The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Oh, man... I really hope you didn't do what I think you did... Don't you know you're supposed to crush em up, stupid?" Saph blinked a few times, looking down at the pill on the table.
"Wait, how do you know these things? Oh god, don't tell me you've- wait... nope... Not askin. So, buddy, what's your name?" He asked as he stood and headed out the door with them, swaying a little bit as he walked.
"Uh.. uhm... Phil." Saph grinned widely, putting an arm around the young man's shoulder. "You look like a Phil... You really do." He could tell the kid was in way over his head... I mean, he didn't he know not to crush up the pill! "Here's the deal, Phil... You, and us... We're gonna hang out tonight. Who knows! You might not wake up tomorrow, so how about we make the best of this night, huh?" He was pretty sure Phil was very close to peeing himself.
"To the next bar!" Even he wasn't sure what they were doing with the potential date rapist, here, but if they could scare the crap out of him for a whole night straight, maybe he would rethink the path he was trying to walk... That, or they would kill him or something... Meh. "Wachu wanna do first on this fine night, Charlotte?" That's right... It was getting late, but this night was juuuuust beginning.
Saph guffawed as the girl in front of him disappeared, apparently finding the floor her best comfort after a lost fight with gravity. He shook his head as he grabbed his beer, and drained it, pausing as he felt something in his mouth afterward... The hell? He spit out that he assumed was a cigarette butt or something, but it turned out to be... A pill?
"The @%#^ is this?" he eyed the slightly dissolved pill for a moment, and then looked the closest bartender... He'd been around long enough to recognize a rufie. Did... the bartender try to rufie him? "Megan... get up... Something's up here." He was pretty lucky the whole thing hadn't dissolved... hell, it looked like it had only been in there for a bit... Maybe it took longer for them to melt than it did in the movies?
Ohcrap. He wondered how rufied he was... He was beginning to feel dizzy already! It was like he was... oh right, he was drunk. Well, maybe he was both drunk and rufied?
He noticed after a moment that his eyes had been locked onto another set... A nervous set... A guilty looking set.
"You..."
"... er... me?"
"Yeah... you... You and I gotta have a little chat."
The X-trainee blinked a few times as another beer was shoved his way... Damnit, he was just getting coherent again! He sighed as he eyes his two full beers dizzily, not even noticing the full, uncrushed pill in the bottom of the bottle. He took a short sip, and looked back to her.
"Now, me and himher have been through a good bit. You better be tellin the truth, cause if there's one thing I've learned about you... You're trouble... With a capital... what ever the @#%$ I was talking about, hic!" He shrugged, and took a drink of his water... "Any chance I could get me some chilly cheese fries? Man, I could really go for some food right about now..." He vaguely remembered eating earlier... chilly cheese fries, actually... Every crappy dive bar had chilly cheese fries. God bless em for it.
He stood for a moment, stumbled a bit, and walked across the bar to go put money into the jukebox... someone was putting on rap music... He couldn't tolerate the stuff... Some nice classic rock... yeaah... that was the good stuff. As he was plugging the songs in, he found himself humming journey for some reason. He paused for a moment, feeling a little odd...
BUUUURP... Nope... Just his imagination. The next thing he remembered he was taking another swig from his beer.
Saphirus said nothing as all of this played out before him... He was too shocked... Who the hell was this girl? No, that didn't matter. What mattered is who she apparently thought she was... And apparently she thought she was someone who could walk in on his perfectly amazing date and talk a load of bulls@#^ about how the woman he loved was a freak, and he was better off with her.
His look of surprise slowly turned into one of anger. He... he wanted to punch her... How could he talk about Andrea like that? How could she try and take his hand afterward? One hit and she'd drop like a sack of bricks... he knew that... but no, he couldn't hit a girl, even if she was a raging B#^^&. Instead, without a thought behind it, he picked up his plate, still full of food, and turned it upside down over her head. A gasp of shock was turned into a gurgle when he, once again, with blank mind, grabbed his drink, and splashed it in her face... He did the same with Andrea's drink...
It was then he noticed there was a fourth person approaching... Oh jees... It was the cook. He'd seen, and come to investigate... Now, there were goin to get kicked out for the mess on the floor... Damnit, what a mess...
