The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Fade watched as the pebble floated up into the air and landed in her hand and then smiled when the pebble was placed in her hand as it began to gain weight. "Very nice." So it was good that she had not encountered any side effects. After the pebble had reached maximum weight for Fade's sore body to handle at the present moment, she allowed it to drop to the ground. "Hope you don't mind." She added as not to be rude.
"Ha, well, we all have our moments." She laughed, referring to the fact that Naomi had mentioned that she did stupid things on purpose. "Take these for example." She lifted her foot and showed her phase-stuck shoe, then pointed to the tuff of hair and then at her spaghetti strap. "Then again, these were accidental, I didn't mean to phase through them...and now they are stuck." In frustration, she pulled on her tuff of hair and it phased, ever so slightly, now it was only half-way in her broken collar bone.
"What about past organizations? Have you been a loner?" She asked, noticing that Naomi had skipped the question, whether on purpose or on accident, it did not answer, but Fade needed to make sure.
((Not quite sure if I mentioned that she had a sling on but she's supposed to have one...))
Fade nodded to the girl and then looked down at her toes for a split second before noticing that everything was still invisible, she rolled her eyes at the invisible shoe and stopped focusing, allowing the tuff of hair, her shoe and her strap to be quite visibly phase-stuck.
"Well, I am both. I have no way of living on my own so I am provided her with a more than comfortable living arrangement and in return, I help other mutants with their powers and I protect them. It is too small of a price to pay for a fresh start." She shrugged. It was true, though, in Fade's opinion. The fact that she had not had a home since she was like 4 suggested quite a few things, so around a year and a half's time of living at the mansion has proven to be much more accomidating than 12 years on the streets.
"Before I can bring you to the headmistress, I must ask what your powers are and any side-effects that you may have encountered. I also must ask if you have belonged to a prior organization." Fade was just being secure, wouldn't want another Order member to get in.
Fade watched the girl jump off of the baloon and watched as it floated off into the sky without a look of surprise. OK, so the girl was a mutant, that was for sure, and she knew that Xavier's was a place for mutants. Safe enough. Right?
"Yes, this is the place. Welcome, Naomi." She said, nodding her head in a response to Naomi's bow, it was so that she wouldn't be rude by not replying or by bowing in a manner that she did not know of, so a head nod was good enough. "Are you looking for a secure location to stay?" She asked. Members of The Order had been known to come in and out of the mansion as spies of some sort, so better to question the girl than to leave her in the dark.
"By the way, I rarely go by Jenny, my human alias when necessary. You may call me Fade." She smiled. The girl did not seem dangerous at all, but Fade knew of even young, innocent mutants that had little control over their powers, such as the little Night Light. If this girl was looking to stay, she would need to be questioned about her powers just as Fade was when she first walked through the mansion gates over a year ago.
Fade had spent her day cursing under her breath for her lack of ability control. It was a newly discovered power, although she had it all along and she was not used to it. So far, she had managed to phase her shoulder through her black cami and now the spaghetti straps seemed to just disappear mid shoulder as they formed under her skin. Her right shoe had also been a victim and the sole was on her ankle as her clawed feet stuck through the under part. Along with clothing articles, her red hair was stuck in her collar bone and in a pitiful attempt to get it out, she cut her hair shorter than shoulder-length and now had a clump of random hair.
Seeing the new arrival out at the gates, she looked down at the clump of red hair and turned it invisible along with both of her shoes. Nothing she could do about her cami though, so it stayed as it was. Walking up to the newbie, she opened the gates and spoke. "Hello. My name is Jenny McCullen, how may I help you?" Growl. She hated using her human name, only two mutants got away with using it and those were Raph and Tric, no one else would dare call her Jenny.
However, for safety purposes, she had to appear more human than usual, which meant hiding her raptor-like claws and attempting to cover up her awkward spaghetti strap. All in vain, obviously the newbie was a mutant as well, however, safety first, right? She'd been trying to adapt that. Then again, the sling around her shoulder due to her broken collar bone and the bruises she now carried screamed 'safety is for losers...' Who said redheads can't be hypocritical?
