The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

That's right! Anyone wanna thread with the site's resident Wordsmith? He's pretty much available for all scenarios. He is unaffiliated to any faction, he's a goofball, works in a comic store, and his big mouth tends to get him into trouble. So, if interested, either PM or post here!

>> "Sure"
Akshay grinned. This young lady certainly was quite a looker and not only that but she seemed kind and sweet on top of it all. She really was the whole package but the look on her face made it seem as if she simply did not want to discuss their relationship. Which he thought was odd because he could have sworn that she was into him.
But…whatever. As much of a goddess as she was, he was not some scumbag that was going to make her fall in love with him. She would eventually accept her feelings for him. He simply needed to wait for her to realize that. And he could definitely be a patient man.
Gratefully he took her money, punched in the appropriate keys into the register and pulled out her change. He smirked as he dropped the money into her dainty hand and took a proceeded to bag and board her purchases and handed them over in a nice, yellow back that had the store’s emblem on it.
>> "Thank you…And if you want to, um, meet other mutants... there is a whole school for them in the city. I can tell you where."
He blinked. Slowly he lifted his gaze and tilted his head to the side curiously. Was she serious? Did she seriously just say that? There was…a school? A gathering of people like him? Of mutants? He was actually beginning to get a little giddy at the idea that she was proposing to him. It was true that Akshay did not get to meet a lot of mutants but that did not mean he was not eager to meet those of his own kind. That was really all he thought about. He was sadly just always lacking opportunities.
And yet here, the this sweet woman, was offering that to him. He had to smirk.
“Really? I would TOTALLY love that!” he said with an actually squee in his voice.

For some reason the redheaded beauty seemed completely at a loss for words and looked as if her skin tone was going to match her hair. He really could not believe that she did not know how much of a knock out that she really was but he could not judge her because of that. She simply could have been one of those wallflowery types that did not know their own potential or their own beauty. It was definitely cute and something that he hoped he could convince her of.
But as he stood there, watching as she seemed to look over the card he had handed to her, musing over his invitation, he began to speak just a little self-conscious. Maybe she really thought he was too weird after all. If she had really had been that into him, wouldn’t she have just accepted off the bat? Or was she just trying to make him sweat a bit?
That would be his luck…
>> "Alright, I'll stop by the Comic Book Store Tomorrow round 1,"
Whhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaa?! Akshay found himself mentally asking about the situation. Was she…? Did she…? Had she…?
Had been drinking something at the moment it would have made for a perfect spit-take scene. He gasped as he tried to wrack his brain and think about the situation at hand. She really just agreed to meet him at the comic shop? To meet him for lunch? Was she aware that he was asking her out on a date and she had just agreed to do so? Akshay really wished that he could have found something intelligent to say at the moment. A bit of prose or poetry that would have perfectly captured this moment for the both of them.
Instead all he got out was a…
“Heheeee gurslli Kay…”
…
Were those even words? He looked slightly embarrassed but he quickly shunned it away and tried to regain his composure. After all, he needed to at least appear like he had some control in this situation, right? He cleared his throat and pretended as if his incomprehensible slurry of words back there was simply because he had something caught.
Apparently she did not take head of it and moved on…
>> "I gotta resume my workout, but I gotta say it was nice talking to someone. Means a lot to find someone who isn't scared of me by first sight. Thanks and I'll see you tomorrow!"
She was blur…and seemingly wanted to duck out of sight as quickly as possible. She pocketed his, gave him that winning smile of her’s, and then dashed away in order to return to her work out. He meekly waved his goodbye, with another silly smile on his face as he watched her jog away. After all, could he really pass up the opportunity?
…
…
Ahem…
He simply just continued to grin like a moron as she disappeared, really not knowing if she had truly intended to keep her promise to meet him. Instead all he could mutter as she vanished like a ghost in the wind was…

