The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The young woman quickly shifted back into her human form and slipped on the shorts before anyone even walked by the alleyway. She wasn't sure which form felt more natural for her. There were good and bad to each. Deirdra personally knew that having the body of a scorpion wasn't attractive. It had been obvious since the very first time it happened, but it was very useful and she was proud of her unique mutation. Not to mention the fast that her toxin could only be made in the scorpion form. That was sometimes a bit of a setback.
The blond thought it was adorable how the man tried to warn her to be careful. She had to admit that he was quite the gentlemen, even if he did sort of look like a woman. In all honesty, Deirdra just liked attention in general and any attention to her, was good attention. She didn't care if it was a woman or not, but it never went far past kissing or the like. She was quite sure she liked men, it had been clear to her for a while now.
Deirdra turned around at the mention of a mansion. "No, I don't like at a mansion. I live in an apartment complex not far from here." A pause. "You live at a mansion? May I ask what it's like?" She tilted her head and slung her purse over her shoulder, but not before a smirk at the 'lovely' comment. "Why, thank you, Juka. I must say you're pretty good-looking yourself. If you'll follow me this way, I will assist you in your escorting of myself." She laughed. "I fgure it would be easier to do if you knew where my house was."

Deirdra glanced at one woman, then the other out of the corners of her eyes. Bring the glass to her lips, she chugged down about half of what was left before banging it loudly against the bar. She hadn't hit hard enough to break it, but it had made enough noise to cause most of the bar to look at her. Loosening her grip, she began to shake with anger at the thought of babies being murdered. Her voice had a quiet loathing about it as she spoke. "Mutations are gifts. Maybe they did come into exsistence because of people's sins. If that's true, then that just means I have an excuse to hurt them all." As she said the word "all", a picture of her father and stepmother popped into her mind. Images of random people entered her mind and she starting to feel like she needed to punch someone in the face, repeatedly, with her stinger.
She put her left hand over her face in an attempt to calm down. Her breath was shallow and quick from the anger. The hand was also to prevent other people's seeing of her emotions. Slowly moving the fingers away from her blue eyes, she sighed. Deirdra slapped her right hand against the bar. "Screw it. Hey bartender, tequila please." The man raised an eyebrow at her once more. "Do you want anything mixed in with that or--" He didn't get to finish. The blone stood up and looked the man in the eyes. "Just get me the freaking drink. I don't feel like causing a scene, so just do it." He blinked a few times and ran to get her drink. She sat back down, as if she hadn't just yelled.
After she was situated, the woman glared at a couple down the bar further, who were giving the scorpion lady a very nervous look. The two got up from their seats and exited 'The Grey Moose' in quite a hurry. She flipped her blond hair behind her shoulders and watched as the bartender sat her drink in front of her. All of a sudden, the young woman acted as if she had never threatened the man. "Thank you so much. You'll have to excuse my horrible attitude. I've had a rough night." He noded and walked away. Under her breath she added, "and life." Turning her attention to the other two female mutants, she gulped down a good portion of her drink. "Sorry for the little outbursts. I just had some horrible memories surface." She paused. "In all honesty, I hate humans. I hate everything about them. Everything."

Van stated that he worked at a book store. The blond raised an eyebrow at him. “Really? Sounds more interesting than this, but I think this makes more money. I can’t be sure though.” She smirked. “Who knows? Maybe you’re raking in twice as much as me.” It seemed like most people her age were already doing something they wanted to, or at least getting closer to it. Deirdra still felt at arms length from her dream job. Like Van’s extended, freakishly long reach. The woman doodled on a notepad that was used for taking down appointments.
Deirdra couldn’t help but notice that the teen seemed very nervous. Well I can’t blame him. I did say something a little scary. She set down her pencil and smiled at the boy. "I know that just saying it won't put you at ease, but I don't go around hurting people. It's not something I do on a regular basis." The blond paused. "I only you violence when I see no other way out or just don't care to find one. Sometimes humans only respond to violence. It's unfortunatre, but true." She shrugged and looked back down at the pad. Scrunching her eyes, she tilted her head, trying to see if every aspect was correct in the quick sketch.
Dr. Stevens walked out with a woman who appeared to be in her 40s. "Okay Sharlene, you take care. Why don't you make an appointment with Ms. Sykes for about 6 months, okay?" He gave her a friendly smile and patted her on the back in a gentle, friendly manner. The dentist turned and made eye-contact with Van. "Sorry to keep you waiting, young man. Come on back and I'll take a look at those teeth of yours. I'm sure Ms. Sykes kept you good company though. She's a pretty and the best secretary I've ever had." He nodded at Deirdra and she waved at him.
The dentist walked back into his office, expecting the teen to follow. The blond smiled at Van. "By the way, that's a very interesting ability you have. I'm glad to hear that someone else believes what I can do is useful." She was hinting at their mutation discussion, but wouldn't say it directly sense the older woman was now with them in the lobby. " Have a nice teeth cleaning."

