The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Xavier had, of course, missed all of the business with the bird, who had flown through the door before he'd jumped from the window. He'd heard one, though.
Was he talking about which ever bird had made that sound? Well, that would make sense. Oh! A first handshake! One could never understate the importance of the first handshake one made with a new friend. It could tell you volumes about them.
Were they comitted, or nonchalant? Tense, or loose? Did they work hard and have calouses, or were their hands delecate like an artist, or a surgeon? Did the hand shake vibe? That was the most important part. A good old fashioned handshake could reverberate through space and time to affect the future of all mankind!
So he reached out to take the hand, but then it started drifting to the side, and then he was walking after the bird. Xavier's hand lingered for a moment before he wibbled it awkwardly and let it fall to his side before grabbing a bag and following after. He would... just have to shake his hand later, right?
"Is... Everything okay? Did the bird you were talking about fly off?" He looked around. No bird out here. He was headed toward the door, though. That didn't seem right, in order for the bird to be that way, it would have to be able to fly through walls or something.
He shrugged and moved to open up to the door for his new friend... Who... Oh god. He never got his name. He didn't know his new friend's name. Had he said it at some point, and Xavier had missed it? Or forgotten?! Oh jesus, was he a horrible friend?! Wait, he could still salvage this! He would find out his name during registration, and memorize it! Forever! Because they were going to be such great friends!
These were the thoughts going through his head as he opened the front door, and paused as he saw... "Miss S! Oh, hey! I have a new resident, here!" And he totally knew his name!
He had a lot on his mind. She was frowning; the fever was still hitting her pretty hard for the first few hours. It made felt heavy to see her like this. She was always so fierce, he wouldn't have thought seeing her like this was possible. And here he was. Taking care of her.
A hand reached up to her forehead told him he temperature might be dropping finally. He used the scanner to get a read. 100.1... Better. He let out a relieved sigh, turning to get up and change out her cool rags and stir the soup before sitting back down to take her hand once more.
It wasn't long after that she awoke, causing him to start a bit when she suddenly yanked her hand away. "Oh- You're awake, sorry, I thought-" She grabbed his hand again. He smiled.
"It's 7... Am. Early morning." He'd been up all night, but it didn't show much on his face. He was just glad her fever had broken. He let go of her hand as she started to push herself up. "Careful... Don't push yourself."
He was already handing her her water. He'd gotten a fresh glass after she'd fallen asleep. He carefully grabbed the cloth that slipped off of her, placing it to the side.
"How are you feeling?" He stood up and walked over to the kitchenette. "Do you drink tea? I brought Chamomile Turmeric... It should soothe your throat a bit." If she was open to to it, he would have it done in just a couple of minutes.
It hadn't been a good day. Leaning against the hallway, he caught his breath for a moment, wiping dried blood from his forehead before putting pressure against the cut on his hairline again; it felt like it was about to open up again.
Letting his heart beat calm for a moment, he centered himself, and opened eyes that had been clamped shut. Why had she attacked him? Why would she do that? No... He'd told her to take care of him... Kill him?
When he'd landed in the sewers, he thought for a second he might actually be dead. He'd hit his head pretty bad down there, too, but he wasn't dead. Very confused for a moment. And then... Very worried.
The first thing he'd done after finding his way out of the sewers was head straight for the apartments. Juni had been trying to tell him something, showing off that collar, right? She'd shaken her head before heading into the alley as well. He'd just failed to see it.
No. It was that man. Something about him clouded his judgment. It didn't matter. He needed to find Juniper. She was unfortunately pretty difficult to find when she wanted to be. Best to start at her apartment. Maybe there would be some clue that would lead him to her. She needed his help.
Her front door was locked. He didn't need to check; it had seven locks on it and the person who lived there didn't even need to use doorknobs. He went in through the window, a quick hop out of the window of his own room lead him to the ledge that Clide had walked so many times before. It was open, like always.
What was that smell? Smoke! "Oh god! Juniper!" He forced her window the rest of the way open, the flew right into the center of the living room, cape billowing behind him as he skid to a stop mid air, eyes locked on the random man standing there. "Um... Who are..." He saw the black hand print on the wall, and drifted back just a bit defensively. "Are you here to hurt Juni?" Another hired assassin like that other time?
