The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The buzz from the vibration of the phone next to him was all Shade needed to wake him from the diastrous nightmare he had been dreaming. The time read 2:03 a.m. as he slowly rose from his cot. It was the perfect time for Shade. Already invisible the mutant quickly pulled the dark grey hoodie over his head as it too disappeared in the darkness. Shade quietly 'jumped' into the darken hallway as he began his search of the compound.
With a slight smirk smeared across his lips, Shade silently made his ways through the deserted halls. A couple of lights remained lit, however, Shade easily avoided them, remaining unseen in the blackness. His target was one of those forbidden labs that were either tightly sealed or had armed guards protecting them. There had to be something in there that the Order was interested in. Syn had told him to look into a few things. This was just a way of accomplishing that task. Of course, Shade wasn't against violence in order to solve a problem, but that might anger his current hosts.
Approaching a nearby wall, Shade was nearly certain that the only side led into one of those labs. He concentrated on the darkness around him as he propped the room for the expected darkness which would open a link for him to enter in. However, much to his surprise, there wasn't a shred of darkness, large enough or dark enough for him to use. Frowning slightly, Shade had to think this was slightly strange. Why would the lights, and not just some but all, be on at 2:12 in the morning?
However, Shade quickly dismissed the idea as he moved to his next target. Coming to the second target, the mutant again searched for the darkness inside the ajacent room. However, again , nothing was useful. Shade had to surpress a small growl that sounded from his chest at his discouragement. Moving to another location, Shade found what appeared to be a low level maintance room, something comparable to high tech janitor's closet.
The smirk returned to Shade's face as he sat down at the rather crappy computer and began to search for anything of interest in the eletronic files. The glow from the screen caused his face to appear ghostly animated as it hovered over nothing. Getting to work, Shade quickly became lost in his work.
After numerous times of trying to route through the havoc of the system, Shade rolled his chair back from the computer and rubbed his face in frustration at the stupid system. He had gone through every back program he could think of and the only thing he found was a stupid map of the complex.
"I doubt that even has all the rooms in this place..." Shade said to himself quietly as he printed off a copy of it. Carefully folding it, he placed it into his back pocket. Making sure to delete the history of his actions, Shade flipped the switch to the computer, shutting it down. Moving as quiet as a shadow, he reentered the hallway and began to make his way to the entrance of one of the labs he had seen on his numerous trips through this place. Maybe, he was going to have to use violence anyway. Heck, it was their fault if Shade had to displace a couple of guards on his search. They shouldn't have left the lights on.
Finally, approaching his target, Shade could see the entire hallway had led to the area was brightly lit by the ceiling lights above. Cursing under his breath, he cautious glanced out to see exactly what he was up against. Two guards stationed on either side of the doorway, guns held at rest in their hands, and the entire hallway deprived of any shadow less than two inches in size. Well, let's create some shadows then.
The blade materialized into Shade's hand as he planned to make his move. Making sure to stay in the darkness, the mutant fired the dagger at one of the fluoresce ceiling lamps. The blade smashed through the plastic covering and connected with the bulbs. Several loud pops sounded as the pressurized bulbs shattered in a shower of glass. The two guards nearly dropped their weapons at the sudden explosion. Shade watched as one reached for his radio to call in the disturbance. That could be a problem.
The two guards made their way to the darken spot that now stood in the middle of the surrounding hall of light, guns at the ready. They did what they were expected to. They surveyed the problem. However, nothing seemed suspicious. The black dagger that disappated several seconds before their arrival.
"This is guard post eight. We had an all-clear. Everything looks okay here, but send a maintance crew to fix this light. Over out." It was perfect. The guards didn't even turn around before Shade managed to smashed their heads together, knocking them out.
"Nice try boys. Next time stay out of the shadows." With that, Shade quickly but quietly made his way down the hall into the restricted section of the lab. Hopefully, something useful will be found here.