>> "Ah, ha now whose blushing,"
He smirked and blushed again. He silently cursed himself for not reining that in but the exchange still made him laugh. She was quick one to pounce on that. He really did not think that she was going to call him on it as obviously as she did, but he guessed that it was fair that way. After all, she was blushed a significant amount due to himself. If anything he probably owed her for how many times he made this redheaded warrior-woman blush.
Well, he was only too happy to oblige. God, if only his cheeks were not so warm though. He grumbled with a slight grin as he attempted to will them away. When he was finally more comfortable he glanced again to the young woman.
>> "I didn't know werewolf mutants that scared soccer moms were such popular comic characters to draw and no I don't mind. Though, I may be a little scared next time I take my little sister to her favorite comic book story that I might be mobbed by her friends asking if I shoot lasers or something. "
He laughed again, very heartily. She did have a point that if any of his more regular readers had stumbled across her, they were probably flipping their lids. More than likely they would assume that she was cos-playing as his character or that he had based the character off of her and therefore she must be exactly how the character is in the comic! Surprisingly, when he was watching her practice, he had to admit that she had some pretty fancy fight moves. Things that were totally up Slaagathor’s alley.
A grin appeared on his lips as he shook his head. Who would have thought he would run into someone who reminded him so much of his own character? Had to be kismet.
Adjusting his drawing pad, Akshay reached into the back pocket of his sweatpants, produced his wallet and quickly flipped through it until he found a stray business card. He needed to remember to print out more of them, especially since the store refused to print them FOR him. How rude was that?
He snerked as he pulled out a business card that SO looked like it was designed by a comic nerd. The large letters at the front spelled out, “One Comic to Rule Them All” followed by an address for the shop as well as a business phone number. But on the back of the card was Akshay’s name as well as his cell phone number.
…
…
…
Yeah…subtle.
He grinned innocently as he handed the card out for her to take.
“You should come by the shop! I can show you the character I’m talking about. I’m usually there most mornings through afternoons and we’re hardly ever busy,” he said with nod. “I can even treat you to lunch! Whatcha say?”

Akshay really found himself at a loss at the moment. He was looking at this very beautiful redhead who looked as if she was going burst into flames at any moment and he could not help but smile. She was simply adorable and the tail-wag was just overly cute. Add that on top of the fact that she was a bombshell and that she had yet to slap him across the cheek just made the situation all the better. But it also made him wonder…was it really possible that she didn’t know she was as attractive as he was saying?
Surely that was impossible. The woman had to know that she was attractive…right? How could she possibly think otherwise when looking in the mirror every day? Maybe it was just a self-confidence issue? If so, then he could definitely help her…
>> "It's just...I'm not really used to people calling me beautiful. Mutt, ruffian and other stuff yeah, but beautiful not so much,"
He frowned slightly at that response. Which is odd for someone like him who is normally always smiling. To know that this beautiful young woman has never been exposed to such praise before, it was simply criminal! Criminal says he!
That was something that was going to need to change.
>> "You draw pretty well you know that?
He smirked. It was his turn to blush. The one thing that sincerely made him blush, despite a woman liking his company, was praise about his art. He was still in a bit of a loop knowing that his comic book was success but that was his own issue that he needed to work through. He sighed as he reached back, rubbing the back of his neck a little awkwardly as he returned the drawing pad to holding it underneath his arm.
“Thanks,” he said with a small, shy grin. He shrugged though. “Nothing much. You just…um…you remind me of a comic character I draw. You sincerely look just like her and I had to draw you. I…hope you don’t mind…”

>> "Akshay Malik, that doesn't seem too hard to say, at least you have a normalish name and it's not some sort of codename or anything. See this one time I met this guy named cutter and....wait did you just call me beautiful?"
She blushed.
He grinned.
Akshay simply could not help it. The wolf-girl was certainly adorable. For such ferocity that she displayed, she really was quite easy to make blush. That of course was something that he could exploit since he loved to make gorgeous women blush, especially when they have this air of strength and power that could easily outdo his own. Not that he was trying to lie to her or make her uncomfortable, it just made him feel good that he could affect an intimidating and pretty young lady.
He just chuckled as she blushed and began to toe kick the dirt with her sneaker. It really was just too adorable for him to contend with, especially with that happy little tail wag. Normally women with her physique and beauty usually managed by now to slap him or drive a knee into his crotch.
He was happy with the knowledge that there was no face slapping or crotch kneeing today!
A smirk appeared on his lips as he nodded.
“That I did, and, like the honorable George Washington, no relation, I can only tell the truth,” he said with a nod. “Come on, you have to know that you’re a knock-out, right? I mean,” he hefted up his drawing pad to show some loose sketches he had made of her from a few moments ago. Totally in a not creepy way either. “otherwise why would I be drawing you?”
Despite the fact that she looked exactly like his main character Slaagathor…

