The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Abby lowered her eyes as she thought about how her mutation came out. While she was proud of her mutation now, she still felt some guilt to how it came to be. She often wondered if her parents would still be alive if she hadn't wanted to go sailing for her birthday.
"I've been a mutant for over half my life now. My Aunt helped me find this place after I told her."
She hums a little as Allegra starts talking about the teachers. "Mr. Turner is nice. He lets you use the stoves and ovens if you want to bake secret birthday cakes." Something Abby had done once. "I don't have art so I don't know how Mr. Holloway is in class. I know lots of girls like him though. I take music instead of art. I play piano."
The blonde blinked at the offer(?) of plastic surgeons. What? Taking a look at her legs, she noticed her flaking scales were showing. "I'm fine. It's a 'growth of mutation due to changes caused by puberty.' Or something like that. I think I'll end up with scales like I have shifted, just all the time. It'll probably mean less pain when I shift so it seems like a good idea once it's done."
>>"So, what is there to do for fun around here? Other than decorating robots, of course."
"Well there's the library, the maze and the pool. Sometimes we have movie nights or the guys will have gaming tournaments. The staff puts together field trips pretty often too. I know some girls go shopping every other weekend. Older kids can use the Danger Room, with permission, to work on their powers. That kind of stuff I guess."

Abby smiled at Chase as she looked back at the movies. "I like most movies. Just not scary ones," she admitted. "Or bloody ones." Shifting through all the movies, she tried to find one that looked interesting.
>>"So Abby sweetie, is Chase a friend of yours?"
The blonde girl beamed at her Papa. "Yup! Chase an' I have been friends since I got here. I met him the first day. We played legos." She glanced back over the movies. Papa's was the only one that really looked interesting. "Can we watch your movie, Papa?"

Abby smiled at the new girl's answer to her question. Good. They hadn't met before. Though the blonde might know her sister, since there was some familiarity. She moved her legs out of the way for the older girl to sit on the couch. It would be rude otherwise.
"I've been here a few years now," she said in response. Hopefully explaining why she asked.
>>"My names Alice, by the way. What's yours?"
"I'm Abby," she replied as Alice took out game after game. "Wow. I think some of the boys will be jealous of you. I don't think I've seen half of these. What are they?" she asked, picking one up she had never seen before.
Granted her exposure was through the boys of the school who played in the living room. She knew the Gamestation ones since that was what the boys played usually. But these were new.

This summer was going much better than last summer. This year she wasn't worried about her grades and she could spend time with her friends all she wanted. Well, so long as she told Papa and/or Maya. She had even been able to start reading Warriors again! She had a bit of catching up to do, so she was rereading from the beginning.
So deep in her books, Abby jumped as someone came into the living room. A girl. With blue hair. Who was asking her something? Abby had heard the girl said something about games and now she was saying something about headphones? Video games? Like the boys usually play in here?
"Um, you can go ahead a set up here. It's where everyone usually plays. Here or the on at the computers. You don't have to use headphones either." She didn't think she knew this blue haired girl. Though there was something familiar about her. But the shifter was pretty sure she'd remember meeting a person with blue hair. "Uh, sorry to ask, but are you new?"

"Yeah. Fo-ur years? I think."
Then Allegra was asking lots of questions. Lots. The shifter tried to keep track but it was kind of hard. "It's okay to be nervous. Most people are nice here. The teachers are really nice and they help us even during weekends and summer if we need it." Abby tried to remember what a clique was. It sounded a little like she meant the groups. "I'm not sure about cliques. We all kinda hang out together. There aren't a whole lot of places here at the school to really hang out. You'll probably like Art if you go." Most of the girls their age really liked going to the art class.
"The worst thing I've had happen is be mistaken for a shark when I was swimming. But that was when I first got here and no one knew me. And I kinda do look like a shark when I'm in the water." Abby held out her leg, showing Allegra gray skin she had. "I'm a sharkmaid," she giggled.
She giggled more when DJ shifted to let her see his new glasses straight on. "Very nice. You'll have all sorts of ladies following you," she giggled. It was a on-going joke that DJ got more ladies then Ruddy. The little Roomba took off before she could say anything else. Abby kept laughing as he did circles around the room. "Silly DJ. I think he's done staying still. Are there any questions about the school I might be able to answer for you?"

She didn't typically pay attention to the weather. The ocean and it's inhabitants usually kept her pretty up to date with the happenings. She knew if a big wave was coming or if it was going to get colder from experience watching her fellow sea dwellers. She usually swam away from the cold when it came near wherever she was.
Which is why the mermaid was shocked when something she had only vague memories of happened.
She was still near humans but she also couldn't stop herself from investigating. She had never seen the sky shed before. She'd seen the sky cry and rumble and shine. But never shed. And that's what it looked like as small white flakes floated down. Sticking the top of her head out of the water, the blonde watched as the flakes met the warm waters she swam in. And then the flakes were gone.

