The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> "I think it would make sense. I've never talked to you before, but you can talk, and I can talk, so probably we speak different languages, and I've just gotten a new ability…So it would make sense that we see differently, and see different types of grime."
Akshay had to nod. He couldn’t argue with common sense like that. Maybe seeing grime did really only come down to perspectives. After all, it was not like he spoke to many ceilings in their life. Where he may see “grime”, a ceiling may see as a badge of honor! How was he supposed to know? He was not born a ceiling so it was world he would never understand.
>> "Well, I'm not sure. Not that long. And a little bit interesting. I've met lots of interesting people, anyway, but not much has happened to me. Except when meeting them…I guess I have, only the interesting is just in little episodes where my life overlaps with a more interesting one."
“Overlapping with one more interesting? Well…that does make sense.” He nodded.
In a way he guessed that had to be the only way that a ceiling could have interesting stories, is when something interesting walked underneath it. It was not like the ceiling could just up and walk to the nearest person and say hi. That was obviously impossible. Therefore the only way that a ceiling COULD meet someone would be to wait until someone interesting walked somewhere underneath them. Or even on top of them.
But wait…when walking on a ceiling…doesn’t that just make it a floor? He paused at the thought. Shaking his head he decided to save question for later. Instead he merely tilted his head and peered closely at the ceiling.
“So…am I the only one who can hear you talking? I mean, it’s not like this type of conversation is very common.” he noted.

Akshay did not see the word plucked out of the air. Instead the word-speaker had barely had time to notice as a couple of large, burly men grabbed him by his shoulders, as well as the kid with the dreadlocks who was dancing, and began to drag him towards the door! For a moment Akshay felt like he was some psychotic in a mental institution about to be locked away, screaming, for the rest of his natural life. But he quickly reassured himself that this was not going to be the case. At most they would kick him out the door.
But why? That was what totally sucked! He didn’t mean to cause a scene! He was just a little drunk and it was New Year’s Eve so what was to be expected? Damn double standards! Though Akshay did not know HOW he exactly had this drunken feeling, he did know that this was still unfair. After all, he had done nothing wrong but let his powers slip once…okay maybe twice. Maybe this place was just that strict about keeping powers holstered?
Well, he would have plenty of time to think about this as they were dragging both him and the teen with the dreads away from the party and towards the exit. So much for having a fun night.
But just as he was being dragged away someone attempted to intervene…
>> "whoa whoa whoa fellas, you don't know who I am…Let us wait it out in the VIP, I'm good for the fee…It's new years, Lets get along, let us into the lounge, if we cause too much trouble there, throw us out. you get your tips, the waitress in the lounge makes more the club makes more, everybodies happy."
Akshay looked through his beer googled eyes at the man who was trying to help them. He claimed he was a big shot but no matter how hard Akshay squinted his eyes, he really could not tell who the man was. Was he an actor? A musician? Some kind of young entrepreneur? Akshay simply could not place his face.
Then he saw the bills being flashed. That obviously got the bouncer’s attention. The guards were practically salivating to get some of that money. After all, what did they care if a couple of VIPs were acting stupid? So long as they were out of the way and isolated, right? The bouncers released their grip on him just a tad and he slumped a little. They were still uneasy about letting him go, obviously, but they still managed it.
>> “Could we get an escort there?"
He arched a brow but had to grin at the guy. He was slowly beginning to sober up the man was proving to be quite nice. He hoped this was not all part of some nefarious plan to earn his trust and then leave him in a tub of ice with his kidney freshly cut out. But…that was crazy…right? Ahem.
Before he knew it, both him and the teen with the dreads were led into a very private room at the top of some staircase. The bouncers were gone and he shakily looked left and right before his eyes settled on the man. He gave him a nod.
Akshay grinned.
“You…are SUCH a lifesaver!” he grinned.
Though, still inebriated, Akshay could already feel that pull at the back of his head as the word “LIFESAVER” began to hover up in the air between them. Quickly, though, he waves his arms through the word and caused it to disperse into the ether. He smiled innocently at the man and his date who were sure to have seen the word.

