The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I'm a lot? I thought I was just sorta... I dunno, pretty normal." He scratched the back of his head as he puzzled over how he was like Blue in any way.
He tilted his head at her frown as talked about wanting her on the team, and ended up laughing at him as he stated her identity as he knew it. He maintained a slight confusion as she told him he wasn't fully right. His expression softened as she stated she was no longer going to be Juniper brown, girl whose problems followed her.
She was just going to be Juniper. An new Juniper, going forward. He reached out his hand to gently take up hers, looking her in the eyes as he smiled widely.
He lit up a bit, seeing her smile, even if it was just a little. He nodded as the topic switched to Blue. "Um... I dunno if he was mad at you. He seemed... Really worried. And maybe not used to showing that worry without fire? He's um... He's a lot." Xavier had his thoughts about the tall burning man, but he kept most of them to himself.
Still... It WAS a little sus that her uncle was... burned, and her friend was all burny. Still, word was it was Azar. Xavier's shoulders slumped a little as he chickened out when it came to asking her about it. She had a lot on her plate right now, and making sure she was okay was priority number one. "I know... You were in a very stressful situation... It can be very easy to look for shortcuts in that headspace, but- oh, you know, nevermind." He reminded himself silently that he wasn't here to judge her. He was here to be a friend.
She asked why he wanted her on the team, and her rather outward surprise caught him off guard. "Why wouldn't I want you on the team? You're amazing, and you have never caused me any problems. If anything, I get the feeling other people have caused more problems for you than anything else."
She kept on the more negative talk saying she was her past mistakes, and listen for a moment before not being able to resist interjecting. "Juniper, you can't let your past affect how you approach your future. You aren't your past. You are Juniper Brown, the girl who runs headfirst into danger by reflex, looking for people to save. Right now, that's all that matters." He looked serious. He was rarely the type to argue, but... She was talking about his best friend like that. He couldn't just sit silent.
It was a long story; one that saw the young hero smile fondly, frown, laugh, openly weep, gasp in shock, stop to hug, and sit quietly, letting what she'd said sink in.
She'd been through a lot. More than he'd ever known. Her life... had been sad. Painful. And she'd still gone through it all to get here. "Juniper... I'm so proud of you... That you made it through that."
Talking on more recent events, he nodded. "I was surprised... and scared. But after I got out of the sewers the only person I was afraid for was you... Blue and I were looking everywhere." He paused for a moment, and then spoke slowly. "I... Met Blue..." And what a meeting it was.
He was supportive of her in her confession of wanting to kill Keith in the moment. "I know... Don't blame yourself. Knowing what he did to you I... I understand."
He smiled, reached out a hand to reassure her.
Her announcement that Saph had already sponsored her for the program definitely threw him off... He couldn't resist a quick, "Him?!" Before feeling slightly embarassed and sitting back.
"I don't know about that... You're one of the bravest people I know. You would make the team... practically unstoppable, in my opinion. I had sorta wanted to try and get you to join in the first place."
The mention of Saph drew a bit of a cringe, though she wouldn't see it through her blankets. He leaned forward from his seat, placing his elbows on his knees as he watched her slowly pull herself from her cacoon. This butterfly was much worse for wear, though. His eyebrows crinkled into a look of concern as he saw her.
"Wow... You're pretty beat up..." He felt a pang of guilt; he hadn't been there to defend her. Some friend he was... He was frowning when she looked over to him.
"What ever you want to tell me, Juniper... Whys, whats, anything and everything you didn't tell me before, would be nice. But if you can't tell me, just tell me you can't tell me." He was able to work up a smile.
He had to be brave for her; her future was scary right now. He had to let her know that what ever happened, it would be okay.
"I don't want to get your hopes up, but... I did some research, and I found out about a way that you might be able to come to the mansion instead of... We would just have to find someone to sponsor you, and get the assigned judge to approve it..." He didn't know exactly how to do that, but he could find out!
He smiled a bit at the sound of her voice. She was okay enough to talk. Enough to mope. That was good. He was reminded of visiting his mom in the hospital all of those times. His fist clenched a little bit, but he smiled through it.
