The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Addy sighed, giving her sister a nod. Her advice could usually go either way, but at the same time, Veronica was the one person on earth who knew her secrets. From her being into girls, to how much she cared, to even her greatest fears and concerns. "I guess, but the trouble is finding someone that's both worth my time and that thinks I'm worth theirs," she said with a shrug, then sighed again.
"You're right, I guess. Just have fun and maybe the right one will cross my path. Watched pot never boils, I guess. But you don't seem to think anything looks good on me, do you?" she quipped, her voice turning right back to her usual teasing tone.
"Okay, so I've met my quota already. And I'm trying to care more, but...whatever. I'm just the bleeding heart out of the two of us. Maybe that's just my burden to bear."
This time, she let out an audible groan. "Uuuuuugh....I don't want to call them Mom and Dad...I wanna call em Asshole and Dickwad but I'd forget which is which..." she said, finishing her burger, and popping an onion ring into her mouth. "Why do they have to make rebellion so hard?" she said, heaving a long, frustrated sigh as she rested her head on her palms and her elbows on the table.

Addy had nodded, pushing back the twinge of guilt that had stemmed from her words earlier. Maybe that blonde chick really had broken her. Normally she would have just snatched the jacket and bought it, and been halfway home by now. But no. She was still standing here, talking for some reason. And she honestly found herself loosening up a little, really breaking the edgy punk-goth stereotype that she embodied.
“Though you’re staring at my figure? Staahp!”
Addy blushed a deep red, which really stood out against the dark eye makeup she was sporting. "No! I...didn't mean, I...Shaddup it was a compliment," she snapped, her eyes dropping before looking away entirely. "You're welcome," she grumbled. After a moment she got the nerve to make eye contact again, and smiling nervously.
"I think they would look kinda badass. I doubt the band would let me get away with wearing one on stage, personally, but...like I said I'm sure you can pull it off. I'm Addy."

Addy's face dropped. "Well I feel like a bitch now," she grumbled. She took a breath. "No, it's not like I laid claim to it. I was just trying to get to it because my other one got ruined and I'm still really pissed about that..." she said with a sigh. Great, she couldn't even be all dark and broody anymore. That and this girl was....kinda cute. And fumbling, which was also cute.
"Really, if you want the jacket, you...you can have it. I'll go find another one, I guess. Though, I don't know that duster might look good on you. Like some post-apocalyptic bounty hunter level shit," she said with a shrug; she wasn't really into anything that could spark that kind of reference, but...maybe the girl would look good in it.
"I don't know. I feel like you could pull the jacket off too, but...I'm not going to argue with you," she grinned as she took the jacket, but she did so in such a way that the other girl could have stopped her if she wanted to.
"Really though, you do have the figure for something like this. No need in hiding it under a duster or a fireman's jacket," she smirked lightly, "Unless you really want to."

She was making a beeline for that jacket. That was the only thing on her mind; it wasn't exactly like the one she'd lost, but from what she could tell, it was better. Much better. Maybe that whole incident in the alley was going to have some good come from it after all--
At least until someone bumped into her and everything that had been slung over her shoulders fell to the floor. She sighed deeply, not looking at the culprit until she had everything right back just the way it was. "Eh, **** happens, I guess." Oh didn't she know that all too well. Then she looked at the girl; seemed to be about her age. Not too bad except--Except her hand had moved to her jacket.
"You just decided to knock me over and grab the jacket I had my eye on," she said, her voice becoming darker than the initial cynical comment had been as her eyes narrowed and little faint sparks could be seen arcing from her hands, which clenched into fists. She'd already been in one fight, but this girl didn't look like she could disappear. Though she was hesitant about fighting, if she was honest. She just really wanted that jacket...
Addy was honestly still a little sore after that run-in with the Glowstick in an alley a few nights ago. She'd gotten most of the spray paint out of her hair, but ended up losing about two inches. That glowing ***** is gonna pay for that two inches in blood... she found herself thinking. But that wasn't the half of it. While she didn't have any lasting bruises, and the scabs from the paint cans exploding healed pretty quickly...her favorite outfit didn't come out of the scrap. Her jacket, pants, leggings, and even her shoes had been lost to the explosion of color.
And that's why she was rummaging through a clothing store in the mall. In a bag she already had a new backpack, a bunch of stockings, lace and fishnets, and three identical new pairs of shoes. She was wearing a black hoodie, tight light-blue jeans with chains on them, and a pair of basic black low-tops that she'd gotten for Christmas and hated. She looked through the selection of jackets and grumbled. They didn't have anything like what she wanted, and that was complete and utter "Horse****...." she hissed, moving to look at pants. Maybe those be a better selection here.
"Of course I'd have to go to five different stores just to find what the **** I wanted," she muttered, slinging a few pairs of leggings over her shoulder, in an array of colors. Then...off on a clearance rack, she saw what she wanted. Acid washed denim, studs and chains...and there was only one. And from the looks of it, it was her size. She walked over, picking up the jean jacket, nodding at the purple flannel lining. "Oh hell yeah..." she breathed, a smile crossing her face for the first time in a few days.

