The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Xavier had been checking the mail when he'd gotten a text on his phone. Now, mind you, checking the mail at the mansion wasn't as simple as checking it at your house. For one, there was much more of it. For two, student's didn't typically do it. He'd run out of helpful things to do for the day, though, so an exasperated teacher had just given him the keys and said 'knock yourself out!'
He flew the whole way, of course. He'd managed to cover much of the mansion's main outside paths when it came to touch tagging the land. Sporting the bag over his shoulder like a postal santa, he smiled as he saw who the chime had come from. Megan!
What did Megan have to say? His eyes widened.
It was the ravioli alert. Someone, Somewhere, was eating ravioli directly out of the can without cooking it. He was needed in the kitchen. Going into super hero flying mode, he shot through the mansion's front door, pausing only to open it for a student coming inside and to hand off the mail and key to the confused teacher, and then floated over head toward the kitchen.
"Juniiii!" He called out as he pushed through the door to the fairly busy kitchen, and landed in a heroic pose, hands on his hips. "You really aren't supposed to eat it out of the can!"
He only saw the very edge of his neighbor as she disappeared through the wall... "Gosh... She knows I would cook for her..." Maybe if he got started on something, she would show up? There were plenty of people who looked hungry in here, after all!
They all arrived at the cabin just fine! Yay! They were waiting for Sam! Yay! They'd been waiting for ten minutes with no sign of him... Um... Uh... After watching Hiyori hop about and climb with amusement for a few minutes, the cold started to set in a bit. Xavier was just about to open his mouth to say something when their teacher clapped. He turned and his constant smile grew as it dawned on him that they were being given a task.
He loved tasks!
As soon as she started talking, he began breaking down what she was saying in comparison to their group composition, and where he might fit in. Oh! No one liked slogging through snow to gather a bunch of heavy logs! What's more, not everyone was built to carry a whole lot! Hiyori jumped into the first task and Xavier watched in interest as the zombies appeared.
"Neat!" He'd seen it before, but it didn't make it any less nifty! "Ms.S, I can be team two!" He smiled, and bolted out into the woods without another word. Minutes later, he walked back empty handed, smiling broadly as he approached the pit.
Looking up in though a moment, he nodded, and held out his beefy arm. The sound of a shuffling came in the direction he pointed, and a decent sized log swooped in at a high speed, bouncing harmlessly off of his hand and onto the ground. He repeated this several times with all of the logs and sticks he'd poked while out there.
Rapidly, he stacked them in piles, heavy dry, heavy a little wet(to dry by the campfire's heat), Light dry, and light wet! Patting his hands together, he turned to see if he could help with group 3's work!
He'd been gifted a magnesium fire starter by Elke, as well, so he would get it running just as soon as the kindling arrived! I mean, she didn't call it a gift, but it counted as a gift, because she'd given it to him for a special occasion. Camping. Camping was a special occasion. For Elke, at least.
It was sort of a while before Sam made it back. He would totally spend his time trying to talk to Rowan and Damien. "Do you go camping a lot? I was in the scouts, and my girlfriend is sorta gung ho about it. Camping, not the scouts. She thinks the scouts are just another exclusionary imperialistic organization meant to promote a crooked status quo... or something."
When CS arrived and dropped the poor caribou, he jumped up and replied to his question. "Yes sir, Mr.ColdSteel sir!"
He didn't catch the implication that Sam's words carried, but he did furrow his brow. "That's not good..." Elke wasn't here, was she? He peeked a bit... Crossbow bolt. Not an arrow. Whew. "Well, if we catch them we can make sure they pay their fines, and serve their jail time!" No, that wasn't said with any tinge of irony or sarcasm.
The winged man asked him some questions about his morality. He replied so quickly, and without a second of hesitation, that he could only be telling the truth. "I find a local police officer, if the owner isn't around. I always hold the door, and if they have a bag, I carry it for them if they would like." Oh, that was it? Just two scenarios? "Gotta do the right thing! The better you are, the better the world around you is."
"I think they both have their place." He shrugged. "I mean... It's not about whether or not anyone would notice. The right thing to do doesn't stop being right because no one is looking." He smiled and locked eyes with the other man for a moment to let the point settle in.