"I don't hate lying, Juni. I love honesty. I know there are reasons people lie. I, uh, lied to get in here." He looked around as if the room would be mad at him for saying it aloud. Seemingly satisfied he wasn't going to punished for his admittance, he walked closer to the bed, and took a seat. "I was worried about you..."
He looked to the floor, before looking back up to the bundle of blankets, and smiling again. It was so childish, but honestly, he couldn't blame her. It had to be hard, talking to him, here.
"So... can you tell me now? I imagine something stopped you back there in the alley... and before... But you're my best friend. I hope you know you can tell me anything. If you want to."
Xavier couldn't wait. He'd been constantly patrolling for Juniper for the better part of a week, even going so far as to MISS SOME CLASS in order to wake up early, and spend the whole day searching for his missing best friend. All the while, he never faltered.
He was aware of the papers, the news programs, the apparent crimes. None of that mattered to him. Wolf news, or the New York Hours could act like they knew Juniper Brown; they could speculate about the heinous criminal she was, or how she was a mastermind, and potential murderer. They didn't know her the way he knew her. She wasn't a criminal mastermind; she hardly planned anything. She wasn't a murderer, she saved people. She wasn't a bad person, she was the person who saw someone in danger and jumped in to help them without even thinking about it.
Nothing they could say would change his mind.
Elke had even helped when he asked, having seen his determination from the start.
They hadn't been able to find even the barest trace of her, though. It had been like she'd just... disappeared.
And now she was back, and he was at the hospital, waiting for his chance to check on her. He frowned a bit at himself as he leaned against the wall next to the door. He'd... maybe told a little fib again, but it mean't he could check on her! All he had to do was wait for the inspector to be done asking her some questions.
He waited next to the officers posted outside the door in baited breath as the door finally opened, and... Oh. The Masochist walked out, and he pressed himself flat against the wall, eyes wide open. A dirty look was sent his way before the man shook his head a bit and walked past, a heavy aura of dickishness emanating from him as he went. Xavier watched him go silently before looking to the officers, and nodding a bit.
His turn. He took a deep breath, and walked into the room. He'd practiced what to say to her a million times. How he would tell her it was all going to be okay, and he would always be her friend!
Still, as he stopped in the middle of the room, looking at the bundle of blankets that clearly had a person in them, he reached back and scratched the back of his head. "Uh.... Um... Hey Juni... How's it... How's it goin?"
Looking upon Xavier's face as it shifted from surprise to something else... Freaked out wasn't close to the right sentiment... No, Xavier was dissapointed, more than anything else, and he wore it on his face as he looked Megan's way. It faded as he looked over to see Eoin's smile. Well, what was done was done. There was no changing the past. Unless that was his next power growth. With his luck, it might as well be.
At least Eoin seemed to be enjoying this, and Xavier could resonate with a sort of pride in showing off that part of your identity. He missed the connotations in the Irishman's stares and grins, as he simply couldn't comprehend why someone would wish to cause him discomfort, and therefor was never one to assume that anyone would aim to do so.
If he was hoping to turn the tall young man green or pale, he would be sorely disappointed, though, as the lime light shifted, traveled and converged on the little spider. All he would see would be fascination. He loved to see powers work. He leaned in a bit beady eyes wide as he took in all of the details. He was transfixed up to the point where the new arrival asked if he wanted to hold it.
"Yes please!" He reached out to receive the dead spider, hearing Eoins ominous words and shaking his head. "Don't worry, I'd never let it bite me!" Provided he was actually given the spider, he would hold it up to face level and look at it closely. "Wow.... How long does it last? Do you have to focus on every little thing, or does it mostly act on its own?" It would become apparent that Xavier Legend was very far from a shaky child... Nerdy Boyscout was a much more apt description by far.
"Oh! For a fire, you need Fuel, such as wood, Oxygen, and an ignition source! Accelerants can also be helpful, but are not necessary!" Mr. Cold Steel had asked a question! Oh, wait, he was in the middle of a conversation wasn't he?
