The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Part of Henrietta couldn't believe she was doing this, but it was a small part. The larger part was all for it.She never knew how fun it was to have friends that didn't judge every little aspect of her. She just didn't know anything different, which made her feel like she knew not much at all.
The brunette felt a small tug when Maya grabbed her hair. It felt a little odd. It didn't hurt, but it wasn't a sensation she was absolutely used to.It seemed the other girl was being careful about her hair. Henrietta grinned. Her kindness would most likely be her downfall. Peeking over the table, she looked at Maya.
>> "Ready?... Steady, go."
As soon as the word 'go' was said, Henri made her hair pull at the girl's arm. It felt like she almost had her arm pinned, but she couldn't be sure at the moment. She was a little distracted by her own giggling. Being that it was a little early in the morning, the girl was tired. It was the hyper kind of tired though. She wasn't sure if that was a good thing, but she was awake all the same.
Chris looked a little surprised when her hair moved. Henrietta smiled. He looked less nervous now that he knew she was a mutant too. She was glad that her being a mutant was good for something.
>> "Yeah, I am. No worries - that was one of the most unrude ways I've ever been asked that."
Henrietta stopped smiling as big as she had been. Humans were cruel. She could about imagine the horrible things people had said to him. Henri was a little surprised when she first saw the boy. He looked as if he was from some sort of lake, but she tried not to just look at appearance. He seemed nice and that was always more important. Maybe she would feel differently if she had more of a physical mutation. To her, her own appearance was very important. She didn’t judge other people by them though.
Back at her old school, appearances were very important. Henri always tried to look her best. Her ‘friends’ would say some kind of mean thing if she didn’t look as good as they thought she should. Since then, she became very self-conscious about her appearance and what people thought of her. The only appearance she judged was her own, in reality.
>> "You... you mean the Xavier School? Yeah, I've heard about it. So you live there? How is the place? Uhm, would you mind if we could walk for a while? Just to keep warm."
Henri nodded and began to walk. “It is pretty cold, huh?” Answering his first series of question, she smiled. “Yeah, I live at the Xavier School.” As they walked along, she looked down at the ground. “It’s a very nice place. Very large and the people are pretty nice, in general. I enjoy being somewhere where I feel I can be myself.” She looked up at the boy. “Somewhere that isn’t so judgmental. You know?”
>> "I bet some people'd love to do anythin' we do inside this school."
Henrietta never thought about that very much. She assumed most people would hate to be mutant. People sure made a big fuss out of it. Anti-mutant rallies had become a big deal, so it seemed. Rapunzel had never seen or knew about all the hate there was for mutants. It wasn’t a huge topic back home. No one ever came out as one, as far as she knew. When she had seen the reaction of the salon back home, she realized that most ‘normal’ people probably had such a reaction.
>> "Wanna give it a try?"
Smirking, Henri kneeled so her hair was level with the table. The only part of her face seen over the table was her bright blue eyes. She made her hair crawl onto the table. It moved into a position opposite of Maya. The brunette couldn’t help but giggle a little. “Bring it on.”
Henrietta began to cough. Clay came out of her mouth. She opened her eyes and saw that the boy was on top of her. Blushing, she said, “Thank you. You saved me, right?” For some reason, she felt very embarrassed. It may have had to do with the fact that she had never been so close to a boy, or that she had done something kind of stupid. “I shouldn’t have stuck my arm into that thing, huh?” Blinking, she realized water was hitting her. She then noticed that there were sprinklers on. “Um, I’m sorry, but can you get up? My ribs hurt. It’s also feeling a little moist down here.”
Twyla asked the two teenagers that were lying in a heap, if they were okay. Henrietta wasn’t sure if okay was the word. She hurt and was getting sick of all the nasty clay. She then asked the two if she wanted to know what they were doing. Henri laughed, embarrassed. "Don't worry. Nothing's going on." The blonde was up walking around now. Henri was glad she was able to stand now. It appeared that she was looking for something. Henri couldn’t think of what that would be. She seemed to be dazed either from pain or the lack of oxygen she had experienced.