"I can help, I really can, I'm wide-" Before she could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by a long and loud yawn on her behalf. "...awake." She wearily smiled as she finished her sentence. Her eyes were red and she looked a little pale, just plain wiped clean of energy.
"Well, I guess I could just sit down there and wait for-" Another yawn escaped her lips. "...someone to tell me what to do." She left the tent, but merely went right outside of it and procceed to sit...well, it was more of her knees buckling and the rest of her body just collapsing...on the moist grass. Then her eyes closed for a moment, only a moment. Yet a moment was all her body needed as she immediately drifted off into sleep, allowing her body to sink down to the ground until she was laying down, quite uncomfortably, but what did she care? It was sleep, no matter how you spelled it.
Fade made her way out of the van, nearly completely drained of her energy, but that was not going to stop her. Just because she was exhausted, she was not going to wave off an opportunity to help her fellow mansion-dwellers and well, non-mansion-dwellers. As she moved forward, she felt her knees giving way, but she grabbed onto a tent supporter in order not to fall and cause a scene, she didn't need any help, she was just wasted of energy.
After a few deep, calming breaths, she began to move her feet again, grabbing on to the closest objects when she felt as though she could not make it. Many were around, many wounded, some were fine, and some merely claimed they were fine. However, through all of the commotion, she heard a familiar voice, well, a few familiar voices.
With much effort, she made her way over to the voices, constantly blinking in order to keep herself awake and responsive. The familiar voices led her into a tent. In front of her was the Doc Prof and next to him stood Raph. Nearby was Tricity and as Fade looked at the cots, she found two badly injured men, one of which she recognized from the first time she entered the mansion. It was Cassiel. However, she did not recognize the other.
The Doc Prof was busy with the man Fade did not recognize, and she was glad that he took no noticing to her. Yes, she needed sleep, but needing and wanting are completely different, for one must want and need something in order for it to be accomplished and Fade did not want to rest. What does sleep do? It's only good when she's asleep, but the actual 'going-to-sleep' part was not fun, so she just ignored the process all-together.
Her eyes dwelled on Raph, the most familiar of those that stood in the room, yet she shook her head and clasped her eyes shut in a failed attempt to keep herself open. Never-the-less, she adverted her attention to Tricity and opened her mouth, speaking in a raspy, tired voice.
"Anything I can do? I'm all healed." She offered as she rubbed her wrist. Her eyes began to droop, but she pointed with her finger and pressed the cuticle of her pointer finger with her nail, having to go deeper than the raptor-like claws that phased right through her skin. It was an old trick that she knew of, if she pinched her cuticle hard enough so that she'd feel pain, she'd wake up, but only a little, so she attempted again on her middle finger before biting her lip and making a small gasp of pain as she released and her eyes opened wide, yet for only a second.
"Yeah, that healing mutant sure did help out alot." She shrugged, even though she couldn't feel the pain, she remembered just how much she hurt and ached and how glad she was when the mutant began to heal her. "Believe me, if you find him, make sure I can join in on the beating."
"Of course you can talk to me, um, where do you wanna go? or do you just wanna wait for the others to go see Miss Tipper?" She replied to Raph's question. Her eyebrow raised in curiousity but she knew that all things would reveal themselves once they were alone, so she lowered it again and smiled.
"Thanks Wyn." She looked down as he offered to show Evie around.
Her smile grew as she saw him smile and sprint up the stairs. Her gaze moved to his eyes and she replied "Hey" right back. "How's the extra weight?" She asked, seeing that he had quite a bit of difficulty getting up the stairs and breathing normally now that he was up. Then again, if she had that much weight added onto her, she wouldn't have fun with stairs either.