Right, Damien didn't want to move where he was set, he'd already started to set up his cot. "Okay, well, that's fine... We can make it work! Let's just-" He reshuffled things around and... Hah! Perfect! And he was next to his new friend Rowan, too!
Once they finally got everything settled, Hiyori was back with the fish! "Oh wow, you caught a pike! Nice job Hiyori!" He said about the long mouthed fish she'd dragged in.
"Do we have any other supplies? I could throw something pretty great together... Maybe some Rice Pilaf, Oh! And green beans?" Where did he get that apron he was tying on? Was that... Oh god, it was Cold Steel Themed. He'd left his reversible Maya/Gawain one at home. Let's be honest, he had the whole collection.
Oh! Liz was back! She hurried off to get changed, but was back soon enough. "Welcome back Ms. S! I think we were just about to make dinner! I think Hiyori is starting without us." He replied, smiling widely, apron and all.
If he was allowed to cook, it would become readily apparent that he knew his way around a kitchen quite quickly. Quality would rely on the supplies this place was stocked with, or with what was brought. The fish was a great start, though!
She was pushing herself too hard. Still, he felt like trying to stop her would just cause her to get all stubborn and do more to prove that she could, even though she really shouldn't.
He nodded when she pointed out the supplies, and he went to go gather them carefully.
His short gathering expedition ended in him returning to a rearranged room. So much for taking it easy. Still, he couldn't help but smile at the cozy set up, the cartoons, and the overall...
Niceness of it.
It was calm. It was a side of her he didn't know; they had always sort of been fighting something, working away at something, or sort of arguing about something.
He slid himself onto the bed and sort of... leaned in. You know, to watch the screen with her. She'd made the space for him, after all.
"Oh hey, my dad loves this cartoon..." There was a cat chasing a mouse with a hammer. He hit himself in the toe. Good times.
He never watched cartoons much as a child; he was too busy doing other things most of the time. Like now! He was beading. "Okay, so... show me what we are doing here..." He would take to it naturally, as he did pretty much any dexterous task. He had a good idea of some of the iconography, as well, being fascinated with American history. He'd been prepared to accept a full ride sports and academics scholarship to Harbert(That very prestigious college) to study such niche history.
He tried not to talk too much about anything that poked out to him, though he would listen to any explanation of anything she offered with healthy dose of fascination. It was all so neat to him! Most importantly, though... He would try and just... enjoy some quiet time with his girlfriend.
He raised an eyebrow at the thought of boiling cornbread, but quickly decided it was worth a shot. He jumped right to action as she set the cornbread down. His phone was his guide on this one, in case where was any trick to it.
Soon, they would have their boiled cornbread dumplings for their soup. He felt a little bit trapped here. Where she could say something and be done with it, he was trying to make her happy, so he... kept his distance?
One might seem him, being a big guy, was a big eater, but he ate very deliberately, and politely. "That's good!" Her cornbread was different than the typical americanized version. Thicker, and less grainy, and the kidney beans gave it a good texture change and flavor.
He saw her look around, and look a littly woozy, causing him to set his bowl to the side. "Oh, cool!- I mean...that sounds nice. I can get everything together for it... What do we need?" She looked like she might pass out if she tried to pull together all of the things they would need for beading herself.
Xavier looked about the room. He... didn't see a TV.... he also sort of wondered what Elke watched in her spare time. He also didn't own a TV, so he couldn't really say he watched anything at all. It took from his time doing pretty much everything else he did.
He shrugged. "I was 13 when I named it. It would feel wrong to change it now."
He raised an eyebrow when she told him he was being annoying. He... was? He took a step back as she waved him off and blinked a few times as she passed him a bowl of soup.
Not that he thought of it, he hadn't really eaten a whole bunch, maybe fretting over her a little bit.
"Sorry? I'm just worried, I guess... You had a really bad fever just a handful of hours ago, Elke. If you do too much you'll spike again. You said you'd never been this sick before."
He leaned in a bit when she muttered, turning away at the first look the response got. "If you want, I can toast up the corn bread... The soup can make it softer?" It did sound good, and comfort and all...
Also, he was hoping to change the subject away from him being annoying.
