The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> “I need a drink.”
“OH! Then, by all means, allow me,” he grinned. He stepped to her side and motioned in the direction of the nearest bar.
The dance floor had returned to normal, the majority of the dancers had returned to their normal dancing but it was obvious that they were still impressed by what they had just seen from the young Indian man. Then again, they had not been close enough to actually hear what he had just told the young lady. They were either paying too much attention to the music or were too wrapped up with their own situations to take notice. Though their reactions probably would have mirrored the young woman’s, Akshay, himself, didn’t care.
He was who he was.
He was a damn good dancer.
But he was also a comic nerd, a comic artist, and an all around goofball! Take him, love him, or leave him! Simple as that. But…it didn’t mean that Akshay would make that an easy decision for whatever pretty young thing managed to find herself tangled in his web of impenetrable seduction!
Heh, she didn’t stand a chance.
Once they had reached the bar, Akshay was able to lean in and grab the bartender’s attention. Obvious it was someone who knew him well as the tender smiled and nodded to Akshay.
“Nice moves tonight!”
“Thanks!” Akshay chuckled. “Uh, bottle of Heineken! And…whatever the lady want’s,” he indicated to the girl.
The tender arched a brow as he eyed the girl but gently shook his head as he turned and began to gather their drinks whenever the girl finally decided to order.
When that was done, Akshay turned back to the girl with a nod.
“Sorry about back there, I was just jokin' around with the whole 'Dance-Man' label. Caught up in the moment,” he said to her. Then stuck out his hand to shake her’s. “The name’s actually Akshay, Akshay Malik. And it is an extreme pleasure to make your acquaintance.”

>> “Nice to meet you Akssshay. Thanks, And yeah me too, I was visiting my grandfather in Japan and had access to absolutely Zero Media.”
“Whoa! Tough break,” Akshay replied with honest sympathy. “At least you managed to find your way back!”
He really did feel bad about that. In a world like this where technology is practically everywhere and in everything is engrained with her, Akshay was surprised that this relative of Koga’s managed to live in a pocket which was virtually untouched by it. It was surprising to say the least. Maybe his original assumption that the young man had been living in a cave this whole time was actually true.
He shook the idea off as he began to jot down on the official form which back issue graphic novels Koga would be ordering…
>> “ So, you heard anything about all these kids that have been disappearing? Kidnapped. I am guessing.”
He blinked as he looked up, tilting his head a bit. Akshay was not someone who paid a lot of attention to the news, too busy drawing or having fun, you know. But he did remembering hearing something like that in passing. Who had said something like that? Hmm…one of his co-workers, had to be. Valerie? Jean? Probably Jean, he watches a lot of news.
“OH yeeeah!” Akshay nodded as he snapped his fingers in remembrance. “Yeah, yeah, I remember. Jean, one of my co-workers, said that he’d been seeing less customers these days. Not many teens or youngins that are regulars have been coming by lately. Totally weird. He said it’s been happening but something like the news or police are trying to downplay how serious it is,” he shrugged as he returned to calculating the rest of Koga’s purchases. “Guy’s a totally conspiracy nut, though. Says lot of weird things have been happening in the city lately and its all connected. But, I dunno, guy’s a wound a bit TIGHT if you ask me,” as he said this he punched in the final number into his register. “Okay, $120, BUT since you’ve signed up for membership that will bring your price down tooooo…$110! Savings! Ya gotta love them.”

>> "No...I love you man!”
D’awww, wasn’t that sweet?!! Akshay had to admit that whoever this person was, they had BOTH proclaimed that they loved each other, and out loud! It was then that a random fact popped into his head: in some customs, when two people announce something like that, it means that there are not lashed together in wedded bliss!
…
…
Nuuuuuuuuuuu!!! his mind screamed.
He was too young to face the shackles of matrimonialhood, right? He was only 24 years old! He still had a long and very full life to lead! Even if this person had some pretty awesome dreadlocks, that did not mean that he was ready for something that serious! There was still dating, romance, conversations to be had! It was moving fast, far too fast for his drunken mind to comprehend of.
>> "Girls looking at the body, girls...haha! This is about MEEeee!"
He paused.
Wait…this girl’s a duuuude? Akshay asked himself curiously. He shuddered as he forced himself to stop dancing and focus long enough to stare at his partner. And a yooouuuuuung dude! Eww!
>> "You know I'm wiggly and I know it."
…
And that was Akshay’s cue to stagger away. He his was feeling overly fuzzy, as if it were absolutely swimming in alcohol. But try as he might he simply could not stop the drunken feeling. And Akshay was always careful about how much alcohol he drank because when he didn’t…well…he lost focus…
“What the HELL was that?” he asked…a little too loudly.
The word H-E-L-L began to form in the air behind him. The heavy looking word, lined with black and with an inside of iridescent white sparkled and took shape as it solidified. Akshay paid no attention until he turned around, trying to slap sense in himself. When he noticed it, it was too late to pluck it out of the air or shoo it away. The large word, about the length and width of a baseball bat, suddenly fell to the ground and shattered hard upon the ground.
He blinked, staring down at the broken remnants of the word.