She looked down at the new girl and smiled. "Welcome to the mansion." She smiled. "My name is Fade, but my real name is Jenny. Pick whichever one you want to call me, and I'll be fine with it." How about Mike goes with you and the other. I'm sorry, I don't know who you are." She said, looking at Eldwyn.
Fade was making her way up the stairs with the new guy when she heard someone enter the mansion. Quietly, she turned around as curiousity made her do so and saw the three now where she had heard the noise. A smile formed on her lips and she stopped on the stairs. << More new people, two, and Raph. >> "It seems like we're the new welcoming committee, huh, Raph?" She smiled, looking back and forth between the three of them.
Fade looked down and stated "Well, it was either I life of moving around, or a life of new fosters parents every once in a while. It wasn't too bad anyways, got street smart and that helps me out alot." She shrugged. "So I will go ahead and show you one of the rooms, if you'll just follow me up the stairs."
((Now you start a thread in the rooms, like when we enter the room))
"Well, I don't know the scientific terms for them, I just know the ones that have like animal characteristics." She shrugged. "Oh, well, Miss Tipper is like the head of the school, so she wouldn't assign you a room, just tell you the best place to get one and that you'd need to get one in the guy's part of dorms. Um, I can show you the rooms though, if you want to check it out first." Then again, the only room that she could show him would be empty rooms or her's, but she didn't know if that was allowed.
"West Virginia, huh? I'm not really from anywhere specific, more a drifter. Never liked to stay in one place for too long, this mansion is the ONE exception since I was little." This was true, the mansion was the only place she considered home since no where else had treated her so well since she was quite little.
She smiled as he told of the pros of her mutation. "Yes, but I have learned that it only works on people and on a select few mutants, most can hear or see or smell me coming by their mutation. So it wouldn't work with any bad mutants."
Her eyebrow raised in a confused yet amused fashion as he stated that he guesses it would be "ok" to see Miss Tipper. "OK? She asked, do you wanna hold off on that for now or do you wanna go see her? It's up to you, you're the new guy." She dropped the raised eyebrow and just smiled, and not just like looking cute smile, it was like an earnest smile, but for all those that are reading that probably won't understand what I mean. Just like a 'haha, you're interesting' smile and not a 'maybe if I smile, he won't bother me anymore but I'm not being offensive.'
"Oh, that's right, I didn't know if maybe your nickname was Desolate...I dunno where I was going with that. Feel free to ignore it." She chuckled. When he presented his power she smiled and looked at the leaf with fascination.
"That's pretty neat. I mean, you're actually able to protect yourself, my power is mainly only good for running away, nothing more." She sighed. She did at times, wish she was able to do more in a fight than sneak up on her enemy, but that was not possible, so she let it go.
"I can take you to see Miss Tipper. Do you want to do that?" She asked as she didn't know what room he needed to go to or any specific stuff like that. She just lived here after all.
"Alright, a tour. Well, let me begin by taking you inside, wow! That was a step in the right direction, huh?" She joked around as they walked inside. "Well, you see, I haven't gone by Jenny in a while, unless people call me that by nature, never bothered me too much. It's just that because of my past lifestyle, anytime someone would say Jenny, it was because the cops had found me or someone recognized me from those Missing Persons Milk Cartons. You know? I dunno, Fade was a street name for me, kinda like a safe name, because, well, I can turn invisible and no one on the streets and none of my friends on the streets called me Jenny. So when the name Fade was mentioned, it was generally a friendly person that I knew, but if it was Jenny, then I knew just to freeze and turn invisible and get out of there." A chuckle escaped her lips as she thought about just how absurd that sounded now that she had said it out loud. "So what about you, got a street name?" She asked, only half joking.
A smirk formed across Fade's lips as she noticed just how much his cheeks changed colors. "Well, we could start with a tour, or whatever." She smiled. "Oh, actually, I came here in April, I believe. So I haven't been here too long, but it seems like I've been here all of my life. I guess that is because I've never lived anywhere for this long, 'least not since I was like 8 I think."
