The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Shade's chest rose and fell sharply as he tried to restore oxygen to his lungs. It wasn't that he wanted to lay there waiting for the others to capture him. He just had no choice. After several seconds, Shade was starting to wonder why he was still untouched. That's hit the pain hit. Every place possible in his body was screaming at him. He snapped his teeth together in agony as he grinded them fruitlessly. He couldn't move, he couldn't breathe, he couldn't think. The pain was that intense. The black dagger was digging into his palm as he clenesed his fist in agony, but he couldn't feel it with the rest of his body on fire. he began to roll slowly, trying to ease the body. Nothing.
Things were definitely going from bad to worse. After the unexpeted entry of the man in silver, Shade had managed to kick down the door and swash the polite mansion resident who had been nice enough to knock before entering. However as the shadowy mutant had tried to escape from the compromising scene, a pain like nothing Shade had ever experienced shot through his right leg. It was like a thousand red-hot needles had pierced his skin, straight to the bone. With his entire leg went numb, Shade barely managed to stumble away. Suddenly, the air thickened as the robber began to wobble down the corridor. Shade watched as the hanging ghost of the girl seemed to awake from her death only to yell out at Shade.
"I don't have time for this." Shade whispered under his breath. An instant later, he was behind the ghost at the end of the hall. Shade quickly retrieved the dart gun from his side, and aimed it at the floating figure.
"Feel free to look me up in hell, ghost!" Shade said invisbly, before pulling the trigger, releasing the air pressure in the gun, sending the dart spiraling towards the specter.
To his right, Shade suddenly saw the movement of light, his worse enemy especially at this moment. The shadowy mutant materialized a dagger waiting for what he thought of the light of a secruity guard's flashlight. However, it took Shade by surprise as a huge glowing figure turned the corner. It was the mutant Shade had read about- the one with glowing skin. The theiving mutant had to shield his eyes as the light intensived, only to have the wind knocked out of when as the brightly lit mutant smashed into his now visible chest. Shade was sent flying, landing on his back several yards down the hall parallel to the one leading to the office.
(OOC: Will post again after I know the effects of Haywire on the person shot.)
(OOC: I really wasn't planning on fighting him. Just shooting him then see what happens. Question: can I still teleport if/when Seizure uses his powers on me?)
Shade found out very quickly that most of the files were nearly worthless. The Order didn't need information on a seven year old that could levitate. However, he did find some interesting characters. A young, female fire manipulator, a guy that glowed all the time, even a mutant that could turn into a mermaid, and several others. He quickly snapped them before continuing on.
However, one file made him stop in dead. It was a file on a woman named Layla. Her powers were interesting sure, but what caught his attention was her known family. She had two mutant siblings, a sister and a brother named Avello. Shade didn't recognize the name, but his mutations were sure familiar. Huge, red, fur, long tail, inhuman strength. There was only one person it could be: Abyss.
Shade could only wonder if the big, red mutant knew his sister was here with the X-men. He'd have to talk to him later about it. The flash of the camera meant another report down. Shade was about to resume his search when a knock interrupted him. The shadowy mutant had time to turn his head before a voice sounded behind him. Shade didn't move a muscle for a second as the silent intensived.
"Redecorating." Shade said slyly in his rasping voice. A second passed as a dagger materialized in the robber's hand, then with a swift kick backwards, Shade sent the rolling chair, usually reserved for the head mistress, carrenning towards the silver man. A flying dagger sliced the power cord to the lamp as the room instantly went dark. The now invisble mutant gracefully leapt over the large wooden desk and jumped, kicking the door off its hinges and hopefully dealing with the person who had knocked as well.
(OOC: I hope everything is fine with this post. I'll be trying very hard not to god-mod in the near future, but if I do, please feel free to tell me and i'll modify it.)
This was getting almost too easy. With nothing but a chance encounter with a hungry teenager, Shade was rather disappointed with the whole ordeal. Little to no secruity, no powerful mutants patroling the halls, most of the doors weren't even locked. It wasn't like that would stop Shade, but these X-men cared nothing for secruity. The infiltrator was starting to wonder if they wanted to be broken in. Heck, half a cat-bugalary could break into this place and make a pretty good pull by the looks of things.
However, that didn't make Shade turn his guard down. In contrast, the robber was starting to raise it up. Maybe they were laying a trap for him. They must know he was coming, and they were about to capture him.