"He beat me to it, huh? Ma'am... you're very messy. Please leave my restaurant at once." The cook waved a tentacled appendage at the woman, and two servers came to escort her out. "I'm terribly sorry you two... I heard everything... Some people just don't understand the concept of a happy couple... This meal's on my, alright? By the way... I own this place... Name's Harvey." He gave a wide smile, and then turned to get back to his duties.
"... Thanks... Er... Oh god, Andrea, are you alright?" He stepped forward to pull her into an embrace. "Don't listen to anything that woman said... She's just a complete bi... bad person. A stupid, and bad person."
It would take a while for things to calm down. He had to go through and get another plate, the waiters brought them more water, and they enjoyed a pretty darn good meal... On the house, too! "You know... I think we should come back here some time... Actually pay, you know? Wachu think?"
Saph's sip wasn't so greedy... In fact, he was starting to sober up a little bit... Man, did he have a cut on his face? He rubbed it a little more. The bartender looked at him like he knew he would be bad news when he stumbled in behind Megan.
"Who, Me? I'm Saphirush... I mean... Saph... Call me Saph..." He steadied himself against the bar, and looked around for a moment. They were in a new place... He didn't remember walking here... He needed to cut back more... At least he wasn't drinking hard A anymore... He had that feeling in his gut like he'd thrown up. "Bartender... Could I get a water, too? Thanks."
Jesus, he could really use a shower... "So... How long you been staying at the mansion? Couldn't help but notice that..." He'd been working security; it didn't take long for him to see her an Gawain hanging out. "And... Eh... What're you doin with the team leader... Nuthin he'll regret later, I hope." He knew Gawain had a girlfriend, but the young knight was just that, young... Maybe she and him?
Hmm... Maybe not. She didn't seem to be his type, after all... She was more likely to date a bad person... Someone older, too. Chicks like her always fell for people who were like that. Dangerous, mysterious... Them types. Heh... That's kinda what he was like in the future, wasn't it? Kinda backed up his claim, there.
Wait a sec... did she know he lived at the mansion? Damn, he hadn't thought of that... He supposed she would have found out later anyhow, what with him being around so often... Also, it was hard to miss that he was an X-man, and they were based out of Xavier's. Most of the X-men lived there anyways.
"We watch them while they cook. See that bowl over there?" He handed her a dollar. "Give em a tip!" He paused as he looked at the man who was taking their bowls... Only one cook? Well... He did have eight arms, so perhaps that helped. A gruff looking octopus man gave them a wave as he poured out the bowls onto the grill, careful to use several rather large metal spatulas to divide up the meals, and putting Andrea's in a big pile in the middle.
"You know, most people who order this much are ten feet tall and just about as wide!" The cook chuckled as he tossed the food about, tossing the sauce on top.
Saph's food was ready first, but he stuck around while hers cooked, watching her reaction to the place... It was pretty fantastic... He remembered the first time he'd come to a place like this, way back when.
It wasn't long before they were back at their seats, and he was trying to teach her how to use chop sticks. "No no no... You hold the first one in your hand like this... see? Okay, and then you take the other one, and you hold it like... this, see? Alright, and you- wait... okay, let's try this again." He laughed as she messed up again, and then turned as someone approached the table "Hey, waitress, can you get her a pair of trainer chopsticks?"
Little did he know, it wasn't a waitress at all...

Another punch came in, and he stumbled back once more, making it real convincing by using a nail and a bit of energy to nick himself a little right under the eye, drawing some blood. He guffawed a bit longer, and then stood tall, wiping blood from his face..
"... ere... Lemme give you all a ch- URP! BUUUURP- a chanch... to gitcher money back... I.. I will beat all of you on da punsh mashine... And... and If I win... another 50 from eash of you..." The men looked at each other... they had to win their money back, right? They were drunk, sure, but not enough not to want to win their money back... Besides, this guy was beat up and drunk out of his mind! How could he out punch them?
One by one they took turns smacking the bag up into the machine, reading the measurements with woops and grins. There was no way this moderately build drunk man could outpunch them!