Carrick told him no one else felt the way he did. He tilted his head a bit. "Some don't I suppose. I think the majority of people really want to do the right thing all of the time, sometimes other things get in the way... fear of violence, fear of loss, time. Me? I am not afraid of those things, and I have plenty of time." The bird man put out another euphamism, and he smiled brightly as he began to perform acrobatics to a pleasant golf clap from his one person audience.
He thought about the angel's words for a moment, and nodded to him. "It's not such a disadvantage..."
He stood on the edge of the roof, and turned toward his new friend. "All I play with is royalty." He winked, and leaned back, disappearing over the lip of the building.
If Carrick looked down after him, he would see the tall blonde lingering in the air next to the building, laying in the sky with his hands behind his head as if it were the softest comfy couch.
Xavier's jaw dropped when Eoin stated that he'd turned his mother into a zombie. He quickly collected himself, and radiated sympathy. "Oh, man... That's rough... Yeah, maybe you should talk to Gemma... Or Greg? I know a few people who talk to him, too."
The tall blonde had experience with this; some people deflected the pain of personal trauma with humor. There was no way being attacked by your undead mother didn't leave some marks. "Hey, and I'm here if you ever need anything as well!" He gave a reassuring smile before he let the conversation move forward.
He didn't at all notice any animosity toward his suggestion of power based civic service; it was a good thing that Eoin didn't say his thoughts aloud, or it might make the poor young adult hero blue screen. How could someone NOT want to use their powers for good?! He nodded in slight confusion at the Irishman's reply.
Megan got on him about not maybe appreciating all powers the same, and he frowned a bit. "I think all mutations are interesting... but I'm not ignorant... I know that for some people, their mutation has caused them a lot of grief. I know that I got lucky."
A perfect eyebrow raised as the other two got to talking about their own dealings. What was this now? Wait, who was she going to wrap up, now? Dead body?! His eyes widened as he opened his mouth to interject, but froze when Megan smashed one of her poor, defenseless children. Oh boy... Was he in over his head? This was getting morbid quick. He looked to Megan as she spoke, still frowning as he watched quietly.
There was that large part of him that was curious about how this man's power worked... He just wished that something didn't have to die needlessly to show it off.
Xavier's expression shifted to confusion at the statement about people wanting the young man to forgive them for something. At the statement of forgiveness costing him, Xavier reached up to scratch the back of his head in thought. "Well... to be honest, I can't think of anything I would need to be forgiven for." He shrugged, and poked his temple for a second. Unless running in the halls of the mansion was a sin... Megan seemed to think it was.
Xavier watched as the winged man's attention shifted, and he turned to look down at what he was focusing on.
He turned back when Carrick asked him, essentially, why he didn't just touch all of the buildings and get it over with. "... Well, I could just go and touch everything, I guess... It just wouldn't feel like it was the right thing to do." He smiled kindly and nodded.
"I think everyone should always try to do the right thing, and it's not fair to think that if I don't do it myself, right?" At the comment of free time, Xavier laughed.
"Not really! I have a pretty full schedule all of the time... I cleared up some time for this, though. In the end it will save me tons of time." He brightened up, as if he'd just gotten an idea. "Oh! I could show you if you want!"
Real. Zombies. Like... dead people. Moving. The stuff of nightmares. For a second he may have gone pale, but that was quickly replaced by a look of concern. Sadness. He may have been rather pure in behavior, but the fact of the matter was, he bore a certain level of compassionate understanding within him.
If he had found out about this power by nearly harming someone, then he had likely been through a pretty traumatic experience. When he put his boot up, and revealed the old wound, it only cemented his thoughts in stone. "I'm sorry that happened, Eoin...It must have been terrifying."
His jaw absolutely dropped as Megan suggested that she'd love to see his power in action. "Megan..." Out came the look. That look that said I'm not mad I'm just disappointed.
