Abby tries to keep her legs covered at all times, hoping no one would notice her strange skin color. Abby has begun to feel more confident about her visible mutations, allowing her to not be as self conscious as before. If she meets some stranger,
Abby is very shy and gives only the needed vocal responses. Abby has gotten more outgoing as she gains friends and is no longer as shy around strangers. She will keep a lot of things close to her chest but she does talk openly. Most of the time she lets her body movements talk for her.

MutationsMutation description: Shark-maid (Shark Tail Shift)
When submerged in water, her legs will be covered in small placoid scales, the scales of a shark or ray. The tail is dark gray in color. There are spots and stripes on her tail, signaling her as an adolescent. Small dorsal and anal fins grow out of the scales to help with swimming while her scales cover her feet completely, adding three extra feet to her body. Some of the extra length is made up of her caudal fin. The skin under her chin lengthens and hardens to cover newly formed gills.
Abbigail's bone structure strengthens to make sure her underwater movements go as needed. As the scales come out of
the small spaces between her regular leg scales, the transformation is a painful process. Her gill formation is also painful as they grow out of her trachea and emerge from the harden skin. The complete shift takes about three minutes for Abby to be able to think past the pain. Once her gills leave the oxygenated water,
the scale flake off leaving large patches of scales behind until her legs are free of the extra scales.
Strengths:- Great swimmer
- Can breathe under water
- Can "see" in the dark with her lateral line this occurs only in water due to the nature of the lateral line
- Has a really good sense of smell when shifted
Weaknesses and Limitations:- Can only shift when in water
- Shift only lasts as long as her gills are completely submerged (several inches of oxygen-rich water off of the surface of the skin)
- Her body is sensitive to touch due to her lateral line picking up the vibrations across her skin
- Staying in her shifted form for more than four hours has negative effects
- Shifting between forms is painful, such that it takes a few minutes for Abby to think straight
Power Growth(s): Armor Scales (03/02/2017)
The discoloration of Abby's legs is just the beginning of a facet of her mutation. The discolored skin is changing into the
placoid scales of sharks and rays. These scales will add a natural armor to Abby's body. Instead of her skin growing to cover her tail, more scales will
grow rapidly to cover her mutation. When she looses her tail, the extra scales will flake off. Though the scales help streamline her body in water, on land her scales add weight to her body.
Strength:
- Natural Armor on lower body
Weakness:
- Adds ~20lbs to Abby's total body weight
Fighting StyleExplanation: Bite or Run
Abbigail doesn't know how to fight other than her shark instincts. When threatened she will either run or bite her attacker. Abbigail has taken a few lessons on how to defend herself. She still mostly relies on her instincts, but now she's less likely to hurt herself throwing a punch. She'd still rather run than fight though.
Pros for fighting style: Running is easy for her to do since she's a very fast runner. Her teeth are sharp and can rip the skin and muscle from the bone if enough force is used.
Cons for fighting style: She's small and young, thus inexperienced
even with a few lessons under her belt.
Faction AllegianceX-men/ Order/ Ragnarok/ Haven/ NYPD/
Unaffiliated
though she does have ties to X-Men, Order, and Ragnarok. Some very loose ties to NYPD and (the long dead) Kabal tooHistory Of Your CharacterAbbigail grew up in a normal home with a mother and father until she was six. Before her sixth birthday, she was given the love of her family and never wanted for anything. Her mother stayed home to take care of her while her father ran a very popular real estate business. Abby knew only a little about mutants and the on-goings of the world.
On her sixth birthday, the Clark family took a boat out to take a small three day vacation. The first day was filled with laughter and fun for Abby. However, a storm was brewing. In the middle of the night, the thunderstorm hit the family's boat. Abbigail and her mother were tossed from the boat as her father hit his head on the railing. The two females watched as the boat was hit by a large wave and turned over.
As the storm ended, it became apparent that Mrs. Clark was bleeding deeply. As a last resort, Mrs. Clark told her daughter
"Whatever happens, you have to keep your head above the water. Help will come." With those last words, the older woman let go of the lifesaver they clung to. Abbigail watched as her mother drown next to her.
