The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The night was merry indeed; this was bar number... five? He'd had a lot less to drink than his compatriot, but he wasn't even closed to ashamed to admit it; fish would be jealous of how well she could drink. He wasn't... Saved him a whole helluvalot of money.
"HAH HAH! And then he was all like... 'You think you can beat me? I'm the biggest bad @$% the world's ever seen!' An' you behind him with the fire hydrant! LIKE A SACK OF BRICKS!" He guffawed more, taking a drink of... what ever he was holding. He thought he remembered going to a liquor store a while back, though she'd had most of that.
"Oh man... An Clive... You think they ever found all of Clive... Heh... You know... I actually kinda missed him. He was like our white whale. Cept, well, you know... We blew him up, so... Different ending." He chuckled, and took another drink. "Hey, I think we're next in line for singing." He pointed at the rather large woman singing 'don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me.'
What were they singing again? She'd selected the song... apparently enough drinks made her a lot more willing to belt out journey or whatever. It had taken a lot, though.
Did he mention she could drink a lot? She really could.
He blinked a few times as she called bull on him. He listened to her with less than sober eyes weary, yet not defeated...
After a few moments, he couldn't help but chuckle a little. "Yeah... I guess you're right. We had a good run, huh? Saved a lotta @%^&in' lives..." He chuckled a little more, and leaned back against the bar. They had done some pretty amazing things... They'd saved more lives than he could even care to count, and put so many bad people in an early grave that death had probably clocked some overtime hours.
"Listen...whatever that.. thing.. was, it won't happen. Not on my life, and not on yours." It was a sobering thing to hear from her; it prompted him to turn toward the bartender, and motion for another round... The man paused for a moment, and then nodded solemnly. He'd come here enough for the guy behind the counter to know that he usually didn't go for round three.
"Yeah... We'll have to make sure of that... I'm really not the type for sappy stuff, and our track record ain't exactly spotless... So let's agree not to make a promise. Promises can be broken." His drinks arrived. He downed the two shots, and gulped down the beer like it was going out of style.
"Whaddya say we follow the green man a little, find a place where you aren't cut off?" He quickly paid his tab in cash, leaving a decent tip. "We can renimi-reminisce... about the good ol' days..." Yes, he was drunk. Was he too drunk to walk? Nope. He was certainly lucky he'd bussed it out here, though; He was in no condition to drive.

I can certainly see Syn being involved, perhaps even persuading some cops to maybe hunt down and attack Maxine just a little? Can we get your input on that, Syn? Think she'd be up for it?
If you would like to take that approach, it sounds great! I can see it working out that way as well. Also, Gina's friends and Order peeps taking revenge early on would work wonders on tensions getting higher before the protests kick off. I don't see protests starting until there is a press release stating that the officers will not be charged. That would give people a chance to roleplay in a high tension environment in which chaos is not yet an issue. Perhaps soon after that announcement, the plot to have Maxine attacked can get rolling?
Talking time frame, I think we could wait as long as a month after the Gina attack for the press release to come up, and the second attack to happen. That would give people enough time to enjoy a less mutant friendly NYC without people smashing in store windows and flipping cars left and right.
After that, we start the protests? Soon after, I imagine people from the Order might not mind escalating the protests into full scale riots?
The riots could find their way into several areas of the city, and the X-men could have missions to quell riots in several places as well. I know that I will be setting up threads with Roach, for any Order members who want to ruin the X's days at every turn. The way he would see it, the X-men would be traitors for siding with the NYPD when it comes to quelling the riots.
That all sound good to you guys? Any more thoughts?
Edit for Alice's post: That's what I was thinking. I want protests before riots, and I would like people to have a chance to go out prepared for a peaceful protest, and have their characters experience everything going suddenly and horribly wrong around them.

