The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Fade smirked. "No where has ever been safe, if there was a place that was safe, who would go there? It would suck all the fun out of life."
"It was all confusing. I couldn't really get a good look at him, but he was caught. Not as if anyone else did anything to help, it was mainly Zeke that got him and we just took care of the intruder after the tussel. I just wish that I could have helped, you know? My first task as an X-Man and it's taken away by an X-Man-in-training. Kinda makes me feel like I wasn't even needed." She paused, realizing what she had just said. "Well, don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against Zeke, I just wish he would have let his fellow mutants help him instead of bursting out right before we were gonna attack and taking care of the situation."
Another pause. "I'm sorry, I have been ranting." She turned to Nexus, realizing that she had not answered his question and she answered it by saying "Invisibility. I can turn myself completely invisible and I can turn whatever I touch invisible too, just as long as it's not too many things to turn invisible, you know? Can't turn a car invisible...yet."
Fade had pushed all of her thoughts out of her head and stood in an odd fashion. Her leg was bent slightly while the rest of the weight hovered over her straight leg. The perfect pose if someone wished to bump the back of her knee and cause her to topple over. But who would do that? That was dumb. Her mouth was slightly open and her eyes squinted. If you didn't know any better, it'd appear she was analyzing something so deeply that it was sucking out her brain power, yet she was doing no such thing. She was blank.
K. So she was going to stay over at Zeke's place. Andy. That was a thought. Andy's fast little body and slightly overuse of his power. Then again, was she overusing her power? Phasing and being invisible a lot? Nah. Andy was pretty fast though. And in these times...she paused. She did not even know she was thinking. She frowned and stopped thinking again. She wanted to be as little distractable as possible. If distractable is a word...hmm...NOPE! Just get in the car and shut up!
"Sounds like a plan." She smiled before jumping into the car and buckling up. He started up the engine and they drove away from the mansion. Her old home. Her only real home. I hope it's fixed up soon. I want to go home! We need serious construction. That's not very cool. She continued to think about the mansion even when it had gone out of sight and the two sped off to Zeke's place.
"Thanks for the offer, Professor White, I'll have to consider." She nodded, pushing out thoughts of Raph. Now if he had ever found out she was going to stay with another man, even his adamantium blood would freeze over. So, she pushed him out again. Seemed the more she pushed him out, the more he invaded her thoughts. Oh well, Zeke is a Professor and he's already in love with another student, and I don't see Raph anywhere anyways. And he knows I love him and he knows...well...it's stupid to even think about him thinking about this from this perspective... her face scrunched up in an odd fashion. What was she even thinking about? She became lost in her own thoughts. Go figure.
Her face turned into that of a suppressor when she saw Zeke's reaction to Fade asking Andy about where he is staying. Lips pressed together, she suppressed her smirk and laugh. Of course he would act like this! It wasn't as if she would bring Andy to Zeke's place. If Andy didn't have a place of his own, she could tell by Zeke's expression, that he would not be staying at Professor White's place. So most likely, had he accepted, she would bring him to the mall and phase him into the mattress place and then just leave him in there for the night while she slept in the model beds, even though they were small, in K-Mart. She'd have to sleep invisible, but she was used to that. After all, most of her life, she had her raptor-like claws invisible.
Turning invisible was as simple as riding a bike. It was tough to learn the first few times and then she became so well adapted that if she so wished, she could turn her skin invisible so the organs and muscle tissue and bones could be seen. She would be the perfect anatomy teacher...too bad she knew nothing about what was in her body other than how they were all different colors.
"hot'l" Fade raised an eyebrow as she attempted to figure out what Andy had just said, but she slowed down the word in her head and figured out he was saying "hotel". She smiled, primarily at Zeke and then shot her attention back to Andy as he quickly said something that she dared not disassemble and dash off.
"That was weird." She spoke as he ran off. "Such a talented mutant, too bad he can't slow down enough to keep his attention. Professor White, I could have just taken him to the mall. I can sleep where he can't reach...or see." It was true. If she wanted, she could phase through a wall and then just stay there, she wouldn't be using her phasing powers, but she could just climb up to the ceiling, phase through in a laying down position and only have her face sticking out to breath while being invisible. Then again, that would cause blood to flow to the head and could cause her to loose control of her powers. Ouch. She would phase out of the ceiling fall flat on her face on the floor.