Was... Berry hanging out with him? Xavier's face twisted into a confused expression. What... exactly was going on here?
103... The NSAID should help a bit. He would need to call the curses line for her. She threatened to stab him. Oh good, she wasn't too far off from her normal self.
"Don't push yourself. Relax. We have to break that fever." He placed a fresh, cool rag on behind her neck and turned to grab another when he felt a slight tug. Looking back, he smiled as he realized what it was.
Taking a seat, he stayed perfectly still for a while, not wanting to disturb her by moving too much. Taking her hand after god knows how long, he gently pulled his shirt free, and stepped away to dial the local nurses line.
At this point there wasn't much they could tell him other than monitor her temp, watch for certain more dangerous symptoms. He came back in to stir the soup and check on her. Sitting, he looked down to her, having run out of busy tasks. He just sort of... watched her. He was worried, sure, but it was also nice just to be here to take care of her.
She was always so strong. Now he could be strong for her, for a little bit. For now, she was resting. He took in the details of the room. As an American history buff, there was much for him to nerd out, here. The head dress didn't make any sense, but the rest of it was authentic, mostly home made.
Some in progress. She'd never mentioned she made all of her own gear for the Pow Wows. He would have to ask her more when she could form complete sentences. For now, he looked to her again, and reached down to grab her dangling hand, holding it gently.
He watched her carefully as she moved... Gosh, she really had to have a pretty bad fever. She was clearly disoriented. She took up the soup and had a little. Nodding as she spoke most of the word, he produced two little pills, handing them to her, and taking the soup in order to hand her the glass of water.
"The door wasn't locked. You didn't answer it, so I checked in on you." He'd wait to recieve the glass of water back after she was done with it before he stood and grabbed the thermometer from his bag.
A quick forehead scan would tell him her temp as of right now. When he turned around he saw her reaching for the tissues, and placed them closer to her to help out before scanning her.
The tall blonde would take a moment to sit and watch her before speaking up. "You're really sick, Elke... I'm going to stay and take care of you, okay?"
He'd already wiped his schedule for the next few days when he'd seen the state she was in. "We can get in contact with your teachers as well. You probably should stay and rest in best for a few days at least." He left out the potential need to take her to the hospital if it got too much worse. She didn't seem the type to like places like that.
The young man had been doing all sorts of internet searches to make sure she wasn't dying, and at what point they would need to head straight in to an urgent care at least.
He was checking on the soup when she stirred, which was perfect timing. He'd just switched out the steaming water pot, and had switching out her cold rags up next on the to do list when he heard her lost voice call out.
"Hey."
He'd brought a tupperware container to scoop soup into. Within moments he'd brought it her way. "It's been stewing a few days. Should be just about perfect." He took a seat that he'd pulled up next to the bed, and smiled warmly.
"You still have a fever, so take it easy, okay?" He could already tell she'd been trying to operate normally, but the signs were always there that someone wasn't at 100%. "Do you take fever reducers? I brought some Ibuprophen if you want." Some people weren't a fan of even over the counter medications.
He didn't say anything else for fear of overwhelming her. It was hard enough to think with a fever, and she'd just woken up. Gently, he reached over to retrieve the cloths she'd pushed off, and go get her a cool glass of water in case she needed it.
Yes, it was completely normal to be sick. People got sick. It was fine. So, when he found out she was sick... He asked if she wanted him to come over. You know. Take care of her.
She was busy studying. Okay, she liked to power through a cold. That was a thing he had now learned about her. Cool. Cool cool cool. The next day, he checked in.
Still not feeling well. Busy studying. Okay, you could be sick a few days. He'd spent the next day cleaning skyscraper windows. No bird man this time. He'd checked on her. No reply. Okay. He was annoying her. Dang. He couldn't just... Ignore it, right?
He waited another day. He tried again. She should be over a cold by now. Maybe a date? 3am reply. Still sick. What? First, it was 3am.
Oh... Oh god. She was lose track of time levels of sick?