>> "Oh, well…It was hard not to, really. I don't think I'm very quiet, normally, except when I don't have anyone to talk to, and that doesn't count, really."
Akshay had to smirk. The ceiling had quite a sense of humor. He had to disagree because he always felt that ceilings were never very vocal. This is the first time he has ever held a conversation with one, anyways. The only times that has ever changed is when he is sitting in his apartment, listening to the sounds of his upstairs neighbors stomping around or “squeaky” their cheap bed. In his experience except for those few moments, the ceiling was a rather silent individual.
It was for that reason alone that Akshay was actually lying here, listening to the expansive creature speak to him. He wondered if it was just him, or if the whole store was actually hearing the ceiling talk. That would be a trip if everyone did.
>> "You're quite welcome…And oh, no, not in a long time, I wash myself. Most people do, really, unless they're very young or very old…I don't see much grime on me. Maybe we see different types of grime?"
He arched a brow. The ceiling could wash itself? H-How was that even possible? Maybe the sprinklers but it did not make sense for the ceiling to actually light a fire to give itself a quick bath. He doubted the ceiling even had opposable thumbs!
“Uh…maybe. I think I’m sure I see some, right there in that crease,” he shrugged. “But whatever. So, ugh, you must have, like ALL kinds of crazy stories. Led a long and interesting life and such?”

Still slightly in a daze, Akshay sighed as he stared up at the ceiling. Though somewhere in the back of his mind he knew that it was silly that it was actually speaking to him. But he DID hear a voice didn’t he? By the process of logic it made absolutely perfect sense that the ceiling was speaking to him. After all, he was lying sprawled out on his back, staring upward and then heard a voice greet him rather cordially. What else could he do was respond back in just as nice a way?
After all, it was rude to just left conversations hang in the air.
>> "I'm alright, thank you. A little confused, but that's fine. I don't normally get to talk to you, I think."
He smirked. “Me either. You’re…usually so quiet. I’m…surprise you actually noticed me right now.”
Insanity! This had to be insanity but on the off chance it wasn’t, smirked as he went along with the conversation. It was an opportunity he really did not want to pass up and, on top of that, he would have hated to offend the ceiling. The last thing he needed was to offend it and have it suddenly hurl itself down upon his head. Or have it spread rumors about him to other ceilings and have them do the same!
It was a domino effect he wanted no part of. So he smiled wide and smirked at the ceiling. A happy Akshay was a safe Akshay.
>> "No, not really, I'm actually feeling quite low at the moment. That's okay, though, it's quite interesting…You look quite... bright, yourself."
He chuckled in response, his arms still lying limply at his sides.
“Hah, such a kidder,” he joked. “And thank you for the compliment! I can’t, you know, believe you noticed. Um…wow, no offense but…you have quite a bit of grim on you. Does no one wash you? That’s a crying shame if so.”

The moves were awesome. His beat was perfect. His voice sang true. But…for whatever reason, fate was simply not on his side. Truly enraptured by the music, Akshay was halfway down the aisle, moonwalking and making absolutely every dancer in the world jealous when his world suddenly took a turn. The first notice that something was wrong was when, as he backslid, the calf of his leg suddenly caught on something that was in his way. Normally Akshay is good at perceiving his surroundings but he was far to into his music. Before the artist knew it all he felt was air under his feet.
Once his leg lost strength and leaned back too far, the rest of Akshay’s body began to follow. Back leaning too far, arms flailing to catch anything that was not air, other foot sticking up far too much to balance him out, nope, that was the end of the discussion. Akshay Malik, on this day, was going to fall.
Arms flailed for a second more, almost as if he were trying to catch flight but all of it was for no use. Unable to help himself any further, Akshay fell, straight for the ground.
THUD!!!
With a loud THUD he fell onto his back, hard on the ground and skid for half a second. For that moment Akshay had absolutely no bearing on what was up or what was down. All that he could decipher about his world was that now his back was extremely sore and cold from the hard tiled ground, and he was staring up at the ceiling. As his mind began to clear, he could still hear were the sounds of the music being fed into his ears.
Weakly, sorely, he pulled the earbuds from his ears and groaned again as he stared up to the ceiling. What the hell just happened?
>> "...Oh. Hi…How are you?"
He blinked.
W-Was the ceiling just talking to him? Did he have a concussion or something? Another futile blink as he stared at the expansive ceiling, Akshay simply decided to go with it. After all, how many people are given the opportunity to speak to a ceiling?
He shrugged.
“I’m doing well, thank you,” he muttered to the ceiling. “Yourself? Looking a little…high aren’t you?”

