The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Serena normally would have had to take a while before she could sleep in an unfamiliar bed. But she was so tired from her little adventure that night, when she had encountered Regan, that it didn't make a difference. She cuddled up into what she hoped would be a restful sleep.
Serena's eyes fluttered open. She was standing on part of an old building. Odd thing was, it was floating... it was a large section of the roof of the building, suspended in mid air. She didn't know what to think. This building was definitely a flying building normally.
She wandered to the edge. Feeling herself drawn to it. She peered over the edge. The building was surrounded by some form of red mist. It looked so... dark. The mist clung to the side of the buildings and floated in between, like water vapour. Then it dawned on Serena... That wasn't water, it was blood.
She didn't know how, or why she knew. But that was blood and lots of it.
Why were all of the buildings floating? Why was there a mist of blood clinging to all of the buildings? Thinking about it gave Serena a headache, so instead she decided to go and do something practical. Find out what was going on while looking for other people.
Even if something was seriously wrong, it was still new york after all. There should still be an ample number of people about. Serena moved around the roof top scanning for ways across to other buildings. She saw a group of floating debris.
She decided to risk it. She jumped across to the first one with relative ease, and the second, third and fourth. But on the last one she lost her balance and fell, she barely caught the edge. She pulled herself on and lay on it, panting from the near death experience.
Adrenaline pumping "That... was... close..." She caught her breath, jumped across to the other building and set out across the buildings. She couldn't even tell what time of day it was...
Serena pulled her self onto the edge of the building, a bridge formed at the end of the rooftop she had pulled herself onto. It was as if the blood rose up from below the building and had formed a gruesome bridge of blood, but then it has suddenly solidified and become solid stone. She wanted to find out what was going on.
She saw a figure. It was somehow familiar. But it was shrouded. The dark figure ran past her like a blur, she extended her hand to grab them but the slipped through her fingers. "Stop, WAIT!" Serena needed to find out what was going on around here, and that person was her best chance of doing so.
She saw the figure start at a sprint accross the bridge. Serena broke into a run after her. Atheletics had never been Serena's strong suit, but she somehow found the strength to keep relative pace with the figure, so it didn't slip even further away.
She would catch this person. And then she would find some answers as to what was going on in this bloody city.
She chased the figure straight across the bridge and onto the next rooftop. The figure sprinted straight across it and ran down the emergency stair well. Serena carried on running after her. She pushed the open the door to the stair well and barreled through it.
Only, when she reached the other side, she wasn't on a stair case, she was down in the streets of new york. The buildings and streets all looked desolate. And the blood mist clung to surfaces sinisterly. Serena looked around the open street.
Then she saw the figure running straight down the middle of the road and sprinted after them. "Hey! Wait!" as they ran through the street, Serena thought about what this figure was, was it a mutant, male, female? It didn't matter. All she knew was that the figure would have the answers which Serena needed.
Serena resumed chasing the figure after stopping a second to catch her breath. The figure didnt seem to be going too far, always staying within her sight, but just out of her reach. It was frustrating, there was also something that was extremely familiar about the figure, Serena couldn't quite figure out why though.
The pair of them dashed through streets that were bathed in moonlight and ash and blood. It made Serena feel a little dizzy, she wasnt quite sure why though. Maybe it was because she had the ability to "control" blood...
The buildings, the city, it was all in ruins. What was going on here? Serena thought that something must have gone horribly wrong, and that hooded figure could possibly hold the answers which she sought.
Corner after corner, the ash and remains of a city long since destroyed crunched under Serena's feet. This figure never seemed to tire, could that be its mutation? Was it a mutant? That might account as to why that it seemed to be the sole survivor of this horrible event, whatever it was.
It ran into a familiar looking building "hey, waiiiit!" Serena was determined to catch this person and interrogate them. As they sprinted into a very familiar lobby, Serena felt another wave of deja vu.
The figure started running up the stairwell. Serena followed.
Serena started rappidly climbing the stairs, she was oddly relaxed in this building, it was so oddly familiar, why was it so? As she let her own thoughts wash over her like gentle waves, the figure continued to climb.
Man this person was really climbing a lot of stairs, very quickly, what did it want? Wait what was she thinking, it was running from her from some reason and wearing a hood, so he or she was hiding their face from Serena and running at the site of her...okay then.
This revalation made Serena want to catch the figure and question them even more badly.
As they reached the top of the staircase Serena realised why she felt as if she knew this place. It was because she DID know it, this was her old apartment building.
But why did she not recognise it? She had only been moved out for like two days, so why'd she forget about it so quickly? She did notice that the building was surrounded in blood and a lot of the furniture was soaked in it as well.
That must be it, she wasn't used to seeing it covered in blood.
The figure burst through the open door to her older brothers apartment. And then stood near the balcony.