As he finished this last thought, Shade turned down the hallway leading to the head mistress's office. That is when he saw the second craziest thing in his life (the first being Abyss's enormous red figure). The instance Shade turned the corner, he saw the light. He quickly dove back to cover causing several loud thumps to echo through the floor, knowing an ambush was about to conmence. However, fifteen seconds passed with no noise, no sudden bright lights. Carefully, peaking around the corner, Shade saw what appeared to be a luminous figure hanging several feet from the ground. The hooded mutant didn't believe in ghosts, but at the moment, there seemed to be one floating in the hallway right where he needed to go. Shade also knew he had made somewhat of a ruckus that was sure to send the calavary coming now. So he really didn't have time to deal with a ghost. No worries.
Instantly, Shade's boots met the soft carpet of the head mistress's room. Now moving with a sense of urgence, Shade began to search for the intented files. Finding them, he turned on a desk lamp, retrieved a camera, and began to quickly snap pictures of the mutant information.
Shade made his way down the halls, careful not to make a sound. He was rather surprised when he actually did find someone up. The boy from the alley way battle. The invisible mutant gave little thought to the fact that he had joined the X-men. It fitted him. However, Shade was now second guessing himself about saving the little runt. Here, he was trying to steal some secret information and Ice-boy over here was getting a late night snack.
The boy began to return to his room when he suddenly stopped. Shade had to muffle a chuckle when the youngster actually called out for someone. The kid was staring down a blank alley. The real threat was several yards behind him. How easy it would be to kill him right now?
Shade restrained himself from materializing a dagger to down the mutant. It would be easier without causalities. Shade uttered a tiny grunt then 'jumped' across the room towards another hallway. The movement disturbed two sheets of paper, causing them to blow to the ground. Shade paid little attention as he disappeared into another hallway, moving towards the head mistress's room.
I'm still liking the idea of the Order being a self-governing little city all by itself. We could even have some sort of representation in the Senate and House of Representatives. Like not an official representative, but a person that puts pressure on lawmakers to help out mutants.
A local clock tower struck twice, sounding to the sleeping world that it was now two in the morning. Shade, sitting on the second story of a nearby apartment building, smiled widely as he stood from crotched postion, his long, grey cloak flapping around him as the wind blew against his body. He had been watching the mansion for nearly three hours. Thrity minutes ago, the last light inside the mansion had switched off, and now, Shade was sure most of the residents were sound asleep. There might be two or three older mutants patroling the place, but they would be no problem for the invisible mutant. Shade had been sent here on the orders of Syn for two reasons. The first being to find out a little more informaiton about their goody-too-shoes neighbors. Informaiton like who was staying there and what their powers were exactly. The second was a little more dangerous: find a mutant and inject them with a sample of Haywire virus Syn was planning to release on a world-wide scale. Shade tapped the dart-gun hostled to his side. He only had one shot in the gun. Something Syn had made perfectly clear to the shadowy mutant. He couldn't miss or everything would be lost.
Taking one step, Shade silently leaped from the building. Quickly 'jumping', the teleporter was now across the street from the large mutant instituion. Quickly surveying the area, Shade again 'jumped', this time landing inside the mansion's brick fence. Looking to his right, the hooded mutant noticed the tilt of a camera scanning quickly towards him. However, the camera never really had a chance as another quick 'jump' placed him safely inside the mansion.
Now, time to business. Shade thought to himself as he silently began to make his way towards the headmistress's office and hopefully the nessecary files he was looking for.
Oh don't worry it would be nothing. just make you a little dazed so I can get a head start. I know how to play "nice" Cold Steel. and if you ever catch me doing something you don't like, please don't be afraid to correct me.
Fight? Shade never fights when he is outnumbered and outgunned. No, I'm thinking a large chase through the mansion would be fun. And Cold Steel, would you mind if I took you down? You could chase after me afterwards, but I think it would be appropiate. Kind of a way to say that we are not on the same team.
Yeah, I know Streak. I think I'm going to talk to Neena and Syn before I start anything.
That would be cool, CS. You could be one of the first I run into. That way, you wouldn't sound off an alarm until after you see me do something evil.
And Geo, sure. Sounds fun. I have a pretty cool escape plan I'm thinking about, and the light from Sunshine could help mkae it more realistic if you wanted to get involved.
I was thinking it might be fum for some of the residents to have a little thief sneak into the complex. I'm thinking about Shade going after the files on the students so the Order knows what all the powers are of the students. He doesn't have to succeed at the task. Any comments/ suggestions?
It appeared that the order for the straining of the cement floor red had nearly been fulfilled. With the absolute carnage from the seven red mutants, large pools were combining to form a lake of blood. Shade grimaced as a man's head was crushed.
