The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Henrietta could tell that Twyla was trying to backtrack. All the ideas that came next made the brunette feel a lot better. "That's so cute! He did tell me to call him. I like this theory a lot better Twyla. It would be awesome to have a boyfriend. Did I tell you that I'd never been on a date or anything before? It's so weird. When I'm with Van, I feel less nervous about everything. Just having him with me makes me stop worrying." Henri blushed slightly and proceeded to shove about 4 chips in her mouth at once. She finished chewing and then took a deep breath. She was now trying to take the attention off her red face. "But anyway, if we could go out again sometime, I'd really enjoy that. You'll have to meet him sometime, Twyla." She tried picturing the two in the same room and cringed at the image of them smacking each other. Hm, maybe when I know for sure we'll be going out a while. No need to rush anything, right?
"Oh no. Do you really think so? After all those places he took me?" Henri bit her lip. "I mean, I wouldn't hate him if he liked guys, but I'm not a guy. That would just screw up everything, Twyla. How am I supposed to go on dates with a gay guy? He seemed to be digging me." The girl stopped and blinked. "I can't believe I just said 'digging me'. Anyway, how do I find out for sure if he has a thing for people with...things? I can't just ask him, can I? I have feeling that could be frowned upon and a little insensitive."
Twyla stated that everything said at the table was confidential and Henri nodded in agreement. The next thing that was brought up was about the healthiness of their meal. The girl looked at the cheese with vegetables and the bowl full of chopped up vegetables. "This it totally healthy. Your's has dairy and vegetables. You won't have to eat a salad or drink milk for weeks. I won't have to eat vegetables for months." The girl smiled at Twyla to let her know that eating this delicious Mexican food was no sin.
"So, about the Big News..." Henrietta crossed her left leg on top of her right one and ate a chip. "Van came to the door the other night. He asked if I wanted to go out. He took me to this concert. I guess he really liked this band. They were pretty cool. I'm not a big fan of mosh pits, but oh well. Oh, it turns out his cousin is a big bouncer guy that works there." She popped another chip into her mouth and chewed. "Afterwards, he took me to this spot where he said I couldn't tell anyone about. It meant a lot to him and I felt like I was invited into his world. It was awesome, but..." The girl looked at Twyla. "I wasn't sure if I was suppose to kiss him. I guess I wasn't suppose to because he poked my noise and then told me to call him. What does that mean anyway?" Henri spun the stool around slowly.
I would like to second the nomination for Twyla. She's an awesome writer and she always puts lots of thought into her posts. I always enjoy being on a thread with her. I think most people who post with her do.
After a long day of sitting around on her butt, Henrietta Braun had decided to go for a nice walk. It had started out as looking in little shops, but it eventually got to a point where the brunette stopped focusing on her direction. A stream of random thoughts had carried her mind off somwhere completely different, even if her feet kept going in a straight line. Hmm...Shops around here sure are expensive. I don't know how my mother expects me to be able to buy anything with the lack of money she sends me. She came to a stoplight and waited a minute for it to turn red so she could cross. I guess I could try to get a job, but I'm not good with manual labor. She would say it was all the more reason to get one. The girl let out a sigh and continued to stray in a generally northern direction. Truth is, I'm way too scared to work somewhere out here. I'd be so afraid of getting mugged or something..
As she thought about getting mugged, she paid no attention to the fact that she had been followed for a few blocks now. The two younger men were still trailing her at the moment. I wonder how long you're suppose to wait to call a guy after a date. I hear they scare easy. I don't want to make Van jumpy or anything... Turning onto a different street, she barely noticed the fact that there weren't tons of people on it. She passed a frail old woman with a horrible bright blue colored wig. That's unfortunate. It reminds me of a blue skunk. It even has a stripe looking mark too. What if people did wear roadkill on their heads? We'd probably all need nose plugs to keep us from passing out from the fumes. The girl stuck her tongue out in disgust at the thought.
Walking a little farther down the street, she realized that there was no where else to go. Putting her left hand on her hip, she scratched her head. "Where was I going? Good thing my head's attatched or I'd probably lose it." Henri squinched her eyes when she said this. Her mother had always told her that, but it never made any sense to the girl. She was usually very careful about where she placed things. Maybe her mother had meant about her spacing off. It was more of a frequently occuring event when she had been about 12. Things would make her ponder and she wouldn't realize where she was going.
Sighing, she began to turn around to leave the way she had came. She jumped slightly when she noticed that the two men were standing in the middle of the alley. Henrietta just looked at them a moment and walked up to them. "Excuxe me, I need to get passed you." She began to walk around them when a shorter man with a large mustache put his arm out to stop her. Looking at him, the girl stepped back slowly. The taller man had dirty blonde hair and a case of bad acne. He had a raspy sounding voice that cracked slightly when he talked. "Just give us your money and you can go wherever you want." If only this guy could've heard me thinking about my lack of money. Sighing, she pulled her pockets inside out. "I probably have as much money as you guys do."