He looked at the highest score for a second... 642... not bad at all... He stumbled into place, losing his balance for a second, and then standing tall again. "Woah... who put that step there....heh... Alrigh..." He turned to the bag, and gave it a good left hook, draining a fair bit of energy...
CRACK!
. . .
999! He held up his hands in victory, and nearly fell on his face, as the men protested, and cried foul... It took them a while to get them to pay, but by now they couldn't take their money back... half the bar was watching.

Yup... Soooooper drunk. Still, he was feeling great! Like... he could punch Godzilla in the face, and the lizard would cry and run home like Forrest Gump. Heh... RUN ZILLA RUUUUN. "Heh... heh heh..." URP! Nope... no puking... Megan said no puking. He stood tall for a moment, and sipped his drink... water... dang.
He looked up at a few men standing around a punching machine, and chuckled as he saw the scrawny spider mutant give it a try. He stood as the woman brought them over... What was goin on? Were they gonna fight? Man, he hoped they wanted to fight. He could punch their faces and be all big man and stuff... Where was he? He looked to Megan, who explained what was going on to him... once... twice... three times before he understood.
And then he understood... Hah! This was the best idea ever! They stepped out of sight of the bartender and bouncers, and got right to it. "Heh... Yeah... knock me out... c'mon, tough guy... y'got this." The first man shook his head, looking to his friends... was he really around to punch this drunk guy in the face? It almost seemed too easy.
They egged him on, and he threw a wicked right hook, catching Saph in the right side. The drunk X-man put on a good enough show of falling over, and bouncing up laughing while holding his face. "Awww... man... that all you got? Heh heh! Next!" The first man grumbled and forked out his cash, cursing up a storm. He was sure he'd thrown hard enough!
It was time for Round number two... this guy was bigger... Same result! The third man stood there for a moment... and then figured the other two might have softened him up. He punched as well; it made no difference. Saph got up and chuckled, stumbling about drunkly.

Saph chuckled as she complained about them not stopping for chilli dogs. "Babe, how do you know you won't like this stuff even more? Y'gotta broaden your horizons!" He opened the door for her to walk in first, inviting her into the fairly large restaurant with a dim, and slightly soothing atmosphere, tempered by the sound of metal utensils smacking against a large grill.
"S'called a mongolian grill... You basically load up a bowl full of ingredients and sauce, and they cook it for ya. The best thing? You can bring as many bowls through as you want at once..." He winked at her... Knowing her appetite, this kinda place was perfect for her. "You pick your meats- two please!- and then your vegetables, and even fruits... then you finish with the sauce... You can make it as mild, sweet, spicy, or salty as you want. Basically, it's all up to you!" The waiter seated them as he explained the system to her, and then asked for what they wanted to drink.
"Water please!" He hadn't eaten at a place like this in a while, and he was eager to see if she would like it. Without missing a step, he stood, and waved her toward the food bar, planning in helping her through the process.

"Heh... yeah... This sounds sad, but I usually get drunk alone." Yup, it really did sound sad. Even sadder saying it out loud. Then again, he didn't usually get this drunk. Wait... what was he talking about? He was hardly even drunk! He was super man! What, he'd only had like... how many drinks had he had now?
To tell the truth, he didn't remember much of what happened around this time of the night. He would never remember belting out Journey at the top of his lungs, nearly falling over, and singing more. He would remember the chili cheese fries, mainly because they wouldn't stay in his stomach very long. Damn where they good going down, though... He would vaguely remember Megan helping him out of this bar, and to the next one... Also, buying mints and taking a minute to relearn how to stand straight before entering the next bar... that he would remember.
One moment that he wouldn't remember at all had to do with a punching machine; I give you Saph and Megan's totally drunk adventure, part 1. Enjoy!
A grin formed on his face as he felt a large hand grasp a candle stick, and slowly place it back... Well, at least he was trying to contain the urge... Maybe he had a chance of making it here after all... Saphirus wasn't really all that surprised at the man's name... Mutants on the streets tended to ditch their birth names fairly early on... He was one such mutant, though he had earned a rather odd name in his time. Saphirus was most definitely not the name he was born with.