Yes, better he had a place to stay. I'm sure he'd be completely bored while we sleep anyways. I do hope he finds a best friend that can slow down time or something like that, he's probably already back to his place by now. She mentally chuckled. "I might just take you up on that offer. I haven't had company in a long time and tonight is the warehouse night...I don't really want to sleep there." That's right. It was the warehouse night! So she wouldn't even be able to pull that off with the mall thing anyways. What a waste of thinking.
"I sure hope we find them. This isn't the first time Raph has run off, then again, I haven't been too permanent of a resident either. But I always come back. I just don't get what's going on. I had heard a cagefighter was out for him, but I need to talk to Deathstar before I can even think about confirming that." Deathstar was not a favorite at the sister school, in fact, if Fade could remember right, she and Glare had a bit of an argument. Then again, Fade and Deathstar hated each other until Raph came around and proved that the two actually had more in common than they chose to believe.
Fade took Andy's card and pocketed it as well, after glancing over it for a moment. If there was one thing the once-homeless girl did not know how to use well, was the internet. She knew how to use the Danger Room computer, ironic, for it is much more complex than the internet is, supposedly. Her eyebrow raised at the e-mail address, she had never seen one before. Maybe it was his alias. With a nod of "understanding" she thanked Andy for his card and continued in on the conversation.
"Yes, the process is quite long and I think it takes much dedication, yet if you have the heart, the will, and the commitment, and you fight for the righteous, it only takes about a year...ish." She added. "Raph was much better than I, he was the muscles and I was the scout." It did not make sense why she kept holding on to him, it was like she would never let him go. Only one explanation for her refusal to let him go, she had really fallen in love with him. Simply the word love scared the young redhead, but there was no other explanation for her thinking of him so often. He was always there in her mind, always lingering, never leaving her be. It was hopeless to forget him.
"I do have a place of my own, but it was one of my old hideouts, well, I spread out and don't stay in one place for more than a night, so I guess it's about twelve old hideouts. It's comfy...enough." They weren't, really. The only place she looked forward to staying in was the ceiling of the mall, so she could phase through the mattress store and have a lovely bed, or nick a few clothes from the K-Mart along with food. Now a shower...that was hard. She would bathe herself in the sink, it was a long process. Yet ever since she had been living at the mansion, hygiene was essential.
"What about you, Andy? Do you have somewhere to stay?" She would not invite him to Glare's, no, that would be rude. She just wanted to make sure and if Glare offered, then it would not be rude. Her cautious attitude for Andy seemed to disappear, but it was daytime and Glare was there as well, so she would be on her guard if he were to stay in the same place as she and/or Glare.
((That's fine. I can roleplay as her until she returns. School's been kicking our butts. I'll remind her))
((I AM EXTREMELY SORRY FOR THE DELAY! I've been grounded. Grades...))
Fade squashed her face in her typical odd manner. She was thinking. "Have you searched everywhere that might mean something to her? I did not know her terribly well, but everyone's got somewhere that they would go in a time of distress." Fade remembered her old homes. Each place was a sanctuary when times became rough. One was in the mall, actually, the ceiling of the mall. Others were in abandoned warehouses, alleys, dumpsters, drains. At one point in time, she had grouped with a few run-away mutants, but left them due to some confusion and her nomadic ways.
"Don't you worry, professor, we'll find her soon enough. She's a tough girl with an amazing mutation, I'm sure no one has taken her and she is just looking for you." She attempted to calm him, yet she knew how it felt. Unfortunately, her search for Raph had been a failure yet she was too much in love with him to move on.
"Speaking of lost lovers, have you seen or heard from Raph lately? I have searched everywhere for him and I still cannot locate him. No cagefighter has heard from him either and I'm growing weary from the searches." She sighed. As much as she wanted to move on, she could not. Who would she move on to? Who could be her Raph? Seemed that no one could replace him.
"Yes, sorry, this gentleman here is interested in the X-Men. He's a bit too fast to keep interest for too long, but it surprises me how well he has adapted to his mutation. We could use him, but you know how long our processes are." She smiled, remembering when she was accepted as an X-Man. It took her a long time to be accepted and she and Raph did it together.