He smiled a little bit; just a little more than that base level smile he almost always had on. "Thank you, Elke. I call it 'Feel Better Soup.'"
He may or may not have been giving her puppy dog eyes after asking if he could stay. As she gave in, he grinned and nodded as she asked him not to be super annoying. He wasn't sure what that meant, but hey, she'd said he could stay and take care of her!
Victory!
She offered to teach him how to make her usual sick foods. "Yes please! They say that comfort is important to a speedy recovery." He blinked as while he said that she started to climb out of bed.
"Oh, uhm, are you sure you shoul- Okay, well, lemme help." He offered her an arm to help her make her way into the kitchen "You're supposed to be on bed rest... You know you'll get better faster if you let yourself recover..." He said that, though he still helped her move around...
Stubborn people were... well, stubborn. It wasn't like she would just roll over and do nothing for a week. His wins would be in getting her to let him do as much as possible without her feeling like she was doing nothing.
He listened to her quietly, not passing judgement on her somewhat strange statement. He knew she wasn't against medication in general, she'd taken the NSAID, so it probaby had to do with something else. He just nodded at her statement, and sat with her.
He did, however, puff up with pride when she complimented his soup. "My mom always said it was bland, but the Chemo made it so she couldn't eat anything with too strong of a flavor profile... I could tell the broth lifted her spirits."
He totally missed her not so well hidden scowl, however, as he scooted closer. "Snuck up on you, huh? The bug going around this year is pretty rough... guess this is proof. The Nurses line said you'll need to be on bed rest for a while... I cleared my schedule and got my classwork in advance... Uhm... You know... In case you wanted me to.... stay?"
Rowan had never gone camping! Xavier smiled brightly. "Wow! So we have to give you the whole experience! OH! I can teach you how to light a fire! That's fun. Oh, and Smores! Bird watching..." His eyes suddenly went wide with excitement as he looked over to Rowan. "Friendship bracelets!" Did he have supplies to make friendship bracelets? OF COURSE HE DID.
They were pulled away from that conversation, but not before he became determined to get to friendship bracelet levels of pal with Rowan.
CS had mentioned that the caribou had been poisoned. He frowned again. What a waste of meat... Why kill a poor, defenseless animal in way where you couldn't get sustainance from it?
They made their way inside. CS warned them to stay away from the basement, he made a mental note to keep any other kids from snooping down there. He made his way on over to get a look at the boys sleeping area so that he could make sure everyone got proper accomodations.
He had just started when he heard the call out from Miss S. for help with her bags! He looked to Damien for a half second, who didn't look like he was going to volunteer. "I will!" Yessssss! He flew back into the central area to skip on up and start ferrying luggage. He froze in place when she mentioned the panic and terror. "Oh. I will- yes, I can do that, Miss S!"
Hesitantly he skittered off to the room, sheepishly poking a head in and stating. "Hey, Hiyori, if you, uh... You know, if you hunt anything, could you let Miss S know, because, she can... um... Feel the panic and terror." He paled a bit, before putting on a smile. "Okay, that was all!" He dropped off the luggage and sped off.
The tall blonde got back to figuring out their sleeping arrangement, unfortunately missing an opportunity to open a door for a cat girl, as he was in another room.
"Hey, Damien, do you mind if I scoot down your cot a little bit so I can fit mine in sideways? I think that will make it so we can all fit!"
Xavier shied away a bit when she waved him off. Boundaries and all.
"No problem..." I'm here for you, Elke... He didn't say it. Things were hard to say around her. He nodded and went off to make tea.
It wasn't long before he was back with the fragrant blend of herbs in a small, hot mug. He handed it to her and had a seat again. "My mother was sick a lot... I helped take care of her. Guess I have some experience with this." It wasn't exactly the same, of course. Elke was going to be fine.
He smiled a little bit. "You're looking a lot better already... Maybe we can get you some soup after you are done with your tea."
He gave a nervous glance over to the corner of the bed, after realizing she'd left space for him, before looking at it for a long second, and slowly shifting over to it. "Was it this bad the whole time, or just last night?" Maybe he should have stopped by sooner.
