would look for them there instead of the public areas. Or there would be an announcement.
Abby couldn't stop herself from looking over the device in her hand. It reminded her of the things Panu had in his room. Though probably not as... techy as what he had.
"These look like the ones the boys hide in class and the library," the blonde giggled. She grinned at Alice. "They always get in trouble though."
Finding the power button, she started whatever game the older girl had inside. "So, uh, your sister's here too?" The shifter resisted the urge to cringe at her conversation attempt. She wasn't so good at it.

Is she close to Aunt Teresa? Maybe. Though not as close as she is with her uncle.
"Sometimes she'll visit. I'm closer to my uncle. He's not mad I have a Papa again," Abby tried to explain.
Abby frowned as Allegra talked about mutants and types. "There's not really a type that are mutants. I've met people of all types and ages. Miss Gina looks like a gargoyle but she's one of the nicest people I've ever met. She does some of the movie nights. I know people who are mean and people who act mean." Miss Isabel (if you weren't a mutants) and Astrid, respectively. "There's more bad press than good honestly." Cafas and the Rally had taught her that.
"I don't know about singing, but I'll play for you. Sure."
Mutation talk was probably one of the most common topics Abby had found in the school. She didn't mind it as much as she used to. The shifter could remember a time when she hated when conversations took this turn.
"My legs only hurt when I shift, but Doc says that's 'cause the scales are growing really quick to cover my tail. He thinks that once my growth is done and my legs are scaly I won't have as much or any pain. I still have some though, when people touch me. But that's because of a difference in senses between people and sharks.
"At this point, looking 'normal' would make it more painful to shift. And since I actually like swimming, probably not a good idea. Most of my abilities are instinct. I know what I'm doing without thinking. So I've never really had to train my powers. I know a few who have powers like that though." The young girl winced as Allegra started to worry and fret. "Growths are really dependent on your power. Mine is pretty tied to my appearance since I'm a shifter, you know? You might not have this kind of growth to deal with."
She giggled as her new friend mentioned Ruddy's field trip. "Ruddy does the weird ones. Mostly. A lot of the teachers try not to go too far from the school. But it really depends. I heard about some students who stole the plane and went to Australia before." Abby smiled a little weakly as shopping was re-mentioned. While she liked dressing up, shopping for the clothes wasn't as fun for her. She blamed Astrid. "I'm not sure when the next one is. I know the girls usually put up a notice in our hallway though. So you'll see those before that weekend. I'm not a big fan of shopping, but I like trying new outfits." Best to be honest with her new friend.
Danger Room probably was misleading. Even she had gotten caught in that. But it could be dangerous. Seeing Cafas come out from training made that obvious. "The Danger Room is mostly used for training. If your power need work to help you control and use it, teachers will take you there to help. It's not really bad. Danger only happens if someone who doesn't know what they're doing try something. I know there are some simulations the team uses for practice."