"You're welcome. Even if you're not in a band like me, you've got potential. I mean, you're pretty damn good," She complimented matter-of-factly and threw in a solid nod for good measure.
"Careful now," she teased, "a girl could really get used to that, ya know~" Addy quipped with a playful wink. Her humor was a lot less dark and cynical today for some reason. Then again, that jam session really chipped away at her edgy outer shell.
"Yeah, that was me. That part I can't really turn off, but at the same time it's better for me if I have more electricity stored..." she said quietly. "Besides, I don't need as much sleep as most people so I guess it's not a terrible trade off, right?" she shrugged, eyes looking a bit uneasily around the room.

Addy sat in the chair, now without an instrument, though the guy behind the counter didn't seem to mind Addy playing but not having any money. Then again, maybe her being good helped that out. "Oh that's just a confidence thing," she said with a smile. "Bit of advice, if you don't mind. When doing a cover, especially something with as distinct a sound as Tenacious D, don't worry about trying to sound like the original singer. Lean into it, yeah, but make it your own. Incorporate what makes you, you. You'll sound better, and you'll feel better because you're playing to your own strengths," she said sincerely before cracking a smirk. "I did enjoy watching you dance around like a nut, though," she teased lightly. Though maybe she enjoyed that a little too much.
"Yeah, we're not very big, but we play small events sometimes. I'll forgive you for the whole 'country,' thing because you're a fun person to play with," Addy said, continuing to poke fun, though that comment sounded a little more serious. The gleam in her eyes though, said it was all in jest.
The expression dropped; she'd noticed the discrete shaking but that was because she was used to it by now, and she withdrew a little bit. "Yeah I uh...I do that sometimes..." she said, biting her lip a little. "It only hurts when I want it to though, usually," she covered up her internal turmoil with a sharp voice and a playful wink as she stuffed her hands into her pockets. This was why she normally put up that tough front, it was so much easier when people thought you were cool. But this girl had already seen her open up because of the music, so it was too late to put that wall up. [/font]

Addy wasn't winded; she was only now warmed up in fact. Then again, she was accustomed to playing and singing more than just a couple of songs, and her theatrics didn't consist of jumping around. But her playing partner's antics made her smile. She seemed like a fun person, and that was saying something. When the girl bought the guitar she was playing,Addy put hers back.
" I'll save up?" she promised with a small smile and a shrug. Hey, the dude liked the show, so Addy was definitely coming back here. Maybe bring Veronica next time. Though she liked the prospect of meeting people this way.
"Really? You took to it pretty good," she complimented. "Hey you're legit, too. Yeah, my twin sister and I have a band. Sonarstatic Rebellion. Formerly the Marilyns until about a year or so ago. We do a lot of punk rock. And I'm pretty sure I cut my teeth on a guitar," she said with a laugh before offering her hand--quite awkwardly because she didn't do that much--to shake. If the girl accepted, she'd feel a slight tingling sensation. Addy wasn't trying to shock her, but she'd absorbed a good bit of electricity. At the worst she'd feel the little hairs on her right arm standing up.

It was no secret that school wasn't Addy's thing. Well, she didn't think it was; she'd never really stayed in one long enough to find out. Besides, she was a background vocalist, she didn't need to know what words meant, only the proper pronunciation of them. And in music, even that was flexible sometimes. Looking at you, Pearl Jam.
"No, I am not having 'girl trouble.' I've got it pretty much figured out," she said with a shrug. "Most girls are either scared of me, or they don't like the little sparky thing," she added with a small smile to hide the fact that it really sucked, to be honest. "Only if you paint them black, mint chocolate ice cream, and you can shove the rom coms up your ass." Addy gave a sly smirk at that one; she couldn't be thrown off her game for long. Besides they were reaching their quota on emotional moments for the year, and it was only January.
"Sorry, I'll stop. And maybe I do care too much," she admitted, taking another grease-laden bite of her burger, followed by a sip of lemonade.
"I mean...somebody in this family has to. Nicholas and Clarity sure as hell don't..." Addy made a habit of calling them 'mom' and 'dad'. In her eyes, they hadn't earned that privilege.

"The things I do for the love of music," she muttered under her breath, but she was in a good mood today, and playing with someone that wasn't her sister was interesting, even if she was giving up her lead guitar position for a little while. But for Tenacious D, she'd do it. This chick really wasn't that bad; her guitar skills were almost on par with her own, and while not outstanding the vocals were pretty decent too. When she dropped the lyrics to focus on the riff, Addy instinctively took over the lead vocals, still riffing away on her guitar.
"Needless to say, the beast was stunned. Whip-crack went his whoopy tail, And the beast was done. He asked us: "(snort) Be you angels?" And we said, "Nay. We are but men." Rock! Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh-ah-ah, Ohhh, whoah, ah-whoah-oh!"
In the middle, Addy set down the acoustic, letting the other girl take over while she still provided backup, and she had the electric guitar back just in time for the big solo. This was where Addy really shined and showed what she was made of.
"This is just a tribute! You gotta believe it! And I wish you were there! Just a matter of opinion. Ah, ****! Good God, God lovin', So surprised to find you can't stop it."
When the song ended, Addy was wearing this huge grin as she looked over at her impromptu accompaniment. "Hey, that was pretty damn awesome," she commented, giving her a nod as she just sat for a moment, fingers lightly moving over the strings of the guitar, but not really playing anything; she was more or less just fidgeting.