Alrighty, so I hear there's been some controversy over the assaults when it comes to the plot; I had some things lined up, and was trying to keep them under wraps, but it appears people preferred it all out in the open.
Gina was to be the second mutant assaulted, kicking off the protests. I wanted it to be a surprise, as I felt it would kick start the plot at the moment at which plots tend to see a bit of a lull.
I wanted Aurion to be the first expressly because he is such a visible mutant; he wouldn't garner the same reaction that a pretty, and innocent mutant would. I felt it would be even more controversial in the end; some people would see it as a monster being fought by officers of the law, and some people would see a helpless mutant that is being flogged because he is different.
I apologize for not being open about everything from the beginning; I hear the C-box has been coming up with some epic ideas for this plot, and I would very much love to hear them here!
As it is, with the cat out of the bag, we may see it fit to break from the original plan and find options that suit MRO better. That said, this, like all MRO plots, will be character driven; I would like to keep things just defined enough for people to know what is going on, without restricting them!

Birds were a problem, but it looked like Jorge and Rebecca had them handled. He was most concerned with the rest of the island's population, which seemed to be coming right at them. The animals that arrived first? A small group of boars. Most people underestimated boars; the thought things like, 'Oh, look at the piggie!', or 'Don't Hawaiians eat these?' Truth be told, though, they were very, very dangerous. Quick, too.
A smirk appeared on his face as his teeth chattered a little. Whether or not Slate liked his method of gaining energy, it was about to make defending him quite easy. The first boar came into range, and Saph placed his right hand and his left hand close together; this made it so that when his ability kicked in, and naturally produced a reflexive spin to put his right hand toward the creature, his left hand could simply poke in and deliver a burst of energy.
This happened three times in rapid succession, splaying out three knocked out pigs, which skid to a stop on either side of the telepath behind him. The X-trainee chuckled as he patted his hands together, but froze as he felt a large number of projectiles flying their way. It turned out the projectiles were coconuts, and monkeys were throwing them.
That's right... There were a bunch of monkeys throwing coconuts at the X-Men. He knocked two out of the air, and let another hit his right side. "They're right... we need to move!" He started a sideways advance, hoping Slate would either stay behind him, or find some other way to avoid being cracked in the head by a bunch of fruit. A quick turn revealed two more charging swine. He beat one back with a rather harsh kick to the jaw, aided by some extra force... The second was stopped by his right hand, which it bit at with laughable results before it was felled with a slap. A coconut did find its way in while he was doing that, though, smacking against his ribs, and pushing the air from his lungs. He kept moving even as he tried to recover...

Saph's eyes didn't leave the large mutant as he looked about with a confused expression. He really didn't know where he was? It was odd, but not uncalled for. Saph had just assumed that most mutants knew about the mansion. Why else would he be there?
"So where exactly am I? Who are you and why should I care about this place?"
"You're at the Xavier school for gifted youngsters... It's a place where mutants go when they need help... And me? I'm a f@%^in X-Man... You, on the other hand, better stay right where you are..."
He looked back to Andrea as the mutant referred to her... She seemed alright. Her snakes were still wriggling about in a confused manner, and there weren't any injuries other than a few small cuts from falling in the bush... He wanted to get her inside, but he didn't trust this guy as far as he could throw him... Wait, that was a bad term, he could probably throw this guy a good city block given enough energy. Well, most of him. As of right now, his hand and wrist were tingling from the fall from the skate, and the jump down the stairs...
He was confident it would be enough to handle this guy, even if he was able to force open one of the pit traps... Damn, that was a pretty impressive feat... Still, his mutation brought new meaning to the term 'the bigger they are, the harder they fall.'

She was fine... He hadn't touched her. He didn't have to kill this guy after all. She was, however, still out cold... He would have tried to awaken her again, but, well, the four armed man spoke up threateningly: "I didn't touch her, I was planning on robbing the place if you must know."
Saph found himself staring at the man blankly, before... wait for it... one more second... "G....K... THCYAHAHAHHAA! Oh, buddy... You have on idea where you are, do you?" He stood slowly, crossing his arms defiantly as the man stepped forward. He didn't want Andrea to be too close if this came to blows, so he took a step forward as well. "You're at the place that has single handedly given the most to our kind, and you want to rob the place? There's a mansion full of really grateful mutants who will have something to say about that... If you even get past me... Spoiler: You won't."
He unfolded his arms, and clenched his crowbar in his right hand, facing the right side of his body toward him in a strange looking fighting stance.
"If you want to give it a go, though... be my guest."