Akshay continued to glance at the soccer moms that were gathered on a grassy hill away from the track they had been running on. They pretended to stretch and pull at their muscles as they turned to cast glances of concern or judgment at either him or the pretty redhead. He smirked as he glanced at them before he turned his attention back to the woman. He was never really one to care about what other people thought about him. Hence his lack of care when it came to dancing.
So what if he was caught talking to a woman that made the Stepford Wives jealous and could rend the air with her bare fingers and had a wolf-tail? She was nice! People needed to stop judging books by their covers.
>> "Psh of course you heard the funeral song…Well don't worry about a thing, you are safe with me. It's not like I'm going to eat you when you back is turned. So whats your name? Mines Emerald Lupin."
“My knightness in workout armor,” he said with a slight swoon in his voice.
He was such a kidder but thankfully this did not seem to bother the redhead in front of him. She was actually laughing with his odd humor, which is something of a rarity. Many people figured him to be too much of a spaz to hang around with for too long. But the redhead was at least joking around and laughing with him, instead of at him. That made him grin. Especially the fact that she wouldn’t eat him either!
But he smiled again when she introduced herself.
“Emerald, huh? Beautiful name, for a beautiful young lady,” he said with lightness in his voice. “Akshay Malik, take your time, I knows it a mouthful to say.”

>> "Yeah I suppose so, I've been practicing fighting ever since I was a little kid so I guess the skill comes with experience,"
He nodded. Years of practice could definitely prepare one to face the world. On top of that it would also turn her body into a fairly honed machine by this age (not that she was ancient or anything! Heh, far from it), so her workouts would have a fluidity that novices simply would never be able to possess. That knowledge only added to her lethality. The fact that she could be that combination of strength and beauty only let him know that she as indeed a force to be reckoned with.
A force that he did not want to get on the wrong side of. Thankfully though, judging by the sound of her laughter from his last response, he was in the clear. At least she didn’t think he was some creep that was randomly coming up to young women and chatting them up at the park.
Well…in a way that was what he was doing here. Just less lecherous driven…
>> "Eh, I don't punch people in the face unless the deserve it and so far ya don't deserve it…I'm surprised no one gave ya the ‘dead man walking’ look when ya walked over here though. Seems that not a lot of people like werewolf mutants in Central Park."
He smirked. It was his turn to laugh out loud as he looked past the redhead’s shoulder and spied a few of the soccer mom’s as they continued their jog and eyed both the wolf-girl and the strange Indian man that was speaking to her. He smirked as he gave them a hearty, good morning wave, and watched them chatter amongst themselves as they jogged on.
“Nah, no ‘dead man walking’ looks,” he said with a chuckle. “But I could have sworn that I had heard Taps being played when I was heading over here,” he said with a joking air.

He complimented her. It was a small compliment, nothing that he thought was his best pick-up line or anything. He was sincerely just giving someone some nice words. After all, he did admire people who knew how to fight, who had the drive to keep working out, who could put their bodies through such punishment and still cry out thank you and ask for more! He had to admit that one look at her would make anyone jealous.
Hell, he wished he had her physique.
But as he turned to gather his hotdog, think little of his compliment, suddenly he saw the look in the woman’s eyes. Apparently what he had said meant more and really struck a pleasure nerve with her. He grinned sheepishly and in surprise.
>> "Really? You think so? Not a lot of people appreciate good fighting moves or someone that is training ,"
“Ah well, I’m not a black belt or anything,” he said honestly. “But one look at you and it’s obvious that you shouldn’t be messed with.” He followed that with the smallest of chuckles. It was true, he definitely did not want to cross this woman since she made it look like she could easily snap him in half if she had the mind to do so.
>> "Though, if my moves left Soccer Moms scared, I'm kinda surprised you came over here. Most people stay away in fear when I do stuff like this, I'm not really sure why though. "
He smirked. Was her tail, that wolf tail, really wagging? That was just so frickin’ awesome and cool. And it really went well with the blush that she had had on her cheeks earlier. It softened her just a little bit, at least enough so that she seemed approachable and not like she would tear his head off (as most women would like to do).
Akshay shrugged at her comment though.
“Eh, I’m not known for being smart enough for my own good,” he grinned cheekily. “You could very well still have intentions of punching me in the face and I’d prolly still compliment you on your skill.” He said with a small laugh.