He started making soup. Real ass soup. The sort of soup that heals from the soul to the body. Serious soup. Enough about the soup.
Now... he just needed to know where she lived. Because... After six months of dating, he still had no idea where she lived. Like... He knew she stayed in her dorms. She always just sort of came over when she wanted to see him. It sort of felt sad to think about it like that.
So he wouldn't. He would think that his girlfriend was sick enough to reveal her location, and thus, he needed to be there for her. After all, she'd texted him at 12am this time.
She was still time traveling. He flew across town with a crock pot full of panacea. Super hero cooking apron waving in the wind. He felt... really nervous standing outside of her dormroom door, crockpot in hand. Knocked. And waited.
And waited.
A Neighbor, tall man with glasses, poked his head out, and warned him that he was knocking on the demon of hallway 12's door. He kindly thanked him, and assured him he was in the right place.
He tried the door handle. It opened. Okay. "Elke... I'm coming in... I hope you're okay..." He walked in to a clean dorm with a very, very sick native in it.
Xavier's worried expression softened as he saw her... This was going to take a lot of soup. He plugged in the pot to keep it running at warm, and got to work setting up optimal well-making conditions.
By the time she woke, she would have a cool cloth on her forehead, and the back of her neck.
He crouched there, finger extended, a small, nervous smile on his face as she asked him her question. He slumped a little as he thought of it. "Not... embarrassed. But... It's like... A little flower, right now. If you are too rough with it, it could get damaged. I want it to grow naturally. I honestly think I might scare her off if I go and tell her how I feel right now."
His eyes widened just a little as she folded his pinky back. "I guess that's true... You seem smart enough that I wouldn't treat you differently either way, honestly." He smiled warmly at her as she assured him his secret was safe. "Thank you, Kalos. You're a good friend." He nodded, and turned to get back to cleaning up what he could before waiting for the oven timer.
"So why are you asking about these sort of things? Do you have a crush of your own?" He looked up suddenly at the sound of shattering glass. Oh boy, kid wombat was trying at the cookie jar again. "Oh man, I better help clean up. Cake will be ready before too long! Be back!" He flew off to go calm the situation and make sure no one stepped on any glass.
"You're welcome!" He was in full action mode at this point in time. He tended to clean as he went, because the kitchen was a busy place, and it wouldn't help anyone to leave a mess. The up thumbs was greeted with the same gesture as he giggled at her mixing up at of the term. "Thanks! I think it'll work well!"
He fell back into the counter as she exclaimed about his confession, looking around quickly and holding a finger to his lips. "Shhh! Please please please don't tell anyone!" Distraction! Quick! Cake question!
"I can do that! Yes, four layers!" She clearly liked the frosting! More layers meant a higher frosting to cake ratio. She also knew her stuff when it came to baking. He lifted off of the ground to get a cake leveler out of the top cupboard.
Oh no, the diversion was failing! She was too clever for it! Curse the fates! "Uh, nope! No Elke here! She lives at her school." He waved his hands quickly as she offered to ask her about it. "Please don't do that! I don't think it would end well!!" What had he done? Oh god, WHAT HAD HE DONE!?
He turned back sheepishly and stared at the oven for a second before sighing, and getting the last bits done before popping the multiple cake pans in the oven. The convection oven would get the job done faster, and make a fluffier cake as well. He'd adjusted the timing and temperature from the recipe to adjust for it. He took another deep breath, and turned to her, crouching down again.
"Can you pinky swear, no telling Elke what I said?"
Xavier smiled at her comment about her being beautiful. Confidence was key to a happy life! It looked like the little coral girl had a good life ahead of her! He started making his home made butter cream frosting; something a little heavier would work better for a chocolate cake.
He paused in his mixing to look up as she asked about missing pieces. "Well... I dunno. I think I'm perfectly whole how I am. Elke is as well. I can't say I ever want to need another person to need me to live, or vise versa... What I want to do with my life is very dangerous. I am with her because I want to be with her, not because I need to, or because I'm not whole without her." He worked away, covering the completed frosting and setting it to the side before absentmindedly handing the mixer whisk to Kalos. When ever his mom had baked, licking it clean had always been his favorite part.