He looked up while she apologized, and then back to his drink... Maybe he wouldn't take it easy... Not tonight. He grabbed his other double shot, and threw it over one lip, gulping down the caustic liquid as if it were the elixir of eternal life. He then stared at the glass for a moment, and set it down.
"She doesn't remember anything... She has nightmares, but... Thank god. I dunno what I'd do if she had to live with that." He frowned at the thought, and drank some more of his beer. He wondered if he was going to get another round, tonight... Usually he stopped at two... Four double shots and two beers was enough for most people, most of the time. Hell, it was a bit much for most people, most of the time.
"I suppose I should apologize, too... I gave you hope in a world where it didn't belong..." Yes, she'd failed to kill Roach, but what had that changed in the end? Here they were, he was... well, he didn't even know if the giant cockroach really existed... Though now that he thought about it, there was something in Andrea's diary about a giant cockroach... He frowned, and gulped down the rest of his beer, letting the bottle fall over on the counter. The bartender have him a strange look as he grabbed the bottle, and the two glasses, and get them out of the way. Even he could tell Saph was drinking faster than usual.

The trip out to the hallway near the kitchen was a kinda long one; apparently enough for a whole lot to happen as he made his way toward where he'd last seen Andrea on the cameras... It didn't help that a student had left a roller skate out, and he'd ended up face planting because of it. Still, his ability took care of most of the force, so it was more annoying than anything. He muttered under his breath as he speed walked to the stairs, opting to jump down the whole set, landing neatly on his right leg.
If he were still in the office, he would hear the beeping of an alert stating that the trap be been damaged; he wasn't, though, so what could you do? The man slowed as he reached the hallway, and saw... well, a mess. The food his girlfriend had prepared was scattered all over the floor, and she was nowhere to be seen. His grip on the crow bar in his hands tightened as he hobbled quickly over to the scene, and looked around frantically... It didn't take long for him to spot the open window, and hurry over.
What he saw when he looked out made his eyes go wide, and then narrow in rage. Andrea was on the ground, it looked like she was unconscious. Before her was a giant of a man with four arms, and a broken pit trap. His blood boiled as the possible causes of this situation ran through his head... He saw the man grabbing Andy from her place at the window, and smashing her into the ground. He saw he pleading for help, and he was too late! He was out the window before the next thought crossed his mind. That thought being... This dude was practically naked. That brought about the image of him doing much crueler things to his beloved.
"You got one sentence... ONE @#$^ING SENTENCE to explain this in a way that won't make you dead." He said as he knelt next to the green girl, and checked her for injuries... She seemed fine, actually... "Andrea... Babe, wake up..."
Hah! She was on her way. His stomach growled a little as he eyed the sandwich she was making him. He patted it calm. "Heh... Woah, there, buddy. It'll be here soon." He was so absorbed in his thoughts that he almost didn't noticed one of the gate's motion sensors going off. The silent red dot lit up, and he pressed a few keys, flicking the screen to the gate and wall cameras... Nothing... He peered closely for a few moments... Sometimes the sensors were set off by stray cats and whatnot, but he had to be sure...
By some random stroke of luck, the giant four armed figure had gotten past the range of the gate cameras. That luck didn't last, however, as one of the pit traps opened up underneath the sneaking mutant's feet, closing over his head as he fell. Saph blinked a few times as one of the trap activation indicators popped up... Well, it looked like they'd caught something... He stood slowly, and grabbed his crowbar... He would have to hurry outside and check on the trap right away... An eye wandered to Andrea on the left most screen... She seemed a bit tangled up... His heart fluttered as he realized she was near where the trap had went off... Maybe they were necessary after all; who ever or what ever had fallen into the trap might have made it all of the way to her.
That is, if it wasn't some poor cat or something. The trainee X-man turned to head toward the exit... Maybe be would check on Andrea on the way out; tell her to get to the safety of her room... or his.