The rose was held out and just as soon as Emerald caught sight of, Akshay was that familiar blush again. He just grinned wide as he saw her expression. To know that he caught that wolf-girl off her guard again, with a smile that was so wide he was sure that he was sure it was going to hurt her in the morning, it just made him feel a tad bit giddy. Yes, he was a dork, yes he was rather nerdy, and sure, he wasn’t the best looking guy in the world, but it made him feel good to know that he could do things that a woman of her caliber could enjoy.
And it was obvious that he was not classing Emerald on her looks alone (Sure she was a knock out) but also just her whole demeanor. Anyone else would have been terrified of her breaking their heads in but Akshay never was smart enough for his own good. Why though, he was not sure. Maybe it really was because she looked like his character. Maybe he just saw something different in her when he was sketching her.
Whatever the case it did not change the fact that he liked her. He hoped that it would work out.
>> "Wouldn't missed this doodle boy, a werewolf never breaks a promise,"
He smirked and nodded his head appreciatively.
“I’ll make sure to make a note of that for future reference,” he said with a smirk. It was good to know. Not the tidbit, but the fact she spoke so openly about herself and her powers. Most of the mutants he had ever met hid their abilities, so few actually embraced them. Emerald, on the other hand, she was different.
And he really did like different because he himself was different.
Then, she kissed him on the cheek. Akshay grinned, and wide. There was little he could do to stop it because it seemed as if the muscles on his face were on autopilot. The kiss was soft, sweet, something that would not have been expected from someone with as tough and exterior and Emerald definitely exuded. But Akshay knew he saw something, some spark in her when he met her at the park. So far this she-wolf had some surprises that he could not wait to run into.
>> "So, where are we going?"
He just smirked.
“That’s for me to know and you to eventually find out!” He beamed as he slipped his thin backpack onto his back. Adjusting his helmet under his arm he picked up the keys to the shop and decided that he could close it early this one time! After all it was not like they were going to miss the sale of the century. He began to lead the way towards the door, where he would open it for her, as such the gentleman he was. “So, I hope you’re okay with motorcycles, like, you’re not terrified of them or anything.”

Now, the question of the day was, how could Akshay adequately ink his latest issue of “Slaagathor” without ink? The answer: he couldn’t! Unfortunately that meant that Akshay was going to have to go hunting for his ink supplies. Most of his he grabbed for art stores because the quality of ink they had a the more mainstream places like Target-Mart or Staples, rarely carried exactly what he needed. For ink inking purposes he preferred India ink since it tended to dry quickly and rarely bled through his pages. So, today, he was on the hunt!
Arriving at the front door of the establishment, Akshay was dressed simply in jeans, black sneakers and a black t-shirt that had whites silhouettes of Godzilla being walked on a leash by a man. He thought it was funny and therefore it really needed to be worn.
Strutting into the establishment, Akshay danced briefly to music that was filtering in through the iPod earbuds that were stuck in his ears. He slipped off his glasses, nodded to the man who worked behind the counter and continued to dance his way through the store. Apparently the entire store was now his dance floor.
Akshay made an interesting figure. An independent comic artist with a talent for dancing, he strutted his stuff as he spun and slide through the aisles. The music in his iPod was so loud though that customers, both young and old, could probably make it out clearly.
The Bodyrockers I Like The Way You Move poured out through his headphones as he danced on. Akshay looked like such a free spirit and for all purposes, he really was. He enjoyed his life, despite the few downers he had, but he refused to remain focused on them. Life needed to be lived and it needed to be enjoyed. As always he felt that people just needed to do things that kept them the most happy. For Akshay, that including dancing, music and art.
With a grin, Akshay sliiiiiiide into the “Ink” aisle with a little turn and slowly began to moonwalk down the rows. As he did so, the young artist paid no attention to where he was going.
SlideSlideSlide
“Most of alllllll…I like the way you Moooooooooove…”
He moonwalked, bobbing his head, and paid no attention to the redhead that was leaningg and looking at ink…