He sat at the same time Monstrosity did, eyeing him intently as Andrea disappeared. "So... Monstrosity... Were are you from?" It was a simple question... It was best to ease people into the more profound and nerve wracking questions with pleasant pecks at their life story. He would get into the man's motives soon...
They had some time before Andrea got back; he'd picked a student who was particularly messy, so he doubted she would find a shirt quickly. " Where do you live?"
He had a feeling he knew the answer to that question. Even fairly wealthy visible mutants had a hard time finding friendly housing in this city; it was likely he was homeless.
((We can most likely post a few back and forths before we get to Andy's return IC.))
Quicksand, Boars, Monkeys, and now freaking TREES were attacking them! Saph was busy dealing with half of the island's animal population as the trees starting smacking into the ground in a desperate attempt to smash the good detective; he knew of their actions because he could feel it.
I believe I owe you an apology The thought popped into his head, and he didn't formulate a clear response... He really wasn't the type to rub people's face in their mistakes. He just audibly grunted in response, and kicked a baboon in the jaw... Woah... He never thought he'd ever perform that sort of action on that particular species of jungle creature. This whole experience was just... odd. As he thought that, he felt a tree hit Jorge... and he felt the man's form almost disappear in response.
Crap...
Before he could even begin reasoning that the man was a water mutant, and had a water form, a chipmunk dove at his face, and latched onto his eyebrow. He growled, cursing himself for dropping his guard, and ripped the creature off before it could do any more damage. The stinging sensation, drew a less than silent curse from him as he threw the rodent at a charging boar.
He heard Koga speak up, announcing a wealth of knowledge... The volcano was not meant to be active, the monsters were not supposed to be attacking them, and the quicksand wasn't super abnormal. Good to hear... More importantly, he brought up possible animal manipulators... "Yeah... This has to be a mutant's doing... or several? Perhaps the Island's inhabitants are involved..." He couldn't see one mutant doing all of this... He'd fought against many mutants in his time on the streets, and none of them were strong enough to pull something like this off... Still, he'd been proven wrong in the past. Then again, he wasn't sure if Slate could carry out the chameleon mutant's request... He'd come to the conclusion that the young man, like many other mutants of his type, had to perform some sort of action to link his mind to another... He knew a girl who had to punch the person she was linking with in the face... that, or she really just wanted to punch him. Still, she wasn't able to talk to as many people as Slate seemed to be able to...
A palm tree smacking down just out of range of him made him recall the detectives fate...
Have we lost him? He asked, looking down the beach at something that had caught his eye... Was that?- Before he could complete the thought to himself, he felt a rush of motion from the ocean, and before he knew it they were encased in a swirling dome of water... Impressive, detective... Damn impressive.
"Alright. We sure as hell don't have much time... I think I saw a boat down shore a little bit... If we make it there, maybe we can ride it inland? Wasn't there a small stream on the map? I figure most villages sit not too far from water sources, right? Maybe that's our best bet... If we try to get through the trees... Well... You and I ain't gonna be nearly as lucky as the good detective, here." He motioned to the dome around them... Another note to self; twenty feet wasn't nearly enough... Maybe he would have to meet with the detective from the other side of a football field from now on.
A sweaty hand reached up to wipe blood from his eye... Great, the last thing he needed was a blood obstructing his vision while trying to fend off... what ever was going on here.
He had to say...things were going pretty well. The man the shirted, insisted on carrying the basket Andrea had made for him, which was appropriate, because she'd refused for it to touch anyone's hands but his. Saph was apparently too clumsy. He didn't know what she meant by that... Not at all. I mean, he tended to be a little accident prone around her, but it mainly ended in making a mess of no one but himself. He really couldn't help that he felt a little goofy when she was around; that was nature telling him to look like an arse in front of the person who made you feel butterflies... Perfectly normal.
It just so happened that she tended to appreciate his goofiness around her; part of the many things he loved about her. He sighed as Sloth started acting up, wrapping himself around the young man's rather thick arm, and looking at him with... could snakes be smug? "Sloth... Dangit... C'mon, let the poor boy go... Take a nap or something." He slowly reached for the snake, who tightened his grip for a second, causing his hand to retreat again... He recalled when he'd first met the snake... The thing had lashed out at him, and he'd knocked it more through instinct than anything else, which left it with a permanent scar. It had never trusted him fully after that... Lust turned and investigated the rough hand, buzzing it with his tongue a little. He shook his head... Sloth would probably let go in a second; He was too lazy to put a whole lot of effort into... well, anything really.