The man now seemed to glow at the mention of his own power. She thought it was great to see such pride in one's abilities. Deirdra had to admit, she had never seen a giant, floating bubble for a mutation. She had more questions about the odd power, but could ask later, if time allowed. Juka asked what she was doing out by herself and also threw the word 'radiant' in there, which made her grin. "Well, I was trying to take a walk after getting done with work, but it seems that these two wanted a fight." The woman glanced at the two stunned mutants.
She was going to turn back into her original form, but the lack of pants kind of threw a wrench in the plan. "Excuse me a moment." The blond began to dig around in her bag. Please be pants, please be pants. With a sigh of relief, the woman pulled out a pair of shorts. They didn't seem to match her shirt and they appeared to be more like women's boxer-underwear. It didn't matter to her that much though, so she would make do with what she could. "I would love an escort, if you would turn around a second to let me put pants on and get out of this form." She held the shorts up so he could see them and smiled. "it should only take a minute or so."

Deirdra beamed when he complimented her tail. It flicked slightly when it was mentioned and she laughed. “Look, it likes you,” she joked. “No, I wouldn’t kill them for something that really didn’t pose a threat in the first place, especially since they’re mutants.” She didn’t add that it might’ve been different if they had been human, but it was implied. Her hatred of the race wasn’t really something she wanted to, or would, discuss with someone she barely knew that obviously went around trying to save people.
She couldn’t help but smile when he recommended carrying an extra skirt with her. “Yeah, I’ve thought of that too, but I’d still be a little bare before I got the chance to put it on. I’m thinking that maybe someday I should find someone to make me scorpion pants or something that alters as I do, though I’m not sure if that’s possible or not.” The blond tapped her chin with her right pointed finger in thought and then finally shrugged, giving up on the subject.
The man didn’t give his name, though she was pretty sure he had yelled it earlier. “Did you say your name was Juka Miami? I’m going to take a guess and say you’re Japanese, yes?” There was a brief pause. “I, personally, am a bit of a mutt, so to speak. I’m of too many descents to be identified.” Deirdra smiled. He bowed inside his bubble and informed her of the heaviness of the anvils. “I would guess they are pretty heavy. That bubble of yours must be very strong to be able to hold them.”

The young woman glanced up and noticed that Van looked a little nervous. She laughed and shook her head. "Don't worry, I have no desire to hurt you and I probably never will. That's even more true now that I know you're a mutant. I don't make a habit to hurt kids either. That's just cruel." Deirdra picked up a file and turned it over, trying to figure out what it was for and her brow crinkled. After a moment of searching, the blond sighed and threw it to the side. "It must not be that important if it has no label. The woman here before me wasn't very organized and Dr. Stevens fired her. I ended up having to apply so I could afford to attend college." Another sigh, but this time it sounded more irritated.
The teen seemed like he was making an effort to converse and Deirdra appreciated it. "If possible, do something more interesting with your life. I'm going to school for illustrating." She gave a normal smile and this time it was authentic. "I love to draw. It keeps me out of trouble." The blonde winked at him and grabbed another file. She opened it and tossed in a few papers before placing it back into the cabinet. "I'm not sure why Dr. Stevens is taking so long. I know he's in there with a patient, but I was pretty sure it was supposed to be routine, hm. You aren't in a hurry or anything are you? I could go check back there if you are. I don't mind getting out from behind this desk once and a while." She fidgeted in her chair for a moment. "I get stiff." The blond sighed. "Man, that makes me sound old. 22 isn't that old."
She turned and looked at Van. "So can you stretch your legs and torso too? I bet that could come in handy." Deirdra pictured the boy stretching out to reach something that normally couldn't be attained by normal arms. She also thought it would be convenient if you were in a store and they put something you really wanted all the way at the top. The woman had always hated that. It always had a sign that said to ask for assistance, but that seemed a little silly to her. Why not just put it where your customers could reach? When she had finished thinking to herself, she smiled at the teen. "I can turn my lower half of my body into a scorpion. Now that's a useful mutation, am I right?"

