The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

(Well, techincal you didn't see Shade take out the guards because he was in the shadows. Well, unless you were using thermal imaging.)
Bang, bang, bang! Shade watched as every door in the lab, Lab 12, it had said on the wall before he had entered, slammed shut within seconds of each other. What had triggered them? Shade scanned the room with his unseen eyes before they alit on the camera in the corner.
"Dang, how stupid of me!" Shade said before pulling a dagger from his sleeve and sent it flying into the camera. It smashed into the lense, killing the feed to the main line. (Ignore if cameras are hidden.) Then a percular sound traveled down the hallway to Shade's ears. Combat boots? Running towards the lab? Shade poked his head out just enough to see dozens of armed troops storming towards the lab.
"That would be my que to leave." Walking towards the light switch, Shade jabbed a dagger into the circuits. Eletricity shot through his arm as he yelled in pain, but the light to the room was estinguished. Alright, maybe not the brightest move but it got the job done.
Reaching out to the nearby hallways, Shade knew he could reach the safety of the shadows. However, every light around him was now light. Even the janitor's closets had their lights on. The only other shadow lay in the hallway full of guards underneath the smashed light. Man, these people sure knew how to make 'um. Retreating back into a corner, Shade prepared for one hell of a fight.
After numerous times of trying to route through the havoc of the system, Shade rolled his chair back from the computer and rubbed his face in frustration at the stupid system. He had gone through every back program he could think of and the only thing he found was a stupid map of the complex.
"I doubt that even has all the rooms in this place..." Shade said to himself quietly as he printed off a copy of it. Carefully folding it, he placed it into his back pocket. Making sure to delete the history of his actions, Shade flipped the switch to the computer, shutting it down. Moving as quiet as a shadow, he reentered the hallway and began to make his way to the entrance of one of the labs he had seen on his numerous trips through this place. Maybe, he was going to have to use violence anyway. Heck, it was their fault if Shade had to displace a couple of guards on his search. They shouldn't have left the lights on.
Finally, approaching his target, Shade could see the entire hallway had led to the area was brightly lit by the ceiling lights above. Cursing under his breath, he cautious glanced out to see exactly what he was up against. Two guards stationed on either side of the doorway, guns held at rest in their hands, and the entire hallway deprived of any shadow less than two inches in size. Well, let's create some shadows then.
The blade materialized into Shade's hand as he planned to make his move. Making sure to stay in the darkness, the mutant fired the dagger at one of the fluoresce ceiling lamps. The blade smashed through the plastic covering and connected with the bulbs. Several loud pops sounded as the pressurized bulbs shattered in a shower of glass. The two guards nearly dropped their weapons at the sudden explosion. Shade watched as one reached for his radio to call in the disturbance. That could be a problem.
The two guards made their way to the darken spot that now stood in the middle of the surrounding hall of light, guns at the ready. They did what they were expected to. They surveyed the problem. However, nothing seemed suspicious. The black dagger that disappated several seconds before their arrival.
"This is guard post eight. We had an all-clear. Everything looks okay here, but send a maintance crew to fix this light. Over out." It was perfect. The guards didn't even turn around before Shade managed to smashed their heads together, knocking them out.
"Nice try boys. Next time stay out of the shadows." With that, Shade quickly but quietly made his way down the hall into the restricted section of the lab. Hopefully, something useful will be found here.
Wait, even better, I'll steal the formulas, thinking they will help me dominate the world, only to be betrayed by the three people with powers. I'll realize the problems I've caused. Come back and explain myself, telling you who I gave the powers to and where they probably will be.
The Stalker was seemingly concentrated on finishing off the ice mutant as it slowly stomped off towards Steel. A quck 'jump' and Shade was across the alley. One of Steel's blades laid slowly melting on the floor in front of him. Now in a slight jog, Shade carefully picked up the ice weapon as he quietly moved to cleave off the frozen arm of the metallic beast. Fighting the cold had was slowly creeping through his hands, Shade got in range and lifted the sword to slice off the remaining arm.
Wham! The arm suddenly shot back, smashing into Shade's side, sending him sliding across the concrete. The ice sword flew through the air and sliced into a car's hood, the blade impaled in the steel. Shade slowly turned his head from the sword to look at the Stalker. He sworn it was laughing as a grinding metal sound came from its voice box. It turned back to finish the fight.