Hours after her mother's death, Abbigail noticed something swimming around her. As the swimming object got closer she saw that it was a migrating shark. The shark had sensed the blood from her mother and had come to catch its prey. As Abby tried to find a way to stay away from the terrifying creature, it struck. Some of the blood clinging to Abby was causing the shark to attack her.
On reflex, Abby let go of the lifesaver and covered her head as she sunk into the water. The shark's teeth missed any vital organs, but cut into her left arm. As blood poured from her, Abbigail felt her body change. She felt a pain in her legs and around her neck. Thinking that she was dying, she let her body simply float. After several minutes of floating, she noticed that she could breathe. Taking a look at her body, she discovered her mutation. The shark that had previously attacked her was watching her as it circled around.
Abbigail felt her body react to the sea beast and felt a rush of water pass by her as a burst of speed got her away from the shark. Abbigail kept swimming on instinct as she hoped to find another boat or even land. After two hours of swimming, she spotted a fishing boat she recognized. When she broke the surface, her elbows down were under the water. This change caused her body to react, causing more pain and the disappearance of her gills and tail.
One of the fishermen she knew spotted her in the water and called for help. The team of seven helped get the injured girl on board. Once there, she was patched up and dried as she told them her tale. One of the more spiritual fishermen took one of the shark teeth that somehow broke off in her skin and created a necklace for her. The men ignored her comments about her new abilities, choosing instead to get her home safe, thinking she was delusional from watching her parents die.
Once on land, the news, police, paramedics, and several other important people Abby didn't care about fussed around her. Days after the accident, her uncle on her father's side of the family came to take her to his home in Albany, New York. Abby left her home in Miami and started to create a new life in Albany. Her uncle and aunt kept her home-schooled to try to help with the trauma, but nothing seemed to help. Abbigail, on request from one of her fishermen saviors, kept her new ability a secret and was careful when she bathed. Her aunt and uncle simply thought her "fear of water" was just a part of her trauma.
Close to her tenth birthday, Abby decided to tell her aunt about her gifts. As she told her story, her aunt's face showed an array of emotions from shock and fear to pity and love. Once her tale was once again told in full, her aunt simply said,
"Well, that explains the teeth, skin color, and the water issues." Then the search for a good place for Abby to be came into being.
That place ended up being a school in New York. Abbigail had spent two years getting to know the school. She hadn't made many friends, but she was friendly with many of the other students. She kept mostly to herself, due to her fear of being touched.
Since early 2016, Abby has begun to make true friendships with the new people she's met. From the familial relationships with Cafas, Maya and Adder to the long running friendships with Panu, Serena and Sam, she has begun to open herself and has been rewarded with these relationships.
After making friends with fellow mutants, Abby took part in the Mutant Peace Rally where she became somewhat known for her actions and words. She is much more confident about her status as a mutant and believes there can be true peace between the different parties. Though still working on her education (she's only thirteen after all), Abbigail has big dreams and plans for her future.
While still keeping her outgoing personality, 2018 has Abby grown fond of the color of her lower body. To showcase it, she often wears skirts that show her developing scales. The most drastic changes are in her appearance. Most everything else about her is the same.
RoleplayWhere did you learn about this site?: Google
Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Sarah JSample RP:Abby wasn't sure why she agreed to go to her Aunt's work that day. Okay, that wasn't true. The idea that she could freely get her head under water was very appealing. The young girl hadn't felt her body covered in water since the day
it happened. When they arrived at the abandoned camp grounds, where Aunt Teresa did something with phones that Abby didn't understand, the air was cool and several adults were moving around doing their jobs.
"They'll be gone by the time we've eaten lunch, so just hold on, 'kay?"Abbigail had nodded and resigned herself to spending the morning next to her Aunt. About an hour in, the blonde was bored with the paperclips she had been playing with. Aunt Teresa had told her she wouldn't need to bring anything with her, but she wished she had packed a book. Now her mind was trying to figure out how Alexa Daley would stop the evil Sebastian in the new book Uncle Henry had bought her.
"The Dark Hills Divide" was the name of the first book. Abby found the idea that a girl, only a few years older, could talk to animals.
Abby had just started trying to figure out the identity of Sebastian when Aunt Teresa brought her back to reality. It was time for lunch. Abbigail smiled wide when her Aunt informed her that most of the other workers had left and as soon as they were sure the area was clear, the young girl could go for a dip in the medium-sized pond.