"How long have you been here, Emily?" Abby asked as she accepted the offered hand. Taking a look at the directions open to them, the blonde pulled the older girl towards the right path.
So the hunt for a job is still on the rise but I'm now more likely be having internet access. So Sarah and Abby are back in action after... a month absence? Huh not as long as it feels. If I disappear again it's probably because I got a job

Abby was looking at her design. The spiral was pretty much done around DJ's station. There was about an inch and a half that she left empty. Time to figure out what to do with the pipe cleaners.
>>"Hi there."
The blonde jumped and looked over to the door. She hadn't been paying attention and now there was a new person in the room. She didn't look familiar either.
The following introduction and explanation from the (probably) older girl. Huh. She smiled big when the girl, Allegra, professed a love for the music.
"So, what are you working on? It looks like fun."
"I'm Abby. I've been here for a few years now. And I'm decorating DJ. We're both bored so..." Looking down at the supplies, she wondered if the other girl would think she was being childish. Probably. But Abby was used to being seen as younger than she was. She was pretty small for her age. "I'm trying to figure out what to do with these pipe cleaners. Any ideas?" she asked, holding up a green and white fuzzy bendable stick.
April was a wet month. A very wet month. While Abby like the rain, this much this often was something else. She had already completed all her homework and read several books for fun. She had played a bit on the piano too. Now she was doing something completely new.
It hadn't been hard to locate DJ. Nor was it hard to convince DJ to stay still long enough for her to do her work. The task itself though?
That was a bit harder.
She had swiped some supplies from the art room and was now sitting on the living room floor with glue, plastic gems, sequins, and some pipe cleaners arranged around her and DJ Roomba. The little bot was apparently as bored as she was because he had helped her bring all the supplies to the room and he seemed to be setting up his own small patterns for his knives. He was also playing some of her favorite songs from his speakers. That made her sure he was okay with the project.
She idly wondered what the little bot did regularly that had him so bored now that he agreed to this.
Though it really didn't matter now that they had started.
Holding the bright pink gem with two fingers, Abby patiently waited for DJ to stop moving long enough for her to stick it to him. She was trying for a spiral pattern that had colors to represent all the X-Men. The pink was for Papa.
She had light blue for Sam. Red for Serena. Yellow for Juliette. Purple with Missus Taylor. Pink for Cafas. The white ones were for Momma. The sequins was for Maya/Gawain. She was still figuring out the other colors and what the pipe cleaners would be for.

"There you go, dear," Doc soothed as Victoria moved out from under the bed. As the resident doctor, he knew the medical records of all the students, so he knew who this young blonde was.
As he activated his power, initiating the golden glow, Abby sat down next to the injured girl. A weak smile that probably looked more like a grimace was all the shifter could respond with to the soft smile she was given.
The glow of Doc's power disappeared and he began to heal the burns covering the girl. "Now my dear, I'm sure you already have an idea of what happened. But I'll explain what I saw happen chemically with your body. Now your body reacts to ultraviolet waves and causes your skin to burn...” Doc went on to explain other sources that would cause similar burns as well as theorized that a super sunblock might allow her to go about in daylight, though he wasn't sure. ”Now if anything like this happens again, please don't be afraid to seek me out. Even if you have to ask someone to find me. Alright?”

Small noises above her had the mermaid looking around. She jerked back as someone let their feet hand over the dock. Startled, she sunk down into the water.
Humans.
If they knew she was here...
She turned away from the submerged feet to think. What to do? Should she try to get to open water? Or wait? While thinking about her options, she never noticed her long, tangled hair floating ever closer to the person's feet.
It had been a few years since she had been in this area. That was what she was blaming for her swimming a bit too far. The garbage on the bottom of the bay was lower than she remembered. Looked like the humans started to clean up their trash. That was good. There weren't a whole lot of good fishing spots here. That was usually due to human trash.
But that wasn't her problem right now. Instead of taking a quick look to see what the humans had done, the mermaid had ended up too far in for too long a time. It was low surf now. Most of the boats weren't more than a arm-span from the bottom. Not enough room for her to feel safe trying to get back to open water. So she was swimming around the poles holding up a platform. (dock)
She had eaten before adventuring into the bay so she wasn't worried about hunger. It was really just a feeling of being trapped. If she stayed too long someone might spot her. She wouldn't be welcomed. She wasn't human after all. She was a creature of the sea. A mermaid.
Oh she had seen other non-humans in her travels. Some with wings. Some with tails. Some with scales even. But she hadn't seen any without legs. And that's what she was: a legless not-human. Her scales helped her hide in the dark depths but compared to the most often pale color of humans? (skin, her mind pulled from lessons slowly being forgotten, they call it skin)
She had it too. The skin. On her arms and head, mostly. But she had seen humans be cruel to those not-humans often enough to know that little bit wouldn't matter. She was different. And humans feared the different. She was safe in the water where she could live in peace. And she knew what to avoid so as not to get caught. She had seen hunters before. Been enticed by the easy food they leave. Seen them lift a fellow sea creature from the waters before putting them back.
Humans wouldn't put her back. She knew without a doubt they wouldn't put her back. They would keep her. Put her in a tank and ask her to do tricks just to eat. She could recall seeing shows like that Before. Could remember the food the humans gave as treats for doing their tasks. She hurt for those stuck with that life. But she wouldn't risk it for herself.
She stopped her circling and slowly swam to the surface. Maybe just a peek? She was under the platform after all. Humans couldn't see her. Poking her head out, the mermaid watched the boats in the bay. Some went to the islands. Some carried big boxes. She stayed there and watched the boats, feeling less trapped now that could see most of them.
The water was dark and filthy. Her senses weren't as good here. It got harder to tell where the boats were the further they were. And they moved far faster than she did. Best to stay put and wait for low surf to end. It would give her more wiggle room. Even if this dark, filthy water was hard to breathe in. All she had to do was wait it out. Then she would be safe in the deep waters of the ocean.
She kept this thought in mind as she watched the boats. The sun was at its highest now. The platform above her had a lot more activity. The shadows let her know there were plenty of humans up there. Full grown and children. Listening to the bits of talking she could hear made her think of half forgotten memories. From Before. Closing her eyes, she let the memories wash over her.