The man/woman floated down closed and Deirdra grinned. "No, I don't really need rescuing, but it was a very sweet thought." The longer the woman looked, the more certain she was that this person was a man and he seemed concerned. He asked if the two mutants were still alive. The blond nodded. "Yes, of course. I only stung them once and it would take three doses of my toxin to kill them. It just makes a nice stun-gun." Deirdra inched her way back towards her purse and picked it up. Turning around, she smiled. "It's a pretty useful mutation and I'm quite proud to have it."
After a moment, the woman added another sentiment. "The only negative thing about it is its tendency to destroy pants and skirts. Dresses aren't as bad because I can pull them up, but pants are just obliterated. She shook her head. "It's sad, really. I do love my clothing." Deirdra gestured to the torn remains of her pants and then a thought struck her. "And there's the fact that when I change back, I no longer have anything to put on my bottom half. Some people consider that indecent." She shrugged and then laughed softly to herself. "I haven't yet come up with a solution to that problem, but maybe someday."
She tilted her head to the side and bumped one of the stunned mutants with her scorpion leg. The person moaned slightly and then she looked back at the man. "See? He's fine. Why don't you come down here? I'd put the tail away, but then I'd be half naked." Deirdra jammed her thumb out to point at her large tail, complete with stinger. "By the way, I'm Deirdra. Deirdra Sykes and I see that you've also been gifted with an ability. It looks very impressive." She gave him a smile, then she held her hand out for a handshake and waited for him to float down to her.

All Deirdra had wanted was a nice walk, but was that possible? No, no it was not. It had been a few blocks ago that the woman had sensed she was being followed. Unfortunately, she had been right. A couple idiots had been staying close behind her for a good majority of her stroll. Getting sick of the whole situation, the blond walked into an alley and waited for dumb and dumber to follow her in. After a few moments, it became obvious they weren't just normal thugs. Irritated, the woman had sighed and dropped her purse next to her. The two mutants kept creeping their was closer and closer to her. "I'd turn back now, if I were you." When they continued to come forward, she shrugged. "Don't say I didn't tell you so."
The woman's lower half of her body began to turn into some sort of black exoskeleton. Where human legs should have been, a scorpion body began to form. When the transformation was complete, a beautiful woman's bust now became one with a large body with a tail and stinger. She stretched her legs out far enough that she was able to take up a large majority of the alley's space. Deirdra came at the two mutants and pinned the insect one down. No longer interested in the half-defeated one, she turned and looked at the other one. Thrusting her tail forward, she stung him and he fell over.
She glanced around nervously when she heard some yelling. There was a man..or woman, in a floating bubble. Are those anvils? The insect mutant struggled under her large scorpion body for freedom. Deirdra began to get annoyed and stung him to make him go still. Crawling back off of him with her many legs, she backed up and stared at the man...or woman. She stood there, waiting to see what..it would do. If they flew off, she may have to pursue them to see if they were going to the police. It had seemed like they were yelling to leave Deirdra alone.
She wasn't sure how to react to this situation or what she should do. After a moment of thinking, the blond beckoned to them with her finger. If they came down from the sky so she could reach them, she wouldn't have to follow them all the way across town. It would be even better if this person didn't feel the need to say anything to anyone or if she could just charm them into remaining quiet. So she stood patiently, waiting for her would-be saviour to descend from the skies.