Akshay was still trying to sober up but he really just didn’t know how he was drunk to begin with! He didn’t even have a drink yet and all of a sudden he felt as absolutely high as a kite! What the hell was going on here? The worst part of all this, not the dancing with a wiggling young man, but the fact that because of his new found inebriation, he did not have a strong a control over his powers as he normally did. It much like the time when Sveta walked into his comic shop, he was going to be dropping words the entire night if he was not careful.
The young mutant did his best to keep himself from talking, but as he staggered on his two feet, he found that the drunken feeling could not be easy to shake off. This was getting ridiculous. But the worst of all was that directly after he had said the word “HELL” and watched it shatter against the ground, the music ground to a halt. He paused, wide-eyed as he looked about the room. The music started up into the next song but it was quickly interrupted by powers that were far beyond his control.
“Eep!” he squeaked the second he felt the eyes of the bouncers all fall upon him.
He thought this place was mutant friendly but for whatever reason he was being targeted. Just, absolutely great! Of course in the long list of mutants and their powers, HE would be the one that gets targeted! His power was not even dangerous and yet for whatever reason these people decided that he needed to be escorted out? He was not even being the most OBNOXIOUS one in here?
But tried as did to wrap his head around the issue, in his drunken state it simply was not happening. With a shaky step to the side, he put on his best smile, trying to no get on the bouncer’s bad sides and just beamed.
“Sup guys? A-Anything wrooong?” he slurred.
Unfortunately his brain knew exactly what he was saying and before he knew it he watched with blurry eyes as the word “G-U-Y-S” began to form itself in the air between both himself and the oncoming bouncers. He winced because as much as he wanted to reach out and wave the word away before it could fully form, a queasiness began to overtake him in his drunken state.
Akshay held his stomach as he waivered. This was SO not a good night…

>> "You have, no Idea, it wasn't a complete waste of time, I learned a lot of interesting things."
Hey, at least you got something good out of it, man. I mean it would have sucked to have been away from our modern enjoyments and end it not getting anything out of the trip.” he said truthfully. “At least that’s the way I see it. Good for you though!”
Akshay began to bag the rest of Koga’s comic into a “One Comic To Rule Them All” shopping bag. As he did he had to admit that he was a bit curious as to why Koga was so interested in the disappearances. He didn’t seem distraught enough to be looking for someone that could have possibly been a missing brother or sister. Was it just idle curiosity? Maybe he was a journalism student trying to investigate? By the looks of him, Akshay could not tell. But he was not nosy enough to just pry into another man’s issues. Instead he would just let the ideas bounce around in the back of his head.
>> "yeah, That'll work…Do you think you could put me in touch with Jean? I've got nothing to go on right now and even a conspiracy theory would be more than I have to work with now."
He arched a brow. Curious indeed.
“Sadly, I can’t give out personal contact info,” he said with a small smile. He then leaned in with a grin. “Gotta protect the staff, you know. But…umm…” he turned and he began to fish around the counter. When he was finally done he held up a small business card and dusted it off. Akshay then handed the card out to Koga. “Here. Jean belongs to a band called ‘PCH’. That card as an e-mail contact he always checked. You can reach him through there. Just don’t tell him I gave you the card.”

