The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Wow, that was subtle. Shade thought to himself as Abyss burst through the doors, turning them into a pile of sticks. The shadowy mutant had a bird's eye view of Abyss's destruction where he was, nestled in the rafters of the warehouse. He grimaced slightly as he watched the big red mutant easily snap the neck of a poor human.
Ouch! That's gotta hurt. Well, I guess it's time for me to join this party. Shade picked a spot slightly out of the way of Abyss's path of destruction, choosing a darken spot between two storage containers. Glancing out, the invisble mutant saw two keepers hurrying towards their death by the hands of a certain red mutant. Shade just couldn't help taking them.
The one furthest away suddenly fell to his knee when a black dagger tore into his knee from the invisble assassin. The remaining keeper only had time to turn and watch as Shade leapt from the shadows and burying another knife into his chest. At the sounds of his fellow keeper dying, the first one looked up only to have a foot crash across his face.
"Nighty, night, friend." Shade said while crouching over his victim, a sadistic smile dancing across his face. Straightening up, the hooded mutant began looking for his next target.
Shade had ignored the little conflict between the two members. His thoughts had in fact drifted to what he was going to do after the meeting. At the moment, he was a little short on cash. Why not go on a little robbery? Suddenly, Syn's words jerked him back to reality.
"Wait- no disrespect- but you honestly want to attack Fort Knox?" Shade asked. His usual smile was replaced by a look of utter disbelief. After a second where someone should have yelled out 'Gotcha' of 'JK', the evil smirk slowly kept back onto Shade's face.
Shade allowed his smirk to spread into a full smile as Syn began to speak of the coming doom of humans. Those pesky insects; the only thing they could do was slow the ineviable. The mutants were destined to rule the Earth and it was time they began to realize that.
As their leader finished the first part of her speech, Shade couldn't help expressing a small fist pump at the statement. However, when she continued, the shadowy mutant became even more interested. As Syn began to explain about the X-men, Shade slid his feet from the seat in front of him and leaned foreward slightly with interest.had only visited the mutant mansion once, several years back. It had been a place to run before Shade had had a place to go. He had felt the place was too friendly towards the humans. and now, he knew that for sure.
Then Syn explained the situation with the other organization. Obviously, they were separate, but at the moment, both wanted at least one thing: the removal of the X-men. Syn seemed to be rather timid towards trusting them, and Shade had first-hand knowledge of the 'kindness' they had to offer. His head still had a slight lump on it. And what had been his reward for all that, a simple map of the complex with little detail that would help them out.
Shaking off the disappointment, Shade again lended back into the pew. Syn had called for any other speakers. Shade wasn't going to blab his mouth, He'd let some other hotshot have that honor.
It was times like these that Shade wished he could teleport with the lights on. Here he was dangling in the grips of a rather pissed off girl. What could go wrong?
Shade hardly listened to Syn's sugar-coated words because her eyes told the shadow mutant all he needed to know. This wasn't a mistake he was going to make twice. Suddenly, a feeling of dread and dispair slowly seeped over Shade's body. It was a sense of horror and pain. Something, Shade only felt in his nightmares.
A cold sweat had broken across Shade's forehead as the scene of fires danced infront of the intruder's eyes. This time in managed to hear the tail end of the conversation: to never do this again. Then he quickly disentangled from the the clothes and outside before he knew it. The slam of the door seemed to break the trance.
"Woo!" Shade said, speaking to the empty hall. His mind tried to process what had just happened, however, his brain seemed to scared to recall the memory. Taking one wabbly step, Shade shook off the feeling before disappearing into the nearby darkness. Obviously, never piss off Syn.
Man, that was a waste. Shade thought as he made his way back to his room. He had decided to walk back as he wanted to make sure he knew where some stuff was at. Hearing the distant sound of music blaring, Shade decided to investigate. Stepping into a dark corner, the now invisible mutant reached out, searching for a patch of black somewhere near the music. Finding it, he smirked slightly as he teleported.
Shade had been guessing a small corner or shadow casting by a piece of furniture. Instead, he got a pitch black closet. Searching for the door, Shade turned to his left only to be tripped by an unseen object. He crashed through some things before being stopped by the wall. Taking a second to breath, Shade tried to manuever, but this time a fallen shirt attached itself to his leg causing him to trip again. This time Shade managed to smash into the closed door. A muffled groan could be heard before he finally found the handle and came tumbling out with a pile of clothes.
Shade had slid his hands behind his head as he waited for the important stuff, if there ever was going to be anything important. Mostly, it appeared just to be a nice get-together. Shade let out a frustrating sigh at the thought. Man, he hated these things.
When the large man from the labs (or one of them) appraoched him and offered his hand, Shade just gave a slight gesture with his head to acknowledge it. He then shifted his unseen eyes towards the wolf next to him. It hadn't stopped staring at him yet.