Her friend must’ve found what she was looking for, because she came back over. She was carrying a white box-shaped thing. White box…First aid kit? Yeah, that’s what it was. Twyla looked very worried or frightened. She wasn’t sure which emotion it was. It may have been a combination of the two. Which was very understandable.
Now that she had time to take everything in, she realized that everyone was having a difficult time. Henri wished she could be of more help, but her hair could only do so much. Thinking of her hair reminded the brunette that she should probably check on it. Part of her was a little nervous. She wasn't sure why, but maybe she was afraid her hair had been ripped out. Either way, she would have to know at some point. She brought her hand up to touch it. It was very sticky from the clay, but it was getting cleaned off by the sprinklers. Henreitta let out a sigh of relief.
Henrietta and Twyla had become lost in the Prima J music. Dancing and giggling in the Mansion's one of many hallways. They were enjoying themselves and had forgotten why they had left the brunette's room, so it seemed. This continued until a new sound entered the area. A voice.
A girl had stopped to talk to them from the 2nd floor. She looked like she had been working out before coming across the two hyper teens' dance session. Twyla introduced the girl as Emerald. "Hello Emerald. Like she says, I'm Henrietta. You can call me Henri or Rapunzel if you want. Nice to meet you." Henri was just meeting people all over the place. She loved it. The more she talked to people, the more people she'd get to know. The more people she got to know, the more friends she would have. It's funny how things worked that way.
Remembering why she had left Henri's room, Twyla went into her own. After a few seconds, the blonde reappeared holding two very large pairs of socks. Excitedly, Twyla asked, “Aren’t these the most amazing things you’ve ever seen!?” Rapunzel grinned when she threw a pair to her. "These are awesome! And giant!" She held them up and twirled as if modeling a dress. When she stopped, she giggled. "Very cool. Great idea, Twyla." Henrietta really did think it was a great idea. She wasn't sure why, but it seemed fantastic. Giant socks. What a concept for a hyper 16 year-old to behold!
Oh, okay, Henrietta thought, though he didn't seem sure. She had just been checking. He seemed quite nervous around her and his voice sounded weirdly old. It probably had to do with the nervousness or maybe he just had an old-sounding voice. She highly doubted the second option though. The brunette knew what it was like to be nervous around people. She could completely understand that. Still, she felt like she had done something wrong to make him act that way.
>> “Act like you’re talking to me,” the boy said.
He leaned toward her as if they were talking. She felt her face get a bit red. What was he doing? He didn't actually focus on her. Deciding that he had his reasons for this, she began to talk to him. She didn’t mind if the boy wasn’t actually paying attention. “I’m Henrietta. You probably saw me dancing and think I’m weird now.” She stopped for a minute and wondered what he was trying to do. Why did she need to pretend to talk to him? Was he in some kind of trouble?
>> "Actually do you know where Central Park is?"
Henrietta glanced at his face. “Yes. I go there sometimes.” The girl still wasn’t sure what was going on, but he seemed in a hurry and kept glancing around. She wondered if someone was after him or something of that nature was going on. “If you want to go there, I can show you how to get there.” Henri first wanted to know his name. If she didn’t ask, she’d feel a bit stupid for going off with him. The name may not have made any real difference in her safety, but it made her feel a bit better all the same. “What’s your name?”
>> "Eh... Chris. Chris Berg. Hi. Thanks, I... uhm... I have all my stuff in this bag, I would've been in real trouble if you hadn't stopped him. Thanks for reacting so fast!"
“Hi, Chris. It’s nice to meet you.” She felt odd that she hadn’t given her last name too. “Well, my name’s Henrietta Braun. Some people call me Henri or Rapunzel. Feel free to also if you’d like….Oh, you’re welcome.” Henrietta smiled at the boy and held her hand out so he could shake it. He was fidgety. She realized he must’ve felt self-conscious about something.