>> "Well, I, um... I don't spend much time there…because, you know. My mutation. Some kids are hyper on their own, they don't need me to overboost them. We are talking about teenagers here."
“Ooooooooh, makes sense,” Akshay said with a nod.
In truth he really did understand what the Svetalana was talking about. After all he was a victim of her powers too and it took every bit of focus to keep his powers at bay. He could only imagine what would happen to a school full of mutants that could scarcely control their powers to being with and to have someone like Sveta saunter in. Pure and complete and utter mayhem would ensue. For a moment he was thankful that she did not spent a lot of time there cause he could imagine the place exploding like a bomb.
But still…a place devoid of her? He simply could not imagine it.
She looked resistant still, as if she simply were not sure about him. As much as he wanted to console her, he knew that he must not appear too forceful or, like a delicate fawn, she could bound away into the underbrush when startled.
Akshay felt like he needed to apologize for his forwardness but that quickly proved to not be necessary.
>> "But, sure. If you come visit when I happen to be there, I can show you around. I can't check you in or anything, they have people for that there, but... yeah. I think you'll like the place."
Akshay just grinned, and grinned in a very pleased but not overly creepy way. “Really?” He liked the idea of a gamble. She may or may not be there and if she were she could show him around herself? That was completely awesome. Now he just needed to figure out when she WOULD be there. But he did not show those thoughts on his face. Instead he just nodded respectfully. “That…definitely sounds like a date.” He smirked. “I look forward to it.”

Akshay was barely listening to the movie anymore. He had seen it far too many times to the point that he had it nearly committed to memory. By just listening to it he could see everything that happened on screen within his own mind. He just had that type of attention span for movies, comics, and music. He wondered if maybe that had something to do with his own abilities, but Akshay did not think too long about it. He knew some about his powers, but obviously not all. Maybe one day he’d know if there was a connection.
For now though, he was counting and calculating receipts. As he did so, he heard the sound of the front door to his shop opening but he didn’t bother to look up. He was in the middle of counting, you know.
“Be with you in a second,” he announced as he continued to count receipts.
But as he did so, something just seemed to try to draw his attention. At first it felt like a vibration in the air that he simply could not explain. Whatever it was though, he was having a tough time on his receipts. It was not until it grew closer that he caught the sight of a flash of red out of the corner of his eyes. That was enough to make him lift his gaze.
Breath caught in his throat, he nearly jumped when he noticed that Emerald, the wolf-girl, was actually standing there, at his counter, smirking playfully.
>> “So is this how you prep for all the dates you have with the pretty wolf girls, watch old Wolfman films,”
“Huh?” he asked a little mindlessly. It took a second but at the sound of a howl from the screen he suddenly remembered what he had been watching. He just grinned a little shrugged his shoulders a bit playfully. “Oh, heh, well, you’d be surprised how helpful the strategy is. Unleashing the primal animal within, and all that jazz.”
Cheesy, he knew that, but it was enough to put a smile on their faces. And it proved as enough of a distraction give him a chance to let it sink in that Emerald had actually shone up. He hadn’t been stood up after all and that was sincerely the best news. A weight lifted from his shoulders and he smirked as he watched the redheaded beauty.
>> “So, still up for that date?”
“Yeah. I mean, of course!” He beamed like a child on Christmas morning. “Just, um, let me grab a couple things.”
Slipping out from behind the counter, Akshay walked backward briefly, watching her momentarily as he was still surprised that she was here. Once he reached the door to the offices, Akshay, while still watching Emerald, attempted to walk through but apparently forgot to turn the knob. SLAM! He the door pretty hard but turned his wince into a not very well masked stretch. Yes, he meant to do that all along. Ahem.
“Sorry, sorry! Be right back!” he said as he did actually UNOPEN the door and slip inside.
Akshay was gone for only maybe five minutes before he finally reappeared. He was dressed rather simply but still nice enough for a casual date, or at least so he hoped. He finished buttoning up his gray sweater over his green t-shirt and smoothed out his jeans. As he did so he adjusted an orange and black backpack over his shoulder and carried a smooth, black motorcycle helmet small, orange LED lights and looked like something out of a sci-fi movie. But it went well with his silver ducati he had parked outside.
He only smirked as he pulled his backpack in front of him and pulled out a single, green rose. A little awkwardly he walked up to her and held it out.
“I’m, heh, glad you showed. Little flower here would have probably wilted otherwise,” he said with a smile.