He looked up to Eoin again as he started talking nonchalantly once more, and shook the sadness off. "Well... I'm sure it could have its place somewhere... There are a lot of unconventional powers that end up being useful. Maybe in the transportation of cadavers for scientific research? Anyway, Megan's powers are actually pretty neat! I've seen her climb walls and wrap people in webbing, and now that I say that out loud it's actually kind of terrifying." He said that with a wide smile on his face, as he hadn't come to terms with the statement as he spoke it.
Xavier knew when he saw someone who wasn't feeling included. He was like a people who don't feel included seeking missile, and he had honed in on his target. While passing out the bags, he made a mental note to seek out the younger looking boy and find a way to lift his spirits!
For now, though, he was busy being shamed by Sam. "oh, oops! Sorry Mr.Cold Steel, sir!" He wondered for a moment why they were here exactly. He'd never been on an extra credit field trip before, and the details had been fairly foggy, in hindsight. Still, they were surrounded by nature! He smiled to Hiyori as he walked past, having made sure the last of the people got their bags.
He giggled a bit as the jet was locked. A car alarm? That was hilarious! He would have to tell the guys at the comic shop about it. They started to make their way to the cabins, with CS seemingly acting the cautious defender while Liz seemed a little more relaxed. He looked back to Hiyori as she manifested a body. "Woah, nice skin, Hiyori! I haven't seen that one before."
He gave an assuring nod to Damien as he passed as well, catching the comment from the teacher. He talked to these people often at and between classes. Damien sometimes got into trouble, but it wasn't always his fault... Mutations were tough for some people.
Finding his pace, he settled in the marching order beside Rowan. "Hey, I don't think we've met before. I'm Xavier!" He held out a hand as they walked, smiling kindly, but widely. "You seemed a little nervous on the flight, so I didn't say hi..."
Oh! They'd arrived at the cabins! "Looks cosy!" It was worth pointing out that Xavier had come prepared. He had a giant rucksack on his back that seemed to have everything and everything one could need under the sun. Elke had helped him pack! She'd told him 'you're an idiot, so you'll need this... and this...' until the bag was full! He liked to thing that, while she called him an idiot, all of the things in this bag were just her little way of showing she cared.
He let out a contented sigh, fogging the air in front of his face, as he stepped up and took a look around as they waited for the cabin to be opened. Hiyori mentioned smelling something, so he took an experimental sniff. Nope, nothing. Then again, she was a cat. Their sense of smell was no joke!
Xavier was completely accustomed to the presence and behavior of Megan's spiders at this point. He layed his chin on his palm as he watched them dance with a little smile on his face. For all of the scary vibes Megan often put out, she really was goofy when she wanted to be!
Wonder boy's eyes widened when he heard that Eoin had never been to highschool. "Ohh! You can be Juniper's study budy! She's going for her GED, and taking classes for prep!" Awesome! Juniper needed some motivation to keep up with her schooling, anyway; She never made class when he was out of town with Elke.
The Irishman had a laugh at the concept of being a hero. Xavier smiled. "It's so much more than that, but that's part of it!" He blinked a few times when he said he was a shoplifter.
...A Joke, right? He kept the smile on his face. "Hahaha! Well, I hope you don't run into me out there! I'd have to arrest you!" He said it as if they were both joking around about it; obviously this nice young man would never steal, right?
He asked about Megan's power. "Ohhh, It's so much more than that! She can make spiders, and, oh! She can see through their eyes, though it makes her nose bleed... And! And! She can make big spider legs on her back! It's super cool!"
He nodded at the power description that was given about him. That was about right!
His eyes widened and he paled for a second when it seemed like he'd possibly stumbled into a faux Pa. Oh no... He'd asked so many people about their powers! Was he just... going around offending people without knowing?! Oh god! Just as the panic started to set in, the other man started laughing. "Oh! Heh.... You got me!"
There was a long pause when the man said he made zombies. One blink. Two blinks. "L-like, Illusions of that sort of stuff? Like Hiyori, right?"
"a loincloth salesman. Huh. It's a living!" He smiled as he looked away to scan the skyline for a moment. He really did like it here. Over the course of this year it had started to feel more like home than... well, back home. "Carrick. That's a cool name!" Why did it sound familiar.
"Nope! No wings! Though, I am working on a little something that is kinda close!" His eyes caught the wings once more, and he couldn't help but gawk.