Hey, I'm a teleporter! And I like anarchy! Can I be that guy please? Please? PLEASE?
Of course that is after I decide that I want to be more than just a member of the Order. I want to rule it. Then not just the Order, but the Whole World!
"Good enough to hit the thing." Shade said as he crouched behind a car for cover. The Stalker seemed lost after the dismemberment of its laser. However, it had now recovered and was going to vengence on these pathetic mutants. Charging towards the two, he locked onto the ice man who was laying on the ground.
The Stalker, however, didn't make it halfway across the alley before several blades smashed into its side. Using the car's shadow, Shade had rolled under the car and 'jumped' to the back end of the alley. The metallic fiend turned to find its assailant as several more daggers flew from the shadows, impacting into the side of the robot. It let out a metallic roar before turning back to continue its assault on the ice guy.
Shade rolled as the Stalker dove at him, missing the mutant by near centimeters. Scrambling back to his feet, Shade watched as the robot used Cold Steel as a punching bag. Using this opportunity to attack, the black blades threw from Shade's hands as he tried to damage the robot. Ticking off its side like rain, they proved little more than a distraction.
"Slash at the joints!" Shade yelled at Steel before he had to leap out of the way of a laser.
(Continued from Looking for trouble. I decided that you had a pretty good name for the thread Cold Steel.)
The Shadow Stalker silently moved to poach the two unsuspecting mutants and make them both a new addition to its growing count of victims that were trapped in the camps. Deactivating its cloaking device, the Stalker decided to first scare the hair off of its victims. However, one of them surprised even this robot.
Shade didn't need to be told to jump because he was already in the air from surprise. Suddenly, he had became the one in tow and nearly had his head sliced off by an invisible Stalker. Was there anything these robots couldn't do?
The Stalker gave a metallic roar (though slightly higher than its larger cousins) as it latched onto a wall to avoid the slippery floor. Following the mutants while still attached to the wall, the Stalker came around thoroughly pissed off. It wanted blood.
"You know, this might not be the best time for questions." Shade said as he noticed the rampet robot behind them. Breaking the young mutant's grasp, Shade slid off course and landed slightly off balance on the hard concrete. That was the moment the Stalker had been waiting for. Leaping off the walls, the robotic beast flew at the mutant like a velicoraptor pouncing on its prey.
(Just to tell you. The Shadows aren't shielded. So you can hurt them a little, but they are great close range fighters so have fun.)
(OOC: Okay a little behind, so this continues after Cold Steel's post.)
"Away from that!" Shade yelled as a large mteal claw stabbed into the concrete next to them. The hunky beast was gaining on them and Shade needed a darker light to teleport. This kid might be getting caught but he sure wasn't.
The blaze of light danced behind them as the Stalker's light tried to lock on to the fleeing mutants, and Shade could feel his lungs giving out. He wasn't meant for this type of running. Still half-dragging the boy, Shade it to the ally lunged in with the ice guy in tow. Landing in the shadow of the buildings, Shade immediately disappeared, but he doubt that would stop the Stalker from findind him.
A tense second passed as the blaze off light swept over them. However, the next instant it was gone. Shade had shut his eyes in anticipation when they had jumped; now he cautious opened one eye to see why the Stalker was not attacking. Half expecting it to hovering over them, Shade was surprised to see it had moved on.
"Well, that was close." Shade's disembodied voice said as the sounds of him dusting himself off reached Cold Steel's ears.
However, the invisible mutant wouldn't have been saying that if he knew that a Shadow Stalker stood about five yards away. The cloaked bot had been surveying the fight in case the Hell-fire had been damaged and unable to take care of its targets, but with so many mutants on hand, the two Stalkers had decided to separate the prey.
(OOC: Cold Steel, we kind of got left behind so you want to split off in a new thread. PM if you do or if you want you can make the new thread.)
The metallic clicks and whirls of the Hellfire Stalker was all too familiar for Shade. His skin still bore the scar from their last meeting. The brillant glare from the spot light felt like a field of fire compared to the usual cool darkness.
Raising his arm to shield his eyes from the light, Shade was like a deer in headlights. He couldn't move. His breath quicken and his adrenaline shot through the roof, but Shade was frozen still. A feeling began to itch at the back of his mind, a feeling he hadn't felt in a long time. He was scared of this metallic beast.