>> “S’my first time here. I had a date but…he turned out to be a real creep…Story of my life, really,”
Tragic, utterly tragic, was all Akshay could think. Why did all the pretty ones end up going out with the creeps? It was completely unfair and in no way was it good for already weak relations between men and women. Whoever this “creep” was, was definitely making a bad name for good intentioned men such as himself.
She looked off in the distance and Akshay debated whether or not to pursue the issue. It was obviously a sore subject because, after all, who likes being left behind at a club when a date was supposed to be going on? Unfortunately Akshay had his fair share of those but because of his humor he knew how to deal with it. Lydia, well, she was not weak, but it was painfully obvious that she was not a funny as himself. Poor thing.
He hoped his mouth to offer his condolences again when suddenly the bartender returned with their drinks in hand. Akshay took the Heineken with a grateful look and watched as he gave the lime vodka to Lydia with still a suspicious look on his face. Akshay did not have time to question the bartender’s look because someone else down at the far end of the bar was waving for his attention.
Once he was gone, Akshay simply shrugged off the man’s look and took a sip of his beer. The combination of talking and dancing back there had left him a little parched. Thankfully, as the beer washed down his throat, it revitalized him as he turned back to Lydia was sipping her drink as well. She definitely seemed to be enjoying it.
She then smirked as she turned her gaze back to him.
>> “Art school, huh? What kind of artist are you?”
The ladies always love the artistic type. It was a cliché but he was thankful he was an artist!
He shrugged modestly as he took one last sip before he said his bottle down to turn his attention to her fully.
“Eh, I dabble in a lot of things: still life, sketch, charcoal, digital,” he explained. All true terms, but he hoped she did not think he was just throwing out random artsy sounding things. “I like a lot of mediums. My favorite though is penciling and inking. That’s actually how I make my living,” he grinned a little proudly. Not obnoxiously, but really happy with his line of work. “I’m an independent comic book artist. I produce a series that currently running.”
Well it was only popular amongst the indie circles; but popularity was popularity, right?

>> “I’m Lydia. Shorten it however you like…I guess it’s nice to meet you too.”
“Aww, you guess?” a mock look of hurt appeared on his face. “Breaking my heart, Lydia.”
The look of hurt did not last though before it broke in a small smile. He really did not know if she was joking. There was a tinge of…something in her voice. Whatever it was, he could not identify off the bat. Irritation? Boredom? Fear that he was a closet Trekkie? Or was she really just playing? If she was then she was damn good at it. Akshay could feel, though, like he was losing her. What did he really have to say to a young beauty like her?
He remembered his friend from college, Jean. The first time he took him to a club he told him, ”Be yourself, man! Don’t try hard!” Of course that was after Jean had a few drinks in him and also abandoned him for more than half the night.
That was why Akshay started dancing. That was why he was so good at it. He needed to do something to be noticed.
They waited for the drinks and Akshay bopped his head briefly to the music before he noticed that Lydia had given him another glance. Studying him like she was a scientist and he was an amoeba in a petri dish. For half a second he felt awkward, eyebrow raised, before she finally spoke again.
>> “So, you come here often?”
“Oh yeah!” Akshay replied with a pleasant nod. “Since art school. My buddies and I used to come here to unwind. Be surprised how good dancing is for the soul the night before finals.” He chuckled. “What about yourself? Don’t think I’ve seen you around here before. I’d surely remember.” He beamed in a friendly manner.