He could make this quick... He knew it... They needed to get her to a healer, and he knew the right people to get it arranged. Without another word, he hoisted the girl onto his back. "Hold on tight..." He supported her with his energy absorbing hand, with made it rather difficult for her to fall off, and grabbed his crowbar. "Jury, I'm going to need the biggest blast you can muster... Remember, right side only." He hoped she could control it that much at least... He supposed he could use his full body absorption, but he could really only do it once per fight, and he had a feeling he would need it.
He immediately started pressing forward, careful to keep Jury out of harms way, and pay attention for any gunmen approaching from behind. He would need that blast to do what he had planned, though... As he stepped into the hallway, bullets started pouring in; he winced as a few hit him; the small arms fire simply bounced off his armor, or stuck in the steely silk of his right side. A toss of his hammer produced a short grunt, and he ducked under cover once again. "Any time now, Jury. Stay with me."
He heard the sound of a desk being flipped on it's side... They'd found cover, and were waiting for him to press forward... That was a good thing, though... It meant they were all in one spot.
He smiled fondly as she spoke to the man... She was so thoughtful, it was scary. A giggling from up and off to the side prompted him to wave the girls upstairs away... Poor girls didn't even know they were barking up the wrong tree. They actually paid attention this time and closed the window as well. As he turned back, Andrea was giving her the apparently customary Greek greeting... It had really confused him back in the day, but Google worked wonders when it came to that stuff.
After a moment, though... his eyes wandered down to the basket... A picnic basket... And then up to the greeting... Cheek kissing. Huh... Why did it feel like he should be remembering something right about now? The vigilante looked up in thought for a moment, but really couldn't think of anything... It was right at the tip of his brain; he hated when that kinda stuff happened.
"It's prolly best we find a place to sit... Uhm... You need a shirt? It's a little chilly out." Indeed, it was starting to get close to winter, and while it was an unseasonably warm day, that still meant fairly chilly for someone who wasn't getting heated up by physical activity. He looked up to the window, and wouldn't you know it, there the teen aged girls were. He waved at them, and the window was slowly opened again. "Hey! You think you could find my friend a shirt?" The giggled and laughed, and then disappeared. He tilted his head a little bit... That wasn't exactly an answer. . .
"Oh, eh, my bad... I'm Saphirus, by the way. You can call me Saph." He turned to hold his hand out to the man, smiling in a friendly manner.
He maintained the smile even as a shirt flew out of the window, and landed on his head. "Gah!" It slid down to the floor, and showed itself off to be a low cut pink V neck. Ahem... Well... He guessed it was better than nothing... And it seemed... well, you know... oddly appropriate. A glance up to the window showed it to be empty. No second requests, then?
Evidently, he missed the shirt stuffed in the man's pocket. Or... had it fallen out on the path a while back? A sweat pocket wasn't a very secure place for such a big item~ Either way, there was a pink shirt on the ground.
"...You look better with the mask on." Yeah... she knew it was him; how couldn't she? He took a swig of his beer, and absentmindedly spun the now empty bottle on the bar, his finger in the mouth, his thumb slowly rotating it back and forth.
"You look like hell, too." He stated flatly, not really reacting outwardly to her knowledge of his identity. He motioned toward the bartender, who already knew to get him another round. He was already feeling a little warm, but he'd been drinking enough lately not to show it. He'd started taking up drinking again when Andy had been gone... When she came back, he'd cut down a lot, but after the dream... Well... He had some things he wanted to forget. Old Al was good at making you forget.
"...How did it end?"
He felt a slow ache in his chest... A phantom pain from a wound that never existed. "Badly." He didn't say anything further... She had to have known that after she'd broken her promise, there was no reason he could keep his own...
The bartender placed his drinks before him, and went about his business, pausing only to look around, confused as to how a bottle of Jack had found its way nearly out of the bar. He found a waitress to chew out about it, and things went on without further fuss.
"I didn't live much longer than you. We failed."
Why did it hurt to say it? It hadn't even been real. It felt real, though; more real than any dream had ever come close to feeling. He downed a double shot, and washed it down with some beer... He was drinking a little faster than usual... Maybe he could cut back... Maybe.