Deirdra took a swig of her new drink and glanced at the more 'normal' looking mutant. Of course, normal was such a broad term and what was normal for Deirdra Sykes may not've been normal to others. It seemed that this woman was trying to sneak some secrets out or something. The blond smirked behind her glass and listened to the other woman speak. She was answering the first woman's question about being a 'tree-hugging mutant'. It seemed that she had gotten herself into a lot of violent situations in a short amount of time and she didn't hint at any remorse. Deirdra wasn't sure if she was the type of mutant you try to make friends with or the kind you just try to avoid in general. She introduced herself as Meld and it was hard to tell so far.
"Meld, huh? That's an interesting...name?" Deirdra took another drink and sat the glass back down. "I can't say I'm a big fan of humans, no." This was quite an understatement for the blond. She loathed humans. Hated them with her very being, but wouldn't necessarily admit that to a bar with quite a few humans in it. Looking at both women, she decided she'd tell them her first name and could add a last name later, if she felt the need. "I'm Deirdra." She smiled at the other two and then turned back to the one she didn't know the name of. "And you? What's your name? I'm going to assume you don't like humans, judging by the way you phrase your questions about them so there isn't really a point in asking that back at you."
Maybe she could learn some things from these women, since it appeared they were trying to learn things of hers. Knowing exactly where everyone stood in the world and what kind of groups there were could be a great asset. Who knew? Perhaps if there was a group she was interested enough about, she could learn more and try to become part of it. Deirdra figured there must've been groups of some kind considering all the carnage and disaster one could hear on the news. There had to be some thought and someone behind it. It seemed unlikely that it was all a bunch of random occurences that happened in a certain area. The blond knew better than to say things were coincidences.

A new woman walked into the bar and Deirdra glanced at her, curious. She began to talk to her and the metal woman. Did she just call me crazy? The blond scrunched her eyes a little and tilted her head to the left. "Well--" She was about to add that she wasn't crazy when she realized that some may consider her to be a little unstable. The woman didn't think she was crazy, personally, so she would not agree to that. "Well, I'm not crazy, if that answers your question." She glanced out of the corner of her eye at the cyborg-looking person and then back at the other woman. "I'm a mutant, yes." She picked up her glass of beer and took a swig.
"And you? Are you crazy, a mutant, or a crazy mutant?" The last option was added with a smirk. "Unfortunately this is about as exciting as I'm getting tonight, I think. It's a shame really. I get out of work and all I do is come sit at a bar and talk to some women." She laughed. "People always did say I should go out and try to make some friends. I'm not very good at playing well with others, generally speaking." Deirdra leaned back on the bar stool slightly and sighed. "At least this way there's only one person to worry about." A little pause. "Me." Her eyes narrowed and she drank the rest of her alcohol. The whole while picturing her "family". Her father, stepmother, druggy mom, younger sister, and little half-brother. That had been her "family". Of course, she only really cared for her real mom and sister. The rest had wanted nothing to do with her being a mutant. Even if she was wanted before that was found out, it hadn't seemed like.
The bartender walked back up to the bar and glanced at Deirdra's empty glass. "Do you want more?" The blond leaned forward, batting her eyelashes. "I don't suppose you could just, I don't know, give me one more glass?" The woman pretended to rummage through her purse and then looked at the man again. "See? All out." She lowered her voice. "But if you'd buy me one more, I may be able to pay you back later." Deirdra winked at the man and then rested back into the stool. The bartender smirked. "Yeah, sure." The woman smiled. "You're a doll." After he walked away again, Deirdra turned to smirk at both women. "Man, guys can be such idiots sometimes. He isn't getting anything from me."