"Does anyone ever tell you you look like an angel?" I mean, man with wings on his back. Then again, traditional angels didn't look like that. They were more terrifying, by far; hence why they always had to open with conversations by telling people not to be afraid. Carrick, on the other hand, looked perfectly friendly!
"I do play Basketball, among other things. This, though, is a way to make the most people happy! I found out I can fly to places I've touched before, sorta. It's more complicated than that. But, I don't want to just... rudely touch everything without permission. So, I offered window cleanings for the opportunity to mark this whole building! I have four more lined up as well... It won't be too long until I am able to access most of the city!"
His eyebrows lifted as Carrick mentioned seeing him. "Ohhhh! That's why your name sounded familiar! You're also from the mansion! Gosh, how have we not been introduced yet! Well, it's really nice to meet you! What brings you out into the sky on this lovely afternoon?"
He dangled his legs a little more. He had most of this side of the building left before this one was completed, and looking at the time, it was the last one he would get done today. The tall ones took a long time to get done!
Xavier, quite the talkative type, found himself at a sudden loss for words when it came out that Eoin didn't know what a mutant was. His mind glitched out for a second as Megan explained a bit. "Wow, then! I have... So much to show you! The history of it all! I mean... Oh man! the early sagas... The first Hero/Villain showdown in NYC... Oh, do you have a MyFace? I can send you some links so you can watch the videos on your phone!" He totally had a phone, right? Probably not, Xavier, you sweet summer child.
He smiled back as the other Man smiled at him, tilting his head a bit as he explained about how he was often treated. His brow furrowed. "Wow... Well, I can tell you that won't happen here! Everyone here is really nice! Well, avoid the Masochist, but everyone else here is really nice!" He frowned at the admission of hurting a family member. "Oh... well... If it helps, that's not too uncommon. People often don't know how to control their powers at first, and sometimes people get hurt as a result. That's why places like this exist! They teach you how to use your powers better while you go to school... Well, if you still need to finish highschool at least!"
He let Megan answer about her diet. It was a her question!
The team... THAT was a him question! "Oh, it's so much more than a football team! It's... A HERO TEAM! The X-Men! I'm a trainee for them, actually. We help fight crime in the city, and save lives every day!"
Megan answered about different powers, and he nodded along. "Yep! I can make things come to me, or get pushed away from me, among other things." He blinked a few times before deciding to ask the big question. "So... do you know at all what your power is, then?"
He heard a voice as she pointed his squeegie up like the sword of endless force from the Farwars Series for a moment before he heard a voice behind him, and he jumped, dropping the window cleaning implement in surprise. "Oh! Yikes, you scare me mr... woah..." He was a griffon. Like, straight out of medieval myth and heraldry. Neat!
"YOU LOOK SO COOL! Holy cow, a Griffon! And you can talk!" He watched as the creature flew in front of him, displaying its majestic wings. He said something about Tarzan, and Xavier took a half second to realize he was joking. "Oh, hah hah! Yeah? Well, fresh out of loincloths, myself! I'll have to work on those wings, then!"
He watched as it perched above, and he reached out to make his squeegie fly back up to his hand before it hit the ground.
"Hah! Maybe some day soon, sir! For now, I need the rope. That's sorta why I'm here, actually!" He didn't provide any context to that for now, instead option to use his power to pull himself up the wall, and to the edge, where he could climb up and sit on the ledge. "I'm Xavier! Nice to meet you!"
He smiled brightly, seemingly not at all nervous to dangle his feet over the edhe of the building, even without wings of his own.
When Sam, ahem, THE Cold Steel, looked back, up front and center would be the grinning mug of Xavier. Did he need extra credit? Nope! Not even close! Straight A student, right here~ Did he sincerely want to go camping with his teachers and fellow students? ABOSOLUTELY!
"I really think the ravens are cool! What are their names?" He had a tendency to talk a fair amount when he was excited, but nerves had taken over for much of the flight. Now that they were landing, he couldn't help but ask about the birds.