Fade heard a slight noise, but ignored it. After all of the missions she had been through, she was constantly alert and decided to cool off. It might have just been Andy running from the tree and back without her even realizing it. "Yes, don't worry. We'll get them all out." She nodded before seeing a man approach.
Instantaneously, her power kicked back into mode and she became a ghost-ish figure, as in if Andy desired, he could wave his hands through her chest again and kick her boot. Carefully, she listened to what he had to say. Ah yes, she recognized him. Professor White, from her understanding, he had a rather deep relationship with a student, then again, Fade had a deep relationship with Raph, who no longer needed schooling. After all, Fade was no one to judge, Zeke had been great help to the X-Men and was a wonderful teacher, even though Fade had to take independent studies and had never been in his class. She had only heard great things about his teachings.
"Professor White, I am surprised to see you back. I have not seen or heard from you or Evie for quite a while now. Are you two alright?" Foolish question. If Evie wasn't pinned to his side, then obviously things were not alright, unless she had stayed hidden while he checked the coast. Fade noticed his bracelet, yet was unaware of its significance, she had hidden completely away from the world during her search for Raphael and was unaware of the bracelets. Must be a fashion statement.
Fade watched as he scribbled down quite a few things. That must really suck to go taht much faster than everyone else. When he passed her the note, she scrunched up her face. She read it as quickly as possible and skipped a few words that she didn't know such as physicists, contrary and specialists. She hated being slightly illiterate, but she was progressing. She would learn the language soon enough.
"Yes. A simulation, a training session." She nodded to everything else "Good. There is a rebellion going on that you could join, but I am not the lead of that. I'm the only X-Man, so what power do I have?" Too long. Then again, I guess he has to wait while I think as well.
((Sorry, MAJOR brain fart. I have been writing stories for my Creative Writing class all day and doing AP Lit timed writings so I am really being slow. Lucky for me, there's a 5 day weekend, so I hope I am better by then. Is Andy going to be involved in the resistance?))
She took back the note and allowed herself to undo her mutant power and stand there as a complete human-looking girl that was able to touch and feel. She read the note and smirked when she saw the arrow. Good. She no longer had to stumble over her words. That was a very good thing and she felt much better that he appreciated her effort and she no longer had to talk with her tongue vibrating so fast that it would fall out of her mouth if it did not have a few key veins in it.
"We need to put you in a stimulation, to analyze your powers. You also need practice in teamwork." Even though she was trying to keep it short, she noticed that he was a bit, well, bored with the speed that she was speaking. Oops. One thing is for sure, she had never really appreciated how everyone was on the same speed until she had met someone moving at a different tempo. It made her appreciate the speed of the world a bit more.
"Everyone is in the camps, but I need to ask you a few questions if you wish to stay the Mansion." Great. She was making it way longer than she had expected, but she had gone through this the first time she had come to the Mansion and she remembered it as good as yesterday. Before the Sanctuary and before the Kabal, before the government madness. "Are you powers a danger to anyone? How well can you control them? Any pieces of your life that you don't remember?"
It was common for mutants to have some form of Post Traumatic Stress as most mutants, including herself, went through quite a tough childhood, or whatever hood served as their depressing days of humilation and/or torture. Even so, she just wished she had a piece of paper that had been prepared early so she could just pass him the questions like a test and he would fill them out. She hated taking up any of his time. Maybe there was a mutant at the Mansion that would be able to help him slow down when he wants to, then again, all of the files were destroyed so how would she know? The files! Drats! They just got sorted through!
As Fade was still talking, the man zoomed over to her and stripped off his clothing! It was all happening so quickly and while she was talking. Now this was quite interesting. She smirked to herself as she muffled a laugh when she saw his jumpsuit. Ironically, she was in her X-Uniform. It had taken quite a while to become accustomed to the tight leather and she had finally succeeded in "breaking it in". Even before she had finished her second sentence, he was writing on a notepad.
Some would take this as rude, but Fade was now fully aware that he was moving too fast for her to keep up with, or was it that she was moving too slow to for him to keep up with her? Either way, they were not at the same level. Her now black eyes watch as he attempts to place the paper in her hand and watches it fall to the ground, well, it would have fallen to the ground if he had not caught it on time, yet not before he had waved his arms in her chest and kicked her boots. What a strange mutant.