Serena approached. Breathing heavily. "I've... Caught you..." The hooded figure raised to arms and dropped the hood.
The first thing that Serena noticed as the hooded figure disgaurded the cloak is that She was wearing a blood red mirror of Serena's teal dress. Wait, when did she put on a dress? This day was starting to get more and more confusing by the minute.
Then when Serena looked up into the figures eyes, she noted that it was her. Well it wasn't, because she was her. But this person looked almost exactly like her, execpt her eyes were darker, she had a much more... creepy look on her face.
She froze. The figure was wearing the blood red hair pins that her brother had left her as a present, and Serena was wearing her old teal hair pins. This was certainly very odd indeed. The person was like, an exact mirror image of Serena, but she was all blood red.
As Serena continued to examine the person, she noticed that the dress wasblood, not blood red material, it was actally comprised of blood. What.The.Hell.
And she also had blood stains on various sections of her skin, and across her face, near her eyes. This was like something taken directly out of a horror movie.
"Who... what are you..." the extremely confused teenager asked.
Serena noted the figure had the same accent, the same voice that she did. Was this her? What was this, was it another mutant? Someone who could like, change into other people or something.
Messing with her head. Someone was messing with her head, they just had to be.
Serena looked directly at the figure, who was smiling as if she knew something that the blonde did not. "What happened here?!"
The figure clad in red burst out into manic laughter. She was clearly amused by the whole Situation, Serena on the other hand, was not amused. She was messing with her? Wasn't she? This was stupid. This whole situation was stupid. Devoid of logic.
Serena glared some more.
The figure stopped laughing. "You really don't know? HA! That's fantastic. Guess. Guess little Haemokinetic." She had a look of utter, blissful amusement.
How dare she! The city was empty, blood was surround the stree- "You, you did this. Serena stated flatly.
Serena was building up some serious anger. How, why? Why would someone do this? When did this happen? The questions swirling around in her head continued to fuel her rapidly building rage.
The figure giggled "Now now, watch the anger," She teased. Wait, how did she know that Serena was getting angry? Was she showing visible signs? What the F*** was going on?
"Anyway, you are only half right."
Serena looked blank, what did she mean only half right? What did this woman mean, did she have someone helping her? Who could have done something so diabolical, so cruel, so unforgiving, so unhuma-
Serena's thoughts were interrupted by her doppleganger. "You did this just as much as I did Serena." She said with the giggle still carrying through her voice.
Serena froze. She was soooo confused, and scared and alone. Even though this person was here, it felt like she was alone, the same feeling you would get when you were alone in a room and stared into the mirrror.
"Wha... What do you mean I did this?" she squeked.
The sanguine doppleganger threw her head back in laughter. "Don't you get it yet? Surely the mist clinging to all of the buildings, floating about eariely gave you a clue?
What could she mean? Serena was confused for a moment. And then she remembered what the doppleganger was talking about. She was reffering to the mist of blood that was clinging to the various buildings of New York.
Then it clicked... The woman looking like her. The blood surrounding the city, how she knew her. "Who exactly are you?" Serena asked coldly. She thought she already knew the answer.
The Sanguine woman Smiled. "I am you, the darker parts of your personality that surfaced with your gift, your gift is one of darkness and blood, I am the thing that lurks in the dark corners of your mind, waiting..." The woman then giggled again, slightly manically.
It finally clicked. "I did this, my power, you, it's all part of me," Serena took a shakey breath "That's why there is a mist of blood clinging to the side of the buildings. That's why I can't find anyone else. I. Killed. Them."
The red version of Serena laughed again, and then began to clap slowly. "So you've finally figured it out. Yes, I am part of you, just like you're mutation and yes, the reason that you were not able to find anyone other than me is because you killed them all." She had a look of utter bliss on her face, as if she got some sort of sick pleasure from all of this.
Serena froze. She was almost in shock. She did this. Why but... Why would she?
Wait no, stop. This was not her fault, this was the other's fault, this was her stupid mutation's fault. This stupid dopplegangers fault. This was not her, she was not this, she did not do this. This.Was.A.Trick.
The blood-drenched girl smiled knowningly. "Oh, so you don't think it's your fault do you?" She took as short pause.
Serena's sudden calm revelation shattered, like fragile glass. This girl, this... part of her, knew something that she didn't. And this whole time, she had just been toying with Serena. Why though?
"I'm afraid you are wrong in what you were thinking, I come from your subconious emotions and desires. I represent your need for destruction and security. I represent the part of you that seizes control, not the part that cowers in fear. So, this whole situation couldn't have happened if it wasn't for you. It's.All.Your.Fault." It's.All.Your.Fault.
The words reverberated throughout her mind. She put her head in her hands. This was her, this whole situation was her.