"Whatever suits you, I guess," she said with a shrug. And then, she started playing Tenacious ****ing D. She gave a small smirk as she stood up, unhooking her guitar and putting it back on the wall. This girl had found her weakness, and the one thing she would pick up an acoustic for.
At home she picked it out on her electric, but...they were in public and she was going to do this right. She found a black acoustic she liked, and sat back down, this time swallowing her pride and letting her fellow guitarist take the lead.
"I do, actually. The one band I'd touch an acoustic for," she replied. She picked out the same rhythm as the other girl, taking a minute to get used to the feel of the not as badass guitar. "Let's see if I can keep up, shall we?" she said with a smirk, a small glimmer in her eye as she matched the other girl chord for chord.

"It's a cool word, dammit," she huffed, looking up from her phone that she'd had hidden under the table to look up the word 'feisty,' and she totally didn't read the definition off, either. Nope.
"I mean....y-yeah," she said, blushing softly, focusing back on her food. "It's because everybody sucks. Definitely." Totally wasn't because her powers had a habit of shocking people. Or because people found her scary, not at all. She was approachable, damn it.
"Hey, I don't give a damn about health; I was just teasing. Eat what you want, but..." her eyes narrowed. "Do not compare me to mom. Ever," she snapped, her voice cold and more serious than it usually got. She bit her lip. "I actually care, ya know?"

Addy felt like complete and total crap. She was currently sitting in front of a store front, hugging her knees and letting her chin rest upon them. Her entire body was caked in multicolored spray paint, that was now dried and making her now-ruined clothes really stiff. Her face had dried blood mixed in with the already uncomfortable paint, and her hair was a matted, multicolored mess that clung to her face. She had a small cut on her shoulder that had torn her jacket and her shirt to get to the skin, one on her side, and another on the outside of her right thigh. She looked like she was about to cry, but she sucked it up. She could do that when she got home.
Shit. She had to get home. At least she had adequate energy for the walk home now, anyway. That was...something, though nothing could really make this better. Not the way she saw it, anyway.
Pushing herself to her feet with a groan, she was finding that movement was impeded thanks to the dried paint. That skinny blonde Glowstick sure did a number on her. Here it was, after dark, and Addy was walking down the streets of New York, trying to get home, which thankfully wasn't far.
However, the paint was making it very hard for her to move, so she was more or less doing a defeated, awkward shuffle down the sidewalk. She needed a shower, a new outfit, a good cry, and somewhere in there she was raiding her parents' booze cabinet.
"It means you're spirited. Plucky. Got an attitude for someone so little," she jabbed before adding, "Granted I'm the pot that called the kettle black, but I'd say you're a little more fiery than me." She smirked.
"And that, dear sister, is why we're both single. Because everybody sucks." She laughed. While Addy liked to think that Veronica reciprocated her feelings, sometimes it was hard to tell. It wasn't nearly as bad as when her powers first surfaced, several months before Veronica's did. That sparked a phase where Addy truly felt like Veronica didn't love her and many a night was spent crying herself to sleep. She didn't know if Veronica actually knew that because she tried to keep it secret, but there were sometimes where Addy wondered if that was the norm and Veronica was just being nice by tolerating her. She hoped otherwise, but sometimes that thought just nagged at her. Not right now though, because there was food and this was actually one of their more touching moments.
"Okay so you get the kidney stones and I overdose on sugar and chocolate. We can share the grease and the clogged arteries," she said with a snort, taking a big bite out of her burger.

"Didn't say I was useless. Just letting you know you didn't do as much as you think you did," she grumbled. Even if it was true. Her ability made sleep a mere afterthought, with her needing maybe a third to a quarter of what most people needed, and without a charge she could do nearly nothing but sleep.
"Next time meet me in a Stereo Hut and I'll kick your ****ing ass..." she muttered under her breath. She pressed her back against the building, pulling her knees close to her chest and resting her chin on them as she just sat there, taking in the electricity. Just that alone felt refreshing, but...inside she was still feeling like crap.
"Just leave me the **** alone," she breathed, her voice sharp, though she didn't make eye contact this time. It was obvious the fight had been taken out of her, and she was on the verge of just being done. She wanted to cry, but she didn't do that. She wouldn't do that. She couldn't do that. Not here. She already looked pitiful, and she wasn't about to add to that.
She was tough. She was cool, dammit. Seeing the customary little blue sparks occasionally passively dance across the back of her hands made her feel a little better as she hugged her knees. The world finally stopped spinning, but why did everything hurt?