After she was finished and his arm was stretched out with the note, she ceased her phasing power in only her hand and took the note. After all, he had waved his arms inside of her! She was not going to stand aside and be shocked when she returned to her normal unmutated state just for him to try and wave his hands through her again only to find the awkward feeling of a woman's breast in his hand. No. That would be interesting to move on from.
He knew who she was. Not like that was odd these days, but it was usually the local police that recognized her and not a mutant in a unitardish outfit. Knowing how bored he must be for the lack of speed Fade had, she read through and then looked up to Speed, attempting to be as fast as she could in her speech, but it was pointless. She doubted that her idea of fast would be fast to him, it would probably only amount to his idea of painfully slow as opposed to excrutiatingly slow.
"You'll needta train withus first." Ugh! Was that how she sounded when she spoke quickly? What a failure! She tripped over her words. It was not like the poor girl received much of an education in the first place. If it was not for this school, she would have never even been able to read, truth is, it was still difficult to read out loud, she always read silently to herself. Lucky he did not use any big words she mentally smirked. Oops, nevermind, whatever that pre-pre-presumptuous word is. No clue.
"I hatta train." She replied. E-gads! Stop talking like that! He's going to shoot himself before he finishes piecing together your words, Jenny! A mental slap echoed in her feuding mind and she decided to shake it off and just do what she's doing. Hopefully he would just tell her she's being retarded. Great, Jenny. Here this guy is, interested in the X-Men and you look like a stupid girl who's trying to talk to her crush. We could use a speed demon anyways, maybe he can show that white-haired c o c k y Kabal boy that he's not so fast after all. "Where're ya from?"
OK, Jenny, we are talking fast but not loosing our grammar that we've learned. Or learned while the Mansion was up and moving. Thank God he's not a telepath...or is he? It was always hard for Fade to talk to Cassiel or any of the telepaths because she would end up sounding so dumb that she was shocked they had not thrown her out.
Dirt. Dust. Rubble. Wires. Broken glass. Fade's hopes were decreasing by every new location that she had searched. The X-Men were all confined in a camp, all but her. The one that managed to escape. Had she been at the Mansion during the attack, she would have been with her companions, but yet again, she had found a lead of Raphael, her long lost boyfriend and had attempted to follow up on it. Returning to the Mansion was the worst thing she could have done for out of everywhere the girl had lived, the Mansion was her home.
Of course, her invisibility was in tact, she did not want anyone to see her and take her to the camps as well for she now belonged to a rebellion. However, as she continued to rumage and found no hope, she sat on a beaten bench in front of the Mansion and sulked in frustration. She should have been there, should have helped, should have done something other than look for a man who's not coming back, not even to say goodbye.
Her hopes had all but been resurrected when a gust of wind gently brushed her and she realized that it was a mutant, a speed mutant, who was doing exactly what the redhead had just given up on. Standing up, she watched him for a few minutes, attempting to decide if he was friend or foe. Well, the camps made all mutants friends in a unity and attempt to break free from government rule, so she approached. Actually, she attempted to approach as he was moving too quick for her to catch up with.
One final thought and she was visible, watching him with her ever-color-changing eyes. "If you are looking for a member of your family, I suggest the camps. As you may very well see, there is no one here but you and I." Just in case he was foe, she was prepared. All but her feet were in a phasing position so that if he was to speed up and tackle her, he would fly right through her, but also so that her feet would not phase into the ground and she would not become slightly stuck.
"My name is Fade. What or who are you searching for?" Introduction with an X-Name. He seemed friendly enough to give him the name she was most commonly accustomed to, many mutants had a nickname without being an X-Man. After all, Fade was her street name and it was not until she became an X-Man that her legal name, Jenny, was used and it was only used by Raph and Tricity.
Fade jumped out of the van and began to make her way into the infirmary, following behind everyone, it seemed. To tell the truth, Fade was in no possible way, the mutant to be walking around. Her broken collar bone was excutiatingly painful, not to mention all of the crystal shards now lodged in her and other various wounds. Her consciousness had gone blank the whole ride and she was in a stretcher until they were in sight of the mansion, where she suddenly sat up, in immense pain. Refusing to be brought in on a stretcher, Fade wanted to keep her dignity by walking in with low pain on her face although every step pained her more than the last.