Calley
Charles Triggs, Mondragon Labs guard on special assignment as a member of Calley's support team, the Triforce, chortled over the video feed from the hallway. Naturally, all areas of Mondragon Labs--bathrooms included--were under constant video and audia surveillance, as demanded by Mister Antonescu's unbridled paranoia. There were dedicated teams of guards always present at the multiple video banks throughout the complex. Equally naturally, that recent call-in by the guards outside of Lab 12 had narrowed the operators' attentions on the feed from the hallway in question. Watching someone they had thought to be a Resistance member jump from the shadows and knock two guards unconscious was not something that would easily slip past the Labs' exceptionally tight security. Especially since they were already on alert from a recent hack-in attempt that appeared to originate from inside of the Labs themselves. Extra guards were already on patrol, searching for the hacker; it was an easy matter for Charles' friend at the video banks--one Eddy Barlow--to pick up the radio, and put out an alert.
"All available teams to Lab 12. We have an aggressive mutant break-in in-progress. Shade of the Order; shadow jumper, suspected armed. Has taken out two guards." The guard knew Shade's name and his allegiance from past videos; the shadow mutant and Syn had held a telling conversation in the Mondragon Labs Canteen not so long ago, after all, and Mister Antonescu had been very clear about keeping tabs on Syn.
The first teams would arrive within seconds at a run, armed with all the finest in lethal and non-lethal weapons and hand-picked for their combat and tactical skills by Hunter Antonescu himself.
The rest of the teams would arrive within minutes. It would be preferable to take the mutant alive, but largely up to the mutant himself. Mondragon Labs was not stocked with cannon fodder; they were stocked with soldiers.
The guard at the video feed switched frequencies on his radio. "Physical plant? I need every light on now; full power, please. Yes, for the entirety of the main complex. Thanks."
"So I'm guessing that's a 'no' to the poker game," Charles Triggs wagered. Eddy shot him a withering glare, before switching frequencies yet again.
"Archives? I need a full accounting of Shade, allegiance Order, since he was first brought to the Labs. Go over every minute of video and audio, and prepare a full report. Anything vital, particularly regarding his powers, should be immediately reported at the frequency for video bank 37."
"Yeah, so..." Charles put his hands in his pockets, and began slinking away. "I'll just show myself out, then." Eddy attempted to emasculate him with a single cutting look. Charles held up his hands in surrender, and left the booth, shutting the door behind him to the sound of its auto-lock.
Speaking of locks: any lab of any importance had at least two layers of locks on it. A key and passcode were the typical requirements; such was the case at Lab 12. Shade wasn't getting in without both. There certainly weren't shadows for him to use, either, unless he took out every scorching light in the hallway. And where would he go, then?
The Labs were flooded with light. Well-trained, armed, and armored guards were on their way. The boy had some explaining to do. 'Snooping Around' could be a potentially fatal hobby.
Charles Triggs sighed. Most of the time, being a member of the Triforce was just plain boring.
(Well, techincal you didn't see Shade take out the guards because he was in the shadows. Well, unless you were using thermal imaging.)
Bang, bang, bang! Shade watched as every door in the lab, Lab 12, it had said on the wall before he had entered, slammed shut within seconds of each other. What had triggered them? Shade scanned the room with his unseen eyes before they alit on the camera in the corner.
"Dang, how stupid of me!" Shade said before pulling a dagger from his sleeve and sent it flying into the camera. It smashed into the lense, killing the feed to the main line. (Ignore if cameras are hidden.) Then a percular sound traveled down the hallway to Shade's ears. Combat boots? Running towards the lab? Shade poked his head out just enough to see dozens of armed troops storming towards the lab.
"That would be my que to leave." Walking towards the light switch, Shade jabbed a dagger into the circuits. Eletricity shot through his arm as he yelled in pain, but the light to the room was estinguished. Alright, maybe not the brightest move but it got the job done.
Reaching out to the nearby hallways, Shade knew he could reach the safety of the shadows. However, every light around him was now light. Even the janitor's closets had their lights on. The only other shadow lay in the hallway full of guards underneath the smashed light. Man, these people sure knew how to make 'um. Retreating back into a corner, Shade prepared for one hell of a fight.
(OOC: THis is my lab Shade, so naturally we have thermal imaging )
IC: Nigel Banks had been made aware of the situation and was moving in with his personal team. These men were some of the best, all personally trained by Mr Antonescu himself. The perfect unit to deal with a rogue mutant. Upon reaching the darkened corridor he said a single word, "Glowsticks."
A moment later the corridor was illuminated by the glow of a dozen glowsticks. The shadows now gone the mutant had nowhere to hide save the room he was currently in. "Shade, I'm going to make this very simple," Nigel called into the room, "You give up now and we can talk this over, no one has to get hurt. If you do not surrender yourself to my custody I'm afraid that I will have to detain you by force. You have until I count to five to decide. One."