The guy was interested in the books he was showing. Very interested, apparently. It looked as if he were drinking in all the volumes of graphic novels, as well as attempting to process absolutely everything that he had missed. Akshay could tell that he was a collector and big fan but if he were looking for all these things, it was obvious that he had been missing out for awhile. Where the hell was he? In a cave? It’s not like dedicated fans to neglect their pick-ups.
But he said nothing and merely watched as he began to pluck out items.
>> “Ok, well I will take thessse and I need I to order all the onesss I’m missssing from volume nine and up minusss thessse guysss…And I will ssstart both of thossse sssince I will be waiting on the othersss to ssship anyhow”.
Akshay nodded as he took out a small drawing pad in his back pocket as he started to jot down volumes and the numbers that his customer was going to be requesting. Big spender, but Akshay did not verbalize that. He was simply happy to have a comic aficionado that did not small of bean and cheese burritos all the time!
“Sounds like a plan, boss!” he said happily. His energy and mirth could be very infectious.
>> “My Name isss Ryuichi Koga, by the way, most people just call me Koga. Thanksss for the great sssugessstionsss”
“No problem! That’s why they pay me the big bucks! My name’s Akshay!” he replied as he displayed the nametag on his shirt. “Nice to meetcha! Just follow me to the counter so I can get your order set up.”
Akshay led the way back to the counter, flipping through his tiny drawing pad listed with the volumes that Koga would be ordering. As he headed back he had to wonder why kind of mutation this guy had? So far it was extremely interesting! His eyes were the most intriguing because they were solid black and for whatever reason the man spoke like a Kaa from that “Jungle Book” cartoon. Hmm…nope, he just couldn’t figure it out.
Akshay slipped behind his counter and pulled out his request pad, as well as a membership form for Koga.
“Well, welcome back to the fold, my friend!” he said cheerily. “Sorry you’ve been away from the comic-verse. Seems like it’s been a bit, if you don’t mind me saying,” he said as he looked over the list of volumes that Koga needed to catch up on.

So far, the day was pretty uneventful at the comic shop. He was sitting behind the counter, going over receipts while he played a DVD in the plasma TV was that was situated on the wall across from him. He was pretty good at his job so he always managed to get his most menial tasks done fairly quickly. Unfortunately, in doing so, it also left him with a fairly large chunk of the rest of his day blank. As much as Akshay wished he could leave, he could never get someone to cover for him last minute. At least not without owing them a huge favor.
Nope, instead Akshay usually just sat behind his counter, pretending to look busy while he watched whatever he wanted to watch on the wall-mounted plasma TV. Today he was feeling pretty nostalgic so he had decided to put on a Universal classic. The most awesome and best film from 1943, The Wolfman Meets Frankenstein! Akshay enjoyed the cheesy effects, the classic acting, all of it was just too much to pass up.
Besides, it made excellent background noise while he busied himself with the mediocre task of going through receipts from yesterday. Yeah, today was just going to be an average day. Slowly his mind began to drift away from the very pretty redhead he met the other day and gone was the fact that he had invited her over to see the comic he could have sworn she had stepped out from and the fact that he had invited her to lunch.
Well, not so much forgotten. It was more like he doubted she was going to actually show, so his mind, in order to protect him, let the idea slowly drift out of his head. After all, he doubted that a beautiful young woman like her would be interested in coming to the shop anyway. How many women actually take being confused for a comic character as a compliment?
“Nah, she won’t show,” he convinced himself, yet again.
It was already going to be 1:15pm so his belief in the idea was waning more and more. As much as he wanted to believe that she had some interest in him (after all, she didn’t slap him and that was always a good sign), he highly doubted it. No, the best thing he could do was to simply go about his day at work until it was time to close up.
Glancing up at the screen, he smirked as Lon Chaney began to transform into the wolfman under the full moon.
“Even a man, pure in heart who says his prayers at night, will become a wolf, when the wolfsbane blooms, and the moon is shining bright,” he muttered with a chuckle as he looked down at his receipts. “Classic lines, man,” he muttered as he continued his work.