Deirdra turned and looked at the teenage boy. He had been flailing in the background and now he was staring at her and he looked concerned. She raised an eyebrow and smirked. “What?” The woman took out a few files and began to sort things into them, not even looking at Van anymore. "You're wondering what I meant when I said I'd hurt someone?" She picked up a paper and read it before putting it into a blue file. "I thought that was a bit obvious. What does it mean when most people say they would have to hurt someone?" Deirdra looked up at the boy and with cold eyes she said, "If someone had realized you were a mutant, I'd have had to kill them."
Looking back down at her work, she sighed. The woman acted as if what she had said was no big deal. "My kind comes before those pathetic...humans. Better I save you, than let them rat you out for all to know and spread." There was a straight-forward, intense loathing in her voice. "Especially since you're only a kid." Memories of her childhood flooded into her mind and Deirdra angrily shook her head. After a moment of some quiet thinking, the blond glanced back at Van and gave him a smile. "Are you curious about my mutation at all?" A pause. "If you are, I can show you it, but we'll have to wait until later unless we can get Dr. Stevens to go out for some reason."
The Blondie scribbled something on her notepad and wiggled her pen between her pointer and middle finger on her right hand. "I can't wait until I get done with my schooling so I don't have to work in this dump anymore. Believe it or not, I'm not a very social person." She laughed. "Well, I guess it depends on the person." Deirdra was a fan of the male gender and loved to flirt. She didn't care if they were human for a while, but when she got bored with someone and knew they were a human, she'd usually leave or hurt the person. On rare occassion, she'd do something worse. This wasn't a frequent occurence or a fact known by anyone. This was because she had become quite skilled at pretending and her method of getting rid of people was by toxins was hard to trace. Not to mention no one would suspect a dental assistant of having access to poisonous creatures. Of course no one knew she was the poisonous creature.

Hello All.
I would love to have a thread with some action for Deirdra. I'd like to get her mutation used and it can't just happen randomly, for that would be odd. Anyway, if anyone has a good idea or is interested, please let me know.

The teen walked away without saying anything and Deidra laughed a little, shaking her head. The old woman, Mrs. Gibbons, seemed to be having a panic attack. The blonde wasn't sure what the problem was until she noticed Van's arm stretched out. She glanced quickly at the old woman. Walking over, she gently covered the woman's mouth and made a 'shh' noise. Mrs. Gibbons pulled Deirdra's hand away, pointing at the stretching boy. The younger woman's response to this was, "Mrs. Gibbons, I think you should go home."
The elderly woman narrowed her eyes at Deirdra and yelled at her again. "Don't you see it!? Ms. Sykes, don't you see it?!" The blonde bent over and looked Mrs. Gibbons in the eyes. "There's nothing to see. I think you may be hallucinating. I'll reschedule your appointment for tomorrow. I think you she go home and rest, alright?" She gave the old lady a fake comforting smile and then Mrs. Gibbons nodded back to her. "Yes, yes. I must be tired. I..." A look at Van. " Thank you." She glanced once more at Deirdra before hobbling outside.
When the woman was gone, Ms. Sykes turned to the boy and sighed. "You should be more careful about your mutation. You could've gotten caught by someone who wasn't senile and I would've had to hurt them." She slid back behind her desk and looked at her chart, crossing out the woman from the schedule. She then jotted her in for the next day. Dr. Stevens peeked out at Deirdra, concerned. "What was all that yelling?" The blonde glanced up at him and smiled. "Oh, I think Mrs. Gibbons hasn't been sleeping well. I sent her home and told her to come back tomorrow." The dentist nodded and stared at the woman a moment. He didn't seem to notcie the boy at all and once he walked away again, Deirdra smirked and shrugged.

Deirdra needed to get out and go have a few drinks. Working in a dentist's office wasn't something she liked at all. When she was there, she felt trapped and enclosed. Not to mention she was surrounded by complete morons. The dentist, Leonard Stevens, was completely wrapped around Deirdra's finger and he didn't even know it. Her manipulation of males wasn't a challenge and it sometimes bored the woman. Though, it was always interesting to see the looks on their faces. That provided some decent entertainment most of the time.
Opening the door to a bar called 'The Grey Moose', Deirdra strutted in. She was wearing a low cut shirt, 4 inch heels, and a skirt that came half way down her thighs. Once she was inside, she glanced around the place. It wasn't very nice, but then again she was on a tight budget. Besides, when it came to alcohol, it was about quanity, not quality. Or maybe that's just me. The woman chuckled to herself and slid onto a bar stool. She turned a bit and noticed a woman with metal parts. Deirdra froze and took it all in for a moment before turning away. A mutant?
The bartender walked up towards the blonde. Deirdra gave him a smirk and tilted her head towards the tap. "A beer. I don't care what kind." She paused. "The cheapest you got, actually." He looked at her nice clothes and raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?" The woman leaned forward slightly and rested her head on her hand. "Yeah, I'm a little low on cash. I have a crappy job and I'm trying to get through school. I don't have tons of money to be spending on alcohol, but I'm just so stressed." He stared at her for a moment and then looked at the tap.