The 6'5 blonde was practically bouncing in his seat as he nodded enthusiastically at CS's instructions. "Oh, Neat! I can't wait Mrs. S!" Knowing it was safe to get up, now, he hurried over to the baggage compartment to help hand out people's bags to them.
Being tall and strong made that a little easier. While he did this, he attempted to say hi to every other student. If he didn't know them by name, he would absolutely ask them and introduce himself.
Taking a deep breath of wilderness air, he exhaled, and jumped in place a bit. "Oh, man! This is going to be so cool! I can't wait!"
Xavier wasn't afraid of heights. Maybe that had something to do with an innate knowledge that one day he would be flying. Maybe it was just his general fearlessness toward most things. It didn't really matter, though. He had a feeling he would be doing the same thing he was doing right now even if he was afraid of heights.
What was that?
Offering free window cleanings to office buildings, of course! Why? Because he needed to touch them! Why? Boy, you sure are asking a lot of questions! It was for reasons! So here he was, anchored securely via a mountain climbing rappelling line, squeegie in hand, moving along the third skyscraper today in order to give them a good old fashioned scrubbing! He smiled, and wiped sweat from his brow as he reached a hand down, and let go of the squeegie, sending it down to the soapy water tub below with his power. With a splash, it hit, and he smiled, reaching out to call the tool back to his hand again, maybe making a Farwars sound effect to himself while he did so.
What? No one was listening! Freshly soaped up, he started cleaning once more, a big smile on his face. Sure, it was hard work, but it felt nice to know that he was making his city that little bit prettier, and in the end, it would help him be a better hero!
He imagined rocketing through the skyline like PowerMan and let out a content sigh before getting back to work, practicing his Heroic quips as he did. "Ah-hah! It is I, from the Sky! One in a Million is here!- no... One in the Million, Swooping in to safe the day!" Oh, he would have to workshop that one...
He followed Juniper and his new friend, her uncle into the alley, a strange feeling of conflicting contentment and worry washing over him. Was Juniper okay? She... didn't seem okay. He knew her well enough to know when she felt like running away. He knew that look on her face.
Keith told her to take care of him. His brow furrowed. "Uhm, what?" He looked to Juniper.
She... She was starting to cry? His eyes slowly widened. What was- She apologized.
He fell into blackness. Panic. He felt himself land. It was dark. So dark. Had... Had Juniper killed him?! He reached up and touched his face. He wasn't dead. Oh... OH it smelled!
He coughed. Where was he? His hand drifted to his side... SQUELCH... "Oh..." That... that wasn't a pleasant texture... Even in the darkness, his eyes clenched closed.
He used his other hand, trying to dig out his phone. There! Flashlight...
The light kicked on, causing several rats to scatter in all directions. What had just happened?! JUNIPER! He jumped up, landing in a disgusting swill of waste of all types. Coughing again, he looked around with his flashlight until he saw what he was looking for. A ladder. He was up in in moments, forcing off the manhole cover and throwing himself up onto the street. "JUNI!" He looked around in a panic... The streets were crowded. He couldn't see them.
He looked about in a panic. Damnit, he couldn't fly here yet... No with any effectiveness... He started to run, trying to find his friend.
Xavier smiled sheepishly. "Heh... Megan, if you really want me to stop, I will! I just thought you might like it!" There were spiders that ate fish, after all. It felt nice to have someone else make something for you now and then, right?
He didn't hear the other young man freak out about his flight; after all, he was busy digging through the pantry. Now that they were all seated, though, he tilted his head as the Irish man asked if they were in a school in response to his question.
Megan replied, but he couldn't help but be curious. "You seem nice to me! Why would anyone say you were dangerous?" He did know that there were a lot of misconceptions about mutants... some countries were even quite terrible to their mutant populations. Even the states didn't always have a great track record. Things were a lot better now, at least...
"Oh, she makes shakes! It's the best way to suit her dietary needs while sticking to what she can eat." He nodded a bit, smiling as he saw her eating. Good! He would have to ask them to order more things he could prepare like that. It wasn't a bother to prepare, after all.
"So... Are you planning on joining the team, then? Or were you just sent here for safety?" This question seemed to draw an intent interest when it came to waiting for the answer.