All that the redhead needed was to pass back out on an infirmary bed and allow the doc to take care of her while she was unconscious, but she was firm on saying that she was going to walk in the mansion. Her pace slowed as she fell behind the group, grabbing her collar bone in pain and shutting her eyes as it it would help. Some of her muscles had not finished phasing to their original position, so her hands were covered partially in skin and partially in muscles and some areas in bones. Her cheek bone was quite visible as she had not yet recovered from her encounter with Jack.
A few more breaths told her she needed to get to the infirmary and fast, but something caught her attention. A weak cry for help. Turning her torso, the redhead looked down on the ground to find her KP opponent, Jared the Galleria of Jewelry. An eyebrow raised as she looked down on him, her first assumption was that he wanted a rematch, to show his true colors, but the look of pain painted on his face suggested something else. He seemed to generally want help.
"Why didn't you go to the Order Infirmary? What are you doing here?" She asked, completely oblivious to what side he was on. The pain that she was experiencing was too great, she needed to at least sit down if she couldn't go to the infirmary right that second. So, she acted as though she meant to sit down, but half-way down, she gave up and relaxed her body, falling with more pain before leaning against the side walk with her less-pained arm.
"Well, I know that there is some paperwork for roomies, I'm not sure who, I will have to look them up." Fade shrugged. Who had roomies and who didn't? Who wanted them and who didn't? She wondered if it was all in the paperwork, but doubted that preferences would be in there.
"For now, I must go. You can tour the area. I am sure that you will make friends quite easily, we are all friendly here. Sorry again for my departure, I have to deal with a few things." She smiled, showed Naomi to the kitchen and then rushed out of the Mansion, keeping her vision low as she walked the long journey, walking was good for her anyways. A long way into the past.
((I have a thread where you may requet to have a room mate in the idle chat board.))
Fade kind of laughed. "Yes, this poor mansion has been through alot. Details are hard to explain and if you do, in fact, choose to stay, than you might be involved as well, only if you choose it." She smiled as she walked down the hallways.
Finally, she stopped at a door and opened it before stepping inside of the office. Her currently silver eyes surveilled the area before picking up a folder and opening it. Scanning over the areas, she found a room located in the adult section and non-student area and put it down. "OK, so do you wish to have a room mate or remain to your privacy? Because we do have an open room, well, plenty, but it is where most of the adults stay, unless you wish to have a roomie, in which case, we shall have to find you one."
"Wow, really? And mutants were taken from their homes like that? Scary thought. I never had much of a home to be taken from, but I guess that is not such a good alternative." She shrugged. Usually, speaking about her past made her feel uneasy, but now it took no side-effects and she could non-chalantly mention anything she felt.
When she heard Naomi giggle, Fade smiled lightheartedly. "Yeah, still trying to get used to this whole phasing thing." She sighed, pointing to the random tuff of hair. It was quite annoying to see out of the corner of her eye, so she attempted to make it invisible, which caused it to sink further into her skin instead and become lost, it was probably in her lung or something...nope, she could feel it slowly phasing through her body until she saw it left behind in one of her footprints.
"She is a tough woman, she will be fine. As for the tour, where would you like to start? Possibly I could show you to your room and you can put down your things?" Fade said as she fumbled with her spaghetti strap.
"Good, good." She said, referring to the fact that Featherweight had never been in a separate organization. "We have quite a few organizations up here in New York and we each have the same goal and different ways of acheiving that goal." She nodded, allowing Naomi to enter the grounds now that her questions had been answered.
"The Headmistress is currently sick, so I am not quite sure when it is that you can get in to see her, but I am sure that the wait will not be too long. She will give you more information and try and help you. What I can do at this moment is set you up with a room, if you choose to stay here. I can also give you a tour and introduce you to some others that you could possibly help." Fade began to walk forward and sighed as suddenly, her foot completely phased through the shoe and she left it behind in the grass. With an aburpt stop, she backed up, put her foot back in her shoe and then continued to walk with the new woman.
"So you are not from America? Where are you from then?" She asked, keeping her pace steady.