The first thing Shade's brain triggered was the amazing pain that throbbed in his head. The slowly, the memories of the night before filtered into his brain. Groaning, Shade slowly managed to stand as he tried to make his way across the room. His eyes were constantly trying to refocus and the pain continued to throb in his head.
Finally, he made his way to the door. Shade's hand felt something move. Pulling it off the door, the hooded mutant had to look over it several times before it finally got to his head. Well, crap! There went all his fun!
The fires roared with hunger as Shade's restless eyes danced behind their closed eyelides. Suddenly, a tiny buzz snapped him from his light sleep. Reaching for his phone, he casually glanced at the message before he closed his eyes.
The cool feeling of darkness was very common throughout the Sanctuary, but Shade managed to find the right shadow he wanted. Rather than using the comtemporary door, Shade 'jumped' to the shadow casted by a pillar in the cathedral. It might surprise several people, a man suddenly appearing from the shadows, but Shade always liked the effect.
Strolling from the side into one of the pews, Shade slid down until he was close enough not be bitten by the huge wolf that sat next to him. He gave a light salute to Syn before propping his feet up on the pew in front of him and relaxing back into the pew, that evil smirk set upon his face.
(OOC: I hope you don't mind me moving a couple of your guards.)
As the table cracked in half, Shade barely managed to avoid the thunderous blow before tiny devils smashed through the rubble. The quick little attackers moved like twins. As Shade ducked under one strike, the other smashed his baton into his forehead, cutting it open. Retreating back, the fugitive mutant tried to kick the second, only to have it miss and receive a second blow to his head from the first.
Cowering away, Shade had a hard time trying to see his attackers. Blood from his open wound and the fog of tears clouded his vision as another blow smashed into his jaw, knocking him to the ground. Shade landed heavily, tasting the blood in his mouth. However, he knew his attackers would be on him in an instant. Not even taking the time to search for a spot, Shade just 'jumped'.
For a full half of a second, Shade felt that he was safe. He knew he wasn't in the room full of guards but he also didn't know where he was at. The air had a musting smell and the temperature was rather hot. It smelled like-
Shade didn't have time to finish that thought as he suddenly crashed through the thin metal and papery ceiling panels that covered the hallway that led to the darken room. A cloud of dust followed him as half the ceiling collapsed from the sudden weight.
Coughing heavily, Shade managed to stand and stagger forward several feet before he collapsed from exhaustion.
Shade had been ready for them to throw something in the room, but he thought they would at least finish the countdown. As the grenade bounced into the room, the fugitive only had time to leat behind a desk before the thing exploded. The sound was deafening but at least, he could still see. A dozen or so guards entered the area, armed with varies weapons. However, Shade only had time to register the snap of a taser just above his head before he jumped across the room. Ending under a table, he quickly flipped it to protect from any incoming protectiles.
A trail of blood droplets following the invisible mutant through the chaos. The darkness of the night protected Shade from the unwanted eyes of the guards. A sudden explosion might have revealed his location every once in a while, but the bright flash quickly faded into a darkness that instantly veiled the mutant.
At the call to retreat, Shade began to move through the chaos back to the trucks. He, of course, could of just jumped back to the armored vehicles, but where was the fun in that? He wanted to see the destruction first hand. Patrolling along the outside of the masses, Shade took time to stop and admire some of the nice scenery that had once been a guard's intestine.
After his inspection and several other stops along the way, Shade finally made it to the canavan. He climbed into the cab as the light caused him to appear from nowhere. His clothes were still damp with blood and a red line ran down the left side of his face. Sighing happily with that evil smirk still across his face, Shade got comfortable in one of the seats as he waited for the convoy to move out.
It had been impossible for Shade to keep his eyes open as the ice guy made the temperature plumet around him. If he had, he probably wouldn't have left the mutant to fend for himself. However, Shade had decided now with the immediate threat destroyed it was time to ditch. After a slight inspection of his unconscious acquaintance, Shade had quickly 'jumped' through several shadows and was over a mile from the scene in less than a minute.
What had he been thinking anyways? He should have left that mutant there to rot when that second Stalker showed up. It wasn't like Shade really cared for the guy anyways. That guy just happened to be on the wrong street at the wrong time, and Shade had nearly died trying to help him? The hooded mutant pounded his head with his fist a couple of times before continuing his thought chain. What had he been thinking?
It didn't matter know though. The next time he would probably see that mutant was either on T.V. or stuck by his blade. Shade couldn't see how else they would meet.
Shade ran the senario through his head. They must know light is his weakest, or they wouldn't have turned on the whole freaky facility. The mutant muffled a growl as he reached for the safety of the shadows, only to find out what he already knew. The lights still burned, even worse they had taken back the one other place he had.
Okay, so nowhere to run. What about fighting? Well, he doubted there were less than fifty guards outside. Plus, they probably had flashlights. Not to mention- Ouch!- his eletricified arm put him at a handicap. However, his pride wasn't going to let him back out enough to surrender that easily.