This was the type of dancing that Akshay was actually pretty proficient at. For whatever reason, every other type of dance seemed absolutely out of his control. He tried salsa, he tried line, he even tried the Macarena! But somehow he just could not find the rhythm to dance to those beats. They eluded him like a mirage on the horizon of a desert. Akshay, despite his best intentions, simply could not achieve the proper dance steps!
But dubstep dancing…well…that was an entirely different beast. Akshay just…GOT this type of music. He was able to sync his body up with the beats, the tones, the erratic bursts of music. His brain was just hardwired for it.
Though he never REALLY liked to brag about his skill with this type of dancing, he always smirked whenever he saw the looks on people’s faces when he managed to wow them. They never expected it! And this young lady only strengthened his point…
>> “Holy crap,”
He beamed like a madman, though clearly not a creepy. He did not reply right away but instead continued with his dance. His rhythmic yet erratic look steps were definitely done to impress yet Akshay looked so lost in the music that he did not have time to revel in their shock and awe. Instead, all he could do was continue to dance, like there was a fire inside of his soul that could only be appeased when he danced. It was the only way to keep the fire within him, by forcing it to move throughout his limbs, torso, neck and head.
It was the fire within that truly gave him his gift…
When the music had begun to lull and fire inside lessened, he finally looked up to acknowledge the young lady he had been dancing to.
>> “W-wow….that’s actually really…good… Who are you?”
He smirked as the song finally began to dim lower, and lower, and lower until it finally faded from existence and Akshay, giving a little spin, stopped with a flourish and smirk. People around him cheered, clapped, or shouted congratulations on his skill. He waved to them all before he turned his attention back to the girl, after giving a large, dark skinned man a well-meaning high-five. He smiled his thousand-watt smile at her.
“Thank you! Can’t believe you had any doubts about my skill,” he smirked and winked. It did not sound as conceded as most would have assumed it should have sounded. Instead it sounded more like a playful joke, little more than that. As to her second question, he could only pose as one of his heroic comic book characters, arched his eyebrow comically and put on his silliest smirk. “You, young padawan! Can call me, Dance-Man!” he chuckled playfully before he took a more relaxed posture and nodded to her. “So, how about it? Care for a dance? Drink? Game of checkers?”

Akshay could only smile. From out of his peripheral he could see that many of the people had backed away from his position but he was not surprised. After all, they were intimidated by his great dance moves so it was of little wonder that they would want to give him a wide expanse of space to perform. Many were more than likely in such awe that they were willingly giving over their dance space to him, just so that they could watch and learn. If that were the case then he would definitely give a lesson or two they could learn from!
Still, he danced his modified salsa dance as he stood and watched this beauty simply staring at him. It was obvious that she was entranced by his awesome dance steps. What beautiful young woman wouldn’t be? Though he must not break out his more serious moves or he might overly intimidate her with his skill.
Instead, he still danced along to a beat that really did not exist in the song, a beat that only he could hear, as he smirked mirthfully at her.
It was then that he saw the smallest twitches of a smile at the corner of the pretty brunette’s lip. An encouraging sign, always…
>> “Where’d you learn to dance like that?”
“Ah, you know, some people just have a natural talent,” he grinned. “But all that means is that I simply have a greater responsibility to the world to teach others.”
He smiled, genuinely, as he stopped for a second to watch the young woman who seemed to be regarding him so curiously. Apparently she was not 100% enticed by his abilities. She was on the edge, she just needed a little shove to be truly impressed by him.
It was then that the next song came filtering through the speakers. Optimus Prime by Cookie Monsta echoed out through the dance floor and immediately began to take hold of people. It was a heavy, tech sounding beat. One that only the most experienced of people should ever take on.
The glint appeared in Akshay’s eye as he turned back to the interested young lady and nodded.
“You should really consider letting me teach you. You might even be able to do…this…”
As he said those last words, it seemed as if the music itself actually entangled him. Before long, Akshay pulled out the big guns and actually danced. And it was a dance that…well…Must be seen to be believed…