He instead got to looking for a good place for them to set up, blinking and tilting his head when he noticed Andrea panicking about something. He walked on up to her, a worried look on his face. "Babe, is something wrong?" He palaced a hand on her shoulder, and looked her up and down... Was Sloth clinging too hard? He knew that if the snake moved too fast or anything like that, it could hurt her neck sometimes. "You alright?"
He looked to Vic for a second, and then to Sloth... It must have been embarrassing for the young man, to be tied her her in such a way. "Er... Hey, I'm sorry about Sloth... He gets a little clingy sometimes."
He got a bad feeling in his gut as he walked into his home; it was the sort of feeling one shouldn't feel when they walked into the place they lived... But for all he knew he was inviting in the demon that would burn this place down.
For once, he felt like he could empathize with Silver Streak, the man who say at the security desk almost three years ago and watched as he fell into trap after trap. He reminded himself the he must have seemed a lot like the big four armed man to the head of security; a strange, disheveled stranger sneaking in under the cover of night. In the end, though, he felt more like he should empathize with the large mutant behind him. He'd been in his shoes, if a little less bold... Any maybe a little more tactful.
"So what is it you want to do with me? You calling the cops?"
"If i were following my better judgment..." He muttered under his breath as Andrea answered, walking toward the kitchen... He was sure to keep his sixth sense trained on the big man, whose movements were easy to pick up; his bulk and inherent strength made most of his movements observable by his ability. That would include him snatching up the expensive silver candle sticks and china as they walked past the spaced out stands in the hallway toward the kitchen; an action he had certainly thought of performing when he had first entered this place.
Heh... it was odd... It was like he'd stepped into the past, though he was in a different man's skin... The would-be theif was a three year young Saphirus, Andrea was the sweet, welcoming woman, Jewel, and He... He was the angry security man... Streak.
He decided then and there he would try to be nice, and more observant than Streak was. "Look... You didn't know what this place was, but it's made for people like us... I was in your shoes once... I know it's hard. You don't need to steal from a place that will gladly give you everything you need and more, though... I warn you, though... This is not an opportunity you want to squander... It's the difference between changing your life for the better, and living on the streets for the rest of your life. Y'got it?" He looked back to the large man, and followed Andrea into the kitchen.
"Babe... do you think you could get one of Mammoth's shirts from the wash? We could prolly cut some extra holes in it..." He eyed the big guy for a moment, and nodded... He should fit in the big, hairy 12 year old's shirt just fine. Heck, he might even be swimming in it a little. "That should hold you over for now... Until then, have a seat... I have some questions I want to ask you... I'm sure you have some too..."
"Saphirus!" A sudden wince was drawn from him as he heard the disapproval in her voice already. "Watch your tongue!" Damnit, now he was in trouble! He stood there for as moment, unsure what to do...
This man had just blatantly told him he was planning on robbing them. "Now wait a minute.... Babe, you should go inside, I agree, but just a second ago this guy here openly admitted to wanting to rob this place... "He took a step toward the four armed monstrosity, pointing at him angrily. "Why the hell should I let you in my home?" He stood there for a moment, and looked the man up and down... Andrea was right... he had very little in the way of clothing... Maybe... Maybe he was poor.
Saph remembered the first time he stood in front of the mansion... Hell, he'd fallen in one of the pit traps as well... Part of him had been hoping to rob this place and head for the hills that day... The bigger part had been hoping to turn over a new leaf, and... well... He'd done just that. The mansion was made to help people like this four armed mutant before him, but only if they were actually trying to change, and learn. Abusing that system was not something the X-Man took lightly.
Turning over a new leaf had been the best decision of his life... Maybe this man deserved a chance too. "Dammit... I want to make this as clear as possible... You aren't stealing from this place. If I catch you trying... You're..." He leaned in so that Only he big man could hear him. "You're dead... Do you understand?" The man growled as he turned and gently guided Andrea inside, sure to stay in between her and the rather large mutant.