The redhead eyed him back. It was as if she were expecting him to do something stupid or lecherous. Then again, this was New York so he wouldn’t put it past her if she had experiences like that. People can get extremely bold. Now, Akshay was the type of guy who fell for a girl at the drop of a hat, but he was not all that crazy. He knew better than to suddenly come up to some pretty thing with those types of bold intentions. Especially not to someone like this redhead here.
She was beautiful, yes, but she had an aura about her that just exuded this ferocity that made him just slightly wary. He would have hated to have said to wrong then and then suddenly have to beaten him into a bloody pulp.
That was why there was a small wave of relief when, after she glared at him, that she realized what he was referring to and why he was staring with that little smile on his face. She dabbed the ketchup away.
>> "Thanks for that, probably would have been wearing it all day if you hadn't said anything. Don't really pay attention to much when I work out."
Was…that a blush?
It was sincerely a blush! He had to laugh at that comment, though he did not do it out loud because he feared her beating him up, but the smirk on his face did show his amusement. He watched her as she blushed and checked to make sure that the ketchup was truly gone.
“No problem,” he said with a laugh as he nodded to the hotdog cart owner and handed him his own money which he traded for the hotdog with ketchup and relish. “That’s happened to me before,” he smirked. “Once I had a milk mustache that lasted for nearly twenty-four hours before someone finally told me.” he grinned toothily.
Maybe not really that long, but it was close enough. Either way, he was in her predicament before.
“You were impressive out there,” he said with a grin. “Left the soccer mom troupe with their jaws hanging open.”

The gorgeous redhead came to stop in her running…then she started to beat up the air. He arched a brow as he watched her, momentarily forgetting that he was actually attempting to draw at the same time. With a gawking look, he simply stared, unabashed, as she actually made him feel sorry for the invisible enemies that she was beating up. She punched, clawed, and struck with such precision that there was no doubt about it; this was not something she was making up on the spot, she regularly trained like this.
He gasped in surprise…
…in shock…
…in admiration.
Wow he had never seen a woman fight like that and what a woman this must be. It was…it was almost as if she was the living embodiment of Slaggathor, his comic character! She fought like a warrior and yet she exuded sexuality. He was thoroughly impressed. If anyone had every optioned his comic into a movie, there was no doubt about it, it knew who he wanted to play Slaggathor.
He hand started to move again as she slipped over to a nearby hotdog stand. The man was just barely setting up for the day and already the redhead was claiming an order.
Breakfast of champions. he thought to himself.
But the expression on her face when she started to eat the hot dog, it just made him smirk. There was such joy and peace on her face that he wondered if someone had laced those dogs with some kind of hallucinogen. Because whatever was going on, the redhead was thoroughly enjoying it to the point that it almost made him want one.
Slowly he got up and made way to the hotdog cart, tucking the pad of paper underneath his arm. She really did make it look good and now he wanted one. But as he made his way over, he paused when he caught sight of her, and he had to grin… There was a nice glob of ketchup across her cheek. Spoils of war, he guessed.
He smiled and waited until she made eye contact. It was only when she did that he smirked again and pointed to his own cheek, referencing for her to check her own.

She blushed at his praise. He blushed too and silently smirked. They would make an absolutely adorable couple. It was not that he was a shy man, not entirely. He would be the first one to cut up a dance floor, even before the music started! But when it came to matters of the heart and people he was attracted to, it was an unfortunately fact that he simply could not control himself. He always managed to somehow mess things up. But he didn’t believe that the same was occurring now.
He was being dashing…
He was being giving…
He was being sweet!
And none of it was simply to seduce the girl. He didn’t know her, but he definitely would love to get the opportunity to if she would allow him. But she seemed so shy. He would not press asking her out, not just yet, anyways. She needed to get used to the idea that he liked her too! After all, he was probably being so chill that she really couldn’t tell if what he was saying was genuine.
Poor thing. He would be patient with her.
>> "Thank you…That's... really interesting. Have you.... um, have you met other mutants around?"
He shook his head as he went back to collecting the rest of the items she had purchased for her friend, the comic loving girl.
“I’ve seen a person or two, you know, the visibly mutated,” he said. “But I’ve never gone up to talk to them.” he said, ignoring the words that wanted to spring to action in the air and waved them away quickly. “And everyone else pretty much has kept their abilities secret from me.”
He shrugged as he finished ringing up her items with the flourish of quick fingers over the cash register. When he was done, he smirked as he turned the screen to flash the price.
“Except for you, of course,” he said with a smile. Then he nodded to the register. “$20.45 please?”