"That's going hurt in the morning." Shade joked, chuckling to himself. He stopped as he saw a frightened human try to escape through what used to be the doors of the warehouse. The man had somehow slipped pass the red brutes although his face and side were covered in blood, likely from one of his fellow keepers that had not been so lucky. Shade watched the man almost made it to the door. Packmaster and his wolves seemed preoccupied at the moment so...
The man could taste the sweet air of freedom. He would never have to live under the shadow of the keepers any longer. Maybe he could even go back to his home town, see if his high school love was married yet. Maybe she was single. This brought a smile to the man's face. However a second later, his face turned to horror as he felt the dagger pierce his sternum and tear into his aortic artery. No! How could this be? It was his moment of salvation! He was going to be free! The man felt weakness spread through his body as blood loss overcame him and he fell to his knees.
Who did this? Who had stolen the rest of his life from him? Who had never allowed him to feel true happiness? Then a shadowy figure appeared from the darkness outside. Just the man's head was there, floating with no body attached to it. And on the man's face, a smile. The shadowy figure was smiling as the last remaining blood drained from the man's veins into his interiors and onto the floor. Who was this man?
The keeper would never know, he died as Shade watched on, that evil smirk smeared across his face.
Clothing: Now a days, Shade has moved away from the hoodie instead usually wearing his large cloak with his battle armor underneath.
Description of ability(ies): The slightest shadow now holds safety for Shade with his ability to disappear now only interrupted by intensely bright lights. Although he still requires shadows to 'jump', he does not have to be entirely encompassed by a shadow to teleport. By putting just a part of his body in the shadow, he can transfer through the small shadow and out of another, kind of like entering a doorway just having the two parts of the doorway yards apart. Also, his shadow blade can be increased in size to about three feet long, but it still disappears after exposure to light for three seconds.
Cons (weaknesses) of ability(ies): His main weakness is still light. Without darkness, his powers are useless.
History: In the summer of 2009, Shade and the other members of the Order released the Haywire virus into the atmosphere. With most of the world thrown in chaos, Shade rode the wave of fortune being a member of the powerful Order. However, humans and mutants alike tried to destroy the people responsible for the destruction. Shade was among the many defenders that helped to stop them. His ability even made it possible to stop potenial threats by elimating the leaders of certain groups before they could strike.
As the world turned and the virus slowly became contained, Shade was used to turn key politics in favor of mutants and the Order. His proudness accomplishment was causing the withdrawal of a pontential mutant-hostile canidate in the 2016 presidental election by elimating his personal aid and the canidate's best speech writer. Shade is even on the FBI's Most-Wanted list. However, the only evidence they have are very similiar knife wounds and a five second long thermal image of an unknown person.
Shade let out a low whistle at the mention of the Haywire virus. He had never actually felt its effects or seen what it could do, but he had heard of it. A virus designed from a girl's mutantation. A virus that crippled humans and caused mutant powers to be enhanced beyond imagination. Yes, Shade could see how the virus could upset the balance of power.
Suddenly, a thought occurred to Shade like the prick of a needle, yet straight into his heart. Was it just him or was Syn takng this revenge-thing a little too far? The shadowy mutant wouldn't dare voice the thought to the general assemble, and he quickly dismissed the thought. Yet, the tiny pain remained, embeddled in left part of his chest where the cardioc muscle beating softly.
The main force of destruction came from the near invincible seven red beat that were tearing their way across the facility. Shade was just there to take care of a few keepers the big red mutants missed. Three of those crazy cultists had taken up a position behind some crates and were preparing to fire their assault rifles on Abyss and Horus. Shade doubted they could do serious harm to the mutants but just in case...
The shadowy mutant was behind the trio in an instant. He kicked the first's leg out from under him and ended his life with a knife to the throat. The other two recovered quickly from their shock, the closest one taking a swing at Shade's head. Ducking quickly, the mutant leg swept the guy to the ground before the second smashed his rifle butt into Shade's face. The hooded mutant staggered backwards off balance as he entered a shadow disappearing from view.
The keeper opened fire into the shadow hoping to shoot the now invisble mutant. Shot after shot rang out in the chaos as the keeper emptied his entire clip into the shadow. A sigh of relief escaped the from the man as there was no response from the shadow. Suddenly, his face tighten up and his breathe shortened as a black knife stuck into his back. A second later, Shade appeared from behind the man.
"You missed." The evil mutant whispered into the dying man's ear before he plunged another back into his lower back. The man fell forward, his blood mingling with the other dead keepers.