No longer being able to keep her curiosity bottled up, she finally decided to ask her question. “I’m not trying to be rude. I was just wondering, are you a mutant too?” After she said it, she noticed that the ‘too’ was probably a giveaway, but she continued. “I am.” A piece of her hair drifted up and waved. She hoped that it wouldn’t frighten him.
Henri noticed the boy seemed to be homeless or something of the like. She felt bad, especially since all his stuff was in that little bag. “If you need somewhere to stay, there’s always the mansion. They’re very accepting there. It’s already starting to feel like a home to me.” The brunette gave the boy a kind smile.
>> "Well, on the plus side, ya can shape it however ya want, right? The dream of every hair stylist. It might make ya America's Next Mutant Model. Hair care companies would kill for havin' ya as their face."
Henrietta laughed and blushed at the same time. “Well, I’m sure some people would love to be able to do what I do with my hair. It’s nice and not so nice all at the same time.” It really was. It was nice in the sense that it was helpful in some situations, but not so nice because it never wanted to do what Henri wanted it to do. She had learned in the short time since she discovered her power that it was not the kind of hair that was easy to care for. It was high maintenance, some might say.
>> "How tough is tough?"
She tilted her head sideways. “It would take diamonds and/or a lot of pressure. Why?”
>> "A wonderful solution, Henrietta. What are you looking for today?"
Henrietta smiled at Noel. “I just wanted to look for some clothes that I can afford. If you’re sure you want to come with, you may. I just don’t want to ruin your shopping day. What are you looking for, Noel?” Rapunzel didn’t want to interrupt them. Honestly, she could’ve done this on her own, but it was getting too intense to blow either person off. Plus, she didn’t want to offend them.
The two were giving each other dirty looks and Henri could feel the tension in the cold, winter air. Trying to make everything better, she offered the first thing to come in her mind. “We should definitely go where the two of you would like to go also.” The brunette glanced at both Juka and Noel. Smiling, to answer Juka’s question, she pointed across the street to a store. “That’s where I was headed.”
>> "That's what we're here for, right? To do all kinds of awesome stuff. Like killin' monsters. An' stealin' reflections. An' liftin' baskets."
Henrietta laughed. “Especially stealing reflections and lifting baskets. Those are always important things. I don’t know where I’d be if I couldn’t lift things with my hair.” She stopped. Smirking, she finished her thought. “Well, maybe I’d be in my hometown if my hair wasn’t weird. I’d much rather be here though with my freakish hair. I actually have real friends here.”
Maya poked Henri’s hair. The brunette didn’t blame her. Her hair was quite a bit different from normal hair.
>> "Looks like ya've got strong hair, sista"
Rapunzel smiled. “Yeah. It is on the tough side. Sometimes it’s hard to brush it out if it gets really tangled. You can try cutting it with scissors if you want. A lot of people get surprised when their scissors break in half or the blades bend.”
Henrietta was walking in the park. She loved it in the winter. Well, Henri always loved outside. Her walk was very peaceful... until she heard someone yelling. "Hey, stop! Give that back!" She turned and saw that someone had been pushed onto the ground. Her first reaction was to help the person up, but the man he was yelling at was running toward her. She assumed that the person was a thief, so she stuck out her foot and tripped the man.
He looked up at her with anger on his face. She had stopped his retreat. Henrietta had done this without really thinking. What if he had a weapon? She doubted he did. He didn’t look like he thought out the situation well. The man left the bag where he fell, and then he got up and ran.
After picking up the bag, she walked over to the person who it had been taken from. Henrietta was surprised when she saw him. He looked very different, but she didn’t feel afraid. Was he a mutant too? She assumed he was since his appearance was quite different. Henrietta smiled at the poor thing and held the bag out. “This is yours, right?”
As she waited for the person to take the bag, she introduced herself. “Hello. I’m Henrietta.” Curious, she asked him a second question. “What’s your name?”
