The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Serena laughed. "Yeah, I'll do that." She would most certainly warn a person if she was about to irradiate them. However, she had no intention of doing that... To anyone.
She brushed hair out of her face as Liz asked Serena about Liz's pet. "Oh, I don't mind, I like pets." In truth that was partially the truth, partially politeness, she had never had any pets, or really been around many animals, however she was telling the truth when she said that she didn't mind.
Serena nodded to Liz's request and began measuring teaspoons of the sugar and the cinnamon and such, then began to put them into the mixing bowl as Liz had requested. She smiled. "This is actually sort of fun."
Serena nodded as she took in all of the information her teacher was giving her and neatly organised it in her mind.
She nodded to her training construct, after watching Sam demonstrate how to dodge, she saw what he meant about waiting until that last second, not only did it mean that he dodged more smoothly, she made the connection that it also meant that the opponent wouldn't see the dodge coming.
Or for that matter, the counter which might follow it.
Serena watched closely, keeping herself as relaxed as possible. The first blow proved more difficult than she had expected to dodge, but as it continued on for a few minutes, she hastily got the hang of it, adjusting her stance without thinking about it.
She began to see the path of the swing as it flew towards her and dodged accordingly as if she had seen the end of the swing before it occured. She was tiring rappidly though, but detrmined to carry on as long as possible to show her teacher that she was serious about these lesssons.
Serena dusted herself off as Regan took her apron away from her. Now, what should she make for lunch... She smiled as she walked past her furry friend, she felt the sun wash over her with it's gentle radiance.
She turned back to smile and Regan and was practically glowing with happiness. She wondered what Regan liked to eat, she was feline after all and seemed to purr just like a regular feline, so did she like to eat raw meet and things like fish? Did she like to hunt birds or other animals?
Serena's mind drifted back to the first night had spent at the mansion, in december, when she had lost her brother, discovered she was a mutant and met a young girl and a werewolf in one evening. She remembered Emerald mentioning something about the vensison she had still left in the fridge from a previous hunt.
Serena wondered, did Regan have a similiar experiance to Emerald, did she enjoy hunting animals as prey?
She decided that it was probably best not to wonder these things, for if she was meant to find out about them, she would learn in time from Regan.
Serena lead Regan to the kitchen and noted that nobody else was around, the had gotten here a while before lunch, and most people where either in class or out enjoying the wonderful day. "So, what shall we make for lunch?" Serena asked her feline friend.
Serena wandered through the halls, feeling calmer and calmer by the minute, the relaxing quietness of the deserted hallways, normally it was rather quiet at night, although this time it was even more unusually quiet.
She let her own thoughts wash over her as she moved. Recent events had made her think about her powers, the way she had been able to save that blood with Kat, had frankly been an amazing experience, she had made a new friend out of it too!
Although it was only in the corner of her mind, Serena was getting more and more inclined to helping people as the days went by, it made her feel as if she had a place in the world, and her powers were starting to come in handy with that, which had been completely unexpected.
Serena quietly turned the corner and saw a familiar little blonde girl, Victoria, who had helped Serena get settled at the mansion in the first place. She looked uncomfortable, perhaps she felt ill? Serena wondered what she was doing up so late.
She silently moved over to Victoria and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder "Hey, Victoria? Are you ok?" she asked in a concerned tone.
Serena smiled. "I love romance too!" Her and Liz seemed to already be getting some overlaps, that was great. Serena was liking her roommate more and more by the minute.
Serena knew her dad could play the piano, but she had never seen nor heard him play it, she herself could not, for she had always been too busy with school work. "Nah, I've never played anything, always wanted to learn guitar or bass though, they look like they could be a ton of fun."
Serena nodded to Liz as she finished giving a description of what they were about to do. "Yeah, got it. I'm tend to pick up on things decently fast, so hopefully I won't mix anything up and nuke some french toast..." Serena murmured sarcastically.
Serena had woken, covered in a cold sweat, wanting to scream again, and yet again, barely stopped herself. These nightmares were seriously beginning to get to her.
She was wearing shorts and a plain blue t-shirt. Her hair was looking as beautiful as normal, she combed her hair and straightened out before she left her dorm, because as of late, she kept encountering others. And it would be rather embarrassing to wander through and bump into someone while wearing lingerie and with bed hair... god she felt red just thinking about it.
She carried on her walk, through the dim lit hallways, after she had gotten something to drink she stayed away from the kitchen, she didn't want to intrude on Drew's baking as he would almost certainly be up at this hour.
She carried on walking, wondering who she would inevitably encounter this evening at this ungodly hour.
Serena started rappidly climbing the stairs, she was oddly relaxed in this building, it was so oddly familiar, why was it so? As she let her own thoughts wash over her like gentle waves, the figure continued to climb.