Suddenly, the blaze of light was broken and the cool of darkness returned and Shade fear was instantly shattered. The hooded mutant saw the ice guy creating a wall in stop the spot light. Laser shots pierced through the ice wall, one tearing into the young mutant. Behind them, a courageous cop blasted the young man with his taser.
Spinning, Shade slid his hand into his jacket pocket and grabbed for the familiar feel of smooth darkness as he materialized the shadow in his hadn into a dagger. He swung it towards the cop, hitting him in the shoulder, knocking him to the ground.
"Come on, kid." Shade said, grabbing hold on the other mutant and making a break for it past the downed officer. That ice wall wasn't going to stop that Stalker.
The place was turning into a genuine mess now; civilians were abandoning their cars to run for their lives, cop cars were screeching down the road, and the robot man was hurling cops left and right. Shade watched as the witness to his robbery waved her hand ever so lightly before the police cars grounded to a halt on the rims of their cars. So she was a mutant?
Interesting! Shade thought to himself before his eyes locked on a problem. The stunned policeman seemed to be coming to his senses, and Shade couldn't let that happen. Reaching for his radio, the officer began to issue orders for some back-up.
"Radio, this is Unit 91. We have a mutant problem on ours hands. Send in a Sta-!" The radio chatter was suddenly cut as a black blade pierced through the radio and into the officer's hand pinning it to a nearby car. Groaning, the officer tried to pull the dagger free while following its trajetory to its source. Shade was at the end of that path. Now standing on the other side of the street, it seemed very improbable that the hooded figure had actually ran to the other side of the street. Eying the officer down, Shade let that evil smirk dance across his face.
"I don't think so..." He said to the cop in his raspy voice.
A hand suddenly disturbed Shade's delight in counting the stolen money. Turning to acknowledge the stranger, the hooded mutant carefully deposited the now folded money into his pocket. His eyes followed down the delicate hand of the woman to her face. Hearing her comment, Shade managed a small chuckle.
"So you saw my display, ugh? You going to call the c-" Shade didn't get to finish. Nearby, a car suddenly transformed into a roughly shaped human being. People started screaming and running while sirens started blazing and lights flared up. The smile on Shade's face widened as he thought about how the police were going to deal with the metal man. Oh yeah, he'd stick around to watch the show.
The strong wind from a passing helicopter caused the large, over-sized cloak that Shade was wearing to whip violently around his body as he stood shadowed in darkness. The mutant carefully watched the procession of mutants move through the camps towards the armored transports. It looked like everything was going just about the way they had planned it. Now was a little time to have some fun. Spotting a guard running off from the main field of destruction, Shade's eyes locked onto his prey like a hawk spotting a mouse.
'Jumping' nearly on top of the guy, Shade quickly took the guard to the ground. It was apparate that the man was utterly confused by the fact that he couldn't see anyone. However, that didn't stop him from fighting back. As the pair grappled on the floor, Shade materialized his knife, jabbing it into the man's side. It sliced into his ribcage before Shade ripped it back out. The invisible mutant stabbed again and again in the man's side, concentrating on puncturing a lung.
However, the flailing man struggled violently, trying to swing his arms at his unseen attacker. A lucky punch managed to collide with Shade's face, knocking the two apart. Rolling, Shade quickly regained his composure and stood to finish off the guard. He could taste the blood in his mouth from his busted lip.
"You shouldn't have done that human. Now I"m going to have to really hurt you." The harsh unseen voice said. The guard's face was that of pure terror and with both hands clutching his side, he started to cower in fear.
"Please...please...I beg you. I have a family...."
"Must be nice." Shade replied before moving to finish the man.
"Please...no...no...NOOOOO!" The man's screams joined the rest of the camp's horrible song of death.
Walking back out into the fray of things, Shade had that classic smirk across his face as he moved invisibly through the throng of people. However if one looked closely, they could follow the blood trail dripping from Shade's cloak.
"Suit yourself, hero. Just don't come running for me when you are in trouble, because you won't find me." The voice from the shadows replied in a low rumble. It was easy to tell that Shade was mad at the teenager's decision. Here, he was risking his neck to save these captured prisoners and they decide that they would rather not be saved. Well, screw them. Shade wasn't about to force them to follow, and for all he cared, they could rot in this prison.
With his decision set, the invisble figure silently left the building. There had to be other people inside this complex that actually wanted to be saved.