He started on the batter, suddenly locking in place, face away from her when she asked about them getting married. Instantly, he was red from head to toe. "Oh... Uhm... Well, Kalos... Th- the thing is... I, uh, I..." He turned to her meekly, suddenly seeming way smaller than his rather large form implied. "Isortofhaven'ttoldherhowIfeelyetandIdon'tthinkshewouldrespondverywellbecauseshehasreallythickwalls" -gasp- "andIdontknowhattodosoIamgoingtopretendIdon'tfeelthewayIdountilIhaveitfiguredout." gasp again. He poked his index fingers together meekly for a second before spinning in place, and getting back to work on her cake.
"D-do you want two layers with frosting inbetween?"
Oh, if only Carrick knew just what a good boi Xavier was!
He floated there for a moment, smiling as the winged man followed him, flapping away to match him in flight. He didn't catch the meaning of the commonality comment, just figuring he was saying he also played with half a deck that was only good cards.
Carrick mentioned he was wasting time, and Xavier smiled a bit. "Everyone needs to take breaks! Productivity actually tends to fall a bit if you just try to power through." Also, flying was fun! He needed all of the practice he could get, too, considering he'd only had this ability for a week and a half.
He did the mental math to rotate himself in place to end up sitting upright in the air, and stroked his chin as Carrick asked some questions. "Well, it's more like I am picking a place between point A I hae touched, and point B I have touched, and choosing to be there." He nodded. That was sort of how he processed it, at least.
"As for renovations... I suppose I would have to touch the new parts! More window cleaning!" He smiled and lifted himself up high enough to reach up a hand and call his squeegee to himself once more. Break time was over~
He started up cleaning the last remaining wall, same rig in place to hold him. "The street is actually a more difficult part to hit, because there is always traffic. I have to hurry across... I even had to get permission from the local authorities to Jaywalk. Being a trainee helps a lot when it comes to those things, though!" Not to mention that people Jaywalked in the city all of the time, depending on the area.
"How do you like the mansion?" He called out as he squeegeed another window.
Xavier was very busy right about now. With such high ceilings, the many nooks and crannies tended to gather cobwebs like no tomorrow! Especially with Megan about! He was dusting. But how!? The ceilings are so high! Glad you asked, he was FLYING.
Well, technically he was holding himself between two points he'd touched before, but it was technically flying, right? He flittered about his duster in a corner, and sighed in contentment for a job well done as he looked around the game room from his nice vantage point.
His head tilted a bit, however, as he heard a loud squawk. A... bird? Just outside? Well, that wasn't wholly abnormal, but that squawk almost sounded familiar. Moments later he was poking his head out of the window.
"Oh... hey!" There was a person out here! And... Gasp! Were those bags that someone could use help lifting?! Was he going to get to help someone AND make a new friend? It was a good day! "Hello down there! Do you need help? I think security is at lunch!" He paused and started to climb through the window, floating down toward the lawn. "Also, did you hear a bird out here? I'm Xavier, by the way! Nice to meet you!"
He would land softly on his feet on the lawn behind their guest, turning to walk up toward the luggage to start helping him in.
Xavier blinked a few times as the younger mutant's food request came in, and he was hit with a sudden realization. "Oh my god... You are... just the most adorable thing, aren't you? How have I not talked to you until now?" He blinked a few times, and then smiled wide, and nodded. "Both of those things are desserts, but I will gladly make you a cake! Who wants cake?" The whole room paused as a bunch of hands in the busy kitchen went up.
"Cake it is." His feet lifted off of the ground, and he started flittering about gathering all of the needed supplies, while looking up a good recipe to follow. The kitchen was plenty well stocked as always, and he'd certainly made more complicated baked goods than this request in the past!
As he got busy, he found himself pausing mid flight, bag of pecans in hand. "Love made Juni... sad..." Oh... He hadn't known that... He hadn't really asked. His mind flashed to what Elke had told him. Oh gosh... she didn't feel that way about. He went a little pale, though he relaxed when she said the person wasn't around. If her heart was troubled, maybe he should check in with her; If he could catch her, that is. She'd been elusive since coming here... Not that he could blame her... Anyway!