When Henrietta had glanced at the boy, he moved his hair over his left eye. She felt bad because he looked nervous. Her breathing was still a little difficult. The brunette decided that as soon as her breath was coming easier, she would go. Maybe part of the nervousness had come from the fact that she was randomly dancing around. Henri was just playing. She wasn’t crazy, just free.
Usually she would’ve been scared what people thought of her, but since all of her “friends” lived tons of miles away, she felt she could be herself. What she called friends and what most people called friends were two totally different things. Most normal people’s friends were people who were nice to them. Henrietta’s version of a friend back home, were people who stepped on her and treated her like dirt. They talked to her though. They actually talked to her.
The boy seemed to be lost in his thoughts. She wondered what he was thinking about. He also seemed a bit lost. Henrietta didn’t want to frighten him, but she did want to help him. She didn't want someone to just be sitting around and not know where to go. It would be scary. At least her mother had dropped her off at her destination. “Excuse me. Are you lost?” The brunette wasn’t an expert on the area, but she did know how to get from here to there.
Maya had begun to make Henrietta’s own reflection start to move and do something different than what its original was doing. Henri watched in amazement. It almost made her freak out, but it was way too cool. She wasn’t sure what her reaction should’ve been.
Rapunzel watched as the girl traveled between different mirrors and whatnot. She jumped out and landed in front of the brunette when she was done. Henrietta wiped the blank look off her face and smiled. She clapped to show the other girl how cool and impressed she was.
>> "That's how I travel. Kinda teleportin', I guess. So. End of demonstration."
“That’s very, very awesome.” Henrietta thought for a minute. “Hmm…” She began to glance around as if looking for something. Once she found it, she walked over and picked it up. In her hand was a basket with a handle. There were some magazines and newspapers in it. It weighed about 30 some pounds or so.
Grinning at Maya, she held the basket up a little closer to her head. A few strands of hair wrapped around the handle and lifted it into the air. Her hand was no longer on the basket at all. Her hair lifted the load as if it were lifting weights. Henri laughed.
After Gawain had pulled Twyla out, the two fell to the ground. Henrietta’s arm was still stuck, but she was relieved to see her best friend’s face was no longer stuck in the clay. Taking a deep, relaxing breath, she smiled slightly. Sprinklers had turned on and her arm started to slide out of the muck. The creature saw Henri and used its makeshift arms to pull her near.
She was about shoulder-deep in the clay. Even tugging with all her might and flailing her hair around like knives, did not release the brunette. With Henrietta’s other arm, she grabbed the top of her shoulder and pulled. Nothing happened. Panic began to surface in the girl’s mind. I’m going to die. It’s going to smother me….
At some point, the creature managed to do another yank. Her entire face would’ve gone into the disgusting muck, but she turned her head slightly, but not slightly enough. Clay was starting to slide into her mouth. Henri tried coughing it back up, but it slid into her nose as well. She focused on making her hair cut at the thing and it would’ve continued to do so if the brunette hadn’t been starting to pass out.
>>"Sorry? Seriously?....Girl if ya live in the kinda mess I live in, ya show deep respect for anyone who cleans up. Geez, Mom would flip if she saw my room..."
Laughing, Henrietta still blushed slightly. “I didn’t want you to think that I was trying to clean up after you. I didn’t want to offend you.” Henri never wanted to argue or offend someone. She was always careful about that, unless it was her mother. Her offspring’s kindness had not extended to her since she became ashamed of her only child. Of course the brunette still loved her maternal parent, but she was hurt and hated that her mother seemed like she was trying to hide her.
After the embarrassment had faded, she followed Maya into the living room. The girl looked around the room. Henrietta assumed she was looking for a mirror for demonstration.
>>"Just watch."
Her new friend faded into the mirror. Henrietta felt her jaw slacken a little. The girl Inside the reflective surface waved. “That’s so amazing…” The brunette had never seen anything like it before.
>>"And this is not all. Come closer."
Henrietta moved toward the mirror. She felt a bit nervous. What was she going to do? “What is it?”