Shade ran the senario through his head. They must know light is his weakest, or they wouldn't have turned on the whole freaky facility. The mutant muffled a growl as he reached for the safety of the shadows, only to find out what he already knew. The lights still burned, even worse they had taken back the one other place he had.
Okay, so nowhere to run. What about fighting? Well, he doubted there were less than fifty guards outside. Plus, they probably had flashlights. Not to mention- Ouch!- his eletricified arm put him at a handicap. However, his pride wasn't going to let him back out enough to surrender that easily.
When there was no responce Nigel knew that he had little choice. At a nod one of the men pulled a flashbang from his belt and, pulling the pin, tossed it into the room. Everyone covered their ears and turned away from the door as it detonated.
Immediatly afterwards Nigel led his dozen men in, taser in hand. Half the team carried tasers, and would shoot on sight. The other half had their carbines up and ready, and would open fire if the tasers failed to stop the mutant or he looked to be ready to strike a team member.
Shade had been ready for them to throw something in the room, but he thought they would at least finish the countdown. As the grenade bounced into the room, the fugitive only had time to leat behind a desk before the thing exploded. The sound was deafening but at least, he could still see. A dozen or so guards entered the area, armed with varies weapons. However, Shade only had time to register the snap of a taser just above his head before he jumped across the room. Ending under a table, he quickly flipped it to protect from any incoming protectiles.
Shade was putting up a valient effort. After narrowly dodging a taser he dove straight for cover. However, even while he was moving a trio of men were preempting and responding. Holstering their weapons they drew batons and moved towards the table. The first man to reach it was over six foot tall and heavily built. He shattered the table in a single strike.
The next two were far worse than the big man. Smaller, wirey men that moved like quicksilver darted past and moved into to attack Shade. They were aiming to render him unconcious as quickly as possible, with temple strikes of the batons.
(OOC: I hope you don't mind me moving a couple of your guards.)
As the table cracked in half, Shade barely managed to avoid the thunderous blow before tiny devils smashed through the rubble. The quick little attackers moved like twins. As Shade ducked under one strike, the other smashed his baton into his forehead, cutting it open. Retreating back, the fugitive mutant tried to kick the second, only to have it miss and receive a second blow to his head from the first.
Cowering away, Shade had a hard time trying to see his attackers. Blood from his open wound and the fog of tears clouded his vision as another blow smashed into his jaw, knocking him to the ground. Shade landed heavily, tasting the blood in his mouth. However, he knew his attackers would be on him in an instant. Not even taking the time to search for a spot, Shade just 'jumped'.
For a full half of a second, Shade felt that he was safe. He knew he wasn't in the room full of guards but he also didn't know where he was at. The air had a musting smell and the temperature was rather hot. It smelled like-
Shade didn't have time to finish that thought as he suddenly crashed through the thin metal and papery ceiling panels that covered the hallway that led to the darken room. A cloud of dust followed him as half the ceiling collapsed from the sudden weight.
Coughing heavily, Shade managed to stand and stagger forward several feet before he collapsed from exhaustion.
(OOC: If you have a problem with the god modding just pm me and I'll edit.)
IC:When the mutant teleported Nigel's team froze, awaiting for confimation of the location. A crash outside the room gave it to them, and as one they turned and headed out, weapons at the ready. They soon saw Shade staggering forward and Nigel gave a hand signal indicating that they should just cover him, but not engage. Sure enough, the mutant collaposed.
Two men moved in and cuffed Shade's hands behind his back. Nigel gave a quick order into his radio to get a repair crew here to fix the ceiling. Shade was hauled to his feet and Nigel and his team dragged him back to his room. He would wake up in his bed in the morning to find a note on the door saying, "Next time you'll wake up in the cells".
The first thing Shade's brain triggered was the amazing pain that throbbed in his head. The slowly, the memories of the night before filtered into his brain. Groaning, Shade slowly managed to stand as he tried to make his way across the room. His eyes were constantly trying to refocus and the pain continued to throb in his head.
Finally, he made his way to the door. Shade's hand felt something move. Pulling it off the door, the hooded mutant had to look over it several times before it finally got to his head. Well, crap! There went all his fun!