Shoving her pockets back in, she got a little closer. "Excuse me." Panicking, the taller man pulled out what looked like a switchblade. Henri just stared at him. "I don't have anything!" The shorter man looked at his friend and squinted. "Come on, man. She doesn't have anything." The blonde's hand was shaking. His voicre trembled and he looked like he was on some sort of withdrawal. "I NEED money! Besides, she'll just rat on us. You know that..." The man with the mustache shook his head. "You're cracking, man." Sighing, he leaned against one of the alley walls."Do what you want, but I want nothing to do with this."
As the tall man approached her, Henrietta's hair began to flare around. She could feel herself shaking. This was even scarier than the first time a man had come at her with a knife. This man seemed crazy. The other one had turned out to be a coward but this one, he seemed out of it. He had a very far away look in his eyes. Oh god. What am I supposed to do?
Twyla and Henrietta had called a girl talk session. She was suppose to meet her blonde friend in the dining room. As she walked in, she smelled the declicious scent of Mexican food. Seeing it layed out, she ran over and looked at it. Yum! The girl glanced up at Twyla and smiled. "I see you got the goods." She laughed and pulled out a chair to sit down. Taking a chip, she dipped it into the salsa, and then stuck it in her mouth. "Mmmmm.." Grinning, she spun on the stool and wrapped her arms around herself.
Placing herself to face back in the direction of her friend, she sat up very straight and pounded her fist lightly on the counter. In a very powerful, authoritative voice she said, "I now declare this girl talk in session." Henri took another chip and ate it plain this time. Chewing, she made a happy humming noise. "I love chips. I do have to say I like them even better with tomatoey, oniony, cilantro-y, peppery goodness though." Looking Twyla in the eyes, she propped her head on her hand.
Juka spoke about his singing. Henrietta grinned at the mention and thought of J-rock. "I love J-rock!" She felt her face turn a red color. The girl had never shared her love for Japanese music with anyone before. It had never really popped into a conversation before. Most people didn't listen to it, or even know what it was. Twyla said that they would definitely be there and the brunette nodded vigorously in agreement. She liked Juka and J-rock. How could the combination be anymore cool? Going with Twyla would only make it better. The girl smiled as she thought about all the new friends she had made sense moving to New York. Being here made her a lot happier than she had been in Springfield.
As she looked at her two companions, she watched one, Juka, fly into the air inside a bubble. Henri watched as he floated to the higher bar and then made his way to the lower one. He wasn't the most graceful person she'd ever seen on bars, but who was she to judge? She probably couldn't do that at all. One thing that Henrietta was good at, was pole vault. If only they had something for me to go over the bars with. The brunette glanced around and then decided to give up. Instead, she watched as Twyla did some sort of backwards thingy. She was pretty sure it was called a backhand spring, but wouldn't bet her life on it.
Henrietta debated what she wanted to do. Bars were not going to happen and she knew that. There had to be something. A thought hit her. Grinning, she began to slide into the sideways splits. She came all the way down and then rolled forward into a type of tumble she watched the local dance team do at school. Standing up, she leaned to her right side and grabbed her leg as if to stretch, but then brought into straight up into the air. Releasing her leg, she went into a spin. The girl stopped and almost fell over. Uh-oh...Dizzy. After stumbling for a few seconds, Henri blinked to straighten out her vision. Laughing, she rubbed at her eyes.
Juka tried to comfort Henrietta about her lack of grace. Laughing, the brunette scratched her head. He said that he danced and sang. He pulled a spin and then Twyla did as well. The girl smiled. "I know how to dance. I'm not amazing, but I'm not horrible either." Putting herself into a spinning position from her jazz class, the girl prepped and did a double spin. She didn't dare try a triple. Even Twyla couldn't do that. Henri stopped and thought about trying to pull herself on to bars. "I'm just not sure how much upper body strength I have."
Speak of the devil. They walked into a room full of gymnastic equipment. Low and behold, there were bars! Henrietta felt herself cringe slightly. The girl hadn't even been very good on monkey bars. She couldn't imagine herself trying to do some sort of flippy things on theses suckers. Twyla seemed excited though, so Henri made herself give an approving smile. Whoopee...Killer metal bars of death...And they're even uneven! Oh joy... This time, a real smile sprouted onto her face. She gestured to the bars. "Show me what you got, girl!" The brunette was authentically excited to see her best friend do something amazing, but not so much to try something herself.
Glancing at Juka, she smiled. "Besides dancing, is there anything else you enjoy doing exercise wise?" Henrietta stopped a minute and grinned to herself. Sweet, I rhymed. I should write poetry. Deep down, the girl knew she shouldn't. She loved to read and wasn't a terrible writer, but poetry was one of those things that she could never imagine herself doing. She didn't even enjoy reading some types of it. Well, at not least the ones that didn't rhyme. There were so many different types of poetry. In her opinion, only Dr. Suess was a real poet.