It had been a slow night; no students having a nightmare and blowing up the dorms, no dangerous villains muahaha-ing as they tried to beat down the front door. Nothing. He couldn't complain about that, though. It had been a trying couple of weeks for him, and having a chance to kick back and watch some television screens for a while was practically a cake walk.
He took a sip of his FISTFACE energy drink, eyeing the can for a short moment; A man, with a fist for a chin, was face punching a sheep. He chuckled a little, and set the can down; what would they think up next? His eyes found the cameras once again; he had to admit it was a bit boring, staring at the screens, waiting for nothing, but he couldn't say he didn't like the job; It was better than being on the streets. He knew that personally. A fond memory popped into his head; he was only days away from the anniversary of his arrival at the mansion. He remembered his blatantly idiotic attempt to sneak into the school, and the shock he'd felt when he'd, well, been shocked by the defense system. He wondered what Jewel was up to these days...
The ex homeless man imagined Streak had been sitting in this very seat that night. A chuckle slipped out as he checked to make sure the electricity traps were off; he didn't see the point in having them on while he was watching the grounds personally... Didn't want some poor sap to get zapped like he did. Not that anyone was going to try and sneak up on the mansion on a silent night like this.
A grin formed on his face as he saw a familiar shape walking toward the kitchen. Andrea was up for her midnight snack; he hoped the fridge would survive the encounter... Part of him wondered if she would stop in for a visit like she usually did. The grin turned into a fond smile; she really was adorable.
He really was fortunate this place existed... Thinking back, he could see himself lying dead in a ditch if he hadn't come here those precious few years ago. Now, he was happy, healthy, and looking at a future with the girl of his dreams.

Saphirus needed a drink. His head was pounding, and he felt a bit sick... That's right, he was suffering from the dreaded hangover. He had opted to avoid the hair of the dog today; Andy wanted to spend some time with him... Something about checking on the guy that got shot when she was FREAKING STABBED. He still couldn't get over it... The story was just unreal. It reminded him again that he really needed to be there for her; she had this strange penchant for finding trouble.
Also, for bringing home strays. Okay, that was a rude way to say it, headache. She was a kind soul, and anyone who needed help, she would help. That was one of the things he loved about her most, honestly. He rubbed his forehead for a second as she prepared to drag him to the next place, looking for this guy.
"I mean.. surely there was another place? There is even an extra bed in your room!" "Uh... well... I was kinda hoping you would move into that one... Like... permanently. Y'know, cause you're in my room so often anyway." She'd been having nightmares, and he really couldn't say he minded that when she did, she'd come right to him, and sleep in his bed. It was a little odd for her to do so without any kind of... more personal intent, but he honestly didn't mind... It was kinda nice. Plus, if she moved in, maybe they could work on furthering their relationship a little... Not that he wanted to pressure her, or anything. He was perfectly happy moving at a pace she was comfortable with.
Besides... Ever since... Well... Ever since that night, she'd been having nightmares more than ever. It seemed like she really didn't remember everything from the dream; she didn't remember what she'd become. It seemed almost unfair that she got to forget, but he had to remember killing her every time he saw her face. She looked back at him, and his heart skipped a beat. He did his best to smile... He had to ignore these feelings, and do the best he could to make sure none of it happened in the real world.
He was snapped out of those thoughts by some giggling teens, and Andy's spotting of the young man she'd been talking about. Apparently he was a shaken and shy, but polite amnesiac. Maybe even brave, but obviously not much of a fighter, if he couldn't fight a couple small time robbers off.
She seemed to want to get to him in a hurry, but he was downstairs, and out the window. A grin popped onto his face as he slid the window open, and held his hand out to Andy. "Shall we take a shortcut, m'lady?" A grin appeared on his face.
A moment later, after telling Andy to make sure the basket didn't spill, and the teens to close the window afterward, they were plummeting toward the ground; he made a nice, gently landing right in the path of the running amnesiac. A quick look up and down told him the guy wasn't what he'd expected... Jesus, he was built like... like... Vin Diesel! He was also wearing.... pink shoes.
Wait a minute... Pink shoes... Built like Vin... Living in the girl's dorm... Useless in a real fight... Oh... Well... Ahem. He wondered if Andy knew... Probably not. He would be sure not to bring it up, though... She did have a religious background, and he hadn't really asked how she felt about... well, people who made different choices when it came to who they wanted to love. He wouldn't ruin her notion of him before explaining that it really was normal, and nothing the book she read said would change that.