Man this person was really climbing a lot of stairs, very quickly, what did it want? Wait what was she thinking, it was running from her from some reason and wearing a hood, so he or she was hiding their face from Serena and running at the site of her...okay then.
This revalation made Serena want to catch the figure and question them even more badly.
Serena giggled as they had finsihed their job, that was quite supprisingly fun... She wondered how long that would have taken Regan on her own... Was Serena actually slowing her down, or did it go much faster beacause she had been there? She wasn't entirely sure, afterall that had been her first time doing an activity like that one.
She smiled, she had helped. They had finished early, Serena put that her unexpected arival had put a chink in Regan's plans. She was feeling fantastic, she was practically glowing with happiness.
She pondered Regan's question for a moment what could they do?... Well, it was a beautiful day outside, so what would be something fun that they could do, maybe outside, She wasn't quite sure. Maybe lunch, out in the sun, yes that sounded good.
Serena turned to Regan, giving that signature smile "Hey, seeing as it's such a nice day, how about I make us some lunch and some tea or something and we can eat it out on some benches or something and enjoy the nice day~"
Serena was seriously enjoying this... She was still a little shocked to find out that she enjoyed gardening this much, Although, she shouldn't really be surprised, she had spent most of her life in small apartment buildings. So the openness of the mansion and the gardens were amazingly pleasant.
Serena giggled. "This is all I've planned so far... I've sort of been doing whatever I feel like at the time so far and I thought that It'd be lovely to come and visit you, turns out I was right. Serena followed swiftly with another giggle.
A flower petal fell off of one of the plants and landed on the floor, Serena bent down and cradled it in her palm, plant life, so fragile, yet so much beauty was in them. "What about you, is this your whole day then?" She giggled again.
Serena wondered why nobody ever got angry with her near-constant giggling...
Serena smiled. She had never tried french toast before, and she was perfectly willing to try it out. Serena grinned at Liz's wonderful smile this girl would make an absolutely perfect roommate for Serena, she just knew it.
Serena pulled a mixing bowl from the indicated cabinet and handed it to Liz while she pondered her question. "I enjoy artwork, even though I don't really know much about it, and I've never tried it myself, I love reading, that list could go on for hours... From Pride&Prejudice/Shakespeare to things like harry potter books."
Serena giggled slightly, she should start reading at night to relax herself, she hadn't read much recently, and it wasn't as if she'd have school work for a little while, so she might as well. She wondered how this whole Settling in period would go...
She smiled "What about you Liz, what do you like to read, or look at, or, ugh, you know what I mean..." Serena mumbled in the same sweet tone.
Serena winced as he mentioned nightmares, She was definitly familiar with those... It was so frustrating. And it wasn't that she just had nightmares, it was this one, awful reoccurring nightmare.
She carried on drinking and then relaxed against the counter, except she was not relaxed. She was fidgeting, she felt like she should be outside doing something...
Serena was getting very impatient indeed. She was looking impatient. "Maybe I should go for a run or something, god when did I become my brother..." Serena muttered to herself aloud.
Serena noted Drew moving across to the sink, it looked as if he was about to clean up. Great, maybe she could help him with that, something to do finally. "Hey, Drew. Would you like a hand? I feel like I need to do something."
Serena smiled awkwardly. "Once or twice... but, I guess my power sort of protected me..." Serena shifted about uncomfortably for a moment. She didn't like the feeling of fighting with her power, it was as if she wasn't controlling it, it was controlling her...
Serena nodded taking in his advice on her stance and then adapted accordingly, bending her knees to the correct length, and then moved her arms into the correct position and relaxed her muscles so that she was loose enough to react properly.
This was turning out to be a little easier than Serena had expected... Although, she hadn't actually fought yet, so it might just all be in her head.
Serena pondered his question for one moment, and then thought of an appropriate response. "At a guess, I'd say, either avoiding the strike via dodging, or using the momentum of the opponent against them..." Serena's video games were teaching her these terms... Stupid older brother, getting her into video games...
Serena smiled at the man as she poured herself a second glass of water. She sipped it, it was refreshing. She did not want to go back to sleep at this point.
infact, she was beginning to feel as if she could do some exercise, it wasn't as if she'd have class, it was the weekend after all.
She nodded at his comment "Yeah, yourself?" Serena did not want to talk about the reason she was not sleeping... it was too horrifying for her. After all, these nightmares were something truly awful.
She had been experiencing them for months now. And the resulting immsonia was really starting to provide issues for Serena. She was going to have enough of a nightmare pre-pairing for exams this year as it was. Considering she had missed so much of it thus far.