When Akshay had first turned, he thought little of how the teen was dressed. After all, it was New York and he saw the strangest sights all the time. But now, when he looked closely at the kid, he noticed that this was definitely not the normal type of appearance. And this was not simply make-up, a costume, or anything of the kind. No, the darker colored skin, the scales, the black eyes, all of it just screamed to Akshay that he was looking at a mutant right now!
For a moment he caught himself staring. Not in a judgmental or cruel way, but simply in a curious and almost awe-inspired way. So rarely did Akshay get this close to his fellow mutants that he reveled in every opportunity.
Huh…he really should take that tour of the mansion that Svetlana showed him. Prolly make this whole process a lot easier.
Ahem.
Akshay shook his head and returned to reality.
>> “No problem. and actually, yeah…I am looking for graphic novelsss of ‘the definitive Banissshed’, ‘definitive Arachnid’, ‘ unssstoppable eight’ and ‘midnight’ I am all the way back on volume eight of all four. I know it’sss been more than a year on mossst of thessse ssso I need to catch up, isss there anything elssse you’d recommend from Marvel?”
He whistled and nodded. “That this quite a collection. And you’re right, a LOT has happened since. Come on, friend!”
He was giddy. Rarely did he ever carry on conversations with mutants and when he did he simply loved it. So he was going to make sure to be extra nice to this kid in his pajamas (He still couldn’t figure out why he was wearing them).
With gusto Akshay led the teen over to a standing bookcase that was decorated with various superheroes and other comic characters. The shelf itself was lined with many, many graphic novels, all shelved as regular books with the titles glaring from their spines. The mixture of thick and thin novels from various independent and mainstream companies were all neatly organized and dated back through the past year. He did spend a lot of time organizing it. He nodded to the teen.
“Okay, we have a couple volumes of what you’re looking for,” Akshay said as he pointed them out, “Anything else we don’t have, we can back order for you if you become a member of our shop, only $10! And as for new stuff,” he grinned as he pulled out the first volumes of two marvel graphic novels. “I HIGHLY suggest ‘Civil Wartime’, shook up the whole verse, and ‘Secret Invaders’, another shake up. Second one is a little bit of a cope out, but fun to read nonetheless and the art style, well, can I just say, awwwwweeeesooooome.”

Akshay simply continued to grin as he watched his favorite video. He was only into some anime but that was not the reason that he enjoyed this video. He liked it because it was real people, real amateurs, doing a damn good job at making videos like this. A video which, by all means, completely rivals anything that the big budget movie industries could do. He hoped that these guys would one day be able to do a full length movie on their own.
He sighed as he watched, suddenly sensing the presence of someone nearby. Thankfully the person did not seem to want to disturb him but instead was watching the video with his own sense of interest.
>> "Not bad for amateursss, they look like they know how to handle the bladesss they carry at leassst. It can be hard not to pick apart theater. A couple of arrowsss from the tree line there would make ssshort work of them both."
Akshay laughed and nodded. He did not fully understand what the customer was talking about but he had to admit that he was right. Couple of archers in trees always made situations like that far more difficult. But Akshay shrugged it off and continued to watch.
Hey, the video was almost over. The customer could wait, especially since he was watching the video to.
When it was over he smirked as the credits ran and finally turned to face the customer. He tiled his head curiously. The man really seemed to enjoy wearing black. For a moment, Akshay could have sworn that the guy was cosplaying as some type of ninja. But he refrained from commenting. He could have just been some Goth kid of something.
“Sorry about that,” Akshay beamed helpfully. “So, how can I help you today sir? Looking for anything in particular?”

Akshay could not help the beat that began to undulate throughout his limbs. Though the coat was heavy, the armor heavier, the Wordsmith simply could not help the urge to dance that burn throughout his body. He needed to move, he needed to spin, he needed to laugh out loud as he felt the music fill up his entire being to the point that he simply did not know how to contain himself anymore. Dance, he needed to dance to put out the flames.
He didn’t know if it was simply the music, the alcohol in the air, or the mere glimpse of a blonde bombshell that slipped by him that did it, but whatever the case, Akshay was beginning to feel just slightly light headed. What was that? He would have LOVED to have gotten her name and number (even a fake one) but for whatever reason he couldn’t think straight.
He felt good.
He felt warm.
He felt…drunk?
But…that was impossible. He had not even had a full beer yet! But try as he might to understand it, he simply couldn’t. He just felt too damn good!
“This sooongs about meeee!” he giggled and laughed as he danced about. But before he knew it, some younger, dreadlocked kid stumbled against him and slurred just as badly…
>> "I love you."
Blink…Blink…
Suddenly Akshay laughed loudly and still danced but with his new partner!
“OH…my…GOD…” he giggled drunkenly. “I love you too!! HAHAHA!”