"Well... Think it depends on a lot of things. There are different kinds of love, too! The love you feel for friends, the love you feel for family... They are all a little different. I think focusing on how they end is sorta missing the point. You have to enjoy it while you can!" He turned and started preparing igredients as he talked, chuckling as she mentioned having trouble seeing the good parts.
"Well... It's hard to explain, like I said, but... How I feel is... I tend to give. It's sort of how I like to interact with the world. When I saw myself in some future mystery relationship, if I ever did, I guess I sorta imagined it like a lot of the other relationships I have. With my dad, with a lot of my friends... Where I give, and it is it's own reward. To see them happy. Then I met this girl... Who didn't want, or need me to give. She put out this energy, this feeling of freedom and strength that I.. I guess I just wasn't prepared for. When I look at her... I feel a surge of emotion that just makes me so many things... Nervous, safe, giddy, excited... And she decided she wanted to be with me. How could I help but fall in love?"
He paused, sleeves rolled up, and a host of ingredients prepared. Still a lot to do to make everyone this cake, but talking had made the prep go quickly! "Wow... That all just... sorta came out, didn't it? You're easy to talk to, Kalos!"
The tall blonde smiled and hummed away while he started mixing, preheating, and all of those other things people did while they baked!
Did he have somebody. He smiled. Yes. Yes he did. Decidedly. He nodded firmly, crouching down a little to be closer to eye level with the Coral girl. "She hurt me, but it was a misunderstanding. Sometimes there are misunderstandings. Granted, stabbing isn't normal, but she was also a lot younger at the time, and apparently in a bit of a stabbing phase." He wasn't sure she'd fully grown out of it yet.
Taking a bit of a breath and centering himself, He took a quick look around the room. You never know if Elke was nearby. She couldn't hear what he was about to say. "I love someone who is full of energy and conviction, who never backs down, and stands by her morals without fail. I love someone I admire! And yes, she tried to maim me once."
She nodded at food. "Great! What do you want?" He turned to start digging through pots, pans and the like, looking back as she spoke before turning back to rummage as he replied. "Juni's my best friend! I guess she goes about it her own way. I don't know if it's really that easy from what I've seen... Not every love lasts forever, but once you do fall in love with someone, it's not exactly like there is an off switch to it you can just flick." He thought about his parents... Their many arguments over the years. How his mom's sickness brought them all back together for that short time... He stopped digging for a second, and frowned to himself.
By the time he turned back to Kalos, he had a warm smile on his face. "I think love is hard work sometimes, but if you can make it work, it is absolutely the best thing ever! Word's can't really explain it."
Juniper was gone, but Megan had said she would rat her out when ever she was sneaking about, because it was hilarious. He wasn't sure why it was, but he'd happily accept the help! The possibilites of his future help with his old friend, who was dealing with some things, put a wide smile on his face.
He blinked a few times as a little voice chimed in. He looked down a bit, and tilted his head. "Oh! cool! I was just about to make some!" He eyed the much shorter student and tapped his temple a couple of times. "Kalos! Kalos, right? I've seen you, but haven't had a chance to say hi! I'm Xavier!"
His bright smile faltered a little when she started immediately talking about love. "Uh- uhm- uh- wha-hahum?" Questions. Child was asking questions. Answer questions Helpful. Hard questions. Must be helpful. "Yeah! Yes. I um... Well.. I don't know? I guess... You just sort of know when you know!" He thought about Elke, her determined frown, her tendency to hide a need to care under a million layers of salt. She asked a hard follow up question.
"Oh, well... Falling sorta makes sense, because you don't have a lot of control over it? You don't pick who you love, so... yeah! I guess you just... do accidently happen to... I mean, my girlfriend stabbed me in the kidney with a pocket knife the first time I met her. By all accounts I shouldn't want to be near her, and I lo- I mean... I, uh, umh, I like her a lot!" Was he sweating? It was hot in here.
He tugged at his collar a little. "It's not as bad as it sounds, the stabbing thing. She had bigger knives she could have- Hey, you said you wanted food, right?" You know... On paper, maybe just a little, his relationship with Elke had some red flags...