The boy joked that he was the favorite part of most people's nights. Henri knew that the boy was joking. The small laugh he gave told her this. She gave him a big smile. When he started to lean towards her, Henrietta felt her heart beat faster. Oh man. Is he gonna kiss me?
Tons of thoughts continued to swirl around in her head. Van told the brunette that he had enjoyed their evening as well. Just when she thought she was going to get a kiss, she got a poke on the nose. The brunette blinked and looked at him. He made a "call me" sign with his hand. Henri laughed. "I'll do that. I do still have your number on the back of that picture you snuck into my pocket." She grinned at the thought of the boy sneaking the picture into her pocket.
She turned toward the gate to walk in.The last thing she heard the boy say that night was his good-bye. Facing back towards him, she yelled after him. "See you Van!" -- After getting inside, she took off her dress and put on her pajamas. Yawning, she pulled her covers back and hopped into her bed. It may be a little early in the day for a nap, but I didn't get any sleep at all last night.
Thinking about the date, she drifted off to sleep thinking about the boy who had taken her to the shiny junkyard. She would definitely call him. There was no doubt in her mind.
I like that second idea a lot too. I'm totally up for that. I probably won't start it for a day or two because I'm staying at a friend's house tonight. I will PM you the thread as soon as I start it, unless you want to start it. I wll get this started as soon as I can.
I'm thinking I want Henrietta to get to know about some of the other mutant groups. I'm especially interested in the Kabal. I haven't completely decided where I want Henri to go to. I know I want her involved in one of the factions at some point though. I was just wondering if anyone would like to be in a thread where she could talk to someone not from the Mansion about mutant rights.
Besides that little bit, I'm pretty open to ideas about how they'd meet and stuff. If anyone's interested, please let me know! I've been wanting to do something like this for a while.
The couple were now standing at the gates to the Mansion. Henrietta looked at Van. She had had a lot of fun. What should I do? I don't know if he likes me, likes me...or just likes me. Thinking this made her feel like a little kid because that's how they had always expressed crushes in elementary school. It was the only way she could think of putting it though. Did he just want to be friends? Did he want to go out again? Oh, god. What do you do when you kiss someone?! Am I supposed to kiss him?
She continued to look at the boy for a minute. Red-faced, she glanced towards the large building that she was now living in. She found herself wondering if Twyla or any of the other students could see them. It wasn't too bright out yet, so probably not. Henri stepped a little closer to Van and looked up at him. "So, I had a lot of fun. You sure know how to show a girl a good time. Where as I did like all the stuff we did, I'd have to say you were my favorite part." It felt like something was fluttering around in her stomach. Did I swallow a butterfly or something? Well, technically, it was butterflies, but not the kind she was thinking of.
Henrietta listened to the girl talk about her age. She had said she was fourteen. The brunette tilted her head slightly. Really? She’s that old? The girl was surprised by her age. She seemed so adorable in a little kid way. Her intelligence seemed quite high though. She even talked about building a robot. Henri wasn’t sure, but she figured that took a lot of skill and smarts to build robots. She knew that she probably wouldn’t be able to build anything technical and complex inher life. She was pretty smart, but she wasn’t made to be a genius, just run decently fast around a track. She had been graced with gazelle legs.
The girls both talked about sisters. Henri frowned slightly to herself. There wasn't much she could add to this conversation. The girl had no idea what it was like to have a sibling. She knew what the general idea was, but still, she had no personal experiences to share. There was nothing comforting to say to the small girl. She didn't know if the two girls would reconcile or not. Henrietta guessed it would depend on the reason they stopped talking or whatever. There was a decently big gap between all their ages. Maybe that had something to do with it.
All of a sudden, little Ruby was in a fox form. She ran around playing and being absolutely cute. Henrietta smiled and watched her. Twyla picked her up when she made it seem like that’s what she was wanting. Reaching over, she pet the little fox. She smiled happily to herself as she stroked the girl's soft coat. The blonde set her back down on the couch next to her. It probably was kind of awkward to hold a fox you knew was actually your friend's sister. Henri tried not to dwell on it since the other girl obviously wanted that to happen.
"So, Ruby. Is it really cool being able to shift into a fox? I would love to have four legs sometimes. I bet that makes you pretty fast, huh?" Henrietta smiled at Ruby. Turning to Twyla, she grinned. "Isn't she so cute? I think that would be an awesome power."
Emerald announced that she had to go because her sister texted her and asked her to lunch. Twyla said her good-byes and then Henri smiled and waved. “Bye, Emerald. It was awesome to meet you. I’ll see you later, I hope. Have fun with your sister!”
Twyla continued to lay on the floor a minute even after she said she was getting up. The girl sighed and then giggled. Henrietta giggled as well and then stood up. Looking down at the girl, she offered her hand to help her up. “You can do it!”
After both girls had left, Henrietta had begun the cleaning of her room. This may take me a while… Instead of getting mad, she just chuckled and picked her garbage off the floor. Hopefully they’d be able to hang out again really soon…