To put it simply, it was a slow day for Akshay Malik. No phone calls, no new shipments except for some fliers and promotional Blue Torch Power Rings, he was already done with his back stock so….needless to say, he was bored. Thankfully, the “One Comic to Rule Them All” shop was pretty lax on what their employees could watch while they were working. Thankfully with little to no customers into the shop today, Akshay could put on whatever it was he felt like watching. Normally this would mean “Star Wars” or “Lord of the Rings” or something of that sort, but Akshay was in a different mood.
Today, he needed music…
Today, he needed action…
Today, he needed martial arts fighting…
He had the perfect solution to all of that. Thankfully the Plasma TV that was situated against the opposite wall of his counter also had wi-fi capabilities. All this meant was that he would log onto ViewTube to view whatever it was he wanted to view. And he had just the thing in mind.
Grabbing the wireless keyboard, Akshay yawned as he flipped on the TV and began used the keyboard to access him to ViewTube and search for the compilation he felt he desperately needed to see. With a grin he typed away until finally his show came on.
He set the keyboard down and smirked as Boogie Woogie Feng Shui No. 5 came onto his screen. Automatically set to full screen, he smirked as the music filtered in through the hidden speakers of the establishment and the sights and sounds of martial arts fighting flashed before his eyes.
So enraptured with his show he barely realized that someone else had watched into the store. As an exciting sword fight started, he smirked as he dangled the fliers for next Saturday’s “Free Comic Day” before him and blindly nodded to the newcomer he still had not turned to face.
“Welcome to One Comic to Rule Them—“ a death blow on screen interrupted him. “OH! Noiiiice!”

Okay…so Akshay made a mistake.
Yes, he was at a New Years Party.
And yes, he knew it just supposed to be good times for all.
And YES, there was some pretty casual wear and some people wore a snazzy outfit or two.
But NO…it wasn’t not a costume party. When Akshay first walked into the club dressed as a his favorite character from a certain cartoon about an Airbender, he had assumed that everyone was just there in simple costumes. Never in his wildest dreams did he assume that his co-worker at the comic shop had read the flier to him wrong. Instead he simply assumed that he had spent far more time on his costume and would therefore be more ready for the ladies.
But nope, that was not the case at all. Instead, Akshay was the only person who dressed up in an overly black furry coat and battle armor that he had pieced together and sewn himself! Now he just looked like a cosplaying nerd that had wandered into a 2012 party!
Standing at the back of the dance floor, nursing an Appletini, Akshay watched as the people danced, as men smirked at him and as women eyed him curiously. Hmm, so he was a bit…oddly dressed, but that only meant that the attention was on him! It drew the ladies’ eyes to him and gave them a longer chance to survey him in all his awesomeness! Who was he to deny them a closer and more in-depth look of his person?
With a sly grin, Akshay took another sip of his drink and began to make his way to the dance floor, bopping his head and grooving along with the music. Before long he could no longer help the urge to dance that began to explode throughout his body and limbs…
…It was time to dance!! With furry coat, armor, and all!

>> "Sure. Many people end up there anyway. It is a good place for mutants…well, most of them. I only visit sometimes."
Slightly crushing that she only visited this mutant school from time to time, but hey, sometimes was better than never at all. He wondered if he had gone there that he would run into her? That would be quiet a fun to time. Maybe she could personally show him around so that he would meet his fellow mutants as well as hang out with his absolutely favorite person in the world!
Yes, the circle of seduction was growing and before long she would finally understand her feelings for him…
>> "There, Just tell them I sent you…Um, my name is Svetlana. People call me Sveta."
He took the paper from her hands, grinning, happy, on top of the world…
Wait…what? She was just sending him there? On his own? Without…HER?! The whole concept just sent him for a whirl. Just, what was going on here? He was under the impression that she was telling him this so that they could go together, so that she could personally give him a tour of the place and she was just going to send him off and leave him in the capable hands of another?
